Hey everybody,
a new chapter just for you! Hope you like it! Also, thank you for all the favorites and followers and reviews! You readers are the best!
Goodness gracious, I just re-watched the scene where Pan is pinned by Emma and says 'You have fire. I like fire.' and that little breathy chuckle he does, I just die every time. *melts*
Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Once upon a Time, just the crazy ideas in my head that I incorporated into this story.
Chapter 40:
Aura's POV:
The cries and wails of children woke me up. My thoughts went to all the Lost Ones who were lost; abandoned by parents and loved ones; those who ended up with Pan. How terrible these children must've felt; not ever being able to grow up, damned to spend the rest of eternity with that demon, never again feeling the warm touch of a mother…
What was my mother like? Was she kind and good? I couldn't remember anything about my time before I came to Neverland; I didn't even know the color of my mother's eyes. Conjuring a mirror in front of me, I tried to imagine how my mother must've looked like.
But the person staring back at me wasn't the person I was expecting. As I inspected my reflection, gently touching the hollow under my eyes I had gotten from many sleepless nights or days, the broken girl with matted golden hair and dull green eyes did the same. Tracing the light scars on my face, a result of scratching my face too many times, I tried to use the healing my heart possessed to make my skin flawless, but to no avail.
Frustrated, I let the mirror fall to the stone floor, the glass breaking into a thousand chips. 'Not so fair after all.' I remarked, thinking of the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs fairytale that was most likely lying around in some stack of books.
Falling onto the soft pillows, I felt a strange ache in my chest area. From then on, I cried myself to sleep every time. Not because I wasn't beautiful and flawless anymore, it was because my heart; the one thing that made me special, was now useless. Broken.
Peter's POV:
It wouldn't be long before the sound of crying children would wake the Saviour and bring her to me. If only she would stop denying what she really was and acknowledge it: a Lost Girl.
'You hear that, too? You're Emma, right? Wonder why they can't hear the crying.' There was something strange about her; not the person herself, standing in front of me, but her appearance - it intrigued me. Her blond hair, her complexion; it reminded me of someone.
'Who are you?' She pointed her poor excuse for a sword at me.
'Oh...did I forget to introduce myself? I'm Peter, Peter Pan.'
Before I knew it, she had me pinned against the tree I was standing in front of, her sword against my throat. 'Where's Henry?'
'You've got fire. I like fire.' Letting out a chuckle, I vaguely remembered saying the exact same words a long time ago.
'Where's my son?' Emma responded urgently.
'Henry's still alive, if that's what you're worried about.'
'Why the hell did you take him?'
'He's a very special boy, Emma...'
'I know. That still doesn't answer the question: What do you want with him?'
'I came here to see who I was up against; the Savior. Got to say I am not disappointed.' I dodged her question, again.
'What are you gonna say now? That I'm never going to see my son again?' Well, most definitely not after I have his heart in my body.
'No, I'm going to help you find him. I'll give you a map.' She let me go, so I took the piece of parchment out of my tunic and held it to her. 'A map that will lead you straight to your son.'
'I swear, if this is some kind of trap...'
'I may not be the most well-behaved boy on the island. but I always keep my promises. The path of finding Henry is on this map.'
'Why are you giving it to me?' Her mistrustful look was refreshing compared to her son's, the one with so much hope and belief.
'See, it's not about finding Henry. It's about how you find him. And Emma, you're the only one who can.' Also, I could use the extra time she would give me by solving this puzzle; playing my game.
With a still skeptical look on her face, she took the parchment from my hand, our skin touching for a second. There was definitely a lot of magic running through her veins.
'It's blank.' She looked up from the unfolded map, unamused.
'You will only be able to read that map, when you stop denying who you really are.'
And with that, I vanished.
For some reason, meeting Emma had made my heart beat uncontrollably. I was sure it wasn't because of her, but maybe the person she reminded me of. Someone that made my heart beat erratically. Someone with long golden hair.
That weird ache in my chest made itself present; and with it, a strange pull towards the Echo Caves.
As I felt my knees hit the edge of the bed, I fell and landed softly, breaking our kiss and leaving a girl standing, a wild , lustful look in her eyes.
'Viridian green. Full of fire. I like fire.' I propped up on my elbows.
The memory passed, but the flush of my cheeks and a tightness in my pants didn't. Maybe it was the loneliness as a man for over a hundred years, the hunger for heat and touch that made me feel this way. Although I knew deep down, it was a yearning for that girl with long golden hair and viridian green eyes.
So...yeah...Pan is gonna remember eventually...but let's tease him first...you'll see what I mean in Chapter 41...:)
