-Hospital-

Catherine stood there and watched as the doctors repeatedly compressed her chest. Vincent held her lifeless hand begging her to stay. Was this an illusion of her own mind? Or was she really dead and stuck between life and death, not knowing where to go. "Hello my darling." said a familiar voice from behind Catherine. She turned to face her mother and was overwhelmed by her presence.

"Mom?"

"Yes. I know this may seem strange, but I'm here to help you."

"Help me what? Mom…what is going on here?"

"You are stuck between life and death Catherine."

"This doesn't make any sense. This isn't real! What does that even mean?"

"You're not fully dead if that is what you're asking. You are in the world of the in between."

"So I'm a ghost?"

"No. Again, you are not fully dead. Let's go for a walk Catherine, okay? I need to show you something."

"Where are we going? What about Vin….."

"Vincent will be fine. Come on."

Catherine stood there not able to take in everything that had just happened. She looked over at Vincent one last time and said, "I love you Vincent." She took Vanessa's hand and they walked out of the hospital which entered them into the precinct. Catherine looked over at her mother with a questionable look on her face.

"Don't worry my darling. I just want to show you what will happen if ever something ever happens to you." said Vanessa as she pointed towards one of the Interrogation rooms. As Catherine entered the room, she saw Tess sitting there all by herself staring at a photo. Tess looked extremely ill and was crying. She ripped up the photo, and threw it in the floor as she got up and left the room. Catherine walked over and picked up the 2 pieces of photo and she saw that it was of her and Tess when they first became partners on the force. Catherine looked towards the door, and back to her mother. "She never married JT neither. After your death, she took it really hard…she is trying to move on, but it is hard for her. She truly cared about you."

Catherine walked to the door and opened it and walked through it to notice she had walked into the Gentleman's Club. JT just sat there on the love seat drinking on a bottle of Jack, staring off into space. He had dark circles around his eyes, lost a lot of weight, and apparently became an alcoholic by the large amounts of empty liquor bottles sitting around. Catherine was torn apart to see him this way. This wasn't like JT at all, and surely he wouldn't have been this upset over Catherine's death. "He lost more than you think Catherine."

"What are you talking about? JT and I were close friends, but not that close."

"Come on…I'll show you."

Vanessa led the way through the Gentleman's Club door which led them to the cemetery. Catherine walked up to a stone and fell to her knees, bursting into tears. The stone read:

Vincent Ryan Keller

Loving Son, Brother, Father, Husband & Friend

-War Hero-

"I don't want to be here. Why are you showing this to me?" Catherine turned around but her mother was gone. "Mom?...Mom?"

Catherine got up and looked around. Vanessa appeared behind her, causing her to jump.

"You see my darling, you are very much needed on Earth by all of them. Tess is falling apart, JT lost Tess, and Vincent along with you, and Vincent got drunk and went for a drive and was hit by an 18 Wheeler, killing him instantly. Heather ended up with the baby after his death and she didn't fully recover neither. They need you more than you know."

"I don't know how to go back."

Vanessa held her hand out to Catherine and as they walked past a tree they were back inside of the operating room of the hospital. Catherine turned around but Vanessa was gone. "You know what to do my darling….and always know that I love you. You were always my strong, little girl."

Catherine turned towards her body, Vincent, and the doctors and walked up to them. As the doctor rubbed the paddles together and shocked her the first time, Catherine jerked and grabbed her chest. "What's happening?" Then again, they shocked her body and she jerked again. They got ready to shock her a third time only this time when they did, Catherine gasped and jerked open her eyes, almost like she had just woke up from a horrible dream. Vincent still had a hold of her hand and he was relieved to see her breathing, "Oh my god…Catherine. Your alive." Catherine patted herself on the chest and up to her face to make sure that she was really alive. She burst into tears and hugged Vincent and showered his face with kisses. Finally the doctor instructed that Vincent wait in the hall and they would take Catherine to her room in a few minutes. He hesitated at first, but Catherine talked him into it. He placed a kiss on her forehead and walked out of the room. The doctor injected her IV with some pain medication and they grabbed the sheet underneath her to pick her up to put her on the hospital bed. Catherine looked around and began to feel worried. She questioned the doctor, "Where is my baby? Is she alright?"

The doctor smiled and placed his hand on Catherine's shoulder, "She's perfectly fine. She is in the nursery right now being cleaned up and dressed and the nurses will bring her to you shortly. Now the question is, are you alright? Do you need some water? How is the pain on a scale from 1 – 10?"

Catherine was still sort of out of it from her near death situation, but managed to respond, "Yes…water sounds good. My mouth is really dry. I would have to say right now it is at a 6."

The doctor nodded and smiled, "You look exhausted. I will have the nurses get you acquainted in your room. I'll be by in the next hour or so to check up on you. Is there anything else I can get you Mrs. Keller?"

"I would really like to see my husband and my daughter now if you don't mind."

"Of course you would. I'll leave you to it. Congratulations Mrs. Keller." the doctor said as he left the operating room. The nurses pushed the bed out into the hallway and Catherine was greeted by Vincent, JT, Tess, and Heather. They all followed behind her and stood in the hallway until the nurses left the room. Heather entered first, the others behind her, and she was carrying a gift shop plant with pink balloons in it and handed it to Catherine as she bent over to kiss her sister on the cheek, "Hey Cat. I bet your feeling pretty drunk right about now. How are you feeling, sis?"

"I think I could feel better….I don't think drunk is the word for it." said Catherine as she let out a slight laugh. "Thanks Heath. Its cute."

Tess walked over and hugged Catherine, "She's beautiful Cat….looks just like you."

"Thanks Tess. I can't wait to see her myself."

"Wait…you didn't see her when they first got her out?" asked JT.

Before Catherine could say anything, Vincent intervened, "She didn't get to see her because she passed out briefly and they went ahead and took Alexis to be cleaned up and stuff, so."

Catherine knew Vincent was trying to keep them from worrying any further than they were. She smiled at him and asked, "How do I look? Like crap?"

Vincent smiled and walked over to her bed and sat next to her, stroking her hair, "You look amazingly beautiful baby and I am so happy to see you smile at me again. I love you so much Catherine." and he bent down and kissed her tenderly on her lips.

JT walked over and interrupted, "Move aside big guy, your hogging the love." Catherine laughed slightly as she reached her arms up for JT to hug her. As he pulled away, the nurses entered rolling in the baby and everyone turned their attention to the her. Vincent helped raise Catherine up in the bed as the nurse took the baby out of the plastic basinet and handed her to Catherine. Vincent sat close to them and the others hovered the bed to see the tiny baby. Alexis weighed 6 pounds and 8 ounces and was 19 inches long. She had a head full of dark brown hair, and big hazel green eyes. Catherine began talking to the baby, "Hey there angel. I'm your mommy. The guy behind me is your daddy…." she then pointed at Heather, "This is Aunt Heather. She's a little crazy sometimes, but we love her anyways." They all laughed as she continued pointing at JT and Tess, "These two are your god parents…so if anything happens to me and daddy, they will take great care of you."

Heather sat on the end of the bed and asked, "Can I hold her?"

"Yeah, sure. As soon as Vincent is done holding her you can." and she handed Alexis to Vincent. The baby made several grunts and yawned a huge yawn. She looked up at Vincent and smiled a little, causing him to smile back as a single tear strolled down his face. "You are truly gorgeous Alexis, just like your mother." Alexis grinned again and he kissed her teeny nose and handed her to Heather. He sat down next to Catherine and noticed how happy she was as she starred and smiled at the baby, "How did we end up with such a beautiful being in our lives?"

Catherine turned her head towards Vincent, eyes locked with his as she said, "Love." and she smiled, pulling him closer to her to kiss him deep.
