The 3rd battle that day pitted Pewter city gym leader Brock against Striaton city gym leader Cilan. As expected, Cilan being a user of grass types, chose to battle with Pansage and Stunfisk. Brock knowing he was at a disadvantage against grass types chose to battle with Toxicroak and Crobat. Surprisingly Cilan got an early lead when Stunfisk's electric attacks had put down Crobat. However Brock, not one to give up so easily continued to battle with only Toxicroak. He managed to make a comeback when Toxicroak's poison jab rendered Stunfisk unconscious. Now it was down to a one on one with Pansage vs. Toxicroak.

"I wonder witch one of them will make it to the next round." Pondered Gary.

"It's going to be Cilan or Brock." Said Ash.

"Well I think that Cilan will be the one to win, right Axew?" Asked the budding dragon master.

"Axew!" Said the little green dragon who often hid in her hair.

"Well if you ask me, I'd say that Brock is going to win. He is a great pokemon breeder and as a former gym leader I know he is tough in battle as well." Said Misty.

"Yeah, but don't forget that Cilan is a gym leader too." Pointed out Dawn.

"I guess we'll just have to wait and see." Said Tracey.

Pansage use Solarbeam

Pansage held a orb of pure solar energy in its hand and fired it into a beam towards Toxicroak.

Toxicroak use poison sting

Toxicroak retaliated by firing darts of poison back at the grass monkey. The 2 attacks collided and canceled each other out and Cilan immediately called his next move

Pansage use dig

The grass monkey dug underneath the field and before Toxicroak could react it was hit into the air by the super effective ground type move.

Toxicroak brick break quickly

As Toxicroak descended it hit Pansage square on the head with its forearm. Pansage fell down and collided with the field below face first and was knocked out.

"Pansage is unable to battle, Toxicroak is the winner and victory goes to Pewter city gym leader Brock.

Brock returned his poison fighter and made his way to the middle of the field to shake hands with the pokemon Connoisseur.

"So Brock was the winner after all eh?" Said Gary.

"Wow, Brock sure surprised me. It's hard to believe that Cilan lost." Said Iris.

"It seems Brock has only gotten stronger since we last saw him." Acknowledged May.

"Witch means that Ash, Tyler and Brock have all moved into round 3." Said Max.

After the heated battle the gang decided to return to the pokemon centre for some lunch. Iris decided to stay a little longer as she heard that Draden was battling next. While enjoying their tasty lunch made by Brock at the pokemon centre, the group saw some other trainers rushing around and preparing for their upcoming battles. However one in particular caught the attention of Ash. He wore a dark red cloak and had long grayish blue hair that coverd one of his eyes. Ash recognised him as the winner of the Sinnoh league tournament last year. He just stared at the powerful Darkri trainer has he walked past the table they were eating at and towards the doors.

"Hey Ash, something wrong?" Asked May.

Ash turned his attention back to the people that were sitting around him. Ash let his head down and shook it slightly. "No, I'm fine." He replied.

The others took a loom in the direction that he was just staring in and saw the cloaked man as he walked through the pokemon centre doors

"Hey it's that Tobias guy you've been telling me about." Said Tyler.

"Yeah, it's him." Dawn shuddered a bit as she remembered how strong Tobias was the last time they saw him.

"Tobias…" Brock said to himself. "I don't know how anyone is going to beat him."

"Tyler looked around as he saw the others all look down and he started to get a real intense vibe from the others. By now everyone had heard of how strong Tobias was at the lily of the valley conference. Aside from Ash in the semi-finals, Tobias had won all of his battles just using his Darkrai. Apparently Tyler was the only one out of the loop as he failed to understand what was going through the minds of all his friends over seeing one guy.

"What's up with all of you?" He asked around the table. The continued to give him the silent treatment as they were all too deep in thought.

"Well…" Began Max before he was interrupted by Ash.

"Don't bother." He said to him and he turned to Tyler. "Just watch his battle."

Gary and Brock both seemed to nod their heads in agreement while the others continued to look down. For Tyler this seemed to bring up more questions than answers, but after one last look around the table he decided to let it go and wait to see Tobias's battle.

Ladies and gentleman, it is time for the next battle to begin. Entering is our first trainer, Tobias.

The mysterious trainer walked out onto the battle field with a simple hand wave as the crowd cheered for him knowing how powerful he was.

And his opponent, from the Poketopia island it's Mysterial.

A short man in a magician's outfit with a top hat walked out onto the field. He was only 5 feet tall and had a mustache that stretched out to the ends of his top hat.

What an interesting battle this will be. Both of these competing trainers have plenty of accolades behind them. Tobias was last year's Sinnoh league winner, while Mysterial is the current king of Poketopia. Now it's time to see witch trainer will reign supreme.

"Hey you guy, what's Poketopia?" Asked Max.

"Yeah, I was wondering about that too." Included May. A man beside them that none of them knew answered their question

"Poketopia is an pokemon theme park located just off the coast of the Sinnoh region. Poketopia has a variety of battle arenas around the island, each one in a different kind of environment. Each one of the fields holds battle tournaments daily, so it is the perfect place for some serious training." He said.

"Wow, have you been there before." Asked Dawn.

"Let's just say that I'm quite familiar with that place. He Said.

"But if that Mysterial is the king of that place he's got to be really good." On that note they all turned their attention to the field.

Mysterial acted first and grabbed 2 of his pokeballs. "I'll give you a real show. Snorlax and Kingler!" He called has his 2 pokemon took to the field.

Tobias without a word took 2 pokeballs and threw them out on the field. The balls popped open to reveal the 2 pokemon that Ash had lost to as they both looked strong as ever.

"Darkrai. And Latios." Ash said through his teeth.

"Whoa wait! How can he have pokemon like that?" Tyler jumped in surprise.

"I remember those 2. They showed overwhelming power at the Sinnoh league." Said Brock.

Kingler use x-scissor on Darkrai and Snorlax use crunch on Latios.

Both of Mysteril's pokemon executed flawless attacks as Kingler charged at Darkrai and Snorlax approached Latios.

Darkrai use dark void

Darkrai formed a ball of darkness between its hands and threw it at Snorlax. Snorlax was helpless against it and quickly fell asleep upon contact. This left Kingler alone charging at Darkrai.

Latios giga impact

Latios quickly sprang into action and started to be enveloped in streaks of white and purple and flew right at Kingler. Both made impact head-on as they collided with incredible power. After contact was made Latios flew on through and Kingler was knocked out.

"Kingler is unable to battle." Called the ref.

"What!" yelled Mysterial in shock.

"Holy crap… he knocked out Kingler in 1 hit." Said Tyler.

"You probably wonder why we're not surprised." Said Gary.

Tyler looked out among the rest of them all with straight faces and he finally caught on to what he was missing earlier when the first saw Tobias. So he like the others just continued to watch the battle.

Darkrai dark pulse

Darkrai fired several black rings from between its hands at the sleeping pokemon. The blast was so powerful that even the heavy Snorlax flew back a few feet from the impact.

Snorlax! Open your eyes right now

The 1,000 pound pokemon was just now starting to wake up when…

Latios luster purge

Before Snorlax could get its eyes fully open Latios fired a purple beam from its mouth at it. A huge explosion occurred to reveal Snorlax flat on its back.

"Snorlax is unable to battle, Darkrai and Latios win and victory goes to Tobias."

And that is it. In the blink of an eye Tobias has claimed victory over Mysterial, and will be moving on to round 3.

The crowd roared in excitement over the powerful trainer before them.

Ash and co. couldn't believe what had just happened.

"Whoa." Was all Max could say.

"Not even a king could stand up to him." Said Tracey. They heard the unknown man next to them speak to another man he was sitting beside.

"So, Mysteril is out."

"Well it's all about the luck of the draw." Said the man was sitting next to him.

"Well I guess it's up to the two of us now." He said solemnly.

"Come on. We have work to do." Said the 2nd man as he got up followed by the 1st man.

"Hey, who are you anyway?" Asked Iris. The 1st man that had explained Poketopia to them turned around to address the question.

"I'm a competing trainer. They call me Nitro." He said as he gave a wave of the hand and walked off. He turned to the field and Tobias one last time. "He is really strong." He left.

Gary just continued to stare down at the round 2 winner down on the field.

"Ok I think I get it now." Tyler spoke up. They all turned to look at him. "I've got a lot of work to do to match that level of strength."

"You and me both." Replied Ash.

They all just looked down as Tobias walked out of the stadium as they wondered…
