Chapter 36
It was only him and me, alone in the middle of the meadow. The exact meadow in Neverland that I had restored to its former glory. Where the flowers bloomed in the most vibrant colors; where the the trees grew tallest, where the grass was greenest.
The sunbeams of an early sunrise radiated through the foliage, warming my skin where it shone. The faint sound of birds chirping in the distance woke me from a short doze. My breath hitched as I felt the weight of a strong arm around my waist, the form behind tugging me closer to its body. I eased into the comfortable position, knowing exactly who was holding me.
Peter.
He was tracing invisible lines along the cream-colored skin of my arm, beginning with my shoulder and ending at my hand. After pulling the sleeve of my white blouse, he proceeded to place feather-light kisses on the exposed skin of my shoulder-blade. Enjoying the tingling sensation, I bit my lip and tried to suppress a moan. He only continued on tender spots on my neck, moving his way to my jaw.
Taken with a need, I turned and, gripping the collar of his tunic, I closed the remaining distance between us. There was no gentle caress, or softness in our actions; being separated for too long, the hunger for one another had done this to us. The flame inside me turned into fire and spread out from my chest to the rest of my body, down my arms and legs to the tips of my very being. I needed his kiss, his touch; him more than I needed to breathe. His hand on my waist moved to the small of my back, pushing me even closer to him as my fingers weaved into his hair, slightly tugging it.
With a low groan, he shifted our positions so he was hovering over me. Peter stared at me with a wild look in his eyes as we both took a much needed breath, then he crashed his hungry lips into mine. Wrapping his hands tightly around my wrist, he held them above my head and began rubbing his body against mine.
'Peter. I..need..you..' I managed to slur as he moved his lips to the sensitive skin of my neck, sucking on my pulse point.
'I..need..you, too. I'm sorry.' His eyes met mine, only there weren't his eyes anymore.
They were glowing magical eyes. The meadow around me started to decay, turning everything ugly and dead. The sun had suddenly vanished, replaced by some evil darkness. And he was strangling me.
I woke up, clawing at my neck and face. Tears were falling freely, my screams mixing with the cries and pleas for help and an end to my madness. This nightmare had been haunting me for the past few days, always teasing me in the beginning and ending with me being hurt by Pan.
Pan. I couldn't get him out of my head.
Best you forget about Pan.
I just couldn't get him out of my head. Even though he had left me here, imprisoned me in these caves. Even though he had used me. Made me think he cared for me. I needed him; didn't he see the effect he had on me?
My fingertips longed to touch his skin, I craved to feel his lips move against mine, I wanted to be in his presence. I needed to see his face, his crooked grin, his glinting eyes full of mischief. I simply needed him more than I needed to breathe, and I was going crazy.
I couldn't function without him, couldn't focus or concentrate; not that there was much to do in solitary confinement anyway. But I knew that this need I craved was love, something real; something Pan couldn't offer.
Except I would never admit I loved him, not aloud.
Not ever.
Felix's POV:
Pan had been having been having mood-swings lately, not that I could comment without receiving punishment. For one second he was laughing at jokes with us, then suddenly he had a crazy look in his eyes that if he stared at you, one would cower away in fear. Ever since Wendy had suddenly vanished- not that I minded- Pan started playing a game and set up very strict rules, with the 'discipline' that would follow if you didn't follow them, or as Pan would say, 'cheat'.
No one knew what this game was; he had never told what it was about, only everyone figured it wasn't fun. He went to the extent of explaining what one of the punishments could be: your shadow being ripped off; and demonstrating on some poor animals.
So when one day I had gotten a serious order from Pan, I knew this wasn't playing games; it was a matter of life and death. Some people, important people to his plan, had arrived in Neverland. One was a pirate with a drinking problem, and the other was a boy our age, hiding in the ship. It was essential we bring the boy to camp safely.
Without question, I set out with some other Lost Boys to Pirate's Cove, where in the distance, we could see a ship.
'Remember: we need the boy.' I kept reminding the boys, who sometimes seemed just as crazy as Pan.
As we rowed towards the massive ship, I could see a figure with a hook instead of a hand, watching us. That was the captain of the ship, the Jolly Roger, as Pan had explained.
Without warning, we jumped on the railings and presented ourselves.
'You know who we are.'
'Yes, you're the Lost Ones. You work for him.' The man with the hook motioned to my fellow brothers.
'We're looking for a boy who was seen adrift nearby.' I recited the exact words Pan wanted me to say.
Now where was he?
Peter's POV:
After my most trusted Lost Boy had returned without what I needed for my plan, I was furious. He was still on that boat, with that no-good pirate. Shoving Felix out of my tree house, I began the thrash around, knocking everything out of my way. Books lay strewn around, my table was flipped and glass was shattered everywhere. After pacing back and forth, calming the stormy thoughts- and thus the outside weather, in my head, I had a vision. A very detailed face of the Heart of the Truest Believer.
Not in control of my body, my hands searched for a pencil and paper. With my eyes closed, I sketched whatever features of this boy's face were etched in my mind. As I finished drawing, it hadn't occurred to me why Hook was here. Hadn't I been clear that he wasn't allowed to come back, ever?
Intrigued, I transported myself to the captain's cabin in his Jolly Roger, just as he stepped in.
'Pan.' He sneered and his hand moved to the handle of his sword.
'Is that how you greet a host? My my, Hook, is that good form?' I began to walk around in his room, examining the many trinkets from his countless plunders stacked everywhere.
'What do you want?'
'I want to play a game. Let's call it "Give and Take".' I turned my back to him, seeing as his hand relaxed from the weapon and moved to a rum bottle.
Taking the silence as a question, I explained. 'You give me the boy I know is still here on your Jolly Roger, and you can take one thing you want from Neverland to where ever it is you are headed. Do we have a deal?' I asked as I turned back to face him.
'Why do you want the boy?' Him responding meant he was engaging in the deal, so the edges of my mouth turned upwards into a grin.
The boy was here; right below the room, sleeping.
'He is going to become a Lost One, so he belongs with us at camp. My boys will come pick him up as soon as I'm gone, he'll be off your hands in mere minutes. Now what do you want?'
'Aura. I came for her.' Hook set the bottle down and let out a long sigh.
The name didn't ring a bell, who was this Aura he was talking about? Girls weren't allowed on my island, why would he be looking for one here?
'Well Pan, don't cheat. I know you have her, you took her away from me.' A pained look was in his eyes.
I didn't recall a girl named Aura in my life, let alone seeing Hook since the Dreamshade incident with his older brother. Dreamshade. A perfect lie was forming as I spoke.
'I am very sorry to tell you this Hook, but she died. Dreamshade poisoning. There wasn't enough time to save her.'
'How could you let her die? She...she was special.' He whimpered the last words. Whoever this girl was, she wasn't here in Neverland.
'She is gone.' I tried my best to sound sincere, even though I had no idea who I was talking about.
But something changed in Hook the second I had uttered those words. His quiet sobs stopped and the defeated look in his eyes had been replaced with a hard look.
'I have made up my mind. If love is not the path I should follow, then it will be one of revenge. I...I need to kill someone magical...a certain Dark One,' he proclaimed, talking more to himself than to me.
'Then I will let you stay here in Neverland until you find the thing you are looking for.' I held out my hand, waiting for him to accept.
After a pause, he did and we shook hands. 'The boy is yours.'
Baelfire was mine. I was closer to becoming immortal. I was relieved, except the thought of this unknown girl kept coming to mind. Who was she? Why was she so special…
So...yeah...
Hook went looking for Aura for a long time. He wanted to bring her to a safe haven, far from Neverland and the Evil Queen, and be with her.
Also, I think we only need like two more chapters and we will be seeing Henry and the rest of the gang in Neverland, so...YAY!
God, did any of you see the latest episode of Ouat? *lays down on floor in a fetus position and starts crying uncontrollably*
