Slytherin – Fanatic 911: Howdy Y'all! Last chapter ahoy! Let's get into it!

After his chat with Satoshi, Daisuke had taken a long walk around the city. The conclusion he came to on that walk was the same as the one he'd come to before. He needed to break up with Riku. After dating her for so many years and now not even having Dark by his side, he knew it wasn't going to be easy. As much as he wanted Dark's advice on the matter, he had to rely on himself this time.

So eventually Daisuke made his way back to the apartment. Argentine wasn't there and Riku was nowhere to be found either. That was fine. It would give him time to think of what he was going to say to her. He laid down on the couch, took a deep breath, and closed his eyes.

His break up with Riku last time hadn't been pretty and afterwards, he'd lied to her about Sayuri. But last time it had been spur of the moment and he'd been too afraid of his mother to be truthful. He was 19 now and knew better. He knew that he had to be truthful with Riku, and eventually his mother, and he had to be gentler as well. He didn't expect to remain friends with her after everything but he wanted to be civil, as least. Riku would surely lose her temper but he had to remain level-headed.

The more time that passed, the more nervous that Daisuke got. He could hear his heart beating loudly in his chest and his palms were starting to sweat as well. Riku must've been out visiting her sister. When would she be back? Would she come back? They had argued that morning. Maybe he should call her… No. He had to be patient. If she didn't come back tonight then he'd find her in the morning. Breaking up with her was something he had to do face-to-face.

Afternoon turned into evening and neither Argentine nor Riku came back. Daisuke started to make himself something simple and ate it while watching the news. At seven o'clock, just when he was starting to think that Riku really had decided to stay with Risa, there was a quiet knock on the door and she entered the apartment.

Daisuke took a deep breath and stood. He faced Riku and said, "Good evening, Riku-san. I was waiting for you to get back."

"Oh," Riku replied as she closed the door behind her, "well, I wanted to talk to you, Daisuke, about what I said this morning."

"Forget about that. Please," Daisuke gestured to the couch, "take a seat. I think we need to talk."

Daisuke knew that those words were never good and he felt awful for saying them to Riku. She looked to the couch, swallowed, then sat down. He sat next to her and stared at his hands while he figured out what to say.

He cleared his throat after a few minutes and said, "Riku-san, I think for a while now I've been pretty selfish. I've only been thinking of myself and how I felt and ignoring the feelings of those around me. I've been too comfortable in a relationship with you to realise what I actually wanted. Especially since what I actually wanted is something that might be unobtainable for me. Whether for good or for worse I need to make a change in my life and that change starts with breaking up with you."

A silence followed after Daisuke finished but it was broken by a sob and a question of, "Why?"

Daisuke flushed when he saw Riku's tears. He was expecting her to be angry, not crying. "As I said, I need to make a change and I think we'd be better off if we split up."

"But I love you. Isn't that enough? If you need to change yourself, why do you need to break up with me?"

Daisuke laid a hand on Riku's shoulder. "The problem is that I don't love you and that's not fair to you. You deserve more happiness than what I'm giving you now."

"And you don't think I can be happy with you?"

"No, I'm sorry, I-"

"But I am happy with you. If this is about I said earlier, I'm sorry."

"It's not about earlier it's about- about…" What was it really about? "I'm in love with Satoshi-kun. I have been for a while. And I've been using you as his replacement these past four years. I want to stop lying, though, and telling you the truth is the first step."

"But… Hiwatari's a guy."

"That doesn't matter to me. I love him. And right now, I'm not sure if he feels anywhere close to the same way but I have to try."

Riku took a shaky breath and wiped her eyes. "Maybe you're right. Maybe I can find happiness elsewhere."

Daisuke squeezed Riku's shoulder and smiled. "You can. I know that any guy would be lucky to have you."

Riku smiled weakly then stood up. She walked over to the door and pulled her shoes on. "I'll stay at Risa's for the rest of my trip. Good luck with… everything."

"Yeah. Good luck to you too. Thanks for putting up with me."

"You're welcome. I'll see you around, Daisuke."

Daisuke waved as Riku left. Once the door was closed, he gave a loud sigh then collapsed back onto the couch.

-D N Angel-

Dark had no idea how long he'd been in jail for now. Day and night blended together in his windowless cell and he could only tell time was passing when the guards changed. He'd been in and out of questioning since he was first locked up but Satoshi had still only visited him once. Thankfully he heard no whispers or gloats that his accomplice had been caught, so he could assume Daisuke was still safe.

He wanted to work on a plan to break out but his information was lacking and without Daisuke, he didn't have anyone to rely on. His only options at that point were to accept his punishment or pray that Daisuke would bust him out somehow. Asking Satoshi for help was definitely too much of a long-shot and Krad was the one who caught him in the first place. It was a dismal situation but he could only blame it on himself.

With all the free time he suddenly had, though, he was able to properly reflect back on his actions four years ago and beyond. Throughout their lives, Dark had consistently been a colossal dick to Krad. He knew of Krad's feelings for him but was always afraid of confronting them. That never stopped him from using them, though. Using them to get Krad to co-operate with him and for an easy one night stand. It was disgusting. It was also no wonder why Krad hated him so much. He didn't do anything to deserve his love.

But after four years of being consciously separated from Krad, Dark had finally decided he wanted him. And maybe Satoshi was right in that he needed to take things slower with him, but it had been four years, he didn't want to wait any longer.

Dark heard noises outside the door to the room but he didn't bother to sit up. He eyed the door lazily as it opened and Satoshi slipped inside. This he did sit up for. He grinned at the blunette who glared down at him.

"You haven't visited for a couple days," Dark said, standing and moving to the bars of his cell to get closer to Satoshi. "I was starting to get lonely."

"Tough shit," Satoshi replied. "I was busy."

"Sorry about that. What are you down here for now, though? Just a little chat?"

Satoshi smirked and Dark felt his confidence waver a little. "The police have finally decided what to do with you. I've been authorised to move you to jail, pending your upcoming trial."

"So they want to put me in jail, not hand me over to science?"

"Don't look so pleased, Mousey." Satoshi leant in and whispered, "You might end up wishing you were given to scientists after your sentence is up, especially with how pretty you are. Be careful when you bend down."

Dark swallowed. He had to try and get out before it was too late. After all, his ass only belonged to one person.

One of the guards unlocked Dark's cell. They stepped inside and put handcuffs on him before pushing him out and forcing him to follow behind Satoshi. They walked out of the room and into a long, plain corridor to an elevator. It was called and they stepped inside, Satoshi in front of Dark and two burly men behind him.

Dark was confident enough in his magic and hand-to-hand combat skills that he felt he could take on all three and win. His main fear was that the two burly men, and probably nearly every other policeman in the station, were carrying guns. He didn't know if he could be killed but he didn't want to find out. So he had to wait for a good opportunity to disarm the guards then potentially take Satoshi hostage to escape. Hopefully, Daisuke would forgive him later.

The elevator stopped at the ground floor and they all stepped out of it. Dark clenched his fists and he was pushed outside and into a large lobby. He looked around, eyeing all the policemen who glared at him and tried to see how many were actually armed. Most of them, it seemed.

"Oof." Dark walked straight into Satoshi's back when he stopped in the middle of the lobby.

"Inspector, is something wrong?" one of the guards asked.

Satoshi turned around and glared them. But his eyes were gold and he had a malicious smirk on his face.

"You humans are fooled so easily," he said. No… Krad said.

Satoshi's blue hair melted into long, golden locks and he held up a white feather. There was a shining, bright light that forced Dark to close his eyes and when he opened them, he was standing on a rooftop in the middle of Tokyo.

"What the fuck?" Dark said, looking around. He turned back to Krad and asked, "What the fuck just happened?"

"I broke you out," Krad replied. He walked over and unlocked Dark's cuffs. "You're welcome."

"Th-thanks." Dark grinned widely. "Thanks, Krad. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Krad let out a 'hmph' and turned away from Dark. White wings sprouted from his back and he was about to take off when Dark grabbed his wrist.

"You can't just fly off, Krad," Dark said. "I some things to say to you."

Krad pulled away from Dark and grit his teeth. "I have no interest in your apologies, Mousey. I only broke you out so that our origins would not be discovered accidentally."

"I'm sorry, Krad. I've been horrible to you all these years and I'll do anything to make it up to you."

"Stay the fuck away from me."

"I can't do that. We're two halves of the same whole, we can't just-"

"Screw Kokuyoku! I've trusted you so many times in the past but time and again you break that trust! I won't let you make a fool out of me again."

Krad was right. Dark didn't deserve any second chances. But he wasn't going to give up that easily.

"Then I'll show you," Dark said. "From now until the day you do forgive me for everything I've done, I'll do everything in my power to show you I've changed."

"I don't believe you."

"Then I'll make you believe."

Krad glared at Dark for a moment longer before turning and saying, "You can start by returning everything you've ever stolen."

"Wh-what? But, do you know how much stuff that is?"

"Yes. And if you want me to consider your proposal, then you'll do as I say."

Dark took a deep breath. It was for Krad. It would be worth it in the end, even if Emiko would be furious.

"Fine," Dark said. He walked around to face Krad. "But I'm gonna need a little motivation first."

Krad held Dark's face gently in his hands and kissed him slowly. When he pulled away, he said, "Get to work, Mousey."

Dark felt his heart skip a beat as he watched Krad fly away. Oh yes, it would definitely be worth it in the end.

Satoshi walked outside the police station and let out a sigh. Finally, after working round the clock for the past few weeks he had the night off. No calls for help, or reports, or incidents would bother him and just knowing that felt good. He would have loved to spend that time at home, drinking some form of alcohol, but he couldn't cancel his plans. Daisuke and he needed to sit and have a proper conversation about their feelings, what happened in the past, and what will happen in the future. He wasn't sure how it would all turn out but at the very least, Daisuke and he were on civil terms and in the future, he wouldn't mind if they became friends.

But for the moment, he looked around the entrance and saw Daisuke leaning against a nearby wall. He felt himself smile involuntarily and walked over to greet him.

"Niwa, have you been waiting long?"

Daisuke grinned. "Not at all. How was work?"

"Horrible. Shall we?"

Daisuke nodded and they started walking. Their hands brushed occasionally, which caused Satoshi's heart to race a little. Eventually, he cleared his throat and asked, "How was your day, by the way?"

"Fine. I hung out with Saehara earlier then had lunch with Harada-san and Riku-san."

"Oh, that sounds… nice."

With how busy work had been, he'd almost completely forgotten about his conversation with Daisuke a couple days ago. To be honest, he wasn't too shocked that the redhead was dating Riku Harada again. The pair always had an attraction to each other in middle school. But it showed to him that Daisuke must've only come to Tokyo to look for him with platonic intentions in mind. But then, Daisuke also said he didn't love Harada… There were too many mixed signals for him to be able to properly judge Daisuke's feelings. At the very least he knew the redhead wanted to become friends again.

"Yeah, it was a little awkward at first but in the end it was fine."

"Awkward? How so?"

"Ah, well, after we last spoke, I thought about what you said and… broke up with Riku-san. I-I just feel that she'll be a lot happier with someone else."

Satoshi ignored the fact that his face was heating up.

"Satoshi-kun," Daisuke said. He stopped in the middle of the path and pulled them both off to the side. "I don't think either of us is ready for a relationship just yet. But I just want to let you know that I'm sorry for wat happened four years ago and that I still love you."

Satoshi swallowed. He turned pink, looked off to the side and said, "I… never really had a family before Krad and Sayuri, so when you chose yours over me, I couldn't understand why. But now, I wouldn't trade Sayuri and Krad for anything. I'm sorry for not giving you a chance to explain and for over-reacting."

Daisuke grinned and Satoshi felt his heart skip a beat. He smiled as well and they continued walking.

"I'm going back to Azumano soon," Daisuke said after a moment. "I was thinking, though, of transferring to Mitsuhashi. I really like it here in Tokyo."

"That's a good idea. Dark would come with you as well, right?"

"Yeah, I don't think he wants to be too far from Krad again."

"I'm sure Krad will enjoy that."

Daisuke chuckled and agreed.

It had been a long time since Satoshi felt so at ease with both himself and the world. He missed the feeling and at the moment, no one could take away from him.

Slytherin – Fanatic 911: You have no idea how much of a relief it is to finally get this fic finished. Had it not been for my laziness I could've had it done years ago, but it's finally done now.

I was pretty unsure about the ending as I was typing it up and I'm still a little apprehensive but I think I've made the right decision to have it more as an open ending. None of the couples are ready for a deep relationship just yet but they are open to getting to know the other person and not much more needs to be said. Daisuke and Satoshi will eventually hook up, Sayuri will move out and live with Argentine, and Krad will make Dark work to earn back his trust (but they will eventually get back together).

I did kind of drop the ball on the whole crossover aspect of Junai Angels right at the end but I'm not too worried about that. In the end, though it was fun having JJR characters in the mix, it was always a story about D N Angel and the JJR characters didn't really have much to do there. If I did have an epilogue than I would have shown Hiroki, Misaki and their respective partners but that didn't need to happen.

As for my future plans, I'm going to be working on finishing Natsuyasumi V2 now. I've got a couple chapters left and if I work a little on them each day I should get it done sooner than later. The reason why I'm so keen on finishing these fics is A) to give the readers some closure and B) D N Angel is not where passions lie right now. It was something I was more obsessed with in my teenage years and at the moment I can't get enough of Ace Attorney. Once I get these last few fics (including The Thief's Escape) wrapped up, then I'll be free to work on what I wish.

I already have written and posted a few Ace Attorney fics on my AO3 account, SlytherinFanatic, and one My Hero Academia fic as well. They're all just oneshots, though. My next multi-chapter fic after all my D N Angel fics are wrapped up will finally be my Kuroshitsuji fic. Once my friend's done editing it, I'll start posting it here on Fan Fiction dot Net and maybe on AO3 as well.

For the moment, it's been lovely sharing this journey with you all. Thank you, everyone, for the wonderful feedback you've given me and I hope you enjoyed the ending of Junai Angels

Ja Bye Bye Ne
