"Ugg… morning." Tyler had just woken up from his slumber to see a small ray of sunlight peeking in through the curtains directed right at him. He knew he shouldn't have picked the bed on the right wall. It was placed directly across the room from the window. He groaned as he got out of the bed to start the day.
"This sucks." He said to himself. And it was only 6:43 AM.
As he began to collect clothes and such to get ready for the day, the noise he was making woke Ash up from sleep as well.
He glanced at the time. "Wow, you're up early." He said to him.
Tyler looked back at Ash in his bed. "Uh yeah. I just thought I'd get an early start." He told him.
"The light woke you up didn't it?" He asked with a smug face.
"I knew I shouldn't have taken that bed." He said again.
"Sucker." Tyler and Ash looked over to Brock who still had his back to them looking like he was still asleep.
"Well that's just as well, I could sure use some food." Said Ash.
"Now I know what gets you out of bed in the morning." Tyler said to himself.
"If you want I could train with you a bit to help you with your 3rd round battle." Ash offered. Ash had already made it to round 4 so he had nothing better to do.
"Thanks Ash, that would be a big help." Tyler replied.
"But first, let's eat. Ash said as he got up to get dressed.
That day started out like any other during the Driftveil world tournament. After just over 4 weeks they pretty much had a routine down by now. They met Dawn, Gary and the others at the breakfast table in the pokemon center. After they had finished they just hung around the center.
"Only Ash, Tyler and Brock are left right?" Asked Gary.
"Yeah, that's right. Good luck to you all." Dawn told them.
"Ash has already made it to round 4." Confirmed Iris.
"But Brock, Tyler and Jamie all haven't yet." Said Max.
All in good time Max." Tyler told him.
"In the next 3 days there will only be 32 remaining trainers." Brock pointed out.
"Wow. To think Ash, you made it into the final 32, out of the world's best trainers." Said Misty.
"Huh. Now that I think about it, I did." Ash realized.
"That's great. You've come a long way since you just got your Pikachu." Noted Gary.
"Thanks Gary. Now watch me win the whole Driftveil world tournament!" He said excitedly.
"I'll see you there Ash." Tyler said as he got up.
"Whoa, where are you going?" Asked Ash.
"I'm just going to train. I'll be at the stadium later so if I'm battling today be sure to cheer me on." He said to them.
"You bet." Answered Dawn.
"O.K. see you guys later." Tyler said.
"Later." Said Ash as Tyler walked out of the pokemon center.
Tyler walked for about 3 minutes until he reached a park to train in. "Let's see who needs some training." He said as he grabbed 2 balls of his belt.
"Oh, so that's what you came to do." Tyler looked up to see Jamie walking over to him.
"Yeah, so?" Tyler asked.
"Nothing. Just curious."
"What are you doing here?"
"I was told that a group of kids wanted to meet me and that they're my biggest fans."
"Fans of yours, sure."
"Maybe when you start winning some battles you'll get some fans too." Jamie teased.
"Ha-ha. Do you know anyone else still in the tournament?"
"No. Everyone I personally knew has already been eliminated. How about you?"
"Just Ash and Brock."
"Oh yeah. That Ash guy is pretty good, but he's just plain reckless." Tyler couldn't help but snicker even though his friend was the subject of ridicule just because he knew that's just how Ash was.
"Well what about you? Are you battling today?" Tyler asked.
"Don't know yet. I'm going to the stadium later."
"Yeah, me too."
"Evolved Zweilous yet?"
"Not yet, no."
"Man you are talking your sweet ass time aren't you."
"Well I won't say I'm not making any progress." Jamie just rolled his eyes.
"Haze!"
Suddenly a dark mist of smoke bellowed from one side of the park. The smog surrounded Jamie and Tyler and obscured their vision. The began to cough as they choked on the bad air.
"Where is that coming from?" Asked Tyler.
"Again is the question, so twerpish indeed!
The answer to come as we feel the need!
Bringing the blinding white light of evil into the future!
Thrusting the hammer of justice down onto the black…"
"Ug. You again." Jamie interrupted.
"You rotten twerp! You wouldn't let us finish our motto!" Screamed Jessie.
"I heard that junk once." Said Jamie.
"You little…" Seethed Jessie.
"We still haven't finished that 'junk'." Replied James.
"Then spare me." Jamie said.
"Hey, I know you." Tyler said as he finally recognised them.
"Ah yes. We still haven't had a chance to pay you back yet." Jessie told him.
"You've seen them too?" Asked Jamie.
"Last time I saw you guys I blasted you over the tree line." Tyler said.
"And now we're back with a vengeance. Seviper poison tail!" the poison snake that appeared to be the source of the haze attack slithered forward to strike the brothers.
"Block it Metang!" Tyler said as he threw one of his own pokeballs forward. Out of it came out a pokemon with 2 arms and no legs that levitated over the ground. Being a steel type and immune to poison it easily smacked away the poison tail.
"Use psychic!" Tyler commanded. Metang was also part psychic type so it boasted a real advantage over a poison type.
After Seviper was almost down for the count James decided to take action. "Mime jr. teeter dance!" The small psychic type came out and began to do an odd dance that left Metang confused.
"Go Honchcrow, Dark pulse!"
The boss pokemon came out to join the battle. Honchcrow opened its mouth and fired a ray of dark rings at Mime jr. Mime jr. was hit and knocked back into James.
"Oh no! Mime jr.!" James cried.
"Seviper bite!"
Seviper shot forth and bit down on the wing of Honchcrow.
"Heat wave!"
Once Seviper had let go Honchcrow let loose a wave of fire in the direction of team Rocket. Both them and their pokemon were badly burned by the heat.
"You taught your Honchcrow heat wave?" Asked Tyler.
"Unsuspecting right?" Jamie responded. Speaking of unsuspecting, Meowth appeared from behind a bush.
"Come on you dopes, I've got what we came for." Said the cat. Jessie, James and Meowth hopped into an air balloon that seemed to appear out of nowhere. Once inside they flew off into the distance.
"Phew. They're gone." Said Tyler.
"Came here for what?" Jamie asked to no one in particular remembering what Meowth last said. Just then both Jamie and Tyler both heard a weep of sadness. Both of them looked over to see a little 8 year old girl who was weeping in the grass. She looked up to see both Jamie and Tyler looking over at her. With tears in her eyes she ran forward to the boys in a panic.
"Please! You need to help me. That Meowth stole my pokemon!" She cried.
"What?" Tyler asked in disbelief. He could not believe that those thieves would pick on a little girl.
"Please! I want my Roserade back!" She begged.
"Alright." Tyler caved. "I will go after Roserade." He told her. He looked over in the direction team Rocket had flown off in and wondered how he was going to catch them. He then started running in the opposite direction.
"Where are you going?" Jamie asked him.
"I'm going to the police station, so they can catch those crooks." He answered.
"By the time the police get on this they'll get away. we have to chase after them ourselves!" He said.
"Wait, you're going after them?"
"I'm detached, not heartless." He shot back.
"Fine. Let's go!" Tyler said as they both took off into the direction of the balloon.
