Disclaimer: This is a complete work of fiction, there's no resemblance to actual persons, places or events. If so, it is utterly not intended. I do NOT own Monster High or anything to do with it. I do NOT claim to own artists' works, lyrics, copyrights, labels, etc. Their exposure in this story is completely non-profit and just for fun. I own nothing but my own plot idea, thank you!

A / n: I always love coming back to this story to continue it, especially since it's inspiration is musical, whenever I just hear a song I think of a situation, or even a character to give it a good run and it's just, almost self-inspirational. I'm not quite sure what truly inspired to mix Monster High with karaoke, lmao. But I mean, why not right? Anyways! Please do enjoy the chapter! :)

Heartlessly Heartfelt

Chapter Eighteen

'Don't be so quick to, walk away (dance with me). I wanna rock your body; please stay (dance with me). You don't have to admit ya, wanna play (dance with me). Just lemme rock you, 'til the break of day (dance with me). Got time, but I don't mind. Just wanna rock you ghoul. I'll have whatever you have, c'mon let's give it a whirl. See I been watchin' you, and I like the way you moovee, so go 'head and girl just do… that a- shakin' thing you do. So ya grab your ghouls and you grab a couple more and y'all can meet me in the middle of the floor…'

Holt gave a nod of his head to the beat that Jackson was jamming to currently in his mind. But then there was nothing but silence, after he realized that Holt was listening to him. 'Oh c'mon! That was pretty good. You wanna switch somehow so you can sing to the class? You gotta man, you're one of the few guys we got in this cabin. I don't want girly hormones floating all up in this hot temple body of mine.'

'Ours.'

Holt chuckled to himself out loud, 'Yeah, right. But really, ya gotta amp up the testosterone in here!'

'Your testosterone levels are rather over indulgent regardless. And obnoxious.' He chuckled, annoying Holt a bit more than before. 'Honestly, I'm fine Holt.'

'I could make a real sick beat to that maan and like, record it. You're good Jackson, consider it. Ya realize that this is what the whole music camp thing is about right? Finding your inner talent and just going with it. You got this.'

'Not today.'

Holt sighed as he shifted his attention back to the class. They were still in the process of figuring out who was going next. Mrs. Shea was now referring to a 'class list'. She shifted her eyes to the clock hanging on the wall, it was almost time to go for this session, so she had to get a move on with who was next so she could have a fair chance to hear everyone. "I have not heard Rochelle Goyle, Venus McFlytrap, Howleen Wolf and Robecca Steam I believe. This is actually the smallest vocal class I've had in a few years. But that's okay, that just means that I can work with you all on a more personal basis and really teach you things you never knew about singing before."

It sounded good, but there were still some nerves rattling around the room. Or it could be the skeleton kid in the back with a cold. Whatever the case may be, Venus hopped up and mumbled something about getting stuff done. And she tapped her foot before beginning her song, the one she had chosen since she rushed out of her own cabin earlier. "Singin' radiohead at the top of our lungs, with the boom box blarin' as we're fallin' in love, got a bottle of whatever but it's gettin' us drunk – singin' here's to never growin' up! Call up all our friends, go hard this weekend for no damn reason. I don't think we'll ever change. Meet you at the spot, half past 10 o'clock. We don't ever stop, and we're never gonna change. Say, "I'll just stay forever- stay, I'll just stay forever hey – we can stay forever young."

This almost should've been a closing song for the day, since everyone was getting rather excited and fist pumping along with Venus. "Singin' radiohead at the top of our lungs, with the boom box blarin' as we're fallin' in love, got a bottle of whatever but it's gettin' us drunk – singin' here's to never growin' up! We'll be runnin' down the street yellin' kiss my a- I'm like, 'Yeah whatever we're still livin' like that' when the sun's goin' down we'll be raisin' our cups singin' here's to never growing up!"

All good things must come to an end eventually, but this was good. This was going exactly as planned – but even better if it was imaginable. Getting a feel for everyone's 'personal style' and choices of music would make for great challenges she could give them, starting directly tomorrow. "That reminds me of what some would call an anthem. Of never growing up, this fits you all perfectly. All of Monster High, who remain immortal forever, it's perfection. Excellent pumping up the crowd too Venus, you have a great performance charisma about you. Great stage presence."

The plant ghoul grinned just about as wide as her own pet Chewlian could. "Why thank you! I pick, Howleen next. C'mon ghoul, knock us off our feet."

Howleen blushed, "I'm picking Clawdeen after me, just because sisters do that kinda annoying thing to each other." As she got looks from the awaiting crowd, she decided to talk more. "Some of you might know this song, it's sorta little kiddish, but it's stuck in my head so… here it goes." She tried to calm her nerves that rattled her, but when she got an encouraging smile from Clawdeen and a thumbs up from Clawd, she grinned feeling great confidence.

"Every week's the same, stuck in school – it's so lame. My parents say that I'm lazay, gettin' up at 8am's crazay! I'm tired o' bein' told what to do. It's so unfair, it's so uncool. The day's too long, and I'm holdin' oon, until I hear the bell ring. That's the time when we're gonna (time when we're gonna) breakout! Let the party start, we're gonna stay out – gonna break some hearts. We're gonna dance 'til the dancefloor falls apart, whoa-oh, all over again. We're gonna wake up everyone we know. We're gonna have some fun and lose control. Feels soo good, to let go-oh-oooh." She trailed the last note off softly, getting a round of applause from the group that she wasn't expecting what – so – ever. Even though it's been given for every mini performance so far, she still didn't expect to receive it.

"Very nice Howleen! You have such a refreshing youthfulness to you dear. Now… your sister is next?"

"Yep!"

Clawdeen growled suddenly, "Damn it."

Clawd gave his sister a little push up out of her seat, despite her growling. She had to come up with a song right on the spot, because she didn't actually prepare for this. In all honesty, she was hoping she wouldn't have to go right away.

She rocked back and forth on her heels for a moment, trying to figure out just what song she could sing and hurry up about it. "Story of my life, searchin' for the right but it keeps avoiding me. Sorrow in my soul, 'cause it seems that wrong really loves my company. He's more than a man and this is more than love. The reason that the sky is blue, the clouds are rollin' in, because I'm gone again. To him I just can't be true." She just needed a starting point and then she was more than good to go. "And I know that he knows I'm unfaithful and it kills him inside. To know that I am happy with some other guy, I can see him dyin'. I don't wanna do this anymore, I don't wanna be the reason why, everytime I walk out the door I see him die a little more inside. I don't wanna hurt him anymore, I don't wanna take away his life. I don't wanna be... a murderer."

The huge roar of applause and hollers from the crowd gave her an unbelievable rush of adrenaline that she couldn't describe even if she tried. "That was very well done Miss Wolf!" The comment came from none other than Toralei Stripe.

"Excuse me?" Clawdeen barked, her mouth slightly agape.

"It was good, Wolf. I'm not going to say it again." She flipped her crossed foot elegantly, as one with her poise and grace would.

"Did you forget, that I was even alive? Did you regret, everything we ever had? Did you forget, did you forget about me?" Everyone's eyes... and multiple eyes searched around the cabin furiously, trying to find out where the soft, sweet voice was coming from, but no one stood to own this lovely voice. "Did you regret, ever standing by my side? Did you forget, what we were feeling inside? Now I'm left, to forget about us. But somewhere we went wrong. We were once so strong... our love is like a song... you can't forget it."

A small wave came from Rochelle Goyle, who shifted her gaze away quickly and before anyone could really applaud her or comment, it was now the last of all to go – Robecca Steam.

Brushing her hair back with a slight squeaking sound, an indication she could use some oiling up later – she thought of what song she could just come out with and wasn't a duplicate of what anyone else sang and above all else – something she could recall the lyrics to right in this moment! All she could remember were the lyrics to a very sad ballad she'd heard awhile ago. In her soulful emotion, she began. "He drops his suitcase by the door. She knows her daddy won't be back anymore... she drags her feet across the floor. To hold back time, to keep him holding on. And she says, 'Daddy, daddy don't leave. I'll do anything to keep you, right here with me. Can't you see how much I need you? Daddy, daddy don't leave. Mommy is sayin' things she don't mean. She don't know what she's talkin' about, somebody hear me out. Father, listen... tell him that he's got a home and he don't gotta go. Father, save him. I will do anything in return. I'll clean my room, I'll try hard at school, I'll be good I promise you. Father, father'..."

Not a single monster interrupted this sad song until they knew she was done. Which there were some sniffles and applauding and general speechlessness. And even groans. There was a loud bell, which informed the music camp students that it was now time to switch classes. Who knew what they'd be in for next!

I must confess, that my loneliness is killin' me now. Dont'cha know, I still believe, that you would be here, and gimme a sign... hit me baby one more time!

Rochelle glared down at her ringing iCoffin. Of course it would be Garrot calling her right now, it was just a brief pause in between classes that she needed to try and calm her racing mind. She didn't need any extra distractions right now.

Mrs. Shea did say that she would give a 'bonus' to the boys or girls who put on random, crowd raising performances at unexpected times during camp, as if that couldn't be distracting enough. But it sounded quite fun, and Rochelle didn't want to spend all her time feeling down and out. She ran a stone hand through her hair, not in the mood to think about anything musical right now, which made this camp the very wrong place to be but the ghouls and monsters all around made it bearable.

"I am so torn. Right in half." She sighed, resting her head in her rocky palms. Even if her beloved were to stand right in front of her, she'd have to walk away. That's how utterly confusing her feelings conflicted and made her fluster so easily.

"Oh darlin' don't you fret." Operetta knew this wasn't an invitation to sit down for a chit chat or anything. But she was just trying to help a friend in need. "When words can't help ya outta a jam, music fills the silence." She gave Rochelle's shoulder a pat and gentle rub, before leaving the conflicted young ghoul to think everything over, for the millionth time.

This working for a living thing is really cramping my free time style, xD
