When I enter the bedroom Hannah has her back to me. I envelope her in a hug and kiss the back of her neck. She turns to face me and hugs me back.

'Hannah.' I almost whisper. 'Have I done something wrong?'

'No, why would you think that?' she says.

'You seem to be able to talk to everyone but me at the moment.' I say.

'I'm scared I might say the wrong thing.' She says and puts her head in my chest.

'Why?' I say as I pull away slightly and hold her chin so she looking me in the eye. 'This isn't like you, you've always been so strong.'

'I'm all over the place at the moment.' She says.

'And are you sick?' I ask and she shrugs. 'Have I made you ill?'

'No. I'm not tired and I haven't got the sore throat.' She says.

'So what is wrong?' I ask.

'I've just felt sick the last few mornings.' She whispers. She puts her head down and I pull her close. 'Matt….'

'You'll be OK.' I say gently.

'But what if…..' she starts.

'Sshh, we'll get through this.' I say as I wipe away a tear from her cheek and place my hand on her stomach.

'The shot can't have worked.' She whispers.

'If it didn't then so be it, it isn't the end of the world.' I say. 'Have you done a test?'

'No. I was hoping to get five minutes at the mall to go to the pharmacy.' Hannah says.

'OK, I'll make sure I divert Mia.' I say. 'Can you do the test after dinner when we get back here so that we're together?'

'You've shocked me.' Hannah says.

'Why?'

'I thought you'd do a Christian and go thermonuclear on me. I thought you wouldn't want me here.' Hannah says.

'Baby I wouldn't want you anywhere else. I want you by my side always. I love you.' I say and kiss her lips gently.

'I haven't told anyone else.' She says. 'Your family will be so angry with me.'

'No.' I whisper. 'It was me they were angry with the first time, not you.'

'Matt I don't want them to be angry with you again, you were so upset and hurt last time.' Hannah says.

'It's different this time. If they're angry then I'll leave them to it. We have a choice of seven houses we can live in and it doesn't have to be the one next door to mom and dad. I'll find a job in one of my businesses….'

'What about school, university? You had so many plans.' Hannah says.

'So did you. We could employ a nanny.' I say and Hannah arches her eyebrows at me.

'Did you have a nanny?' she asks.

'No.' I mutter.

'We need to confirm if I am pregnant before we make any decisions. I think you should go to university still though and I'll follow you wherever you decide to go.' She says and I pull her into a hug once more.

'You still need a swimming lesson.' I say changing the subject. 'Let's go now.' I quickly drag on some swim shorts and then I take her hand but can feel her reluctance.

'Matt please.' Hannah pleads.

'Baby, don't be scared. I just want you to relax in the water. We'll just float around together today.' I say as we head down the stairs. As we wander onto the terrace I blink in the bright sunlight and then we walk hand in hand to the pool. 'Here, let me take your t-shirt off.' I say and I gently pull Hannah towards me. She raises her arms and I lift the shirt upwards before tossing it onto the lounger. I hug her briefly and let my hand settle on her stomach once more.

'Matt, someone might see.' She whispers as I put my head close to hers and kiss her hair.

'Hmm, let's get in the water.' I say and take her hand to help her. 'Sit on the side.' I add as I jump in. I then turn towards her and go and stand in between her legs. 'I like this position, I can kiss your tummy.'

'You can do that later when the bedroom door is closed and we're on our own.' Hannah says.

'You're getting assertive again but is that a promise?' I ask with a smirk.

'And you're getting cheeky but yes.' She says as I wrap my arms around her and pull her into the water. 'It's cold.'

'It's only water, don't be a wimp.' I say as I smile at her. 'Can you float?'

'No.' she says.

'That's why you can't swim well then. Just lie on your back and relax. I promise I won't let go until I think you're ready.' I say. 'Relax.' I add as she lies back. 'I have my arm underneath you, I won't let you go under, I promise.'

'Matt, why didn't the shot work?' Hannah asks as she's floating in the water.

'I don't know baby. Maybe you got pregnant after you did the test with Dr Green and before the end of the seven days were up.' I say.

'We only made love once, in the hospital before you went for your MRI scan.' Hannah says.

'And Christian gave us the condom so it's his fault.' I mutter as Hannah tries to sit up. 'Hey lie back down and relax.'

'You sounded angry for a second there.' Hannah says as she floats once more.

'Only because I said Christian's name, I'm not happy with him at the moment. I asked him for privacy this morning and he put the phone down on me which I wasn't bothered about but now he won't answer Mia's calls and whatever has gone on between us he shouldn't be taking it out on Mia.'

'Have you told Mia?' Hannah asks.

'No. I'll email him. I don't really want to speak to him at the moment.' I mutter.

'Matt, what are you doing?' Hannah asks.

'Don't panic but I'm floating on my back next to you.' I say.

'I'm really floating.' Hannah says surprised.

'Yes baby. Just stay relaxed.'

'Hmm, this feels good. You said it was Christian's fault.' Hannah says quietly.

'I know, wrong choice of words. It's nobody's fault. If the test is positive then it's happened for a reason. We can't change it.' I say.

'I could get an abortion.' Hannah says and I stand abruptly and look at her. 'Lie back, relax.' I duck under the water and hold my breath before surfacing and floating once more. 'What was that for?'

'Because I didn't know what to say.' I mutter.

'You want me to have this baby.' Hannah says.

'Yes.' I whisper hardly daring to breathe. Hannah stops floating and stands next to me.

'Why?' she asks.

'Because of this.' I say as I point to my scar. 'Because I almost died and if I had then I would have lived on in the baby.'

'Oh Matt.' Hannah says and I duck under the water once again so that she can't see my tears. I surface next to her and give her a hug.

'Sorry, I got a bit emotional. Shall we go and shower together?' I ask.

'Swimming lesson over.' Hannah says with a smile.

'Yes. You've learnt to relax and that's enough for today. You can practise again in the morning.' I say as I climb out of the pool and grab a towel and wrap it round me before helping Hannah up the steps and then drying her.

'You're spoiling me again.' She says.

'I need to look after you, you're the mother of my child.' I say.

'It isn't confirmed yet.' She says.

'I just know.' I say as I touch the edge of her bikini top. 'These have grown.'

'Already, are you sure?'

'Yes but I'll check in the shower.' I say with a smirk.

'No sex though.' Hannah says.

'Just shower, lunch, shopping, dinner and then when we go to bed I can make love to you.' I say as I pull the t-shirt back over her head.

'Sounds like a plan.' She says with a smile.

'I need to plan how to distract Mia and also fit in ice-cream.' I say.

'Mia is easy. She wants a new dress so I'll go to the pharmacy whilst she's trying on.' Hannah says.

'You'll need security.' I say.

'I know, but they can wait outside.' She says.

'Good idea, partner in crime.' I say and smile at her.

'Always.' She whispers as we hold hands and walk back to the house.
