Frizzle: No siree! Disclaimer: Slytherin – Fanatic 911 does not own JunJou Romantica or D N Angel but she does own her own character, Sayuri (Satoshi's twin sister). Now… ON WITH THE STORY!

When Daisuke woke up that morning, his body still felt sluggish and heavy. It was probably because of the combined eight hours and 37 minutes of sleep he'd gotten in the few days since Dark was captured. It didn't help that everything he ate tasted like cardboard. He felt like rubbish and he probably didn't look much better. Still, though it was a struggle to even get out of bed, he managed it. He needed to find some way to bust Dark out of jail.

Emiko had already researched the police station thoroughly and together they'd managed to find a route to the room Dark was likely being held in. With a little bit of skill, Daisuke could easily break in. But getting out then finding some place to keep Dark safe was the hard part. Dark would become a fugitive. But it wouldn't be too unfamiliar and anything was likely better than being kept hostage.

Daisuke got dressed slowly then headed out to the kitchen. He sat down at the table and Argentine soon brought over a cup of coffee. He started sipping at it slowly then pulled out his phone to check his notifications. There were some emails from his university and a few messages from his mother. Nothing that needed a reply straight away.

"What are you plans for today?" Argentine asked.

Daisuke looked up at him and replied, "I don't know. I think I might hang around the house again today.

"Very well. I have to go out later on an errand. Is that okay?"

Daisuke saw Argentine's ears turn red but he didn't say anything. He could have his secrets.

Daisuke continued to slowly drink his coffee as he watched Argentine make breakfast. Soon enough it was ready and placed in front of him. His stomach growled at the sight of the food and he thought maybe he could eat it all this time.

Just as Daisuke took a bite of his toast, there was a knock on the door. He turned to look as Argentine opened the door to reveal-

"Riku-san!"

"Daisuke!" Riku squealed as she pushed her way past Argentine and into the flat.

Daisuke stood and grabbed Riku's arms when she neared him. He then pulled her into a hug. After spending so much time away from her, it felt weird to have her in his arms again. Her warmth and softness felt nice but it also felt… weird.

"I heard about Dark on the news," Riku said, looking up to Daisuke. "Are you okay? You must be pretty worried."

Daisuke pulled away and rubbed the back of his neck. "Y-yeah, well, there's nothing much I can do about the whole situation. I just have to trust Dark."

"Your mother was telling me that you're already planning to break him out. How's that going?"

"It's going to be easy enough to get in but once I actually have Dark and the police are alerted…"

Riku sat down at the kitchen table and Daisuke sat beside her. She crossed her arms then said, "I don't want you to get hurt."

"I'd be careful, of course. I only need to get Dark out."

"But I don't want you to risk your life for him! It's not worth it. Besides, he is a criminal. Shouldn't he pay for his crimes?"

"But… I care about him. I can't just leave him in jail, I have to help him."

"I know, but I care about you." Riku laid a hand on Daisuke's arm. "I don't want you to do something stupid for him."

Daisuke stood up. "I'll do whatever it takes to save Dark. He'd do the same for me."

"But, Daisuke-" Riku stood up but didn't follow as he walked over to the door and started to put his shoes on. "Where are you going?"

Daisuke turned to Riku. "I'm going to see Satoshi-kun."

As Daisuke walked out the door, all he could hear behind him was, "Satoshi-kun?"

Ever since Argentine had come into the shop last to give her that letter, Sayuri had been on the lookout for him. That letter he'd given her had detailed to her what happened the past few years and that he still felt the same for her. She was still unsure of how she felt about the whole situation, including him, but she had questions. Questions for him and questions about the spell he gave her.

That spell had contained a way to make a Hikari artwork human. She had read in some of the books Satoshi had that there may be a spell like that but she didn't think it actually existed. Why would it? Most, if not all, of the Hikari artworks, were considered curses, especially Kokuyoku. But this spell seemed to be written for Kokuyoku. So why did it exist? Which of her ancestors would create a spell like that?

Since receiving that spell the other day, she'd gone over it in detail. Just judging from what she saw, she didn't think it would work successfully on Krad and Dark. But the Niwas' had modified it just enough to work on Argentine. With further revisions and Krad's co-operation, they might be able to turn Krad and Dark human. But even if she did work on the spell, would Krad want that? Or would he want to continue as an artwork?

The door tinkled as someone entered the art shop. Sayuri looked up to welcome them but was surprised to see, instead of a customer, a bouquet.

"Wh-what?" she said before the bouquet was lowered and Argentine was revealed.

Sayuri scanned him. His cream hair was tied back in a short ponytail and, from the memory she had of him, he was taller and slightly bulkier. He was definitely human.

"Sayuri-chan," he said, walking over to the counter. He held out the bouquet and continued, "It's been too long since I last spoke to you properly."

"Y-yeah, well, out last conversation didn't exactly end well. Sorry about that, by the way."

"Please, do not worry about it. You were only trying to protect your brother and Kokuyoku."

"But, I-"

"You were right, in any case," Argentine cut in. "When Emiko-sama found out I tried to go with you, she was furious. She banned me from ever seeing you again and refused to listen to me when I asked to be turned human. It was Daisuke-sama and Kosuke-sama who agreed to help me."

"Actually, I wanted to ask you about that. I didn't think something like that spell existed."

"It came into my possession when I was searching for someone to help fix Qualia. I kept it because I thought it might be useful."

"And you turned yourself human with it."

"To be with you. Please, Sayuri-chan, my one wish is to remain by your side. Can I?"

Sayuri looked down to the bouquet and flushed. It had been a long time since hse properly thought about her own feelings. Did she want to be with Argentine?

She reached out and accepted the flowers. "I don't know if I can jump into anything with you just yet, but maybe in the future."

Argentine smiled. "And I will continue to wait for you until then." He then bowed and said, "My contact details are enclosed in the letter I gave you. I'll see you around, Sayuri-chan."

"See you around, Argentine."

Sayuri waved to him as he left the shop.

Takeshi had left not 10 minutes ago when there was another knock Risa's apartment door. Luckily she had no plans to go out until the evening when she was going to be meeting Riku. When she actually opened the door, though, she was surprised to see her sister. The shock melded into happiness, though, and she jumped on Riku immediately, hugging her tightly.

"Oh, I'm so glad to see you," Risa said. She dragged Riku into the apartment and closed the door. "Sit! Please! Have you seen Niwa-kun yet? I bet he was really surprised to see you."

Riku sat at the table while Risa started preparing tea for them. She chatted away as the water boiled and the leaves steeped. She told Riku about almost everything that had happened to her since she last saw her. Although, she didn't mention anything about Satoshi. Daisuke likely hadn't told her about his previous relationship and Riku needed to hear that from him, not anyone else.

Once the tea was ready, Risa brought the mugs over to the table and placed one in front of Riku. She then sat down as well and asked, "So, how have you been? I want to hear everything."

"Fine," Riku mumbled while taking a sip of her tea. "I've just been working, really. Not too interesting."

"C'mon, I'm sure that something's happened. What about Niwa-kun? Have you seen him yet?"

Riku stuck a pinky in her tea and swirled it. She started at the contents of her cup for a long moment before asking, "Am I a bad person?"

"What?" Where did that come from? "Of course you're not."

"But I don't care that Dark's in jail. If anything, I'm happy he is. He's a pervert and a criminal."

Risa had always known that her sister didn't like Dark. It wasn't that much of a shock considering how different they actually were. Somewhere over the years, maybe after she gave up on Dark, Riku became less antagonistic towards him. Dark still remained the same as ever from what she could tell but for some reason, Riku hated him less. And now there she was, sitting in front of her, worried about being a bad person? The only person, besides herself, Riku had ever cared about this much was Daisuke. But what did he have to do with Dark?

"Riku," Risa moved to sit next to her sister. She laid her hand on her arm and continued, "Does this have anything to do with Niwa-kun? You can be honest with me."

Riku sniffed and looked up to Risa. "I know Daisuke cares about Dark but I don't want him doing anything stupid trying to save him. I'm sure Dark wouldn't want that either."

"How do you know-?"

"But Daisuke seems so set on helping him anyway and now he's even gone to see Hiwatari, who I didn't even know was in Tokyo."

"Oh, are those two talking again? That's great! I haven't had any chances lately to chat to Satoshi-kun so I'm glad to hear that he and Niwa-kun are getting along well."

"Wh-what are you talking about?"

Risa covered her mouth. She hadn't let slip the most important detail but she still probably said too much.

"Since when have you been friends with Hiwatari?"

"We-well, it just sort of happened. I met him at the Historical Ball and things progressed from there."

"You're not-" Riku narrowed her eyes. "You're not dating him, are you?"

Risa couldn't help the giggle that escaped her. Even after giving up on Dark, she'd never, never, thought about Satoshi in that way. And especially not now.

"No way!" Risa said, still giggling. "Even if I did like him, he's gay!"

Riku's mouth fell open. Risa realised what she just said and started to curse herself. She never was that good at keeping secrets from her sister.

Daisuke knew by this time he was bothering Satoshi. Their relationship, or whatever they had between them, was civil at the moment and constantly pestering him about Dark wasn't doing it any favours. But there he was again, standing in front of the police station, waiting for him once more.

Satoshi had already told him multiple times that no, he couldn't see Dark and no, as a police officer he couldn't 'bend the rules'. But it was better than sitting at home, moping about, especially since Riku was there now. He was pleased to see Riku, of course, but his last conversation with his father before he left was still clear in his mind, now more than ever. He still cared about Satoshi and wanted something more with him but he also knew that they'd both changed a lot over the past four years and that they couldn't go back to what they had before. But at that moment, he had an obligation and couldn't start anything without speaking to Riku first.

Whether Daisuke wanted to break up with Riku or not, he was still on the fence about. He was comfortable in a relationship with her and he was reluctant to give that up. But if what had happened just over four years ago was any indication, then he wasn't destined to end up with her. And even what she said before held some indication of that. She'd rather Daisuke sit at home and do nothing than him help Dark. But after all this, could he really just break up with her? It would be repeating history and this time round she'd never forgive him. He cared about her enough that he didn't want that.

"You're still here?" a voice asked.

Daisuke turned and met eyes with Satoshi. He grinned and fell into place beside the blunette as he walked away from the station. "I just wanted to know how everything was going. Has there been any news?"

"If there was, I likely wouldn't tell you. How are you doing, by the way?"

"Fine. I managed to get a bit more sleep last night."

"That's good. Will you be joining me for lunch today? I don't have much time before I need to get back to work."

"Oh," Daisuke faltered in his step. He had been visiting a lot lately, but only for long enough to check in on Dark. "I-if you don't mind. I'm not really hungry, though."

"You need to eat. It's my treat."

"Thanks, you really don't need to."

"It's fine. How are your plans to break Dark out, going?"

Daisuke flushed. Of course, Satoshi would know about his plans. But even he wouldn't stop him from trying to rescue Dark. "Fine." He clenched his fists. "I will get him out."

"With your skills, I'm sure you will. Be careful not to get caught, alright? I don't want to end up arresting you too."

"You're… not going to stop me?"

"Why would I?"

"B-because it's dangerous and I might get caught. Besides, Dark deserves to be punished, doesn't he? He's a thief."

Riku's words been echoing in his head since that morning. She was right and he knew it. But he would never abandon Dark so he had to go.

A chuckle brought Daisuke out of his thoughts and he looked over to see Satoshi smiling.

"If you care about Dark as much as I care about Krad then you'll do anything to get him out."

"Y-yeah, that's right." Daisuke grinned. "I'll definitely get him out."

"Well, I can't tell you anything. Not even that Dark's in a cell in the third basement, being guarded round the clock by two guards outside the room and three inside."

Daisuke tried to contain his smile.

They walked a short bit longer before Satoshi stopped outside a small restaurant. He entered and Daisuke followed. He barely had time to scan the menu before Satoshi was ordering. He chimed in with his own order then they moved to a couple seats by the window to wait for their food.

Daisuke looked around the restaurant and saw that, despite being around lunch, it was mostly deserted. The smell coming from the kitchen was making his mouth-waiter, though, so he didn't know why people were passing it up.

"Aside from Dark being in jail, how are you enjoying it in Tokyo so far?" Satoshi asked.

Daisuke looked at him and tried his best not to blush. "Fine. It's a lot bigger than Azumano and I miss everyone back there but it's great so far. It helps that Harada-san, Saehara, and now Riku-san are all here. Makes me a little less homesick."

"Harada… Riku is here? Why?"

Daisuke tensed. If he told Satoshi the truth about him and Riku, how would he react?

"She's here to visit her sister," Daisuke said, looking down to his hands. "And me. A-a year after you guys left Azumano, we started dating again."

It was silent for a long while. Daisuke closed his eyes and felt his heart sink. He didn't to lie to Satoshi but he'd probably ruined any chance of them getting back together. Stupid.

"Do you love her?"

The voice was quiet enough that Daisuke almost missed it. He looked up at Satoshi with wide eyes then bit his lip and replied, "No, I don't."

Satoshi stared at Daisuke. His cold, blue eyes met Daisuke's warm, red ones and after a moment he asked, "Then why are you still dating her?"

Daisuke couldn't think of a response. Aside from not wanting to hurt Riku's feelings, there wasn't a single good reason he was still dating her. In fact, dragging out their relationship was just going to hurt them both more. He had to break up with Riku. Now was a perfect time, too. She was in Tokyo and her sister was there as well so she could comfort her. Breaking up would also show Satoshi that he was serious about his apology.

Satoshi stood up and walked over to the counter to pick up their food. He placed Daisuke's in front of him and said, "I'm going back to work. Eat that. And I don't want to see you lingering near the station again. The other officers are getting suspicious. See you on New Year's Eve."

Daisuke nodded dumbly and watched as Satoshi left the restaurant.
