Chapter 16 – The Heir of Ravenclaw:

"JANE?"

"Polyjuice Potion…" she mumbled in disgusted voice. She had a small, French accent. "Horrible stuff, but dead useful."

"Jane?" whispered Lily, sounding both confused and annoyed. "That's Jane? Where's Puckles? What the bloody hell is going on?"

"Oh don't call me that wretched Muggle name," snapped Jane, looking directly at Eddie and ignoring Lily. Lily could not help but notice that Jane had an accent that was neither English nor American. It sounded French. "I've had to endure it for the past two years, I shall endure it no longer!"

"Jane, what are you talking about?" asked Eddie pleadingly. "Jane, it's me, Ed…"

"I know who you are!" snapped Jane, sparks shooting out of her wand. "How could I not know who you are? I followed and observed you for a full year before finally throwing myself at you!"

"What are you talking about?" asked Eddie, his voice suddenly getting high from desperation.

"She's not who she says she is," said Lily in a deadpan voice, glaring viciously at Jane. "Her name is not Jane Anderson, she's not a Muggle, and she never cared for you, Ed. She used you to get to me…to get to the Stone."

"Well aren't you just a genius, Potter!" hissed Jane through clenched teeth, now setting her sights on Lily. "And if you're so damn smart, you'll know not to open your mouth and interrupt me again. Is that understood?" To Eddie's immense surprise, Lily did not retort. He knew it was either because she knew that Jane had the upper hand or she was going to allow Jane to rant while she schemed a plan on how to escape: just like she used to do when she faced Voldemort.

Jane turned away from Lily and stared back at Eddie. He asked, "Who…who are you? How?"

Jane rolled her eyes impatiently. "Thankfully you hired Potter here to find me, Weasley because you certainly don't have the brains to figure all of this out."

"How could you?" bellowed Eddie, his voice shaking. Whether it was from anger or anguish, Lily did not know. "I loved you Jane!"

"STOP CALLING ME JANE!" bellowed Jane, more sparks coming out of her wand. "My name is Anson Jeandré and you will call me that!" There was a long pause, with no noise with the exception of Anson's heavy breathing. Lily did the math in her head and saw that Jane Anderson was just Anson Jeandré with the letters mixed up.

When Anson finally seemed to calm down, Eddie started struggling again; both emotionally and physically. He was physically fighting against the cords but emotionally fighting over the fact that he had let a woman, and not just any woman, his so-called fiancé, trick him for all of these years.

"How could a fraud like you make me love you?" whispered Eddie bitterly, as though trying to hurt her as much as she had clearly hurt him, but failing miserably.

"Of course you loved me, Weasley," said Anson bitterly, rolling her eyes impatiently. "All I had to do was sing you a little tune. And whenever I felt you looking at other women or thinking about blondie over here, I just had to hum a little song and I had you wrapped around my finger again."

"Sing to me?" asked Eddie, now struggling against the binds. "How would you singing have any effect on my emotions?" But, before Jane could even respond, Lily answered the question for her.

"Eddie, she's the Heir of Ravenclaw…"

Jane turned and looked directly at Lily, her eyes widened. But she no longer looked venomous and angry; she looked absolutely delighted with Lily's response.

"Very good, Potter!" she said, clapping her hands in delight. Looking at Anson, Lily was not sure if the woman was completely sane or not. She could not blame Eddie; after all, Jane's ultimate power was the ability to seduce members of the opposite gender through the use of song. "How did you figure that out?"

"Because if you were able to make Ed fall in love with you through your singing," started Lily casually, as though she had conversations like this everyday, "then you obviously have the power of Hyptocris…the power to control the minds of others through your singing. And no witch or wizard can inherit that power unless they are the Heir of Ravenclaw."

"Precisely!" said Anson, beaming. "My father liked taking advantage of this power. He loved singing to strange women whom he found beautiful, having them come home with him, taking advantage of them, using them for their bodies…

"He was particularly fond of using his power against Muggles because they were most susceptible to his power," said Anson, sounding disgusted, her face going red. She was clearly ashamed of her father for using his powers in such a manner, but what could she do about it?

"That's what he did to my mother," snarled Anson, her wand and her arm shaking violently with anger. "He used her as a one-night stand then never contacted her again, getting her pregnant and leaving her to raise me all alone.

"My mother raised me the best she could, but I strongly physically resembled my father so she automatically resented me; she wanted nothing to do with the monster who used her for her body," continued Anson, though for some reason she was glaring at Eddie as she said these words. "You men are all the same. I'm sure Potter will agree to that…" This struck a cord with Lily and she inwardly cringed, especially considering the past that she and Eddie shared together.

"I never thought much of my father," said Anson, now turning to look at Lily. "My mother did not speak very highly of him after all. It wasn't until I received my letter from Beauxbatons and discovered I was a witch that I became curious. I did not know about Muggle-born witches and wizards so I thought that my father had to be a wizard."

Lily was listening intently; she knew she should be trying to think of a way to escape but she wanted to know more about Anson; it could be helpful in keeping her and Eddie both alive.

"Once I knew I was a witch, I was determined to find my father," said Anson. Lily prayed that she would just keep talking. "Little did I know he would find me before I could get to him. He was a professor at Beauxbatons and when I attended, he immediately recognized my abilities. I was always a fantastic singer, so when I joined the choir, he knew I had to be the result of one of his conquests.

"But, my father was not a…sharing man. He wanted what he wanted and would not stop until he had it. He wanted me…he wanted his flesh and blood. And when my mother refused to give me up, he killed her so he could claim custody over me," said Anson. "I didn't know it at the time. At my mother's funeral he approached me and told me he was my father." She finally turned to Lily and smirked maliciously. "You'll appreciate this part of the story, Potter. Word on the street is that you fully understand what it's like to have a neglectful father."

"You bit-"

"Lily, stop!" snapped Eddie. The last thing he wanted was for Lily to name call Anson and have her upset, lose her mind, and kill them.

"You were always so generous like that, Ed," said Anson tauntingly. Eddie's jaw clenched in anger, but he did not say anything and allowed Anson to continue her story and Lily to continue her thinking.

"I moved in with my father," she said, "but he was very neglectful; never took any interest in me, only my powers.

"Right before I graduated from Beauxbatons, my father told me about our heritage and how we were descendants of the great Merlin," there was a certain kind of pride in her voice when she said this. "And how he had created the Stone of Merlin that only his descendants could use that would make them more powerful than any other witch or wizard in existence; that his four grandchildren used the Stone to create the first wizarding school and that I was descendent of one of them, Rowena Ravenclaw.

"He also told me that two of the other Heirs were fighting viciously over the Stone and that if they continued doing so, it would lead to the destruction of the wizarding world. He told me that the Heir of Intelligence and Wits should be the only one in charge of the Stone and that it was the only way to create peace within the wizarding world."

"That's ridiculous!" Eddie finally burst out. "Lily and Voldemort were never fighting over the Stone! Lily was only fighting for her life and to stop Voldemort from enjoying the Muggle world and taking over the wizarding world! She wanted nothing to do with its power!"

"Potter is the Heir of so-called Bravery and Recklessness," snapped Anson angrily. "That's the last Heir I'd want to be holding the bloody Stone. After all, look at the mess it has gotten her in." Lily did not say anything, but only glared at Anson. After all, she had a point. Lily's bravery had gotten her in more trouble than she would care to admit; the same could be said for her father and grandparents.

"My father used many resources in order to try and track down the Stone and the other Heirs of the Hogwarts Founders; between the both of us and our brilliance, it took us no time to find out about Tom Riddle, Heir of Salazar Slytherin and the Chamber of Secrets and what he had become!

"But, when my father began using blackmail and murder to get information he wanted about the Stone, I knew he would be no better than Tom Riddle. But, he was my father and despite his neglect, I loved him dearly. What can I do?"

"You killed him, didn't you?" asked Lily in a cold, hard, knowing voice.

"Not at first, no," started Anson, almost defensively. "But when he unknowingly gave me a clue telling me that he killed my mother, I swore revenge. I didn't kill him for many years after I found out. After all, I need him! We needed to hunt down the Heirs of Gryffindor and Hufflepuff! But, I knew I would need to eventually. He had just become just as evil and power-hungry as Tom Riddle and I knew that me, and me alone, should become sole controller of the Stone.

"When did you discover I was the Heir of Gryffindor?" asked Lily curiously.

"It was clear that Tom Riddle had gotten his hands on it due to all the power he was gaining. My father and I decided it was best we keep a low profile until he had the perfect plan to attack him and claim the Stone for our own," explained Anson. "But, when a teenage girl named Lily Potter managed to defeat him while having the Stone, we knew you must be another Heir. We tracked down your ancestry and found out you were the Heir of Gryffindor."

"And you were never concerned about the Heir of Hufflepuff?" asked Lily.

"We tracked down Helga Hufflepuff's ancestors and it seemed to stop dead for many years; as though the magic in that bloodline had just stopped; they had all become Squibs. Then a Muggle-born named Ted Tonks attended Hogwarts and had a daughter who died in the war. That line ended; so no, I was not concerned.

"So, now that the lines of Slytherin and Hufflepuff had ended, you only had to worry about me," said Lily.

"I had to worry about you very much, Potter," said Anson, her voice once again turning to venom. "Not only were you an Heir, but you actually had the Stone and you seemed to know how to use it! You defeated the darkest wizard of all time and a famous, talented Auror who was well on her way to being the youngest person to ever old the position of Mistress of Magic.

"My father became obsessed with you and finding the Stone. I actually discovered a plan where he intended on killing me, destroying you, and taking the Stone for himself, becoming the most powerful wizard in existence. It was then I decided to kill him, so I slit his throat in his sleep."

"What a loving father, daughter relationship," Lily mumbled sarcastically under her breath. If Anson heard her, she chose to ignore it and continued with her rambles.

"I found out everything I could about you, Potter," said Anson as she narrowed her eyes and began advancing on her. "But, what intrigued me the most was your friendship turned relationship with Edward Weasley. I knew he would tell me everything I needed to know about you. Maybe he wouldn't tell me outright, but he'd tell me enough."

"Is that when you hunted me down?" snapped Eddie. Lily rolled her eyes; he was clearly not taking this whole fake relationship with the fake Jane Anderson lightly. In fact, he seemed down right furious and devastated. Lily just wanted to tell him to shut-up and let her handle the comments, but how could she? They were back to back and had absolutely no way of communicating.

"That's when I began tracking you down, Weasley," said Anson, nodding condescendingly. "You're finally beginning to catch up. Good for you!"

She turned away from Eddie and turned back to Lily. "I went to the United States and observed him for a year and adapted a life as a Muggle. Then I followed him into a karaoke bar one night and thought it could not be anymore perfect; it was the most perfect opportunity to seduce him. I took the stage, began my singing and…well…the rest if history."

"Brilliant story," mumbled Eddie sarcastically.

"Oh it gets better!" said Anson excitedly. "I knew Weasley well enough to know that if he knew I was kidnapped to England that he would fly there and demand the best. And I knew Potter was considered the best. I knew you'd be working together and I made sure that every clue was relatable to what we both wanted, Weasley; Lily. The Statue of Liberty is green and represented her green eyes. King Tut's tomb was filled with gold and represents her gold hair. The Blarney Stone represents the fact that she was your first kiss, Weasley. The Taj Mahal was made because of a woman who died in childbirth and Lily carried your child for a short time, Weasley. And the Roman Coliseum represents the fact that Lily fought in battles all of her life."

"You're sick, Jeandré," mumbled Eddie in a disgusted manner.

"I'd say more creepy than anything," said Lily, sounding equally disgusted. Anson was now laughing manically now. "And Orpheum Puckles? Who is he?"

"Oh, I found a homeless man on the street and gave him a few pounds for his hair," said Anson casually. "Orpheum was my father's name."

So, now you want the Stone of Merlin and to destroy the last Heir…me…"

"You got it, Potter!" said Anson, once she regained her composure. "This has been a merry little game but it is now over. Now, if you hand over the Stone without a fight, I promise to make your death quick and painless."
