Theme 40: Rated

"She's adorable Mama" Kagome gushed "Rin's quieter than Shippo, but when she talks she has this sweet little voice, and she'd really polite, she calls me 'Nee-chan'. But boy, when she's not shy and gets exited like when she's fishing or theirs flowers, that girl can talk. For hours at a time, and Inuyasha's the only one who can get her to quieten down with a 'Quiet Rin" Kagome imitated the deep, calm tone of Inuyasha. "You know, I always wanted a little sister" she sighed happily as she settled into the great hair in the sitting room.

"Hey!" Souta called from the kitchen.

"I love you too Souta" Kagome replied "I get to have a little brother here and a little sister there."

Mrs Higurashi chuckled as Kagome snuggled into her blanket with a cup of coffee as snow fell softly outside the window.

"And she follows Inuyasha around like a little duckling. Sango and Miroku were sure it wouldn't last and he'd get annoyed with her after a while, Miroku even made a bet with Shippo. But it's been weeks since Rin became a part of our team and he treats her so kindly. He's really come a long way from that ice-jerk I used to know, I think we've come a long way. The two of us, I like to think we're friends; we've even evolved onto full conversations now. It's nice that he's starting opening up to me."

"I'm sure it is" Mrs Higurashi nodded.

"Yesterday mama, Inuyasha pretended he was training but instead he was watching Rin learn to catch river fish and when she gets too tired he hoists her up onto Kirara and walks beside her and…" Kagome trailed off as she noticed the gleam in her other's eye.

"What?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing. I'm just admiring that lovely glow on your face." Mrs Higurashi smiled.

"G-glow?"

"Yep, it's so cute, I must say, I haven't seen you so happy in a long time. These days you have so many good things to say about him, when before you were so distressed over his change. It used to be that every time you visited, all you'd ever tell me is how he irritated you, and his cold behaviours, his cruel words and all that."

Kagome turned her head, without noticing the faint blush on her cheeks "Yeah, well, he's different now mama." She smiled "He's changing. Sure he was this complete jack-ass at first, but now not so much. I guess at first I was so focused on the Inuyasha I knew, that I kept comparing them so I saw only his faults. But now...I'm seeing all the good I missed, the good I sometimes wonder if he missed too."

Mrs Higurashi looked at her daughter smiling into her coffee cup, a dapple of red on her cheeks and a peculiar look in her eyes and let out a smile. "You like him?"

"Of course I do mama, we've become friends and…"

"No, I mean, you like him"

Kagome dropped her cup.
