Scaling Down the Fun!

Part 23. A Meeting of Old Friends
10:45 P.M. Lake Isabella
A helicopter lands West of a peninsula, at the South part of the lake.
Two figures walk up to a road that seems remote from civilization.
Then again appearances can be deceiving...
A quick left turn revealed a driveway. The pair calmly strode up the walkway.
Quite a remote location. A garage and two houses.
Surrounded by ring of tall trees, which provided both shade and privacy.
Behind the house East of the driveway...
A large black figure walks next to one of the large trees.
It is Brutus, The Great Dane.
On his head rode Eleanor and in his jaws, he gently carries Jeanette.
Eleanor then said,"Give her to me.."
The great dog raised his head to where Eleanor was clinging to the tree.
She positioned her semi-lucid sister across her back
She petted Brutus's nose and said, "Please get my sister Brittany. If you can't ..
Protect her."
The Great Dane gave a sad whine then turned tail and headed back to the house West of the trees.
Eleanor then with Jeanette in tow, scurried up the tall tree.
From that location she could look around her location.
North of the lake was a mountain ridge. Outlined by the stars and moonlight.
She looked East of the lake. She sees the silhouette of great sequoias
and something huge shining in the moonlight. Startled by it's approach.. Eleanor scurried down into the tree's denser areas.
Inside that house...
Sasha was knocking at the door to her father's den. He had just got off the phone; when he opened the door for her.
"What 's wrong my dear?", he asked.
The girl looked sadly at her father and said, " The girl chipmunks wanted to watch a music channel.
They saw the news about The death of The Chipmunks. They screamed, then cried.
Now one doesn't even move. She looks like shes going to die..."
Mr. Formidolosi then realized that he may have over spiked the pomegranate juice.
He then said,"We must give her some water. Perhaps she'll come around. Go get a syringe."
Now his deal may be ruined. Mr. Lozier had just phoned him and notified him
of his time of arrival.
He then rushed to his daughter's room...
10:55 P.M. From the East of the lake...
The great airship approached and it's crew readied for the rescue mission.
"The satellite trackers have located the girls position. One signal is in a fixed location.
The other signals are just East of that location", said the technician.
Uncle Adam then spoke," Get a fix on the two strong signals.
Now where are the infra red goggles I asked for.."
He then entered the chamber in which Dave and The Chipmunks waited.
He looked at his chipmunk godchildren and said,"Boys... The time for action is now!
Alvin you are to go with team 1. Lead by Captain Vasquez. …
Simon and Theodore.. You are coming with me and team 2."
Entering the center cargo hold of the airship.. The teams readied for their mission.
The cargo doors at the bottom of the ship opened
Team 1. Six of the best picked Marines , readied to repel the long ropes to the ground.
Alvin clutched tightly To the team Captain as he quickly zipped down the line.
Team 2. manned a winch. It lowered Adam Roscoe Seville and his charges slowly to the tree tops below them.
He monitored the signal strength of his tracker.
When it buzzed wildly, he told the crew to hold position. With the infra red goggles he was able to find two small heat signatures.
Grabbing a branch he then said,"Simon, Theodore... Your girls are in there.
It's too thick for me to reach them. It's up to you now!
From inside the tree..
Eleanor tries to wake Jeanette, who is hardly breathing.
"Please stay with me Jeanette.. I already lost my love and I don't want to lose you too...", she says while weeping.
She then hears the sound of snapping branches.
Frightened and clutching her sister tight; Eleanor yells," Don't come any closer. I've got claws and I'm not afraid to use them!"
Then there was a bright light and a figure, (holding an LED key chain light), came closer.
Fear melted away and joy filled her heart... "Theodore!", she cried as she raced to hug him.
Simon raced to Jeanette. He called to her..
She weakly opened her eyes when she heard his voice.
She forced a smile then collapsed in his arms.
Simon and the others quickly rushed her to the basket, that Uncle Adam held.
Team 2. quickly hoisted the group up to the airship.
At the Formidolosi house...
Mr. Formidolosi was having trouble getting to the dollhouse; in which he kept the Chipettes.
Sasha forgot to close the door to her room.
Now Brutus, The Great Dane boldly stands between him and his big payday.
Any step toward the playhouse resulted in the dog growling or barking wildly.
After she closed the rear dog door, Sasha had come back with one of the dog's chew toys.
This was an attempt to bribe Brutus.
Before Mr. Formidolosi could try his idea; the doorbell rang. He went to answer it.
Leaving his daughter to try to coax the dog out.
He opened the door and Thomas Lozier was there.
So was a face he hadn't seen in years.
The figure who stood there said,"Igor Formidolosi... It's been a very long time. Good to see you again.."
Outside...
The ground troops approached the house toward the back.
They were about to kick in the door when they hear two gun shots ring out.
Captain Vasquez said,"Alvin stay here with the medic."
He ran with the others to the front of the house. When they got there; a helicopter was seen flying away.
The captain and team turned and walked into the house. Cautiously the team walked down a hallway.
They heard a child crying.
Captain Vasquez quickly put away his gun and approached her.
He said,"Little one... What happened?"
" A big mean man shot my dog and hurt my Papa!", Sasha said with tears streaming down her face.
Captain Vasquez looked in her room. He then calls for the team medic and vet.
Afterward the family and pet where taken on board the airship.
There a vet stabilized the dog and the medic treated Mr. Formidolosi.
He regained consciousness and was greeted by a voice which spoke in Romanian,"My! You're a mess."
He looked up and said,"Roscoe! Is that you my friend?..."
The elder Seville said,"Igor! What am I going to do with you?
Here I come to kick your butt and now I'm saving it.
Tell me who you were working for and who's got the Chipette?"
In a nearby room...
Simon,Theodore, and Eleanor were sitting by Jeanette, who was recovering.
Sasha was wiping her tears.
She then hears Jeanette's voice, saying," The nurse just told me.. That your dog Brutus, is doing fine."
The girl then walked to the cot were Jeanette lay with an I.V. to re-hydrate her.
"What of my papa?",asked Sasha.
" He's doing fine.",answered the voice from behind her.
There was her father. Sporting a eye patch and bandages. He lifts up his daughter. Then he turns to the chipmunk and chipette couples.
With a feeling of shame he said,"I'm so sorry for doing those horrible things to you.
I did not know that you were my old friend's family. If I knew... I wouldn't have done it."
At the front of the Airship...
Alvin was feeling downhearted.. He came so close to getting Brittany back..
Only to have her snatched away.
Dave sat beside him and rubbed his back. Alvin looked up at his adopted father.
Then he hears him say,"You may be down, but your not out!"
Captain Vasquez approached them and said,"We have a fix on your girlfriend's location.
It's North by Northwest and it's stationary.
We'll be there in under an hour. I think you should rest 'till then."
Alvin's hopes were again raised.
He climbed up on Dave's lap and said,"Dave... Wake me when we get close."
