"Callie?"

Callie walked back into her bedroom from the en suite bathroom fixing her earing to find Arizona standing with her back to her, her high-heeled leg already on and her little black dress still open at the back. Arizona turned around at the sound of footsteps and smiled at the red dress her wife wore, her every curve accentuated perfectly.

"Could you zip me up please?"

"It would be my pleasure." Callie all but purred as she walked further into the room. She kissed Arizona's shoulder as she slowly brought the zipper to the top before kissing her exposed neck, Arizona moving her head to the side to give her playful wife greater access. Callie continued to place small kisses all over Arizona's shoulders and neck as her hands slipped around her waist and pulled her body closer.

"Cal...Callie...we have to stop or we'll never make it to the dinner."

Callie sighed and stopped her ministrations. She walked around until she was face to face with Arizona, a mock pout on her face. "Well maybe I don't want to go." Callie looped her arms around Arizona's waist again while Arizona's circled her neck. "Maybe I would rather stay here and take that dress back off of you. 'Cause as beautiful as you look in it, I think it would look even better on our bedroom floor."

Callie swayed them gently as Arizona laughed before leaning forward and placing the lightest of kisses on Callie's lips. "I swear. You are a horny little devil."

Callie leaned down slightly and kissed Arizona's lips a little more forcefully. "Why do you think I look so good in red?" Callie lightly tapped Arizona's butt before taking her hand. "Come on, let's get this over with. We have other things I want to do tonight and they don't involve kissing up to other people or seeing that Boswell bitch."

Arizona grinned at her wife as Callie led them out of the bedroom. Ever since a couple of nights ago when their sex life restarted they'd been going at it like bunnies. First the on call room last night and then when they got home they continued on until the early hours of that morning, Arizona fulfilling her promise to pay Callie back, worshiping every inch of her wife's beautiful body. Then again in the morning and once more at lunch time in Arizona's office, their busy days not interfering with their mutual need to touch each other all the time. They had waited long enough and it had been so worth it and neither of them were planing on it stopping anytime soon and they still had their valentines weekend to look forward to. Callie and Arizona walked out together to find Sofia colouring with her favourite babysitter Rosie. Sofia put down her crayon and ran over to her mommies.

"Wow Mama, you look pretty."

Arizona leaned down and kissed Sofia's head as Callie folded her arms across her chest, the pretend pout back on her face. "What about me?"

Sofia looked up at her slightly taller mother, a sheepish smile on her face. "You look pretty too Mommy. Do I look pretty?"

Sofia twirled around in her Dora nightgown to the laughter of her parents and Rosie. "You look very pretty my princess. Come on, kisses. Your Mama and I have to go."

With a kiss each from their baby girl, a thank you to Rosie and an assurance they wouldn't be too late they took the elevator to the parking garage and to their car. Arriving ten minutes later, Callie handed the keys to the valet, retook Arizona's hand and led them up the red carpet and into the same theatre they'd used for the fundraising extravaganza after the storm. Callie couldn't help but giggle to herself as they entered the door as she accepted an offered glass of champagne. Arizona took a sip of her own glass and looked over at her still giggling wife.

"What? What's so funny?"

Callie waved her away as she sipped her champagne. "It's nothing." Arizona gave her a look so she explained. "It's just, being in this room brought back a couple of memories. Like seeing how beautiful you looked from across the room and not being able to say it to you."

Arizona smiled at her wife and took another sip. "I thought maybe you were thinking of the time when you told people I was dead."

Callie choked a little on her drink. "You know about that? Why didn't you say anything?"

Arizona let a giggle of her own escape. "Relax Callie. April over heard and she told me about it in our little closet drinking session. We toasted my 'death' with a couple more drinks and we had fun and considering you helped me into bed that night and took such good care of me I didn't want to start a fight by confronting you about it and really, when I thought about it after it was kind of funny. Why did you do it by the way?"

Callie looked embarrassed knowing she'd been caught out by something she was hoping she would never have to tell Arizona about. "I'm not proud of doing it. I was just so thrown when I saw you that night, I needed to put you out of my mind and the only thing I could think of was to say yes when this guy asked me if you had died in the crash. Don't worry, karma bit me in the ass for it."

"What are you talking about?"

"This woman latched onto me. Wouldn't stop talking about her own dead husband the whole time, how she spent all of her nights on the couch with her cats and how he used to whisper 'I love you' in her ear every night. Don't get me wrong, I like cats, but I don't care how badly my life is going, I will never be a sad cat lady. The only thing that saved me was one of the performers breaking her leg."

Arizona laughed at the expression on Callie's face as a shiver ran down her spine at the memory. "There was one good thing that came out it all. Because of you telling people I was dead, it felt like you were giving up on me. So I got drunk with April and then when you had to help me into bed that night, well that gave me the push I needed to get help."

Callie took the glass from Arizona's hand and put them on a table near them, taking Arizona's now empty hands in her own. "I never told you but I am really glad you did. I don't think I could have even contemplated forgiving you if you didn't get some help and worked out for yourself why you treated me like you did. I know we aren't the same people we were before the crash but remember how I told you we needed to see if we could even fit in each other's lives anymore?"

Arizona nodded as Callie took a breath. "I think it's safe to say we fit together better than ever before. We took our time and we worked on us and it paid off. I walk around all day with that song 'Happy' in my head because that's how I really feel."

Arizona smiled broadly before she pulled Callie closer to her. "And I feel the same way. Hey, what do you say we go have one of those make out sessions we talked about. I'm already bored."

"And you call me a horny little devil." Callie closed the distance and kissed a laughing Arizona before looking around and discreetly pulling her wife into a store room when no one was looking, Arizona squealing as Callie pulled them closer together in the dimly lit room. A half an hour later they emerged, Cristina giving them a knowing look as they made their way to their table, greeting other staff as they moved through the room. Callie pulled out the chair for Arizona before greeting Erica and Natalie.

"Hey guys, how's your night going?"

Erica smirked at Callie. "Not as good as yours is obviously."

While Callie gave her former girlfriend a mock glare Arizona blushed as she groaned and put her head on Callie's shoulder, her voice low. "Why is it everyone seems to know when we've had alone time?"

Natalie answered for her, Arizona's voice not quite low enough apparently. "Because you both glow and you can't stop looking at or touching each other. It's cute really."

Arizona groaned again as dinner was placed in front of them, Callie kissing her palm before they dug in, chatting away about hospital gossip, recent surgeries and Erica's chances of winning the award. After they finished eating Callie excused herself to use the ladies room and was washing her hands when her nightmare walked into the room. Lauren locked the door and blocked her path as Callie looked up from the sink and finally noticed her.

"Hello Dr Torres."

Callie wiped the excess water from her hands with a paper towel and threw the ball into the trash. Speaking of trash, Callie turned her attention to the doctor before her, her hands folded across her chest and leaning against the sink. "What do you want Boswell? I'm in too good a mood for your shit."

"I think it's time you and I had a real talk."

"I've said all I have to say to you and quite frankly, it's not worth losing my job being seen anywhere near you. So if you don't mind, could you get the fuck out of my way so I can get back to my wife and friends."

Lauren folded her arms across her chest and continued to block the door. "You know what? I was going to talk to you like a person, maybe reason with you so you could see that Arizona and I belong together and if you had any pride left you would walk away, but you're making it very hard for me."

Callie shook her head as she pushed off the sink and moved closer to Lauren. "You would have to be the most delusional person I have ever met. You need to get help. Arizona doesn't want you, we are married and we are happy. You need to get a clue and you need to move on. ARIZONA DOESN'T WANT YOU." Callie took a moment to control her temper, Catherine and Owen's speech from the day before running around in her head. "Stay away from Dr Boswell. You can't go around attacking one of our nominees. You will be fired if I so much as hear about you going anywhere near Dr Boswell."

Callie tried to move towards the still blocked door. "Now will you please get out of my way so I can get back to the dinner."

Lauren smiled. "I don't think I will. I think I'll do this instead. HELP! SOMEONE HELP ME! SHE'S HITTING ME. HELP!"

Callie looked like a deer caught in the headlights, her eyes wide as Lauren yelled at the top of her lungs. "What are you doing?"

And then like the psycho Callie thought she was, Lauren punched herself in the eye, repeatedly, her laughter like a witches cackle at the horrified expression on Callie's face. The bruise was already starting to form as people on the other side started to knock and yell in response to the commotion behind the locked door. Lauren smirked at Callie before she finally opened the door and all but collapsed into the arms of those waiting outside to help her. If they were giving out Oscars tonight instead of Harper Avery Awards she would've have been the odds on favourite to take home the prize.

As Lauren wailed and moaned Callie stood in the same spot near the entrance of the ladies room, unsure if everything she'd just seen had really happened or if she was dreaming. The glares she received from Catherine Avery, Owen and the other guests were enough to tell her it was all too real. Callie finally saw Arizona through the crowd, her eyes betraying the concern she had for her wife as everyone else helped Lauren to a chair, a waiter running over with an ice pack for her already swollen eye. Arizona quickly made her way through the throng and to Callie's side.

"What happened?"

Callie finally found her voice as she herself looked on at the acting performance before them. "She hit herself." Callie looked Arizona, hoping beyond hope that she would believe her.

Arizona nodded and let the smallest of smiles cross her face before cradling her worried wife's face in her hands. "Callie I believe you, but look at her." Arizona pointed to the almost hysterical woman milking it for all it was worth. "How are we going to prove it?"

Callie sighed, at least knowing her wife believed her made her feel a little bit better, but not much. "I don't know, I really don't."

"I think I can help you with that."

Arizona whirled around as Callie looked past her wife at April Kepner. April held up her phone and smiled at her friends. "See, the funny thing about morning sickness is it doesn't just get ya in the mornings." April looked over at Boswell before turning back to a stunned Callie and Arizona. "And before you try to set someone up you really should check there's no one in the other stalls."

"Are you telling me you have the whole thing on your phone?"

April grinned at Callie, the relief on her face shining through when the auburn haired woman answered her. "Yep. The minute I heard her voice the hairs went up on the back of neck and my first instinct was to make sure you were okay. When I heard the commotion I quietly nudged open my stall door and I guess she was too busy goading you and beating the crap out of herself to notice me. I recorded all but the first couple of sentences, but yeah, I definitely got Boswell punching herself. You know something? This is gonna go great on you-tube."

Callie pulled a surprised April into a hug as Arizona joined in, her arms surrounding the other two, a laugh escaping Callie's lips knowing Lauren Boswell would not get away with her little scheme. As they were disengaging the ground hug the other people in the crowd finally noticed them. Catherine stormed over, her hands on her hips, Owen right behind her.

"Do you think this is funny Dr Torres? Were we not clear enough yesterday? Did you think we were joking?" Catherine pointed a finger in her direction before placing her hands on her hips again. "You are fired."

Arizona stepped in front of her wife, her need to protect Callie from the menace she brought into their lives overshadowing her fear of an authority figure.

"You can't do this to Callie."

"The hell I can't Dr Robbins."

"Arizona here. Show her the video."

April handed the phone to Arizona who turned on the video and thrust it into Catherine's face. "Please, just watch."

Owen stood silently beside Catherine as they focused their attention on the video now playing, clearly showing the confrontation between Callie and Lauren, the video starting when Callie told Lauren that Arizona didn't want her. Catherine turned to Owen, looked over at Lauren who was still under the attention of all the concerned people surrounding her and then finally to Callie and Arizona, their hands firmly clasped together in nervousness. Even though Callie knew she did nothing wrong she was still worried how things would ultimately work out. Catherine finished viewing the video before clicking off the phone and handing it back to Arizona who returned it to April, Matthew standing beside his pregnant wife, an arm around her shoulder in support.

"Did you start this or did she Dr Torres?"

Callie held her head high and answered. "She followed me into the bathroom Dr Avery. I did nothing wrong."

April moved forward and held up her hand. "Dr Avery, I will swear on the bible that it was Dr Boswell who started this. Dr Torres is completely innocent."

Catherine had been given a brief history of everything that had transpired between Callie, Arizona and Lauren from Owen and her son but she had a feeling, judging by what she had seen on the video and her own observations of Lauren Boswell over the past couple of days that Callie was indeed innocent and Catherine had learned over the years to trust her instincts, they had always served her well. Callie might have a temper sometimes and she might fly off the handle but everyone, and she meant everyone, had told Catherine how compassionate and caring Callie Torres was.

"I was wrong and I hope you will accept my most sincere apologies Dr Torres, you are most certainly not fired. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some business to take care of." Catherine's voice took on a distinctly venomous tone as she walked away, Owen giving Callie's arm a squeeze and a brief smile before following after Catherine.

Erica came up behind Callie, Natalie right beside her as she placed a hand on her shoulder, giving it a squeeze. "You okay Callie?"

Callie nodded. "I'm fine, but I think Lauren Boswell is about to get the full brunt of one Catherine Avery and if she's as scary as Jackson says she can be, well, I almost feel sorry for Boswell. Almost."

Callie breathed a sigh of relief as Catherine got in Lauren's face and all but hauled her out of the chair she was sitting on. "Dr Boswell...you are a miserable excuse for a human being and I am ashamed you are even associated with the Harper Avery Foundation. How dare you use this prestigious organisation for these kind of shenanigans. You tried to set up a fellow doctor and for what?"

Lauren got right back in Catherine's face, not even trying to deny the charges. "Arizona and I belong together. We are in love and no one is standing in my way this time."

"The only thing you are young lady is a nut job. I'm gonna give you one minute to get the hell out of here before I call security and have your scrawny ass thrown out."

Lauren looked around for an ally but found none. Everyone looked at her like she was a piece of gum on their shoes, the glares she received could melt steel. She moved slowly through the parting crowd and over to Arizona, trying one last time to plead her case.

"Arizona please. Come away with me. We can make a life together."

Callie stepped in front of Arizona this time. "Walk away Boswell or I really will punch you and give you a matching pair."

Even after everything Lauren still smirked at Callie. "It might not be me but one day Dr Torres, mark my words, she will fuck someone else, she will cheat on you again and on that day you'll be wishing she had walked away with me."

If someone had said those words to Callie six months ago she might very well have believed them but she had come to trust Arizona again. It had taken time and patience but her faith in her wife had been restored and no home wrecker was going to get in the way of that. Arizona may not be the same person she was before the crash and yes, she had made mistakes but she owned those mistakes and they were ones she would never repeat again and Callie had absolute faith in that fact.

Instead of giving her the satisfaction by continuing their confrontation Callie simply smiled at Lauren Boswell. "Have a nice life Dr Boswell."

Callie turned her back on Lauren for the last time, took Arizona's hand and walked away. She was determined to be the bigger person and as satisfying as it would feel to land one on that smug face it wasn't worth it. Lauren had been exposed for the person she really was and that in itself brought closure. The rest of the crowd followed Callie's example and turned their back on Lauren as Catherine motioned for the security guards to come over, pointing to Lauren who soon found herself with a burly man on either side of her, almost picking her off the ground as they took an arm each.

"You can't do this to me. Take your hands off me! Let me go!"

Callie sat heavily in her chair as the last echoes of Lauren Boswell faded, the door shutting forever on that chapter of their lives. Arizona sat beside her, her hand gently caressing Callie's cheek.

"Are you really okay Callie?"

Callie smiled and closed the distance, kissing Arizona's lips gently before pulling back and seeing the smallest frown on Arizona's face. "You know I would never cheat on you again right?"

"I know Arizona. She was just trying to get a rise of out of me but it won't work. I trust you Arizona. I trust you to be faithful and most importantly, I trust you with my heart."

Arizona threw her arms around Callie's neck and kissed her deeply, not caring who could see. To know that after everything they'd been through, after everything she had put Callie through that they were still sailing together on the ocean of life, their ups and downs like waves, tossing them around sometimes but never capsizing them made her so happy. Arizona felt a single tear trickle down her face, Callie wiping it away as Catherine sought everyone's attention. They kissed once more before turning to the stage, Catherine clearing her throat before beginning her speech. Across the table Erica tightly gripped Natalie's hand, her nervousness now on high alert at the award being announced.

"Well this has to be the most interesting Harper Avery Awards Dinner I've ever been associated with." A murmur of laughter trickled around the room as she continued. "So how about we get to the real reason we're here tonight, to give this prestigious award to a most deserving of candidates. All of the doctors on our list are pioneers in their respective fields and they should all be applauded for their dedication in making the world a better place through medicine and science.

A round of clapping rang around the room before dying down as Catherine resumed her speech. "The doctors before you bring hope to millions and make positive changes to the lives of everyone with new ideas, a fresh look at established techniques and following their dreams, dreams of making the world better, one step and one patient at a time. Our winner has revolutionised their field, bringing new innovations that have already saved lives and in doing so represent the best of what we hope to achieve in the ever changing field of medicine. So without further ado, ladies and gentlemen, the Harper Avery Award for 2014 goes to...Dr Erica Hahn.

Erica looked beyond shocked as Natalie pulled her out of her chair and kissed her to within an inch of her life. "I'm so proud of you baby, you did it." Erica finally looked around as it gradually sunk in that she really had won. Callie and Arizona took turns giving her a hug before she slowly made her way through the crowd, people congratulating her every step of the way to the podium. Erica accepted her award from Catherine before clearing her throat and beginning her acceptance speech as the applause quieted down.

"Thank you Dr Avery and thank you to the Harper Avery Foundation for this honor. Most of us become doctors because something in us wants to save lives, we have something deep down that says this is what I am meant to do with my life and it is never about an award but about the lives we save. I would like to thank my beautiful wife Nat and my gorgeous son Steven for being with me every step of the way, for giving me the encouragement and the push I sometimes needed to follow my passion and my dreams. I love you both so much."

As Erica continued her speech, talking about her research and its implications, Callie turned to Arizona and just stared at her wife. "I love you Arizona Danielle Robbins."

Arizona smiled, her dimples popping, a smile taking over her whole face as she turned to Callie. "I love you too Calliope Iphegenia Torres."

A year ago they had almost lost each other. A year ago they both made mistakes, they both stopped listening to each other and it nearly tore them apart. They had made their way back to each other, determined to get it right with patience and understanding. Callie and Arizona had stood on the event horizon but they had not let the forces pull them from each other. With a little help from their family and friends and one very talented therapist they had learned about each other all over again and become one again.

People change opinions and people change their minds and although sometimes forces beyond our control necessitate and influence that change, the core of who we are, the fundamental beliefs that make us who we are, always remain the same. Arizona had learned that although she was a different person after she lost her leg it didn't change who she was deep down inside. The part of her that cheated, a part of her that she despised, was long gone and she was thankful for that and for the fact that she had not lost the people most important to her. Arizona was most thankful that her wife was one of the most understanding people in the world and had given her a second chance to be that happy person again, the one she knew she was deep down inside.

Callie and Arizona congratulated Erica once more before leaving that night, thanking Rosie again when they made it home and although she was asleep, taking turns to kiss Sofia as she slept soundly in her bed. They undressed quietly before snuggling in their bed, holding each after what turned out to be a most interesting night, sex the last thing on their minds after everything that happened.

"Hey Cal?"

"Mmmm?" Callie stroked Arizona's arm that was slung across her stomach, her eyes getting heavier by the second.

"I know we haven't talked about it much yet and I don't want to push the issue but you said you had thought about it too and I know you might be hesitant about trying for another baby after everything that happened but what would you say if I wanted to get pregnant this time?"

Callie's eyes shot wide open, she sat up and looked down at her nervous wife as she finished one of her trademark rambles. Callie grinned and leaned over Arizona, hovering close so they were eye to eye.

"I would say...you look beautiful carrying our child." Callie pecked Arizona's lips lightly. "And I would say...you glow." Callie leaned down to kiss her again. "And I would say...we need a bigger place if we want to do that."

"Really?"

"Yeah. And I would say...let's do it."

Arizona pulled Callie down to her before reversing their position and kissing her like she had no tomorrow, but she did and they did and it would be a journey they would embark on together.

Howdy, Hope you all enjoyed this. I know a lot of you want Callie to punch the daylights out of Boswell but I wanted to go with reality. She would be fired so fast and would probably end up in jail if she did hit her so I hope you liked the twist of hitting herself and having April recording it. Just the epilogue to go now and once again, thank you to everyone reading. Till next time. Tigersforever.
