Lost And Found ch9

Placing the pieces

"I don't remember what happened after that," Kevin shrugged as Gwen rubbed his shoulder, sitting beside him and listening into the conversation that he and three plumbers were having. One of the plumbers, this plumber being a woman did not take kindly to Kevin's difficulty to remember what happened. "Funny," she said as she stared down to the notes she had taken in her hands. "Forensics suggest that you were electrocuted, not hit," she raised an eyebrow to Kevin. Kevin threw his head back to release an irritated groan, effectively hitting the back of his head on the wall behind his bed. "I didn't know what hit me, I can remember pain in my back and falling onto the ground. That's it."

Seeing that Kevin was agitated Gwen shot a glare to the plumbers who were questioning him. "That's enough. Kevin's already told you what happened and if you don't believe him then check the security footage in the hall where it happened," Gwen told the three who had all began to stare at her. The three were shocked by what Gwen had said. They weren't used to being talked to by someone who they thought was below them. Often red spot plumbers would be very arrogant and completely qualified narcissists. This is why Kevin didn't like Rook. Although Rook was not like most red spot plumbers, Kevin found him too eager to take control of any situation without needing or wanting any help. This bothered Kevin.

The female plumber scoffed at Gwen. "We would, but during the black out the cameras were also turned off," she spoke in a husked tone. Gwen could already feel that she disliked this plumber, but before she could retort a come back she paused to think of what the woman had said. She blinked as she realised what the black out was actually doing.

"This is Plumber HQ. You should have a back-up generator," Kevin muttered, crossing his arms, taking his shoulder away from Gwen's hand. Gwen rested her hand in her lap, looking down as she began to compile a mountain of theories.

"We do," another plumber had said, this one was male. "The generator was unresponsive during the black out, some people are having a look at it now to figure out what went wrong."

"Wait," Gwen interrupted the talk that Kevin and the plumbers were having. "The black out happened when Ben was being kidnapped."

"Didn't anyone tell you that?" The female rolled her eyes as she flicked back through her notes. Gwen scowled to the woman, but continued to speak. "Ben must have caused the black out."

"That is completely plausible, but how is it relevant?" the third plumber had said, he was shorter than everyone in the room and so received little attention when he had spoken. Thankfully, Gwen had heard him and answered his question. "No reason. It's just a thing that us Anodites do when we're in trouble," She gave a ginger smile to the plumbers. They stared at her in confusion before the female of the two rolled her eyes and announced that Kevin and Gwen were both useless in their search and that they look elsewhere. "Come, Caesar. Let's interrogate the floor cleaners," She said to the plumber beside her. He jumped at the sound of his name, seeming quite nervous for an alien his size. He nodded as quickly as he could. "Yes ma'am!"

The three left the room in a hurry to gather more information, leaving Gwen and Kevin alone within the small white room. Kevin stared at Gwen, raising an eyebrow. "Okay, I know you lied to them. Why?" He asked as Gwen watched the plumbers step into the elevator through the window.

She gave a soft sigh as she ran her fingers back through her hair. "Because the cameras were turned off..," Gwen looked down for a moment. "I've got an idea about what might have happened, but I don't want that pompous plumber girl knowing what I think might have happened. It's a hunch, She'll take it too seriously or think I'm an idiot," She muttered with a frown. Gwen turned to Kevin's bedside once more, taking one of Kevin's hands into hers. "It could be possible that Ben caused the black out on purpose," she spoke quietly, not wanting anyone outside the room to hear them.

Kevin seemed shocked by what Gwen had said. "Why would he do that?" Kevin asked.

Gwen shook her head. "He was protecting someone, or himself, he didn't want anyone to see his kidnappers.. because," Gwen's eyes widened, "He knew them."

"If Ben was taken back to Psychobos than there is no telling if we will ever see him again," Rook rubbed his left temple with two fingers pressed hard against his head. He leaned against a work bench that had been deserted thanks to Max's orders. The room the two and sixteen other scientists who were standing in was completely off limits to anyone else. It was a large room with thick steel walls and a large mega computer at the top level where Rook and Max stand. Below them were the scientists who surrounded a long table speaking of what options they had to find Ben.

"If he is with Psychobos than that means you know where he is," Max glanced over to Rook who stared up to the majester, shaking his head side to side. Max looked down, grumbling under his breath of how foolish he was to leave zero security on that level that day. "I've seen Ben do amazing things with his powers," Rook said to himself, scratching his chin in thought. "Why wouldn't he protect himself against his kidnappers? He has the ability."

Max nodded in agreement with Rook. "Perhaps he was scared. He was too scared to fight back. He is scared of Psychobos."

Rook raised his head to look at Max. "I still don't quiet understand," Rook continued. "Ben's stronger than we'd originally thought. In fact, he's very strong for an anodite who has never used his abilities...," Rook stopped himself to think for a moment. He looked directly into Max's eyes, knowing all too well he was thinking the same thing.

"With a power like that..," Max began.

"Psychobos would become unstoppable..." Upon finishing the sentence, Rook's eyes widened as far as they would. Max instantly turned to the plumbers who were chatting behind the two of them.

"Alright! Everyone, I want security checked. I want a few of you to scan over the grass lands you were talking about earlier and Everyone else keep an eye open for any changes around Bellwood!" Once Max had finished the plumbers rushed to their spots, some leaving the room and returning with high Tech weapons. "I'm not signing on those, just take them!" The plumbers looked a little shocked, but even more scared of disobeying Max when his Grandson's life could have been in jeopardy.

The ran from the room in an instant as Max and Rook watched the plumbers run around in a way that could only be described as ants under a microscope. "Do you think Ben is still on Earth?" Rook asked Max.

"He should be, if Psychobos kept him on Earth for a year than he had a plan," Max nodded to himself. Rook stared at Max wide eyed before snapping his eyes away from the majester and looking back down to the plumbers at work. "I'm worried about him," Rook said worriedly, squinting his eyes shut. Max placed a hand over Rook's shoulder, effectively earning a glance from Rook. "I am too," Max nodded. Rook looked back down and hummed to himself.

Max gave Rook another pat on the back before taking his hand away to also look at the plumbers working frantically to find his grandson. "I know that you cared about Ben. In fact I know how much too," Max spoke in a tone which couldn't be deciphered between angry and up set.

Rook's attention came back to Max in an instant and Rook opened his mouth to speak, but was cut short by Max's strangely comforting smile. Rook darted his eyes away for a moment before returning to Max. "Majester, I never tried to hurt Ben in anyway-"

"You never did," Max gave a laugh, earning some plumbers attention which was quickly transferred back to their work. "And that's why I like you. You've always been there for him Rook. Thank you."

Rook seemed a little shocked by what Max had said, but gave him a small smile. He then looked passed Max and to the wall behind him, giving a small sigh and turning away again. "I wish I was there for him now," he whispered almost inaudibly.

"We'll get there, Rook. If I'm Max Tennyson we'll never stop trying," Max said looking towards the plumbers in front of him with a strong and proud look on his face.

"Majester! Majester!" a voice from the lower level called out. Max and Rook both stared down to the man who was trying desperately to push through the crowds of scientists who were trying to push him back. "You're not allowed in here!" one man called as the smaller man continued to thrash around. Rook knew him as the man who had stopped him from going to Vilgaxia a few months ago. He seemed to be doing the exact thing he was on that very day. Only on that day was when this man had lead him to Ben. Rook mumbled to himself. He's probably not coming for the same reason, although Rook wished that it would be that easy to find Ben. "He really tries," Rook announced with a small smile gracing his lips. Max nodded in response and was about to call everyone off the poor plumber that was being pushed back, but he was interrupted by that said plumber.

"Majester! It's about your grandson!" The small man shouted over the voices that were telling him to get out. Max's eyes widened. "Stop!" he called, raising both arms. The plumbers who were pushing him back looked at Max in confusion. "Let him through!"

The plumber easily slipped through the crowd and towards Max, keeping on the lower level though, probably to show respect. "Do you have any leads? Anything that could help us find Ben. Anything?!" He called, wanting frantically to know where Ben was and if he was alright.

"Majester. We have found the culprit. The one behind the kidnapping!" He said, nodding frantically as if to assure himself that the Majester was listening. Max's eyes couldn't possibly get any wider. "Take me to him," he said, walking down the stairs that led to the lower level. He stood beside the plumber who gave a small nod and began to lead Max from the room. Max stopped for a moment and looked up at Rook who was still standing on the top level. "Aren't you coming?" Rook instantly came down the stairs to follow Max. The three left the room in a hurry to meet this criminal while the plumbers in the room continued their work on Ben's current location.

A dull dripping noise was enough to wake him and despite the urge to open his eyes and look for the dripping noise he kept behind his eyelids. If he pretended to rest than he would not have to face whatever stood, clearly before him which was making the sound. The current events had already began to shoot through his mind and he knew more than anything that where ever he be, it was most definitely not safe. He took a light breath, his chest raising a fraction and hopefully not high enough to show that he was awake. He tried to regulate his breathing into the way of a sleeping person. If only he knew how he slept.

Taking the breath caused a slashing pain beneath the skin of his chest. His chest fell. The pain exploded and what felt like millions of fingers danced up and down his body. He tried not to move as if he'd been hurt, but he did and made the slightest gasp at the hot pain that was coursing through him. He knew the pain was a cold pain. A hot pain would feel warmer, but the cold pain was caused by the cold and the stillness of his body. The room felt freezing and beneath his body which pricked in the cold felt to be a bed of sorts. Not a bed, more a bench. It felt frosty and smooth, like a metal sheet.

"London bridge is falling down." What sounded like a chorus of children began to ring in his ears. The voices shook him back towards the sound in the room. The voices were followed by music, a thin sound of a violin pricking and an eerie silence behind the voices. The voices sang slowly, quietly. This song didn't sound sweet at all. His body tensed. He knew this song. This song.. he'd only ever heard it play on repeat in one place.

"My fair lady," a voice sang along with the music. He tried to will his eyes to stay closed, but he'd already opened them before he could begin to think of the consequences. The moment he'd opened his eyes he wanted to close them, but the all too familiar colour of dark purple caught his eye. "So, you are awake," the voice whispered harshly. He tried to move his eyes to the direction of the voice, but he could only move them so far that he strained to see the figure in the darkness. He attempted to jerk his shoulder forward, roll on his side. That would be much easier than straining his eyes, but he felt that there was a boundary keeping his arms down. He didn't feel anything holding him down, but something was preventing him from moving.

He imagined that this would have something to do with the voice and so, making use of it he opened his mouth. "Why can't I move?" his voice almost scared him, he didn't expect his voice to work if the rest of his body was useless.

"You have been sedated for sometime. You're body will not be able to move for quiet a while thanks to the intensity of the sedative," the voice responded quickly. "Which is very fortunate for me," the voice chuckled. The sound of the voice made him wonder exactly why this person was standing in the shadows. Obviously he knew who the voice belonged to.

"Why are you doing this? There's a million anodites in the universe you can use, why go to such lengths to get me back?" he whispered beneath his breath, his tone sounded more shrivelled and quiet than he'd like to admit, but the shadow heard him clearly.

The music stopped at that moment, the figure more than likely had a control for it. The figure sighed. "Not all anodites have one of these," Psychobos chose that moment to step out of the shadows. A long violet pincer reached out to tap at the watch tightly clamping his wrist. "It's not like it's in good condition though, I can't even use the damn thing," Ben hissed angrily for a change, glaring to the crustacean beside him.

"Well, not all anodites are quite as easy to capture either," Psychobos chuckled at his remark, crawling over to the other side of the bench to stand on Ben's right.

"I would gladly fight back if you played fair, trust me. I'd kick your ass if it wasn't for the stupid sedative," Ben hissed boldly to the crustacean standing beside him. Psychobos gave an amused awe to the statement and crawled around the table once more, causing Ben to have to roll his head over to the side again.

"Quite nasty today aren't we? You haven't talked to me like that in a year. One year, 3 months and ten days to be exact," Pyschobos said, poking at his other claw as if he were counting the days. He blinked with a wide grin, proud at his memory. Ben merely rolled his eyes and took another breath that shook his frame. "Hmm.. It must be some sort of rehabilitation characteristic that you have inherited in that place. Don't worry, you can say goodbye to that snappy mouth soon," Psychobos chuckled as his twig like legs took his across the room. Ben shuddered once more, feeling the cold creeping up his body as if it were some spiny animal with a million feet of icicles and snow. "It's too cold in here," He whispered. "If you're going to keep me here at least turn the heat up a little."

Pyschobos gave another chuckle as he poked at a glass cylinder that was sitting across from Ben. The cyclinder sat on a bench similar to the one Ben was laying on, but shorter. The cylinder was filling with the purple substance, one drop at a time. That explained the noise.

"I'm afraid I can't. You see the cerium will not concentrate in a warm environment. I may 'turn up the heat' once this cerium is ready," he smiled.

"Idiot, I hope this backfires on you," Ben snapped once more, closing his eyes so he didn't have to look at the monster who was keeping him captive.

"It won't. I have already found all the resulting outcomes to be quite fortunate to me," Psychobos said, continuously tapping at the glass.

"They're going to find me you know, they won't quit until they do."

Psychobos chuckled darkly. "And what of last time? Everyone thought you were dead for almost two years. What makes this time any different?" He asked with a wicked grin. Ben smiled to himself, knowing all too well that Psychobos had no clew what he was capable of and said, "You'll see. I've got someone who's looking for me now."

Psychobos almost threw a fit before he smirked, realising who this so called person was. "The Blonko man?" Ben's head darted towards his direction, with a glare evident on his features.

"Agh, your head is getting faster, that means the sedatives affects are wearing off," Psychobos said, raising his claw to his head. He scratched at his thick exoskeleton. "Yes, now what happened to that creature? Hmm.. Agh yes, I remember now," Pyschobos nodded with a chuckle. "I've already had him killed."

Ben shook his head in disbelief anger crossing his face. "You're lying!"'

"Would I ever lie to you? Servant?" Pyschobos asked proudly. Ben shook his head again, fighting the tears which were now pooling in the corners of his eyes. "No. No. You've never told the truth! Rook's alive and he'd never let me stay here! He's probably on his way now!"

"Silly destructive little thing. He doesn't even know where you are."

"He won't stop until he does, just you see!" Ben hissed dangerously, his eyes stabbing into Psychobos's with the power of a hundred knives.

"He can't save you. He's dead. Floating at the bottom of the ocean as we speak," Pyschobos smiled wickedly, watching as more and more tears formed in Ben's eyes. He bit his lip, stretching his neck as far out as he could to attack him, even with the sedatives, he'd find a way to hurt him for what he was saying. "And don't bother using your powers now. They won't work in this room, I designed it myself you see. The walls are specially designed to-"

"HE'S NOT DEAD! HE'S NOT! DON'T YOU DARE LIE TO ME!" Ben screamed over Psychobos, effectively stopping him from continuing. "He's alive!"

Psychobos was actually silent for a few moments, before a grin shot up on his face and he howled with laughter. "Oh, how tragic. That silly human emotion of yours makes you think that he's invincible." Ben watched as Psychobos moved closer to him, wagging his claws towards Ben like Ben was some sort of a freak show. "Did you love him? Did he make you feel safe, all nice and cosy away from Psychobos!" He howled. Ben lunged forward once more as Psychobos laughed.

"Shut up. Shut up!" he demanded, but Psychobos continued. Ben's heart wrenched in his chest, twisted and died at the sound of Psychobos's sick laughter. A final feeling of hopelessness fell over Ben like a sheet of snow and the cold returned, all feeling of pain returned. The hope that he had previously left. He was now back at the mercy of the doctor. "So silly, but don't worry. Emotions like that will never get in the way after I'm finished with you," Psychobos chuckled darkly as he moved away from Ben once more. Ben watched, teary eyed and terrified as Psychobos moved back towards the purple tube and tapped three times.

"This appears to be done and with that you will be finished."

I don't know what's with me a cliffhanger endings.. It just a thing I guess.

I'll be back in sic months! Just kidding! I'll be back soon~
