Saffron City! Finally! This took some time since it was…difficult to build.

Dan ran past Connor and Liz with Jordan and Luke by his side and he stood above a hill and yelled "We're finally here!"

"Clam down Grapehead," said Liz,

Connor chuckled lightly while from behind them two small Eevees and an Umbreon went to Dan and saw the large city from their view and the Umbreon said "Dang! So this is a city!"

True to word, the group was now at Saffron City, the site of Dan's fourth badge and Liz's third ribbon. Connor closed his book, adjusted his vest and felt his belf for something and then said "Judging from where we are, in a few minutes get ready to meet one of Kanto's biggest cities."

Jayce and his two siblings were still with Dan and were unofficially his since they haven't gotten caught with a Pokeball yet but was always by Dan's side. Animus and Arthus were inside their Pokeballs while Liz carried Fline as she slept in her arms.

The baby Pokemon had fitted right in into the group and was now a part of their little family. A week had passed since Darkus mountain and now they were here at their next destination.

A few minutes of walking later, the group had entered the City and was met by the tall buildings, flashy Pokemon and expensive looking shops. Liz looked around in awe while Fline squirmed in excitement. Connor pushed his shades up while Dan, open mouthed, gaped at the large city.

"Dad only brought me here once and I thought it was big," stated Dan, "but now everything looks bigger!"

Liz nodded and said "This is where mother always brought me for shopping other than Celadon City! It was amazing here!"

"I've been here one or two times," stated Connor,

"What's that?" Dan pointed,

They looked at the tall, high tech needle like structure that stood a couple of feet away. It was as tall as the tallest skyscraper but it wasn't finished. Dan and the others walked up to it and then Connor said "Strange, last time I was here this tower was non-existent."

From outside they saw a familiar scrawny looking man in a military officer's uniform lugging a heavy toolbox. He had difficulty doing it seeing that he was practically thrashing around yet he couldn't lift the box.

Liz raised a brow and said "Hey isn't that Sergeant Fuse?"

The man noticed them, stopped trying to move the tool box and said "Hey!"

The group approached them and then Connor said "Sir, what are you doing here?"

Fuse smiled, pressed his glasses up and said "Working on this beauty,"

The man pointed at the tall structure behind him and said "Say hello to the hope of tomorrow! The Techno Tower!"

Dan looked up and down bored and said "It umm…doesn't look like much."

"Not yet," said fuse with enthusiasm, "this tower will be powered by the neon plasma core that I made! Its not done yet but in a few months you'll see kid. This place will definitely be shocking!"

Connor smirked and said "Where's Lieutenant Surge?"

Fuse laughed nervously and said "He's not with me, he's back at Vermillion but at least I can get to work here but I seem to be having some difficulties."

"We can help you," offered Liz, "what do you need?"

Fuse scratched his head and said "Well I can't carry this tool box and I have to get to the top floor. Elevator isn't even there yet and only way to floor 100 is stairs."

He bent his knees and tried to pull up but he couldn't and he let go breathing heavily and sweating hard. Dan cracked his knuckles and said "Let me have a shot at it,"

Dan bent down and tried but he just slipped and fell to the ground. His amber eyes bored into Liz's as she looked down on him and said "How's that work out for you Dan?"

He rolled his eyes and got back up while Connor said "Allow me,"

Connor leaned down, picked up the toolbox with one hand and raised it with no effort and said "You two get moving and go to the Center. Register, have a snack and whatever, take my Pokemon too and get them patched up would you?"

Connor threw Liz his chain of Pokeballs and said "Get ready for your contest Liz. I'll meet up with you soon."

He walked away while Fuse ran after him and then Dan looked down to see Jayce shaking his head in disbelief as Jack and Jill chased their tails in circles. Jordan snickered while Luke remained stoic but Fline reached with her litte arms trying to get there.

The purple haired boy then said "Let's get moving, knowing Connor he'll take his time."

Liz nodded and then started to walk with Dan as she held Connor's chain of Pokeballs. She noticed there were only five and she said "Hmm, must have been either Animus or Arthus."

As they walked, Dan watched Jayce scold his siblings while Jordan tried to converse with Luke nonstop but the Riolu paid him no attention and walked forward in a trance. Liz eyed them and said "You think you're ready for your gym?"

"Hope so," stated Dan, "I don't exactly have a dark type on me. Cid is part poison so he'll be vulnerable and I really don't have anything superior in type right now."

Liz nodded and then said "My third contest is today too! I think I'll win if I try hard enough!"

"Don't get overconfident Lizzy."

She punched his arm and said "Come on I won two contests in a row and I think I can win this one."

"Just warning you," said Dan, "I thought that too but I lost to my aunt that while back."

She nodded and remembered Dan being so depressed and then he said "I just don't want to see you like me."

She nodded and said "I'll try my best don't worry about it. A princess like me should have what it takes and hopefully enough I do."

"Just watch out," said Dan, "These contests are like my gyms, they don't get easier, they just keep getting harsher and more difficult."

Liz, who was training her Pokemon harder than before, thought about it and remember on as they went on their journey, their battles have gotten more difficult and it was unavoidable and the best thing they could do was to prepare, even with Team Gamma trailing them they still have a lot to watch out for like some unfriendly people who'd stop at nothing to ruin them.

As they approached the center, they walked past the large contest hall and Liz said "Wow! Is everything in this city big? This has got to be the biggest contest hall in the region!"

"It is," said Dan, "Dad told me this is also where they hold the Grand Festival."

Liz grinned and pointed at the stadium and said "Just you wait! This princess here will be joining that Grand Festival!"

Dan smiled and they entered the Center and they saw Nurse Joy hand a girl with long red hair a belt of Pokeballs. The girl had copper skin and intense blue eyes and when she met theirs Liz grinned and said "Hey! Its Quincy!"

The said red head looked at them, smiled and said "Hey guys glad seeing you here."

Dan and Liz walked up to her with the Pokemon and Quincy said "Hey is that your Umbreon Dan? If it is then you have a good chance against Sabrina with her Pokemon being Psychic type and all."

Dan shook his head and said "Nope, he's just well…tagging along."

Jayce snickered while Liz then said "How long have you been here Quincy?"

"Couple of days," replied the girl, "I finally won though and I got a firestone that made Tails into a Ninetails."

Dan looked at the badge as Quincy showed it and said "Got it on my first try but her Alakazam got me on edge and I had to use Jethro to secure the win."

Dan remembered Quincy's powerful Hydregion and then he said "So to have little help, how many Pokemon does she use?"

"It's a one on one match Dan," said Quincy, "I used Jethro since the kid before me lost horribly and I knew none of my new Pokemon could handle something like that so I used him."

Dan pursed his lips and said "Dang, must be some Alakazam."

She looked around and said "So, where's tall, dim and stupid?"

"You mean Connor?" asked Liz, "He's at the tower a few blocks back helping out with something."

"He's here?" asked the teenage girl, "What's he doing here?"

"He said he was the engineer of the Techno tower."

"Cool," said Quincy, "So both of you will head for your own things today?"

"Yeah," said Dan, "Wanna kill some time? Let's find some people to battle with."

"Make it a triple battle then," said Quincy, "Come on Liz it'll be fun."

The royal blood nodded and said "Sure!"

Meanwhile with Connor

As Connor effortlessly climbed up the 91st floor, he hummed a tune while Fuse heaved for air behind him. The young man looked at the older man and said "Do you need a break sir?"

Fuse leaned on the wall with his hand and said "No no just give me a second."

Connor shrugged and they continued on and when they reached the top floor which was as big as a small stadium. It was large and amazing but obviously unfinished. But in the center was a unfinished round mechanical thingy that radiated energy.

Fuse climbed up the last of the stairs crawling and he looked up and said "That's the power core I'm making."

Workers were everywhere and Connor said "What does it do?"

"It's called the Bio Reactant Plasma Core. Call it the BRPC for short. Its mean to make safe energy that could power the entire region of Kanto! Maybe even Johto! Its going to be the star of the techno Tower's opening in a few months!"

Connor dropped the toolbox and said "It's a beauty"

"Its my life's work," said Fuse, "I had designed this thing since I was a little kid."

Fuse gazed at the unfinished core and Connor said "Best I get going"

He nodded and said "Thanks for your help kid, make sure to stop by in a few months!"

Connor nodded and started to descend down the long flight of stairs. As he climbed down the stairs and left Fuse to his work, he felt his pocket and enlarged the single Pokeball he had right now in his hand and looked at it meaningfully as he slowly climbed down.

The ball had a dark and malicious aura around it that sent shivers up his spine but he knew there was a chance for good with this one. Connor clutched the ball and said "Why are you being so difficult?"

The ball shook violently as if it was cursing and yelling at Connor and then the trainer sighed and said "You have to learn how to change your ways. Ones aura such as yours cannot change over night."

The ball shook again but this time Connor stopped in his tracks as he stood on the seventy fifth floor and looked around and heard two people speaking. Being curious as he was he slowly leaned in and heard a tough male voice say "Master Zandred, the inventor now works on the core, as for the girl, she is here in this city."

"Excellent," said a younger voice, "Master would be pleased."

Connor shrunk the ball and slid it in his pocket and closed his eyes and peered through the wall with his senses. He felt two auras of humans; one was younger than the other but both flared with a powerful fire of a seasoned and well trained battler.

He glimpsed into their emotions and felt all sorts of things but from the bigger one he felt a strong sense of battle lust and malice while from the younger one he felt sureness and eagerness.

He stepped back as he heard the younger man said "We must get het as soon as possible. Master demands it. What is her name again?"

The larger man said "Her name is Quincy Gracedia, I have had reports of her battling in the streets."

"Very well Xenon," said the younger man, "if she loves to battle then let's give her one."

The taller man's aura flared as he grinned maliciously and said "Gladly master"

Connor stepped back slowly as he peered again and saw both open a Pokeball each and exit the building as they mounted a Pokemon out the tower. He gripped the railing and said "She's here?! I have to get to her! Now!"

He ran down the remaining steps as fast as he could hoping to reach her in time.

With Dan and the others

The trio stood before the large purple themed building and then Liz said "Didn't you say you'd get here later?"

Dan fist pumped and said "All that battling has got me pumped and I think I got this!"

Quincy had her arms crossed and said "Liz he's right. A trainer works best when his spirit is all time high and I can tell that you can too that Dan is pumped as heck."

Liz looked at Dan where his eyes glittered and he and Jordan fist pumped as fire danced around them. Liz sweat dropped and said "Boys will be boys…"

Dan grinned in anticipation while Luke tilted his head at him unknowing of what he was doing. Jordan jumped on Dan's shoulder while he ran to the door and said "Let's GO!"

He opened the doors and saw a complex looking Gym with all kinds of Psychic Pokemon around. All of them looked at them along with their trainers at Dan who shrunk down with the looks and then a man said "Why are you here?"

"I'm here to challenge the gym leader!" said Dan,

The man nodded and said "She has been expecting you. Follow me but please keep it down."

Dan shushed down while Quincy walked in with Liz. Jack and his two siblings followed Dan while the Psychic types looked at Jayce with some distasteful looks since he was a dark type and he looked so rugged with his scarred eye.

Dan looked in awe as he passed by some battlers and some Pokemon meditating and remembered how Connor meditated. Jayce went up to Dan and said "These guys are lookin at me funny."

"Don't start anything Jayce," said Dan,

More of the Pokemon glared at him while Quincy noticed this and Liz said "Why are they all glaring at Jayce?"

Quincy raised a brow and said "It's common for Psychic types to resent Dark types since they oppose each other."

A pair of Drowzee and a Kirlia gave Jayce a look but the Dark type merely growled and said "Back off"

The Pokemon backed off at his dangerous intent and then as soon as the man came to a stop. Dan looked forward and saw a battlefield and a pretty woman with greenish hair and red eyes sitting on a chair with an Alakazam by her side.

She wore a red velvet dress and purple high heels while green bangles hung on her wrists and she smiled at Dan as she said "I've been expecting you."

"Really?" asked Dan in surprise,

She shook her head and said "Nah, your Dad called and said you'd be stopping by."

Dan, Quincy, Liz and the man sweat dropped and then the man said "Sabrina, a psychic shouldn't be so playful."

"Ease up dad," said the woman as she stood up and said "So I'm guessing you came here for a battle?"

"You got that right!" said Dan,

Sabrina looked at Quincy and Liz and waved as she said "That's nice, you brought friends. Its funny when a couple of years ago you were just a little kid Dan."

Dan blushed and then Sabrina smiled and said "Your friend over there, the red head, I battled her earlier. Quincy was it? You know Dan?"

"He's a friend ma'am" said Quincy,

The psychic nodded and then the Alakazam by her side glared at Jayce and said "You disgusting street wretch, get out of here."

"Why should I whiskers?" barked Jayce,

"Your kind is not welcome here," said the Alakazam, "he is not even your trainer."

"He could be," said Jayce, "your mouth better shut it or I'll do it for you."

"I wouldn't waste my time with filth such as yourself," said the Alakazam, "be on you way scum!"

Jayce growled while Dan said "Woah Jayce, calm down."

Jordan glared at the Alakazam while Luke did the same. Sabrina noticed this and said "Forgive my Alakazam but it seems we have found our contenders for battle."

Quincy nodded and said "It'll be Jayce vs Alakazam wont it?"

Sabrina nodded while the old man went to the referee section and said "The battle between gym Leader Sabrina!"

The gym leader flicked her green hair back and put her hands on her hips as she smiled at the trio and then the referee said "and challenger Dan Ketchum!"

Dan nodded and went to his place while Quincy and Liz sat down on the stands. Dan turned his cap backwards as he grinned and the referee said "Each trainer will use one Pokemon!"

Alakazam flashed in front of Sabrina while Jayce nodded at his siblings while he leapt into the field. He growled at the Alakazam as the two stared down and then the referee said "Alakazam vs Umbreon! Battle Begin!"

"Alakazam use Signal Beam!"

All too quickly, the Alakazam twirled his spoons and put it into an X as a beam of energy shot at Jayce knocking him into the air and falling to the ground hard. Everyone gasped while the Alakazaf scoffed and said "Worthless"

Jayce got up and then said "Not good enough whiskers. I've had worse from an old enemy."

The Alakazam growled while Dan said "Jayce et in with Quick Attack and land a Shadow Claw!"

Jayce sped up quickly and landed a good hit to the Alakazam but then Sabrina said "Quick! Detect and Focus Punch!"

The Alakazam then dodged the Shadow Claw and punched but Jayce blocked it by slashing down with his own claw causing sparks to emit and an explosion ensued that sent both Pokemon flying in different directions.

Jayce got back up and so did Alakazam. Sabrina smiled and said "Your Umbreon is better than I thought. Maybe he does stand a chance."

Dan nodded and said "Jayce has got this. Right buddy?"

The Umbreon nodded as Dan said "Dark Pulse!"

The Umbreon shot a powerful beam of dark energy at the Alakazam but Sabrina crossed her arms and said "Mirror Coat"

The attack was sent back to Umbreon full force but he dodged and Quincy said "Sabrina is good, she knows how to predict her opponent's moves quite well."

"Do you think Dan has a chance?" said Liz,

"Of course," replied the red head, "his unpredictability works well here."

Dan cheered after landing a hit and said "Come on Jayce push through!"

Jayce ran past the attacks and then tackled the Alakazam and then he flipped in the air and threw a perfectly hit Shadow Ball on the Alakazam doing some serious damage. Jayce landed gracefully and smirked to say "Not so tough now huh whiskers?"

Alakazam growled and Sabrina said "Your fate seems great Dan but now it truly begins."

Suddenly from Liz's belt, a Pokeball opened and as she carried Fline, Espeon laid down on the princess' lap and she said "Espeon! What are you doing?"

The Espeon yawned and said "I was bored, oh look a battle."

The Espeon watched Jayce dodge a Focus Blast and fire one of his own and then she said "Hmmm, who is that ruffian?"

Fline giggled and said "That's Jayce! He's nice"

Espeon raised a brow as her tail swished and then Jayce got hit by a solid Hyper Beam sending him back to Dan weakened. The Dark type got up and then said "Not giving up yet!"

Alakazam huffed heavily as Dan then said "Dark Pulse!"

"Signal beam!" called Sabrina,

The two attacks collided and an explosion ensued and from the smoke rushed in Alakazam with his Focus Punch ready but Dan grinned and said "Sucker Punch!"

Alakazam swung down but Jayce disappeared into thin air and before he knew it, the Umbreon had tackled him HARD on the stomach, knocking the air out of him, as he tumbled back and Jayce stood ready as Dan said "Finish it! Pursuit!"

The Umbreon smirked and vanished once more to hit Alakazam from behind and knock him down unable to battle. Jayce slicked his ear and said "I win"

Sabrina smirked while the referee raised his hands and said "Alakazam is unable to battle! The winner is Umbreon and the challenger Dan Ketchum!"

Dan jumped in the air and cheered while Liz got up and cheered too with Fline while Espeon gave Jayce who flicked his drooping ear and then smiled while she raised a brow. Quincy clapped in her seat as she said "He pulled through,"

Dan jumped up and down while Jordan and Luke did the same as Alakazam slowly stood and Jayce smirked and with Sabrina, they approached Dan and then Dan kneeled to Jayce and said "Jayce you know you're pretty cool."

The Umbreon nodded and smiled as Jack and Jill ran over to their brother and said "Thanks Dan, I guess all those years of battling piled up on me."

Dan rubbed his head and said "If you're coming with us why don't you three become my Pokemon? So whenever you're tired you can rest up with your siblings at my Uncle's reserve."

Jayce looked at his siblings play a bit with Jordan and he grinned saying "Well its better you then any other trainer."

Dan nodded while Sabrina coughed in her hand and said "Well Dan, you won. That's a nice Umbreon you have."

He scratched his head nervously and said "He wasn't even mine, he's sort of wild but not anymore."

Sabrina was taken aback and said "That's funny, I sensed your bond as if you trusted each other completely."

Dan smiled while Sabrina held out her hand and held a bronze colored shield like badge and said "Take this, it's the Marsh Badge. Wear it in symbol of your victory at Saffron City."

Dan raised it and said "I won, the Marsh Badge!"

His Pokemon leapt into the air and posed while Liz and Quincy approached him smiling and Quincy said "Hard to believe it but you actually won."

"Too bad Connor didn't see it though," said Dan,

"Where is that guy?" asked Liz as she looked around,

Suddenly, the gym of the roof blew open with a violent explosion as debris fell dwon but Sabrina's Dan threw a Pokeball and said "Xatu! Protect!"

The Flying psychic type burst out of its ball and protected them while the debris fell off and from the hole in the ceiling stood a man in black and white metallic armor while his eyes were covered by a green screen of glass. He stood beside a massive and intimidating Rhyperior. The younger man beside him wore a neon blue jacket open with its hood covering his face while his black shirt hugged his chest, he looked older than Dan and he was a lot taller than him and he looked about 13 and beside him stood a powerful looking Aggron that roared in the air.

Both had a familiar Gm symbol on their arm but then the younger man said "Well redhead, it's about time we found you. Quite a run you gave us but I think its about time for us to take you in."

Quincy glared at them while Sabrina said "Who are you and why are you in my gym?"

The two leapt down and landed gracefully while the two heavy towering Pokemon landed with a loud crash and then the taller man pressed his covered ear and his metallic helmet retracted back to give away a handsome yet sinister looking face with a head of blonde hair and metallic cold eyes while a shiny smiled appeared on his sadistic face.

The younger man pulled back his hood to reveal a head of azure blue hair and his long, thick messy hair hung over his ears while his amused dark blue eyes glittered in an dark way as he smiled in a similar way as his companion.

The young man bowed and said "Why hello there pretty lady, my name is Zandred Lunaros. Apprentice of Lord Eclipse."

The blonde man smiled and said "My name is Xeon, the most powerful of Team Gamma's Lieutenants."

The blue haired guy then said "We thank you for your hospitality but today we come for her."

He pointed at Quincy while she stepped back and said "What?!"

"What do you want with her?" asked Dan,

"None of your business kid," said the blonde, "now master?"

He nodded and said "Aggron Flash Cannon!"

"Rhyperior Rock Wrecker!"
