Scaling Down the Fun!

Part 19. Heartbreak and Hissing!
At the Seville Home...
Uncle Adam placed a tray in front of the Chipmunks and said,.
"Here they are boys, what do you think?"
Alvin and his brothers looked at what rested on the tray.
Three golden heart-shaped pendants with a colorful jewel at the center.
Each stone was as unique as their girlfriends.
Dazzling and hard was … A Pink Diamond for Brittany.
Next to it …. A Royal Purple Amethyst for Jeanette.
The last one was... A Gorgeous Green Emerald for Eleanor.
The Chipmunks were momentarily at a loss for words.
Alvin regained his senses and said," You have out done yourself Uncle Adam!"
"These are just beautiful! The girls will really love them!", said Simon.
Awed by how the Emerald reminded him of Eleanor's eyes, Theodore turns
to Uncle Adam and says,"Can we give them to the girls today?"
The elder Seville looked into Theodore's hope filled eyes and said,
"That is a great idea! Your special ladies would really love it.
Say... Why not clean and groom up yourselves. Go for broke!
Dress up proper for this special moment!..."
Alvin smiled and said," Uncle.. I love the way you think!.. Come on Bros...
We're Putting on the Ritz!"
As they raced away to the bathroom, Uncle Adam made a phone call.
He looked around to see if it was clear and said,"Now Professor Crashcup..."
The jewels on the pendants flashed for a brief moment.
On the cellphone, Crashcup's voice asked,"Did they light up?"
Adam R. Seville answered," The tracking signal is now active..
We will know where they are at all times."
Later that afternoon...
Lunch is being served...
Miss Miller, the Chipettes, and Uncle Adam sat at the table. The only ones not present
were: Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.
Dave started to wonder,"Do the boys know; what is going on with the girls?"
He then called out," Boys!... It's lunch time!..."
"We're Here!" Came an announcement from the floor.
Dave, Miss Miller, and the Chipettes looked amazed by the boys appearance.
Uncle Adam smiled as each of the boys, (wearing dashing suits),
hopped up on the table.
Alvin and his brothers each had a black, silk,bag in their grips.
They walked up to their sweethearts and looked at them fondly.
Then they presented each girl with a heart shaped pendant.
"I got to get you into my life!", said Alvin to Brittany.
"I can't help falling in love with you!..", Simon says to Jeanette.
"I just want to be... Your Sweet Teddy bear!", sang Theodore to Eleanor.
The boys then clasped the charms around the girls necks.
Giving each a kiss on the cheek.
"This makes us officially steady." said Alvin.
Brittany and her sisters were overwhelmed with joy and sadness...
They looked at the inscriptions on the back of their pendants.
The sisters looked at each other and started to weep.
Alvin, confused by this re-action, turned to Dave and said,"Did we do something wrong?"
Dave looked a little uncomfortable.
He drew a deep breath and said,"The girls aren't feeling so well.
They will have to be out of town for a few days. On rest leave..."
"Couldn't we look after them?...", asked a hopeful Theodore.
Miss Miller looked kindly at Theodore and said," I'm sorry dear boy.
Mother Nature gave the girls her special present..."
Simon understood. He went over to Alvin; and whispered in his ear.
Alvin had such a sad look on his face.
Latter that night...
Singing voices are heard on top of the Seville house.
The three brothers sat next to Simon's observatory.
Singing,"Always on my mind..",with tears flowing down their cheeks.
"Now boys.. Don't take it too hard.. You know the girls love you.",
said Uncle Adam, who noticed the tears and gave them all tissues...
Then there was a sound from below.. It was coming from inside the house.
This was not normal. Dave was gone.
He had taken Miss Miller and the girls to the health resort and wouldn't be back 'till latter.
At the health resort...
The Chipettes now are settled in their room.
Jeanette, who had been silent since they left, stared at Simon's gift of love.
Tears rode down her cheeks. She cried out,"It's not fair!
Simon looked so crushed; after he found out what was wrong with us!"
She then broke down and cried into her pillow.
Eleanor sat beside her big sister. She stroked the back of her head. Giving some comfort.
From the bathroom, Brittany replied,"The only one to blame is Nature.
Why couldn't it hit us a few after we finished school. We would be with our guys and married."
Jeanette, out of character said,"I don't care! I want my Simon!
I'm yearning for him!"
Brittany looked at her sister Eleanor and said," I hope our Love Fever passes quick!
This is freaking me out!"
Back at the Seville home...
Uncle Adam searched the house for the source of the noise.
Armed with a chimney poker in one hand and a flash light in the other; he searched.
A sudden pouncing sound came from behind.
Spinning around, he aimed the beam of light at the intruder.
A huge, hissing, growling, and spitting alley cat! Somehow it made it's way inside.
It was big enough to kill and eat all the Chipmunks.
Uncle Adam called out," Alvin! Stay up on the roof with your Brothers!
I'll tell you when It's safe to come down!"
Uncle Adam looked for a way to catch the beast. He got an idea when he spied his trench-coat.
Taking it off the hanger in the hall and holding it aloft.
With one quick motion, Uncle Adam Flash blinded the Cat.
Then he scooped it with the trench-coat.
From the rooftop, the Chipmunks cringed with fear at the size of the feline , which
growled and hissed underneath Uncle Adam's trench-coat.
The elder Seville was heard saying,"Time for you to go! You Nasty Moggie!"
A smiling,pale figure, sat in his car.
He saw The Chipmunk's guardian ushering the cat out. His ploy worked..
They won't be checking out the house for the other visitors, who are in hiding.
The Pesterminator started his car and began his journey to the health resort.
He was confident that soon the Chipmunks would not live to see another night.
