Christian picks up a controller and starts to help Elliot with the game. I flop on the sofa in between them.

'Enjoy the air?' Elliot asks with a smirk on his face.

'Yes thanks.' I say even though my head is buzzing with everything that I've discovered.

'Would you both mind if I went to the mall briefly with Mia and Hannah in the morning? They want my opinion on something they want to buy. We should be an hour at the most.' Elliot says.

'That's good with me, I've got some work that I need to deal with and it should take me about an hour or so.' Christian says.

'I'll probably be asleep so I'm fine with that as well.' I say.

'You can take Ryan and Andrews with you.' Christian says to Elliot and then adds to me. 'I'll get Taylor and Sawyer to check out Jonty's place for you.'

'Thanks.' I say and he gives me a small smile. This will mean the house will be empty so he can phone dad and we can then do what we need to without anyone knowing.

'I think you need to go to bed now.' Christian says.

'Christian, Matt's an adult now. He can decide what time he goes to bed. He doesn't need us babysitting him.' Elliot says.

'Elliot its fine. I'm pretty tired and need to sleep.' I say. 'I'll see you both tomorrow. Good night.'

'Good night.' They both say.

'I can't believe you said that and he just did what you told him.' I hear Elliot say to Christian.

'He just needs some guidance at the moment, he's dealing with so much and he needs our help. I think that's why he's been so ill today, he was up until the early hours. When we get back we'll need to phone him just to remind him to sleep.' Christian says. I'm satisfied with Christian's answer and don't hear Elliot's reply as I start to climb the stairs. Automatically I enter my old bedroom. I open the closet, it's empty as I expected it would be. I lie on the bed and smile at the stars that glow on the ceiling. I wonder if mommy and daddy put them above every bed that I slept in. With my thoughts I fall asleep.

When I wake the sun is streaming in the window. I feel more relaxed than I've felt for a long time. Looking at my watch it already ten o'clock, shit I've slept for almost twelve hours straight through. I bounce out of bed and make my way downstairs. Christian is sat on the terrace reading a paper, he looks very relaxed as well.

'Good morning, sleep well?' he asks.

'Yes.' I say.

'Good. You've got some making up to do.' He says. I look at him puzzled. 'Hannah is upset that you didn't share a room with her last night.'

'Shit, I just fell asleep. I better go and find her.' I say and turn.

'It's too late, she's already gone out with Elliot and Mia.' Christian says.

'I need to call her then to apologise.' I say worriedly as I take my blackberry out of my pocket.

'Matt, it's OK. I explained to her that you sometimes just fall asleep wherever you are and she looked in on you but didn't want to disturb you.' He says gently.

'I'm not very good at this boyfriend thing. I've just neglected her.' I say as I sit down opposite Christian. I rest my elbows on the table and put my head in my hands.

'Matt, Hannah is good. She's happy spending time with Mia at the moment. She knows it's going to take a while for you to recover from this illness and operation. Concentrate on yourself and your health, the rest will fall into place.' Christian says.

'You think so.' I say.

'I know so and the other thing I know is you need to eat.' He says.

'OK, I'll go and find something.' I mutter.

'Not ice cream.' He says and raises his eyebrows at me. 'I know you, if you can't be bothered with anything you'll find the easiest thing which is to lift the ice cream carton out of the freezer.'

'Have you eaten?' I ask.

'Yes, we all ate together a couple of hours ago.' He says. 'Mrs Richards might still be around.'

'OK, I'll go and look.' I say. 'Did you call dad?'

'Food.' He says and puts his head back in the newspaper. He's so frustrating at times. I stand and make my way back into the house in the direction of the kitchen. I get distracted by the sight of the piano and find myself sitting on the stool and starting to play.

'Very good, but it's not food.' Christian says as I finish the first tune. I turn slowly, wondering if he's angry with me.

'Sorry, I thought you'd still be outside.' I say and smile at him in the hope to win him round.

'Kitchen now, I'll escort you.' He says.

'Why aren't you angry?' I ask.

'I'm trying to stay calm, you won't eat if I get angry with you but you do frustrate me.' He says.

'I just get distracted.' I say as I open the fridge. Mrs Richards is not around. 'What did you have for breakfast?'

'Bacon, sausage, eggs, hash browns, pancakes, fruit.' He says.

'You should have woken me.' I mutter as I take the eggs out of the fridge. I set about making an omelette as Christian watches me.

'You know you need to sleep.'

'But now I have to make my own breakfast.' I mutter grumpily.

'Hey what's with the bad mood?' He asks.

'I don't know, I was happy and relaxed when I woke up.' I say moodily. 'I might be better once I've eaten.' I take the juice carton out of the fridge and pour a large glass before helping myself to a bowlful of the fruit salad.

'Are you eating outside?' Christian asks. I nod. 'Ok, I'll help you carry it out.'

'Thanks, the omelette is nearly ready. I'll be out soon.' I say.

'I'll wait for you.' He says as he sits on one of the bar stools.

'Do you want me to make you anything?' I ask.

'No, I'm good.' He replies.

'Ok, let's go outside.' I say as I serve the omelette up on my plate. Christian stands and I follow him. He sits opposite me at the table and picks up the paper to read once more.

'So did you call dad?' I ask when I'm half way through.

'Yes.' Christian says.

'And.' I say. 'You think I'm frustrating, you should look at yourself. It's no wonder I got in a bad mood.'

'Yes I called dad.' he says with a smile. 'Eat your food and then we'll discuss what we're going to do.'

'I'm almost finished.' I say as I pick up the fruit salad.

'Are you going for a swim this morning?' He says changing the subject. I scowl at him.

'Maybe. What time are you flying home?' I ask.

'About six. There's plenty of time to swim and surf later.' He says.

'Even if we have other stuff to do.' I say.

'I can deal with the other things while you sleep, as long as you're happy with that.'

''I've finished eating now so you can tell me what you and dad want to do.' I say.

'Matt, it's just an idea. You have to be the one that decides whether to go ahead with it.' Christian says gently and I look at him cautiously. 'OK, I spoke to dad but I didn't tell him where we found the songs. I didn't even tell him about the banks accounts. I think he was relieved that the songs had been found, he thought they would be here somewhere. He suggested that if you wanted to take them home so that you can go through them in your own time then we should photo copy them today. I then take the originals back home with me and put them in the safe at Escala. You can then bring all the photocopies back with you or you can leave them here if you want.'

'OK, we'll do that. We'll photocopy the bank account details as well and you can take the originals of those and you can take the gold bars for you and Elliot. I'll bring mine and Mia's. Shall we go and get everything now, wait have we got a photocopier?' I ask.

'Yes, there's one in your daddy's study. Do you want to get your backpack or should I get my messenger bag?' he says.

'Both, we'll put all paperwork in your bag and the gold in mine and then we'll sort it out together in the study.' I say. I stand and he follows as we head upstairs for the bags. I empty whatever is in mine into an empty drawer and then meet Christian on the landing. He smiles at me as we head back downstairs and into the garden.

'Have you got the key?' I ask.

'Yes, I slept with it and it hasn't left my side.' He says.

'Once we've cleared out the safe and checked the filing cabinet shall we leave the keys in there as they were?' I ask.

'If you want, or you can take them with you.' Christian says.

''I'll see what I feel like when we leave.' I say.

'Can you type the code in?' Christian asks.

'You can do it, it's just my date of birth.' I say to him as he's the nearest. He punches the numbers but nothing happens.

'It's not working.' He says as he tries again.

'Are you sure you've done it right?' I mutter. 'Here let me try.' I take over and punch the number in and the door opens. 'You do know when my birthday is don't you?'

'Yes, it didn't work.' He says. I smile at him. 'What are you smiling at?'

'You didn't think like my daddy, he's English, you're American. They do their dates differently, date, month, year rather than month first. I didn't even think about it the other day I just did it automatically.' I say.

'Matt, you're American as well.' Christian says quietly.

'I know but subconsciously I seem to be remembering things that he said. His word for jelly was jam and he always put his rubbish in the bin rather than the trash He walked on the pavement instead of the sidewalk.' I say and Christian smiles at me.

'I remember, he called chips crisps and fries chips and a truck he would call a lorry.' Christian says.

'Yes and he always parked in a car park rather than parking lot and he would ask if I wanted an ice lolly instead of a popsicle. It was the postman that came to our house instead of the mailman. Theres loads of differences and it's only the last few days that I've been thinking about them.' I say as I click the button underneath the desk and then move the wall. Christian unlocks the filing cabinet and I key in the code to open and get the other set of keys before moving to the cupboard and the other safe. Once it's open we work together in silence emptying the safe and loading its contents into the bags. When we've finished I lock the safe and cupboard and move to the filing cabinet. The few files that are stored in here I put in my backpack. Christian checks the desk.

'Matt, what do you want me to do with the power ranger?' Christian asks. I look at him and then put my head down as I think.

'Leave it there for now.' I say eventually. 'There seems to be one in the top drawer of every desk.' I turn away pretending to be busy in the filing cabinet but it's empty now so I relock it. When I look round Christian has already gone into the other half, I take one last look and then join him.

'Are you OK?' He asks. I nod unable to speak. 'Shall we close the wall now?' I nod again. We push the wall making sure it clicks into place and then leave the studio shutting the door firmly. The sun is bright and I blink a few times whilst breathing deeply. Christian gives me a quick hug and then we walk back towards the house.

'Let's get these bags to the study straight away. Hopefully the others aren't back yet.' I say.

'They shouldn't be. I think we'll have another thirty minutes. What do you want me to do with these keys?' Christian asks.

'Do you think Taylor could get a spare set cut and then you take these ones with you, I'll keep the other set.' I say.

'Sure, no problem. I'll send him out later.' He says and gives me a smile. 'You're starting to think like me and dad.'

'Hmmm, I'll be happier when one set of everything is back in Seattle. Does Ana know your safe combination?' I ask.

'No, why don't you trust her?' he ask in surprise.

'Yes I do, sorry I should have maybe asked does anyone know your safe combination.' I say.

'No' He says. 'I'll write it down and leave it in your room at home if you want, or I can bring everything to you as soon as you arrive home.'

'I'll think about it and let you know. I'm not sure I need to know it.' I say.

'I think someone should know it other than me.' He says.

'And you think that someone should be me. I don't know Christian, it's a big responsibility.' I mutter.

'Getting married and having babies is a big responsibility and you would do that from today.' He says with a smirk.

'OK, you've got me on that one, I should never have told you and Elliot. You can leave me the number somewhere that I'll know where to get it in an emergency. Christian, I need to go back to the studio.' I say.

'Why, what's wrong?' he asks.

'I need a permanent marker, I want to cross out those codes.' I say. 'But I will leave the discs where they are for now.'

'OK, we'll walk down there together later. You can go on your own if you prefer.' He says gently.

'I'd rather you came. I had a bit of a moment earlier.' I mutter.

'A power ranger moment.' He says. I nod and look away. 'Hey, it's OK, you're going to have lots of those moments as you're sorting things out and dealing with them. Let's leave all this here for now, have you got a key to lock this door?'

'No, but we'll put them in this cupboard and lock that.' I say.

'OK, I'll say I have work to do later whilst you're resting and then I will photo copy everything for you.' He says. 'Go and get your swimming shorts on, we'll go for a quick dip and then if the others come back they'll think we've just been in the pool.' He says with a smile.

'Good idea.' I say before adding cheekily 'For once.'
