Touch My Heart - Chapter 20

A/N: Hey again guys! I'm back already with another chapter for you. This one is short, but I didn't want to leave out Joey and Sonny. In this chapter, you will see what happened to Joey after he left for his walk after fighting with Alex, and you will also hear from both Joey and Sonny as they get ready for prom. This chapter is by me, Roxy and by Jen (Rescuemama2007). Hope you all enjoy! - Roxy

P.S.: Please note. This is a slight AU story, which means that some of the characters are OC. Abigail is not related to the Kiriakis' in my story. I don't want anyone to think that they are because, you'll see what I mean. lol!

(Joey's POV)

After a full night of crazy drama (which I'm use pretty use to by now, being a Kiriakis and all), walking in on two of your brothers in compromisable positions (remind me to knock before entering next time), a person needs to clear their minds, which in this case is me getting some fresh air, so decided to take a walk along the pathway leading to the square to grab a quick cup of coffee before the shops closed for the evening.

After grabbing a mocha latte with extra whip cream from the little diner on the corner, I headed out to the nearby park and took a seat on the bench to do some thinking. It was almost nine o'clock and I figured that no one would be around at this time, which was exactly what I needed at the moment. To be alone.

I sat back onto the bench and sighed deeply, trying to process the eventually day that I had when I heard a soft feminine voice speak to me.

"Is this seat taken? You look like you could use a friend?"

I lifted my eyes up and saw the most beautiful creature that I've even seen in my entire life. "Yes...I mean no! You can sit here if you want. It's a public park after all." What the hell am I saying?

"Thanks. I'm Abigail by the way. You're Alex's brother, right?" She offered her hand to greet me. Not only is she beautiful, but she also has kind manners. Lovely!

"Yeah. That would be me." I smiled, completely dumbfounded about why this goddess is even talking to me. I think I might actually be dreaming. "I'm Joey." I said as I offered her my hand in return.

"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Joey." She smiled and shook my hand before relaxing onto the bench next to me.

"Like wise!"

"So, what are you doing out here this late at night?" She asked.

I chuckled at the question. "I guess that I could probably ask you the same thing."

"I guess you're right. Just so you know, I like to come out here at night and walk around. It helps to clear my head. I guess that what you're probably doing at the moment."

"I am actually. Got into it with Alex tonight and needed to get away for a while."

She nodded. "I understand. Guess I should probably leave you to it." Abigail got off the bench and started to leave when I suddenly found myself asking her to stay.

"You don't have to go. I mean...you could stay and we could talk. I could actually use a friend right now."

She smiled brightly and reached out for my hand. "In that case, come with me."

I took her hand without hesitation, even without knowing where she was taking me. "Where are we going?" I asked in curiosity.

"You'll see."

"Are you sure this isn't breaking and entering?" I asked as Abigail lead me through a little gate.

"Of course not, silly. This is my house." She confirmed and I was glad. The last thing I needed was my having to call my father and tell him that I needed his services for a felony.

"Thank god!" I giggled and followed her through the narrow path leading up to a small tree house.

"Here we are! Now climb up!" She ordered.

"You have got to be kidding me?" I proclaimed when I saw how small the latter was.

"Do I look like I'm kidding?"

Oh dear god! She's serious! "No."

"Are you afraid of heights Joey?"

"No, I'm actually afraid that I'm going to break my neck. How much weight can this latter support?"

"Stop being a sissy. It's stronger than it looks. Come on." Abigail started up the latter.

"Please, god! I'm not ready to die." I mumbled out as I followed her up the rope ladder.

"You see? That wasn't so bad." Abigail teased as I reached the last step.

"It was bad enough. Not to mention that I almost got attacked by a that huge crow on my way up here!"

"It was a robin." Abigail laughed as he helped me inside the little tree house.

"It was huge!" I pointed out as I crawled inside the tree house cautiously, praying to god that the floor boards wouldn't give out.

"You're funny, Joey." Abigail smiled and maneuvered her way over to me, and sat down. "So, what do you think?"

"About the bird or about the tree house?" I asked with a playful grin.

"The tree house." She rolled her eyes.

"I like it. It's very, how could I out this...spacious." I joked because there was barely enough room in there for the both of us, which I wasn't complaining about, being that Abigail had to sit very close to me.

"My dad built this for me when I was only six years old. My parents wanted to take it down a few years ago, but I simply refused because I still like coming up here from time to time to think. Makes me feel like a kid again. You know?"

I nodded in acknowledgement. "I know exactly what you mean. My dad keeps telling me to grow up." We smiled at each other briefly before Abigail asked about my troubles. "So, why did you feel the need to get away tonight?"

"You probably wouldn't believe me if I told you." Cause that was the truth.

"Try me!" She offered and waited for me to start.

"Okay, well...I walked in on both my brothers tonight."

"That doesn't sound so bad."

I narrowed my eyes down to the floor. "They were...sorta making out with their boyfriends."

"Wait! What did you just say?" Abigail questioned. "I know about Will and Sonny being together, but you said brothers? Am I missing something here?"

"No, you heard me correctly. I said brothers. Sonny was getting-...let's just say that he was being pleasured sexually, and Alex was making out on his bed with Chad DiMera of all people."

"Wow! I guess that explains why Alex never asked me to the prom." Abigail looked hurt by my confession.

"I'm sorry. I had no idea you had a thing for Alex. I probably shouldn't be talking to you about this." I felt bad for opening my big mouth.

"You know what? It's fine! Who needs prom anyway?" She tried to laugh it off, but I could see that finding out about Alex and Chad truly crushed Abigail.

"You can't miss your senior prom! It's the biggest event of the school year!" I merely pointed out the simple fact.

"Don't you think I know that, Joey? I mean, I've waited my whole life for this event, and with only two weeks away, I have yet to find a someone to go with me."

"Is that why you needed to clear your head tonight?"

She nodded silently.

"I was kinda hoping that Alex would ask me." She sadly admitted.

"Just for the record, I think anyone would be lucky to go with you to prom. You're very kind and beautiful. Sorry..."

Abigail blushed. "No one has ever called me beautiful before."

"Well they must be blind because Abigail, you are very beautiful."

"Thank you for saying that, Joey. It means a lot."

"I'm only telling the truth."

"So, are you going to prom?" She asked, sheepishly looking away.

"I really wanted to go, but I haven't been successful in finding an invitation yet. Nobody wants to go to prom with a sophomore. Guess I might have better luck next year."

"Or, you could go with me and be my prom date?" She offered and I almost choked on my saliva.

"Seriously? You would wanna go to your senior prom with me?" Abigail smiled and shook her head in agreement.

"Why wouldn't I? You're funny, you're sweet, you're-..."

"I'm not Alex, Abigail. You said it yourself that you wanted to go with Alex earlier. I am nothing like my brother, in fact, we are complete opposites, and I don't want you taking pity on me because you know that I really want to go to prom."

"That's not what I'm doing here, Joey. I only wanted to go with Alex because I've known him since kindergarten and I thought he was kinda cute. I never said that I had a crush on the guy."

Is she being honest? "Then what are you saying?"

"What I'm saying is that I would really like for you to be my prom date, Joey."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "Do you mean like a real date?" I asked just to be sure I hear her correctly.

"Like a real date, Joey. If that's what you want." She confirmed.

"I would be honored to go to prom with you, Abigail, but I don't understand why you would wanna go with me. I'm fifteen! Aren't people going to find that strange with you being a senior?"

"Who cares what people think? This is my prom, right? So, I think that means that I'm the one who decides who I want go to the prom with. Will you go with me?" Abigail reached out and took my hands in her own. "I'm being very serious here."

"I don't know what to say...I..." I was lost for words, which doesn't happen very often.

"Maybe you should say yes?" She pried.

"Yes! I'll be your prom date. But don't expect me to get you a corsage or anything. I'm pretty cheap." I teased, squeezing her hands a little tighter.

"Oh, really. Is that so..." Abigail laughed. "I was at least expecting a bouquet or something." She teased back.

"For you my lady, I would get you a whole garden of flowers if it meant that it made you happy." When did I become such a sap?

"A whole garden, hun? Well, in that case, I would love a few rose bushes, some daffodils, and maybe a few-..." She winked.

"Wow, we're not even on our first date yet and already you're planning out our garden." I smiled.

"I work fast!" Abigail smiled and cuddled up close to me.

"I see that." I said, wrapping my arm loosely around her shoulders. "I should probably get back home. It's almost ten and I don't want my dad to worry. Walk me down?" Abigail nodded.

We both got down the ladder in record time, being that I fell off the last few steps. Good thing Abigail was there to break my fall. "Oh my god! Did I hurt you?" I asked as I helped her off the ground.

Abigail chuckled. "I'm fine. Maybe next time, you should go down first." She suggested, wiping the dirt off her jeans.

"Well, thanks for keeping me company tonight and for the prom invitation. But seriously, if you change your mind about going with me, I'll understand."

"I won't change my mind." She smiled and started leaning into placed a kiss on my cheek when I turned my head over slightly, causing her lips to land on my own.

Abigail quickly pulled away, surprised.

"Shit! I'm so sorry, Abigail. I didn't mean for that to-..." I was silenced by Abigail's lips pressing back against my own. And boy did it feel amazing!

For a moment, I thought my imagination was playing tricks on me, but when I felt the brush of her lips moving tentatively against mine own, I knew that I wasn't. Slowly, Abigail and I pulled away from each other blushing. "I'll see you at school tomorrow?" She asked as she started walking backwards towards her house.

I nodded. "Definitely. I'll see you tomorrow." I waved goodbye. "Goodnight, Abigail."

"Goodnight, Joey."

Once Abigail was out of sight and inside her house, I pumped my fists in the air. "Yes! Yes! Yes! I have a date!"

Two weeks later...

I'm looking at my reflection, taking all in as I checked myself one last time before leaving for the prom. I smiled at myself because for the first time in my
life, I was actually looking forward to spending the night out with my brothers, their dates, and of course, Abigail.

I might not have been the one graduating from high school today, but in a way, it kinda felt like I was. Not because I was going to prom or because I was hanging out with a bunch of seniors, but because I growing up and I was more than ready now to start this new chapter in my life. One that included a beautiful young woman by the name of Abigail Deveraux.

Did I forget to mention that she was now my girlfriend? A lot can happen in two weeks!

"Alright, here goes nothing!" I said to myself as I got ready to go help Sonny with his hair (he loves the way I style it), and to pick up Abigail for a night that I'm sure that we both will never forget.

(Sonny's POV)

I looked into the mirror and something just doesn't seem right to me. I fiddle with my bow tie a few more times; it just doesn't look right. I run my fingers through my hair, Joey did such a good job on it, but it doesn't look like me.

I sigh as I hear a knock on my door. "Come in." I choke out before a small tear runs down my cheek.

"Jackson Kiriakis." I heard and turn to face my dad. He had a look that I haven't quite seen before, eyes wide open and mouth gaping as he's looking at me. "You are such a handsome young man Son." He said, walking further into my bedroom.

"No dad, I'm not. Something's not right." I said as the tears start to come uncontrollably. "I don't know why I'm crying dad." I cried, wiping furiously at the tears that refuse to stop flowing. "But I don't look right in this."

"Sonny, take a deep breath for me ok?" I nodded and took in a deep breath. "It's okay Sonny. You look wonderful." he said as he placed his hands on my shoulders and ushered me closer to the mirror. "Open your eyes Sonny, look at your reflection. What do you see?"

"What do you mean dad?" I asked. "I see me." I shrugged again, not quite understanding what he's meant.

"No, not what your eyes see. What does your heart see?" he asked as he patted my chest right above of my heart.

"I see a dorky boy who no one likes. I see that my hair is sticking up because I was stupid and cut it. I see that these pleats on my pants don't go where they're supposed to, and this tie is going to choke me if it gets any tighter." I admitted as I pulled on the tie, failing to loosen it.

"Son, do you know what I see when I look at you?" My dad asked, wrapping his arms around me in a secure hug. "I see a very handsome son, my son. The little bright-eyed and bushy-tailed little boy I once knew has turned into an amazing young man. Look at what you've done in the past year Son. You've learned to talk, almost like you've always been talking. You've learned how to stay calm in situations that would have normally thrown you for a loop. But most of all, Sonny, and this is a big one..." dad paused and took in a deep breath. "You've learned how to love. You love with your whole heart and soul Sonny. This, what you're feeling, is nerves. You're nervous about the prom, and it's perfectly normal."

"Really?" I whispered.

"Really." Dad smiled. "Don't worry Sonny, Will won't know what hit him when he sees you."

My dad released me from his hug and quietly walked out of the door. Maybe he's right, I think as I ran my fingers through my hair one final time. I turn to leave when I notice my brothers are both leaning against the door jam, watching me.

Joey walked in first holding a clear plastic box, which contained the butonieer. "Here's your flower for Will, Son. Pale pink lily with a few sprouts of baby's breath. It's a stunning flower Sonny. Will will be impressed." Joey smiled as he handed me the flower.

Alex pushed off of the wall and walked over to me. "Sonny, what's wrong?" he asked. "I can see your red glassy eyes, I've known you long enough to tell when you're upset. What is it baby brother?" he said as he stopped in front of me and gathering me up in a huge hug.

"I look funny." I say as I drop my eyes to the floor.

"You're handsome Sonny." Joey pointed out, rubbing lazy circles over my back.

"Are you nervous Sonny?" Alex questioned.

"I don't know. Dad said I was." I frowned and sat down on the edge of my bed. Both of my brothers sat down beside of me, and both were now rubbing my back.

"What if Will doesn't like it?" I asked as a small tear threatened to fall again.

"Not possible." I faintly hear Alex whisper.

I smiled, "Are you sure?"

"Absolutely." I heard Will whisper from the doorway. All three of us jump slightly at hearing Will's voice, and I felt my heart racing rapidly inside my chest.

Will slowly walked into the room and my brothers took that as their cue to leave. "Sonny, we'll see you there okay?" Joey smiled and Alex followed behind.

I nod and as they left.

"You are so handsome, Sonny." Will smiled in awe as he slowly approached me.

"You don't look pretty bad yourself" I joked. "Here's your flower Will. I hope you like it." I said as I picked up the flower that Joey just brought in for me to give to Will and pinned it the on his lapel.

Will leaned in to kiss me, and whispered against my lips, "It's beautiful, Sonny. Just like you are. Thank you. I got you something too." Will pointed out as he pulled out a small gift bag from behind his back."Hope you like it!"

I slowly took the bag out of Will's hands and opened it. Inside was a blue orchid."Oh my, Will. You remembered!"

"Of course I remembered, Son." Will proceeded in take the flower and pinning it on my lapel. "There you go! " Will leaned in and kissed me once again before offering me his hand. "Shall we, my love?"

I nodded taking Will's hand nervously into my own and walked out the door.
