Once they reached the stadium the next morning Ash, and co noticed the large number of video cameras around the battle field and up in the bleachers. Ash was in awe of how many people would be watching the battles all over the world. He looked around to see several trainers getting interviewed by media reporters and pokemon league officials. They were surrounded by pokemon fans and newscasters talking about the tournament so far.
He also noticed that many of the eliminated trainers were having practice battles as entertainment for the spectators before the main battles. These battles were on camera to.
Eventually Ash's eyes locked on 1 of the camera men. He recognized him as his video enthusiast and film maker he met during his travels in Unova. Ash ran over to catch up with an old friend.
"Hey Luke, is that you?" Said Ash as he approached the man with the camera. He turned around with a smile across his face.
"Hey Ash, long time no see." Answered Luke.
"So are you Filming the battles to?" He asked.
"You bet. This is one of the biggest tournaments in the world. A documentary on this will make the Nimbassa town battle tournament look like children's pop-up book."
"Sounds awesome Luke. I'm sure it will look great."
"Speaking of Ash, you were really good in your 1st round battle. I was amazed that you could perform so well in a highly competitive competition."
"Thanks Luke, but that's nothing. I plan to win the whole thing."
"Hahaha. Dreaming big as always." Said Luke.
"Of course. How else can you expect to be great." As Ash said this the rest of the gang finally caught up with him.
"Hey Luke it's so good to see you." Said Iris as she saw the familiar film maker.
"Ash you know him?" Asked Brock.
"Yep. Brock, Misty, May, Max, Dawn, Tyler, Tracey and Gary meet Luke. He is a film maker that we meet at the Nimbassa town battle tournament and at Virbank city. He even won a directing competition to make a movie with pokestar studios."
"Oh yeah how'd that go Luke." Asked Iris.
"The film was a huge success. But I think that it could have been better. I'm sure that my best films are ahead of me."
"Yeah, that's the spirit Luke." Said Ash.
"So Ash." Began Luke. "Can I get you to…"
Alright! It is now time for the todays matchups!
Everyone's attention was turned to the big screen as 64 remaining pictures were shuffled until only 16 were displayed against each other.
Aaron vs. Noland
Snattle vs. Roxie
Sidney vs. Lance
Luke vs. Barrett
Shauntel vs. Tyson
Antonio vs. Olly
Volkner vs. Jamie
Wallace vs. Skrub
Everyone turned to Luke as they saw his picture up on the battle screen.
"Luke, you're entering to?" Asked Iris.
"You bet. To get more experience at filming battle scenes, I need to get more experience actually battling. The battles are much more exciting if they look as real as possible."
"Makes sense." Said Brock.
"So Ash, would you mind helping me again, and film my battle for me?" Asked the film maker.
"Sure thing Luke. You can count on me." He said.
"Hey guys look. Jamie is battling today to." Said Max.
"Oh yeah. How'd I miss that?" Said Tyler.
"And he is going to face the Sunnyshore city gym leader Volkner." Said Brock.
"Well Jamie has beaten Volkner before during his Sinnoh league journey. But that was well over 3 years ago." Informed Tyler.
"And who knows what Volkner can do now since we've seen him." Said Dawn.
"As for Luke, looks like his opponent is some guy named Barrett." Said Gary.
"No problem. Luke can handle him right?" Said Ash.
"Sure thing. I'm not going to go down this quickly. Make sure you get this battle Ash. It's going to be spectacular." He said.
"You got it Luke. Good luck."
Luke ran off to prepare for his battle while Ash started filming the competition. The rest of the gang stayed in that spot of the bleachers and watched the 1st battle between Sinnoh Elite 4 member Aaron vs. Factory Brain Noland, except Gary who was typing away on his laptop.
"An elite 4 member vs. a frontier brain. Sounds like a tough match." Said May.
"I'll root for my home region elite member Aaron." Said Dawn cheerfully.
"Nah, I've got to go with Noland. Aaron uses mostly bug types and Noland still has his Articuno." Said Ash while filming the battle with the video camera on his shoulder.
"Hey Ash, is your friend Luke any good." Asked Gary as he looked up from his laptop.
Everyone turned around and looked at the upcoming pokemon professor.
"Uhhh, he is a pretty good battler, why?" Asked Ash.
"Well he better be. His opponent Barrett is one of the highest ranked trainers in the Unova region. Actually, he's in a position where he could challenge Alder if he wanted to."
"Alder? Who's Alder?" Asked May.
"May, Alder is the Unova region champion. His pokemon are really strong." Said Dawn.
"Exactly. Basically, he is the 2nd ranked trainer in all of Unova." Continued Gary.
Tyler just sat there a little grumpy. No one bats an eye when he beats 2 elite 4 members, but they get all serious when they see some guy who can't seem to beat Alder. Yet none of them seem to take him (Tyler) seriously.
"So that means, Luke is in big trouble." Said Brock.
"Nah, I think he'll be fine." Said Tyler.
"Thank you Tyler. See? We believe in him. Luke will need the support of you guys to." Said Ash to the rest of the group.
"Yeah, your right Ash." Said Iris.
"I'm sure Luke will do great." Added May.
"I hope that he'll be okay." Brock thought to himself.
"I'm still not so sure." Thought Gary as he looked on the laptop screen and all about Barrett.
