As Ash and co met up with Jamie again they started to congratulate him over his round 2 victory.
"Great battle Jamie, congratulations." Said may.
"That was smart winning the match with 2 1 hit KO moves. A guaranteed victory." Said Max.
"Meh, I was going to win either way." Jamie replied.
"Well it was a really awesome battle." Said Brock.
"Oh that reminds me, Jamie we would like to see a battle between you and Tyler." Said Ash.
"Me and Tyler? Why?"
"Because I can tell that both of you are really strong trainers. I'm sure it would make a great battle."
"Hmmmm, I'm not sure Ash."
"Well at any rate I'll bet that everyone is tired. Why don't we go back to the pokemon centre and have some dinner." Suggested Brock.
"Sure, that sounds like a great idea." Said May.
"Jamie. Would you care to join us?" Asked Brock.
"Uhh, yeah. Sure I guess."
"Well then let's head back." Said Brock.
Once the gang got back to the pokemon centre they were treated to a delectable feast courtesy of Brock. As they were eating they chatted about various things such as the rest of round 2, Jamie's past journeys and experiences, how Misty was doing at the gym and how Dawn and May's Contests were going. After dinner was over most of them either turned in or went back to their rooms for research (Gary).
The only ones left were Ash, Tyler and Iris as they were contemplating on what to do now.
"Hey Tyler. Where did Jamie go?" Asked Iris.
"I think he left to go back to the stadium." He replied.
"What why? Wouldn't the stadium be closed?"
"It's not that late. There might still be some practise battles happening."
"Okay, so what do you say we go check them out to." Said Ash.
"Then let's go." Said Tyler.
The 3 of them walked back over to the stadium to see if any battles were still going on. When they arrived there the stadium was far less occupied unlike how it was during the day. However there were still some scattered people around the stadium watching the battles. Ash looked to his right and saw Jamie high up in the stands leaning over the railing. Tyler and Iris followed Ash up the stairs to Jamie.
"Hey Jamie, what's up?" Asked Ash.
"Nothing. I'm just watching the battles." He replied.
"Why? These trainers aren't as good as you are. Why would you be interested in these battles?" Wondered Tyler.
"I'm not really interested. It's just that seeing these makes me think back till I was only that good. And all the adventures I've had since then."
"Only that good huh?" Said Ash.
"I like coming here every day to watch the carefree, pressure-less battles. It really helps take my mind off the stress of the tournament." Jamie said.
"Oh I see." Said Iris.
"I hear you. Nothing like kicking back relax." Said Ash.
"That's okay. Once I beat you in the tournament you'll be able to relax all you want." Joked Jamie with a goofy grin on his face.
"We'll see." Replied Ash.
"So Jamie what have you done since the Unova League?" Asked Tyler.
"I've spent most of my time back in Blackthorn city training at the gym. So my dragon type pokemon will be especially tough to beat." He said.
"I'll bet." Said Tyler.
"Totally, dragon type pokemon are just the best ever." Said Iris excitedly.
"By the way Tyler, good job beating 2 elite 4 members." Said Jamie.
"Thanks, I just hope that I get paired up with a regular trainer next time."
"Not likely. The further we advance in the tournament the tougher our opponents will be. However you may have an advantage in the further rounds because you are already used to rough competition." Said Jamie.
"Maybe. I'll need all the help I can get if I want to win the tournament." Said Tyler.
"And remember Tyler, we promised to meet in the finals." Reminded Ash.
"You bet." Replied Tyler.
"Well, It's getting late. I'm going to get some rest. See ya." Said Jamie as he started to walk away from the 3 and out of the stadium. Ash looked down to the lit battlefield.
"Remember Tyler, you and me are going to be down there for the final battle." Said Ash as he pointed down to the field.
"You've got it Ash." Said Tyler and they shook on it.
"I can't wait to see a battle like that." Said Iris.
"Well, we should probably get some rest for tomorrow." Said Tyler.
"Yeah you're right." Replied Ash as the 3 of them proceeded to walk out of the stadium back to the pokemon centre.
Jamie was already walking back to the pokemon centre and was almost there when he heard some cackling behind him. He turned around to see figures that were hidden in the shadows.
"What's so funny?" He asked.
"Again is the question, so twerpish indeed! The answer to come as we feel the need! Bringing the blinding white light of evil into the future! Thrusting the hammer of justice down onto the black darkness of th…"
"Yeah, doesn't really answer my question." Jamie said clearly annoyed.
"Hey! Didn't your mother teach you to never interrupt!" Yelled James.
"Taking you pokemon ought to teach you some manners." Said Jessie as she took out a pokeball. "Go Frillish!"
"Teach him a lesson Carnivine!" Yelled James. Carnivine jumped out to join Frillish, but made a U turn to take a bite out of James' head.
"Like for starters it is bad etiquette to munch on other people's noggins." James yelled in pain.
"Go Frillish use bubble beam." "Now Carnivine bullet seed."
As both villains made their commands they looked to see that the boy they wanted to rob was no longer there. They both blinked a few types wondering when he got away from them.
"Huh. He's gone." Said Meowth plainly."
"How dare he have the nerve to interrupt us and then walk away like a coward before he could receive his consequence!" Fumed Jessie.
"Well at least there are many other options of trainers to poach from." Groaned James.
"No. we will get that twerp 1st, you hear me? He will pay for disrespecting me do you hear me?!" Jessie shrieked into the night.
