I stand for a moment, enjoying the feel of the soft sand beneath my bare feet. Rolling the bottom of my jeans up until they are just above my ankles I then make my way towards the water's edge. Christian and Elliot follow, whilst Mia and Hannah are just ahead. I let the water wash over my feet and then walk along the beach as it laps at my ankles.

'Feeling good.' Christian says.

'Yes.' I mutter.

'Will you play and sing it for us later?' Christian asks.

'Elliot's here.' I mutter.

'So, you'll have to play in front of people at the wedding. It might be best to get Elliot out of the way with now.' Christian says gently.

'He might tease me though.' I say.

'I doubt it. Matt you're too good to be teased over this. It will shock him.' He says.

'I'll think about it.' I say quietly.

'Come, let's catch up with the others. I like Hannah's necklace, is that the one you bought the other day.' Christian says.

'Yes.'

'She likes it, when you're not around and she talks about you she plays with it absentmindedly between her finger and thumb.' He says and smiles at me.

I grin back at him and say. 'I know it's probably not as expensive as the jewellery that you buy Ana but I liked it and knew Hannah would too.'

'Hey just do whatever you're comfortable with.' He says.

'Do you reckon Elliot is romantic with Kate?' I ask.

'When have you ever known Elliot to be romantic?' Christian asks.

'Never.' I say with a smirk as we approach the others.

'Have you two put the world to rights?' Mia asks.

'Yes, just catching up with things.' Christian says. I take hold of Hannah's hand and walk with her whilst my siblings mess about together in the shallow waves. Hannah stops to take some photos.

'Go and join them Matt, I want pictures of the four of you together.' She says and I do as she asks. As I approach I kick up the water covering Elliot.

'Matt, only you could do that.' Elliot says with a growl. 'You've tormented me since the minute you could talk and walk.'

'And I haven't finished yet.' I say cheekily as I scoop up the seawater with my hands and propel it towards him. I dance about in the waves as he tries to get me back. Christian and Mia watch affectionately with smiles on their faces.

'Come and help me you guys, otherwise this little shit is never going to learn.' Elliot says. I laugh at him.

'You can't catch me.' I say as I turn and run.

'Matt, no.' Christian says with warning in his voice. I stop and turn to look at him. 'That's enough tonight, let's turn back towards the house.'

'Spoilsport.' I mutter, but he just narrows his eyes at me.

'If that's what you think then carry on but you won't be in a fit state to surf with us tomorrow, in fact you'll probably have to spend the day in bed again.' Christian says. Mia touches my arm gently and then hugs me.

'Listen to Christian.' She says. 'You don't want to wake up tomorrow feeling how you did this morning.'

'Sorry.' I mumble and put my head down as I start to walk back across the beach towards the house.

'Hey, wait up.' Elliot says running behind me. I stop and turn. He's grinning at me. 'Autumn break is going to be good with you back to full fitness. I can get you back then.' I shrug and put my head down. 'What's the matter little bro?' he asks as he puts his arm around my neck and ruffles my hair. I look up and smile.

'Frustrated. I want to do so much and can't. I wanted to be messing about with you and Christian this afternoon and just now when I had to stop otherwise I won't be fit for anything tomorrow. I just want to be back to normal.' I say.

'Matt, this time last week you were stuck in hospital after scaring us all, today we're walking on a beach together on a beautiful day.' Elliot says. 'Next time we're all here together you'll be a lot fitter and healthier and we can have fun then. Please don't go into one of your brooding, depressive moods but look on the bright side. After tomorrow you'll still be here with your beautiful girlfriend.'

'And Mia.' I say.

'Shall we take her back with us?' Elliot asks.

'No, she's fine here. Actually she's been good for me and she's company for Hannah when I sleep.' I say. 'You're right I should look on the bright side and everything that is good at the moment. I feel totally relaxed here, away from the outside world in my own little bubble.'

'Matt, you're one of those people that is always in their own little bubble.' Elliot says with a smirk. 'Have you got a playstation or xbox here?'

'No xbox and the game things I did notice are probably the same ones that were here for you and Christian to play on. Something called Nintendo 64 and …' I say before he interrupts.

'Oh cool, hey Christian the Nintendo 64 is still here, shall we see if we can still play that Mario game later.' Elliot says.

'Yes that would be good, Matt do you want to do anything first?' Christian asks and arches his brow. I know what he wants me to do and I smile shyly before nodding at him.

'I think I'll play the piano for a bit, why don't you go and get the beers and wine?' I say.

'OK, juice for you?' Christian says.

'Please, I'll meet you in the living room.' I say and head off alone as the others go to the kitchen first. I settle myself at the piano and play a few happy tunes before starting to play and sing 'Feeling Good'. Once again I'm in my own world and not aware of anyone else in the room. As I finish I look up. Hannah has tears in her eyes again, Mia is holding her hand. Christian has his back to me but Elliot is sat looking shocked. He stands and goes to the terrace and Christian follows him. I gulp, then stand to follow them. Elliot now has his back to me, hands resting on the low wall. Christian is stood next to him, talking in a low voice so that I can't hear. He puts an arm round his shoulder and Elliot turns to hug him. Shit what have I done. I stand wide eyed and Christian shakes his head so I go back inside. I go back and sit at the piano and start to play one of the sad haunting tunes. Mia looks up, shocked by the sudden change in the music. She makes her way over to me and puts an arm round my shoulder.

'What's happened?' she asks quietly as I continue to play.

'I don't know but I think Elliot was crying, I've never seen him cry. Did I do that to him?' I say and put my head down once more and continue with the tune. Mia leaves me in my world and I'm soon lost again. When I look up eventually Christian is sat watching me.

'Elliot.' I whisper.

'Go and talk to him, he's still outside on the terrace.' Christian says. I look at him with wide eyes. 'Don't be scared, go to him.' I nod and stand and walk slowly across the room. Outside Elliot is sat on a chair staring at the ocean, beer in hand. I go and sit on the chair next to him.

'Elliot.' I say and he turns to look at me. There are still tears in his eyes. I breathe deeply.

'How have you kept that a secret all this time?' Elliot asks.

'I thought people would tease me.' I say.

'Matt, no. You are so good.' Elliot says and I look into his eyes. He is being truthful.

'But I've upset you.' I say.

'Matt the first time I heard that song being sung as well as that I must have been about four though I didn't appreciate it. We were on holiday in London with your mommy and daddy. I was an only child then. Hearing you today brought back so many memories, your daddy used to sing it lots. London, here, Bellevue, Paris, Sydney and your villa in Spain. I've heard him sing it at all the houses. It was almost like he was in the room with us today, you're as good as if not better than he was.' Elliot says.

'No.' I whisper.

'Yes.' Elliot says back. 'Has mom heard you sing before? She's never mentioned it.'

'No, I've agreed to sing at Christian and Ana's wedding. I was going to surprise her.' I say.

'Please sing to her before that. Don't let her be shocked on the day, if she feels like I do then she'll get upset.' Elliot says. 'Oh and break it to her gently first, I was so shocked when I first heard you.'

'Sorry.' I say quietly. 'I thought you would tease me.'

'No Matt. I might tease you about a lot of things but not this.' He says.'Will you sing it again now?' I shrug. 'Please, I'd really like to hear it again. I'll appreciate it more this time.'

'OK.' I say and stand. He follows me and as I sit down he leans on the piano to watch. As I'm halfway through he is joined by Christian, Mia and Hannah. As the song comes to an end Elliot walks round the piano. I stand and he hugs me and we're joined by the others in a group hug.
