'No.' Hannah whispers. 'I don't believe it, let me see.' I show her the test with the positive line.

'Mommy.' I say.

'Daddy.' Hannah says as she turns to face me. She tries to kiss my lips but I move so that she gets my cheek.

'You can't get sick now. Not long until I can kiss you properly.' I say.

'I can't wait.' Hannah says.

'Me neither. Baby, are we both in agreement that we keep this news quiet until after Christian's wedding?' I say.

'Yes definitely, longer if possible.' Hannah says.

'We can confide in Mrs Richards, she's promised not to say anything.' I say.

'Would she mind me talking to her?' Hannah asks.

'Not at all, she'll be delighted.' I say.

'I need someone to talk to.' Hannah says.

'You can talk to me.' I say.

'I know but that's different.' Hannah says.

'Thanks.' I mutter but smile at her. 'We need to keep this hidden from my nosy sister.'

'Just get her talking on shopping, the spa or holidays and she doesn't notice anything else.' Hannah says.

'What are you saying?' I ask.

'That she's easily distracted not like Christian who will pry until he gets the answer he wants.' Hannah says.

'I know, I think I'll avoid him.' I say.

'You can't if you'll be working for him.' Hannah says. 'You'll also have your family dinner when we return.'

'Shit there'll be no getting out of that, you know how mom always insists everyone is there.' I say 'Though thinking about it Christian does miss them when he's busy with work or at least that was always his excuse. I've got a week to think of something.'

'Your mom will get suspicious.' Hannah says.

'I'll think of something.' I mutter.

'Matt…'

'Hey it's OK. Being the youngest I've never missed one before. This weekend will be the first but we are here. We have some dinners that are compulsory and the other three knew not to argue with mom and would make sure they were there and then there are the usual weekly ones where mom would like us there. Christian was often working, Mia sometimes went out with friends and Elliot sometimes had a date. I think they must have worked out a rota as to who would turn up and who got the night off because there was always one but usually two of them there. Maybe we could go out for dinner and to the theatre.' I say.

'I've never been to the theatre.' Hannah says.

'Really, I'll take you. We'll look later and see what shows are around and see what you'd like to go to.' I say.

'And what you'd like.' Hannah says.

'I don't mind, I just tend to listen to the music or people watch if I don't like the performance. Have you been to a baseball game?' I ask.

'No.'

'I'm shocked.' I say.

'Matt you don't realise how lucky you are. I know it's been tough growing up as you but you have still been very privileged with what you have done.' Hannah says.

'Spoilt.' I say.

'Well I wasn't going to say that but yes.' Hannah says and I start to tickle her. She giggles and tries to get me back and then we're wrestling on the bed. I have her pinned underneath me.

'You look so beautiful. I have three wishes. Firstly I wish it wasn't lunchtime, secondly I wish I hadn't promised to take my sister shopping this afternoon and thirdly I wish I could spend the rest of the day in bed making love to you.' I say with longing.

'Well it is lunchtime and we are shopping but I would have loved to have spent the day in bed with you as well. I'm hungry though now.' Hannah says.

'Well let's go eat.' I say and help her off the bed. We wander downstairs continuing our good mood of laughing and giggling. As we enter the kitchen Mrs Richards smiles at us.

'Good news.' She asks.

'The best.' I say and smile at Hannah. 'Is lunch nearly ready? Hannah is hungry.'

'It's just subs and salad today, it won't take long to make.' Mrs Richards says.

'I'll help you with it.' Hannah says and gives me a look as if to say go and find something to do.

'I know when I'm not wanted.' I say quietly to her as I kiss her cheek. 'I'll go find the guitar.'

'You can stay if you want.' Hannah says.

'No, I'll leave you to talk. I'll grab the guitar and go and annoy Mia to keep her occupied.' I say. I leave the kitchen and passing through the living room I pick the guitar up and head outside onto the terrace. Mia is sat on one of the double loungers and I go and sit on the end of it.

'Hi little bro, I'm really sorry about before. I was just about to come inside when Christian called me. He can't have heard very much because I did turn around straight away.' Mia says.

'Don't worry.' I say.

'Hannah said you were mad.' Mia says.

'I was.' I say as I start to idly strum. 'But not for long.'

'Are we still shopping?' Mia asks.

'Yes, I promised you a new dress and shoes.' I say.

'And bracelet.' She says hopefully.

'If you want. I'd quite like to buy Hannah something from the jewellers as well so you wanting to look will be the perfect excuse otherwise she'll say no.' I say.

'Deal.' Mia says and smiles at me. 'Can we look for you some new clothes as well?'

'What's wrong with the ones I've got?' I mutter.

'Jeans, polo shirt and converse.' Mia states. I look down at what I'm wearing. 'Matt you always wear that. What about a shirt and jacket?'

'No, I don't want to look like Christian.' I say. 'I'll get some new shorts and flip flops.'

'Well that's a start.' Mia says. 'We'll work on the rest. Have you got plenty of money in your account?'

'Yes but I still need to be careful with it.' I say. 'Dad is finally giving me an allowance, a thousand dollars a month.'

'Matt that's hardly anything. You'll need to ask Christian for more.' Mia says.

'No, apparently I have to learn to appreciate money.' I say.

'You're a billionaire, you'll never have to worry about money.' Mia says.

'I'm not one for at least another three years.' I say and smirk at her.

'Can you stop strumming that thing, it's annoying whilst you're talking to me.' She says. I strum it louder. 'Matt, stop or I'll bash it over your head.' I stand and start to walk round the lounger still playing.

'Had enough yet?' I say and smirk at her.

'You're being a little shit Matt Grey.' Mia says.

'Business as usual then.' I say as I carry on.

'Two dresses, two pairs of shoes and a new bikini.' Mia says.

'I don't care.' I sing loudly as I walk past her again. 'I'm going to be annoying whilst I can.'

'Five dresses…' Mia starts.

'OK, you've got me.' I say as I stop. 'I don't want you to spend all my money.' I sit back down on the lounger.

'So what was all that about?' Mia asks.

'I don't know, I just felt like annoying you. I've not done it for a while.' I mutter. I put the guitar down and move up the lounger so that I'm crashed out next to her. I'm lying on my front resting on my elbows whilst Mia is sat up.

'You need a haircut.' Mia says as she runs her fingers through my curls. 'It looked really smart when you had it shorter at the back and sides.'

'Do you think I'd be able to get it done whilst we're out?' I ask.

'Of course.' Mia says. 'Are you missing mom?'

'Yes.' I say quietly . 'Lots.'

'Oh Matt.' Mia says. 'It will get easier, when I went to Paris the first couple of weeks were hard especially when I went back to the apartment every night and was alone but then I started looking on the positive side and making friends. This time next week we'll be home.'

'I know, it will go quickly.' I say.

'At least you have Hannah here.' Mia says.

'And you to annoy.' I say and smirk at her.

'You've always been annoying.' Mia says.

'Really.' I say before adding. 'In the hospital I heard you asking Christian if he thought I was strange. Do you think I am?'

'Matt you were just totally different at home than you were at school.' Mia says.

'I could cope with the classroom part but wasn't overly keen on recess. I was just wary of people wanting to be friends.' I say. 'You didn't answer the question.'

'No you're not strange, it was probably a wrong choice of words. You are actually an OK kind of guy who's very funny and generous and loving and…'

'OK that's enough. I get the picture and I'll still buy you a dress.' I say.

'I don't believe I just sounded like you with one of your lists. I must have been spending too much time with you.' Mia says.

'And you've enjoyed every minute of it.' I say.

'Yes, especially here. Are you having a sleep after lunch before we drag you round the mall?' Mia asks.

'I don't know, I feel good today.' I say.

'Just lie on here for an hour or so then. It will be exhausting when you have to carry all our bags and then we'll be going out for dinner.' Mia says.

'We're going to CJ's, it's a burger place. Is that OK?' I ask.

'That's fine, will you find something to eat?' Mia asks.

'Yes, I'll just have to get on with it.' I say.

'You're changing so much.' Mia says as she still affectionately plays with my curls.

'Is that a bad thing?'

'No, it's all good. Mom won't recognise you when you go home. You won't be her little boy anymore.' Mia says.

'I haven't been her little boy for a long time.' I say.

'I know but she will always see you as that. You've grown up so much in the last few weeks.' She says.

'I needed to.' I mutter. 'How come mom doesn't see you as the little girl?'

'Because you're the youngest and you've always seemed to need her more.' Mia says.

'Because I'm so fucked up.' I say.

'Matt.' Mia says in shock.

'It's true.' I say.

'No, you're just sensitive and mom is over protective of you.' Mia says. 'Even when you were little you were sensitive about things.'

'What even when mommy and daddy were alive?' I ask.

'Yes. If something upset you then you still wouldn't eat, I remember you sitting at the dinner table with everyone and you refused any food. You were so fussy about food even then. Also if you'd done something wrong and you thought it was bad or you'd been told off you would go and hide somewhere, either behind the sofa, or inside a closet or up a tree. You've always had your funny little ways.'

'I didn't realise, I thought they just developed over the years.' I mutter.

'Oh no baby bro you were born like that. I suppose we just accepted them.' Mia says and grins at me.

'Looks like lunch is ready.' I say as I see Hannah and Mrs Jones carrying out trays of food.

'Conversation over then, I love you despite all your funny ways.' Mia says.

'Thanks Mia, I love you too.' I say as she pulls my curls once last time. Mia stands to help Hannah and Mrs Richards.

'Matt come and help instead of lying there.' Mia says.

'I'm stuck.' I say.

'What do you mean you're stuck?' Mia says as she comes back over to the lounger. 'Let me help you up.' As she comes to help I roll over and pull her down before standing and throwing her over my shoulder. I start to walk towards the pool.

'So I have funny ways.' I say to her.

'Yes and you just tricked me.' Mia says.

'You should have remembered from the past that you always need to be on your guard.' I say.

'Matt put her down.' Hannah says.

'I will in the pool.' I say.

'You wouldn't dare.' Mia says and then shouts. 'I'm sorry, it was the wrong choice of words I don't dare you.'

'You should be more careful what you say in future.' I say as I put her down on the edge of the pool.

'Thanks for not dropping me in.' Mia says. 'You're getting your playful side back.'

'Yes and you'd do well to remember that, come on let's go and eat.' I say. She throws her arms round me and hugs me.

'You are changing for the better.' She says and I grin at her. We walk back up to the table. I sit down and see what there is to eat. I take another quick look and feel a moment of panic.

'Mrs Richards has just gone back in for the peppered turkey ones.' Hannah says and I feel myself calm instantly.

'Could you tell?' I ask.

'That you were worrying. Yes.' Hannah says and smiles at me.

'Matt are you sure about going to the burger place tonight?' Mia asks.

'I'll be fine. Apparently I've been before and they do chicken.' I say. Mrs Richards appears with another plate of subs.

'Thank you Mrs R.'

'You're welcome, enjoy. I'll check your shoulder out after lunch.' Mrs Richards says before heading back into the kitchen.

'You can have some of the peppered turkey ones.' I say to Hannah and Mia as they start helping themselves.

'We wouldn't want to deprive you.' Hannah says.

'I'm going to try a couple of the other ones.' I say as I help myself to a small ham one and then a cheese before putting one of my favourites on my plate. Both girls smile at me. 'Just don't say anything.' I add as I start eating.

'Salad.' Mia asks as she hands me the bowl. I hand it straight to Hannah as Mia raises her eyebrows at me questionably.

'I'll finish off what you two don't want.' I say as Hannah puts some on her plate.

'Seriously you're going to eat all this salad.' Hannah says.

'Yes.' I say and smirk at her.

'What's so funny?' Hannah asks.

'My darling brother can survive on salad and fruit especially if something is bothering him. Sometimes that's all mom could get him to eat. We've been to restaurants before now and he's decided he doesn't like anything on the menu without even looking at it so has ended up with a salad.' Mia says.

'You're the weirdest person I know.' Hannah says teases.

'Thank you, I appreciate that. You'll end up in the pool after lunch.' I say.

'Really.' Hannah says and then leans towards me as she kisses my ear she whispers 'Baby.'

'Sorry, I won't drop you in the pool.' I say quietly and smile shyly at her.

'I was going to print some photos after lunch. Do you want to help put them in albums Mia?' Hannah asks as she still has her eyes locked with mine.

'Sure.' Mia says. 'I don't know what's just gone on with you two but the look you're giving each other says you're seriously in love.' I smile at Hannah and she smiles back before we both turn and look at Mia.

'Whilst you two sort the photos I'll rest for a couple of hours and then we can go out.' I say as I finish the last of my subs and pick up the salad bowl. 'Do either of you want any more?'

'No thanks.' They both say together and smile as I start to eat it. 'What?'

'You and salad.' Mia says but she's grinning at me.

'Hopefully this place tonight does salad just in case I don't like anything else.' I say.

'Burger and fries.' Hannah says. I grimace. 'What's the funny face for, you might like them if you try.'

'We'll see.' I mutter as I finish the salad. Mrs Richards comes out to collect the plates. I jump up to help her.

'Matt sit down, I'll help Mrs Richards.' Mia says.

'Would anyone like dessert?' Mrs Richards asks as I sit back down.

'I'm good thanks, what about you?' I say as I turn to Hannah.

'No I'm OK, I'll wait until you drag us for ice-cream in the mall.' Hannah says.

'Same for me.' Mia says as she follows Mrs Richards into the kitchen.

'Let's go and sit on the lounger together.' I say as I stand and help Hannah up.

'I was jealous earlier when I brought lunch out. You and Mia looked so close together. It was funny when you tricked her though and nearly threw her in the pool.' Hannah says.

'You have no need to be jealous baby, we were just chatting about home and how I was when I was small.' I say and kiss her cheek as we settle down together. I pull her into my chest and hug her.

'You're very close to all you siblings though, you have a great relationship with the all.' Hannah says.

'Yes I suppose I do. They've always looked after me and protected me.' I say. I place my hand on Hannah's stomach.

'You'll have to be careful where you do that. People will guess.' Hannah says.

'Hmm, there's no-one around at the moment.' I say as I kiss the back of her neck.

'Apart from security who'll report back to you know who.' Hannah says and turns and grins at me.

'You're right.' I say as I remove my hand. 'I'll wait until we're in the privacy of the bedroom. How did your chat go with Mrs R?'

'Good.'

'Is that all?' I ask.

'OK very good, she was brilliant. Reassuring, helpful, kind. Available to talk whenever I want including when we go home, she said I can always phone her.' Hannah says. 'She wants me to go with Dr Richards to the hospital to get checked out before we go home, she said if I go with you for your next appointment he can check us both at same time so no-one will know until we're ready to tell them.'

'That's a good idea, what do your checks involve?' I ask.

'Blood pressure and scan.' She says.

'We get to see it.' I say surprised.

'It.' Hannah says and smirks at me.

'Sorry I was just surprised that's all, though he or she will only be a tiny cluster of cells at the moment.' I say.

'Yes a tiny blip.' Hannah says.

'Baby blip. I like the sound of that.' I say as I kiss her once more.

'Me too.' Hannah says. 'Now rest time for you, I'm going to print photos.'

'I'm going to find my ipod and rest upstairs, it's too hot out here at this time of the day. I'll lie on the bed with the air conditioning on max.' I say.

'OK, if you fall asleep should I wake you?' Hannah asks.

'Yes please, two hours from now.' I say and kiss her as I leave her at the dining room where Elliot has set up the printer for her.
