Chapter 55
Aura's POV:
I woke up in his arms; a warm feeling spreading through my insides at how different and comforting this was. He was still here; he hadn't abandoned me to the Echo Caves like last time.
The few moments of peace gave me enough time to study his face; how calm and carefree he looked in sleep. Even though his eyes were closed, I knew exactly where each little speck of light blue that dotted them were. I brushed the disheveled brown hair from his forehead, and planted light kisses from his brow, down his nose to his full lips, swollen from last night's action. Stirring from his cat-nap, the edges of his lips curled up to a lazy smile.
'Peter.' My lips brushed his ear while I moved to lie on him, my hips rolling slowly against his.
He inhaled sharply, his eyes opening immediately as his hands moved to the small of my back, pressing our naked bodies even closer. Then all of a sudden, he became distant; his arms going limp and falling to his sides. He must've zoned out of reality. Seconds later, Peter sat up, enveloping me in an overwhelmingly affectionate embrace.
'I know how to make you completely happy.'
'How is that possible if I already am?' I truly was happy; satisfied. I had made my decision. I chose to never to look back.
'I know that you will always long to be with your brother,' Peter began. 'There is a way you can be with me, and with Felix. I just need to get my hands on the sleeping curse the Evil Queen used. Then we start over, a new life in a new Neverland.' Stealing a quick kiss, he got up, and with a wave of his hand, Peter was fully clothed.
'But first, I'll make you eggs in a basket.' He disappeared to the kitchen with a wide grin, and soon after, the smell of homemade food filled the cottage.
Manifesting comfortable Neverland attire, I followed the aroma that caused my stomach to growl. Sitting by the table, I noticed the case in which I kept Peter's original heart and another box with carvings. Somehow, they were back here when I was so sure I had left the beating organ down by the cave. Interrupting me mid-thought, Peter set a plate of breakfast right in front of me.
'We'll have to leave for camp soon.' He sat across from me and took a bite of the bread.
'Emma and her group already invaded it,' I responded, fully aware that Peter knew I had gone to camp.
'That they did, and I still have a game to finish. See, Henry's magical heart needs to adjust to my body. I can feel everything he felt; I have access to all his memories, but the powers of the Heart of the Truest Believer still need time.'
'But you have feelings on your own account?' A slither of doubt crossed my mind, but he quelled it easily.
Walking over to me, Peter cupped my cheeks gently and placed a tender kiss on my lips.
'Even when I won't have a heart beating inside of me, my feelings will never change for you, Aura.'
We trekked along a dirt path back to camp, a leather bag with Peter's heart pressing against my back and our hands entwined.
Everything was various shades of darkened black and snarls of dangerous-sounding creatures made me vigilante; always glancing past my shoulder furtively. Peter, on the other hand, seemed dead-set on our goal and ignored the surroundings. The path split, one way leading to camp, the other to...
'Pixie Hollow. You go ahead to camp, I'll catch up with you.' He made the weird stone box from breakfast appear in his hands.
I couldn't shrug off the feeling that something was about to go wrong, so I waited until Peter's form faded in the distance, his clothes matching the green foliage; and heeding my instincts, I followed him.
Felix's POV:
As I regained consciousness, my thoughts immediately shot to my sister. Had she escaped? Was she safe? There was a drawing in my hand; a picture of me lifting her up in the air, heart-warming smiles on our faces, a small heart in the corner of the page. No doubt this was her gift to me, a goodbye present.
These people, amongst them Baelfire, had my hands tied as well as everyone else's and seated me next to the campfire. They were quietly discussing their further plans on how to rescue Henry and where to find Pan. He had managed to manipulate the boy into giving him his heart willingly. Pan had also managed to ruin my sister, yet she still kept running back to him; even after all his wrongdoings.
'You won't talk, how about I make you talk?' The dark-haired woman gripped me by the collar, the threat not affecting me; there were far more important things on my mind.
Just before the woman could do anything, the woman with long blond hair interfered. She reminded me so much of Aura; it pained me.
'Regina, I don't think torture is going to help here. Look at these kids, they've been through hell and back. You need to try something else.' She argued with a fire. That fire so reminiscent of my sister's.
'We tried the cute and cuddly way; they don't respond to reason. What else do you have to offer?'
'What every kid wants: a mother.'
'...the mother took-' She recited the beginning of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, but was interrupted.
'What's a mother?' Tootles asked, interest glinting in his eyes.
'A mother is someone who guides you through life; is always there you. Someone who comforts you when you're sad, and forgives you for any mistakes. A mother loves you unconditionally.'
I had never really known my mother; she had passed away when Aura was born. But I had a sister, someone who comforted me. Someone who loved me and I loved back. And for the third time…I had lost her.
'Listen to me, we're not going to hurt you. I know you are loyal to Pan; and I get that. You are making a terrible mistake. For a long time, I thought I was never going to find my family. I was an orphan, like all of you. A Lost Girl. And I am reminded today that I that I am not alone, that I have a lot of people who love me. I never thought that was going to happen. If that can happen to me, it can happen to you.' The blond woman knelt down, reaching eye-level with the Lost Ones. Pleading with them.
'Pan doesn't care about you; we do. And we can save you! We can take you home with us, to our land.'
We were Lost Boys, the last inhabitants of Neverland. We wouldn't just leave. I knew for sure if Pan was staying, Aura would be staying on the island, and if I went with Baelfire and his group, I would never have my chance at a happy ending…
Not without my sister.
So...yeah...we are slowly coming to an end...I am not sure how I feel about that...
