Disclaimer: I do not own How to Train Your Dragon or Brave nor do own any of the character.

Since it is my first crossover I would love feedback.

This is set after Merida and Hiccup have both experienced their own adventures-movie plots-. Merida is fifteen and Hiccup is sixteen.

Also I am sorry but I am bad at accents so Merida does have an accent that everyone notices and will comment on, but I will not be writing like she does, its just to difficult for me, so I apologize in advance.

Since the witch in Brave was never names and the Pixar theory claims the witch is Boo, I named the witch Boo

Merida point of view:

I was deep in sleep when some wonderful stench started to fill the room. It smelled like chicken, but as wonderful as it smelled and probably tasted better than the cinnamon flavored meat I had my first night here all I wanted was sleep.

I could hear something being placed down next to me, but like I said I was too tired to open my eyes and eat. That's when I felt something lean over me, whatever it was, was big and bulky. For a moment I thought it was my dad, so I mumbled a go away. However the figure stood there still hovering and as sleep started to fade annoyance taking its place. I slowly remembered I wasn't home, my dad wasn't here, and that something unknown was hovering over me. Not thinking I lunged out of bed punching whatever was hovering over me.

I heard a grunt of surprise, but a meaty hand caught my fist. "That's quite a wake up lass." I heard a voice say. I tugged at my hand trying to free it, and unexpectedly he left go of my wrist. My momentum from tugging caused me to trip over the blanket and eventually fall off of the bed.

I couldn't see anything, but red since all my hair was in my face. I felt something shift next to me and based on the stinking breath I knew it was Toothless. I began to push my hair out of my face, noticing just how bad it was knotted.

Toothless was sitting next to me looking at me oddly, but as I gave him a goofy smile, movement in front of me caught my eye. It was Hiccup's father and unlike last time he looked very uncomfortable rather than imposing. He opened his mouth to say something, but quickly closed it.

"Merida" he finally says "I was…Hiccup and I were talking…" unlike Hiccup who just keeps rambling when he's stuck, his father just seems to pause restarting his sentence. "We talked" he paused again "and he told me some thing about you." Panic started to course through my veins. I told Hiccup a lot of things, just what exactly did he tell his father. "He has convinced me that you are not a spy, that you are a victim." He was doing a lot of hand gestures and I could tell that the chief of the Vikings was not used to doing…well whatever he was doing right now, which I think is him admitting he was wrong, maybe apologizing.

I could only glare at him, out of all the words he could have used he used the word victim. I could feel my teeth grind against each other, not liking that everyone in this house has seen me at my weakest. 'I'm the princess of Scotland, I changed tradition, I've gone up against lords, demon bears, and magic. How do I become a victim…I am not a victim' I shout in my head, hating that word, it made me sound so weak and defenseless.

"I was wrong" he finally spits out grimacing as he does "and I'm sorry." I looked at the man strangely, not to sure what to make of his apology. It didn't sound sincere at least not to me, but I know how hard it is for a man in power to apologize, probably just as hard as it is for me to admit I was wrong.

I nodded my head trying to show that I do accept his apology. "Lass I want you to know that you are safe from your kidnappers here, the ice is almost set no man travels in these waters in fear of being stuck, but that also mean we can't get you home anytime soon" He says his promise of safety filled with authority and self-assurance of a king, while sympathy followed. "However with the ice setting so soon it's probably why we are all on edge?" he mutters to himself

I want to know more about the problems this village is having, so before Hiccup's father can leave I stand up and walk to his side tugging on his fur cape. He looks at me for a moment and I use my hand to cover my ear, hoping that he understand that I was listening. After all he said I was safe from my kidnappers, he didn't say I was safe with them.

He placed his giant hand on my shoulder "It's nothing to worry about lass, its just a group of misfits causing trouble." I knew it was more than that; a person is not so paranoid of a spy unless the threat is great. "You should eat, Hiccup has a class to teach soon and he can't be late." He takes his hand away turning for the door. "However I wouldn't mind having a good sword fight with you lass, you seem to be a great fighter." He says over his shoulder, giving me a small smile.

I give a strained smile back, noticing his attempt at starting over, so I nod my head. Hiccup's father nodded and seems to speed walk out of the room, not looking back. I sighed to myself slumping down on the bed. It seems that encounter was almost as awkward for me as it was for him.

I shifted my head so that I was facing the food, slowly crawling to the plate; I picked it up examining it for a moment. I knew he wouldn't try to poison me after all that trouble he went to for apologizing, but it was still odd to think that I was being fed Viking food.

I picked up the chicken leg and started to eat as Toothless jumped on the bed. "Toothless" I shouted the dragon leaping on the bed squishing my lower half with his legs and tail, as his torso and wings take the empty space I produce on the large bed. Toothless just gives a gummy grin shifting the blanket over us. "Ye sure your not a dog, ye act like one more than ye do a dragon." The only response I got was a huff.

I ignored the dragon that was currently taking most of the bed and started to eat. It wasn't long until I heard uneven footsteps and loud cawing. Hiccup carefully opened the door glancing around the room as if something was about to eat him. After a while of looking at the room and than at me, he sighed in relief.

"So how'd the talk go?" He asks, pulling the blanket off of Toothless who whined curling into himself. "Out toothless you know better than to try and sleep in the bed." Toothless didn't budge, so Hiccup started to yank on his tail.

I chuckled at the two before answering "fine, he's not used to apologizing is he."

Hiccup stopped trying to drag the dragon out of the bed instead coming over to the other side of the bed and finding an empty spot to sit. "No not really, he's kind of lousy at it, but he means it."

"He challenged me to a sword fight is that normal" I ask tilting my head as I stripped another piece of meat off the chicken.

Hiccup's eyes went wide for a moment "No its not, most people don't have the courage to challenge him at anything really."

"Why?"

"Well they say that when he was a baby he popped a dragons head clean off its shoulder." He says as if that explained everything about his dad.

"So my dad lost his leg to a demon bear that was really a prince just changed by magic and that's actually true." I say still not understanding the fear.

"You don't think its true?" He asked, completely ignoring my statement about magic.

I shrug my shoulder "He would have been a wee baby, I don't see that happening. Maybe when he was a child…maybe."

Hiccup just looked at me oddly, but shook his head "Your not afraid of anything are you."

"I'm afraid of my family getting hurt," I mutter, remembering Boo's word about my baby brother.

"Hey" says Hiccup hesitantly taking one my hands that was clenching the plate a little to tight. "I'm sure they'll be alright, if he is anything like you he will be just fine. He has a witch with him after all."

I give a shaky laugh remembering something that Boo used to tell me 'Magic doesn't fix everything dearie.' "I'll feel better when the healer from Corona comes to visit."

"Where is that anyways?"

"Its about a three week travel by boat from Scotland."

"How does your parent even know the royals of Corona if it's that far away."

"A long time ago before I was born the queen got very sick, she was pregnant with her heir. The king sent men all over to try and find a cure, one of them found his way to Scotland. My mum sent our best healers, but nothing helped. My mum went to see if she could help, she stayed with the queen and became friends with her. Eventually the Queen was healed how I'm not sure, but her daughter was born healthy. A beautiful baby lass, however a few days before my mom was supposed to leave for Scotland the princess was abducted. They skewered everywhere for the princess, my mum deploying our own ships to help find her, but she was lost. For eighteen years she was missing, until about last year she some how came home. My mum and I had a fight before her crowning as princess so I wasn't allowed to go, so I never meet the lass."

"But she's suppose to be a good healer" he asks, looking skeptical.

"She must be if Boo asked her for help claims to have brought the dead back to life." I say, hoping that the healer of Corona was all Boo said she would be.

"I'm sure everything will work out." Hiccup says giving me a small smile although I'm pretty sure that Hiccup still doesn't believe too much in magic.

"I'm sure it will." I say taking a deep breath, putting the plate back on the nightstand. "Well don't we have a class to get to?" I say hoping to change the subject to something more positive.

"Oh yah…right…we better go if we don't want to be late." Hiccup says standing up. "Come on Toothless." He says, the dragon gave a roar of protest, but slithered his way out of the bed the blanket still on top of him.

I laugh as I stood up pulling the blanket off Toothless. Crow landed on my shoulder, "Just what the world needs more dragons" he cawed, burying himself in my hair.

"Behave yourself Crow." I say scratching his head.

"And no flying" Hiccup says, walking out of the room.

"Why can't he fly?" I ask following Hiccup and Toothless down the stairs

"I told my dad his wing was hurt so we are taking care of him. So no flying and no talking."

"Stupid Viking couldn't come up with a better lie," Crow shouted, earning a snarl from Toothless. Crow just expanded his wings in a what gesture.

"Crow what did I just say" Crow muttered to himself, but stayed silent.

We started to make our way to the village, Hiccup telling me how this is a beginner class, with people around the ages of twelve to fourteen. He explained how these riders have had their dragons since the dragons were babies, but have never ridden them before. First he starts with riding the dragons on the ground, to get used to a dragons speed and movement, and than they take to the skies. They stay close to the island usually just circling it. The more experience a rider has the farther they can go. Hiccup explains that some people are natural dragon riders and go through the classes very fast, so not all the riders are based on ages, but rather talent. He explains how the older generations have a harder time being riders and the older dragons are not known for being the best dragons to ride, but the younger generation in both species finds it easier to interact with each other.

I nod every once in a while noticing that Hiccup was right; when I saw a younger child in the village they always had a baby dragon of some sort with them. While the teenagers were a mix some had older grown dragons, some having their own baby dragons. However only a few older Vikings had a dragon following them, and if they did it was usually a younger one. The older dragons although present in the village, usually didn't stay in the center they choose the outer rims or cliff areas.

This time we weren't going to the arena, we were going to a practice field that Hiccup and the other designed a sort of racetrack for the dragons. Hiccup explained that today was going to deal with the ground speed of a dragon rather than its flight.

After a while of walking we finally made it to the racetrack that Hiccup was talking about. It was a dirt track with numerous hills and tight turns; eventually the track disappeared into the forest near by. As we walked closer I could see target boards next to certain hills or turns. Finally I could see the student, they were all waiting, their dragons beside them looking just as eager as young Vikings.

Hiccup gives a small smile and says "this is usually the age that Vikings train to hunt, track, and kill dragons. Now they are learning to ride them." He shakes his head chuckling.

"Why is that what changed" I ask, watching as Hiccup's cheek turn slightly red.

"It's ahhhh a long story," he says rubbing his neck in embarrassment.

"I told you mine," I say giving Hiccup a look that pretty much told him that he was going to tell his story.

Hiccup gave a groan "fine at dinner when we are alone." I nod my head thinking that I could probably ask why people were so paranoid around here.

As we walk closer to the racetrack I could see a bunch of weapons on a table close to the beginning of the track, so I ask Hiccup what they were used for, my eyes drawn to the bow resting against the table, the arrows right beside it.

"Some of the older riders placed targets all around the track. They try to see how many bull's eyes they can make while riding the dragon at top speed. The fastest time or the most bull eyes made either decide the winner. It can get pretty competitive." I nodded my head showing I understood, but I couldn't help but think how different it would be to shoot an arrow on the back of a dragon, wondering if it would be different than riding on Angus.

I gave Toothless a glance; he glanced back at me tilting his head. His ears started to twitch, but he looked at the track and me, he must have gotten my meaning because he gave me his gummy smile. Hiccup was in front of us so he didn't catch our glances.

"You two coming" he shouts when he notices that we weren't behind him. I winked at Toothless before we ran to catch up to Hiccup. 'This might actually be fun.' I thought, as Hiccup placed me off to the side by the weapon table as he began his lesson.
