Protecting, vice versa.
Chapter 10: Finally, the fight begins. (Part 1)
As the title says, FINALLY, THE FIGHT BEGINS! But only the first part. More will be explained after this chappie. The computer feels so foreign... so get ready for crappy writting. Bleagh. Before that...
Enma, along with the rest of the Shimon famiglia, and Byakuran, Bluebell, Naito and Basil stares as the guardians left one by one, leaving Yamamoto, Tsuna, Leoriko and Hicagen. Somehow they got pushed into the corner; instead of standing behind the crowd.
"Were we... ditched?" Julie finally blurted out, seizing the tension in the air.
Bluebell looked at Tsuna, who even forgot that they were present. "Muu~ apparently so." she blinked.
Hearing the petite blue haired girl's words, Byakuran whipped out a packet of marshmallows from who-knows-where. Stuffing his mouth full of marshmallows, he spoke to no one in particular; "I wonder if they'll remember us~"
Looking up, the albino realised no student even noticed them.
Basil simply sat down, cross-legged, in silence, Metal Edge resting on its master's lap. Naito was on the phone, talking to whoever was his girlfriend now. Shitt.P was watching Gokudera settle down at his battle location; intensely. Rauji was randomly chatting with Enma and Kaoru. As for Julie... getting slashed by Adelheid's metal fans again for attempting to slide his hand under Adelheid's shirt. Julie, I have to hand it to you for always trying to sexually embarrass the head of the Liquidation Committee.
Leoriko, noticing the small commotion at the side, quickly invited the mini legal gathering group by shouting; "The mini group over there; are you Vongola's allies as well?"
The commotion seizes as the gathered people looked up from whatever they were doing. Except for Byakuran; marshmallow eliminating was still more important.
Basil, being the first to react from the shout of Leoriko, quickly jumped up and replied, still using the talk in the older days of Japan.. "Yes! Thou is Sa- Kiyoshi-dono's allies!"
Gasp resounded from the above classrooms; all whispers having to do with the fact that they didn't even notice the group's pressence.
Leoriko chuckled from the use of the language. "If so, would you like to fight along with Ryu-kun here;" he pushed Tsuna closer to himself, using his slinged arm. "To fight us?" the orange-haired boss smiled. Before the group could refuse, he added; "After all, we made the sequence of the fight, there will be some advantage for us." he smiled brightly, evil intentions brimming off the edges of it.
Enma frowned. He didn't like that smile.
Byakuran looked up from his marshmallows. "Sureh, if youh sahy sho." he talked, slightly muffled with the chewy, white sweets packed in his mouth. (Remove the 'h's to understand the sentence.)
Thus, beside Tsuna (who was still guilty that he forgot the pack), they watched as the Vongola Guardians braced themselves to fight against the guardians of the 9th generation Gole Fenice famiglia.
...To notify you all on where the rest had disappeared to. Thanks to lovelylover000x for pointing it out! I seriously forgot about them...
Again, I'm sorry for holding up this chapter.
Also, a reply to a review; just in case the guest didn't see it:
Yeah(Guest): Vongola is the top mafia famiglia of Italy, and the top mafia famiglia in the world, whereas Gole Fenice is the top mafia famiglia of Europe, but is the 6th strongest mafia famiglia in the world. There's the difference. As for 2-5, I guess it would be Shimon, Gesso, Giglio Nero, and Callavone in order.
I shouldn't hold you guys up any longer, so FIGHT START~
Enjoy!
DISCLAIMER: EVERYTHING EXCEPT STORYLINE NOT OWNED BY ME. Amano Akira owns Katekyo Hitman Reborn.
WARNING: Over-emotional Kyoko, and some action you guys may not like. BUT THERE WILL BE PAYBACK! MUWAHAHA... Maybe it was too obvious in the notice?
Leoriko pointed a remote control at a big screen; directly in front of them, against the fence of the field. Putting aside the methods he used to smuggle that into the school, connect the wires to some plug and how he even found a electricity point to plug the plug in, he pressed the on button, and the screen flashed six different images.
"These six panels," he used a laser beam to point it out. "Will show the fights of your guardians."
Enma blinked dumbly. "How did you even install cameras on the field anyway?"
Leoriko laughed, and placed a finger against his lips. "It's a secret." he mumbled, winking at the redhead.
Tsuna felt chills from his Hyper Intuition when Leoriko winked.
Turning back to the screen, the 9th Gole Fenice Boss pressed a button on the remote control and placed the top of the black box near his mouth, as if it were a microphone.
He took a deep breath, and coughed a little. The group behind and beside the orange-haired boss (A/N: Leoriko has orange hair and olive-coloured eyes.) stared as he did this.
"Ah-ahem. Testing, 1, 2, 3?" he spoke, voice projecting from the grey speakers in the school; so it did serve as a microphone.
The guardians of the Gole Fenice and the Vongola famiglia turned to face Leoriko.
Leoriko, excited by the sudden attention and the fact that the remote control worked, he screamed into the mike; "IT WORKS!" Making everyone who could hear properly cover their ears in fear of becoming deaf.
"Ahaha, sorry." Leoriko scratched his head while giving off a laugh, causing the others to stare at him.
After a few hearty guffaws, he bought the remote control back up to his mouth. "The battle will begin at noon." his mouth twisted into an innocent smile, yet, malicious desires squirmed under it.
Tsuna looked at the clock. 11:58am.
"Oh yes, before I forget..." Leoriko spoke into the speakers again. The group all turned towards him.
"To win a battle, the opposing party may be rendered unconcious..." the orange-haired boss' voice trailed off slowly, his smile getting bigger by the second.
Byakuran continued munching on his marshmallows, undisturbed, though he could hear unspoken words clearly... or killed.
Naito heard it too, and his stomach flopped. All I can hope for is for Haya-chan, Yama-chan and the other guardians to win... for once, his thoughts were serious.
Basil, having killed people before (Assuming he has; he is a top-notch assassin for the CEDEF after all.), was not too disturbed by the words, but by the fact that it could be either of the Guardians.
Tsuna paled.
It was now 5 seconds before 12 noon.
The second hand ticked.

"Fight, begin." The 9th Gole Fenice boss used a voice swirling with darkness, which tuned in accordance with the school bell. And when those words left his mouth, gasps and exclamations surrounded the viewers upstairs.
Upstairs.
Kyoko couldn't take it anymore. «It» refered to the fact that 'Ryu' was Tsuna, and the fact that whenever she peeked at him, her heart would start accelerating, faster and faster...
She turned to the person she trusted most.
"Hana, did you know that..." she begun, only to stop because her best friend's attention was not directed towards her, but instead at the scene unfolding below, with a slight frown donned on her face. The auburn haired girl slumped in disappointment, but she told herself it was normal. After all, who wouldn't be interested in a fight; especially between mafiasos? Her mood continued spiralling down as she filled her mind with disillusioned thoughts, but two words stopped it all.
"I know."
Kyoko held up her head, to turn towards the source of the sentence.
The speaker's eyes were not facing her, but she could tell that the two words were to be told to her.
"I know. Sawada Tsunayoshi. And your feelings."
Kyoko felt her beliefs all being flushed away, and tears started forming slowly. She mistook her best friend...
Drip.
"Thank you."
Drip.
"No need for thanks. We're best friends, right?"
Drip.
"No, I really mean it. Thank you for understanding, Hana."
Hana sighed, and gave a slight smile. "If you're happy, I'm satisfied, Kyoko."
Oddly, no one except one person noticed this exchange between the two best friends.
Hiyako's eyes widened as she heard the smartest girl in the class say a name which she would never have suspected to be someone of that much importance.
Dame... Tsuna?
Downstairs. (I will be splitting the battles in accordance to the Gole Fenice guardian's type of flames. Also, all the battles are happening at the same time.)
Sun Guardian of Vongola (Ryohei) vs Storm Guardian of Gole Fenice (Flariek):
"YOSH! LET'S DO THIS TO THE EXTREME!" ...the white haired boxer was still as energetic as ever.
Flariek had to sweatdrop. (Ouch, Flariek is another random name I'm attached to.) But still, he equiped a pair of mechanic looking wristband onto both his wrists, and strapped a bigger one around his slender waist. After that, he whipped out his Hurlbat (A/N: A hurlbat or whirlbat is a ranged weapon consisting of an entirely metal throwing axe sharpened on every auxiliary end to a point or blade, greatly increasing the chance of some form of damage against its target. They are usually constructed from six millimeter thick steel which makes them impressively light and easy to throw.) and aimed it at the Sun Guardian of Vongola.
"I have an advantage. You will suffer defeat." Flariek snarled, carressing the blade of his axe. (Imagine if it was 'carressing the milky, white thighs of his woman'... -pfff-)
Ryohei raised his bandaged fists a little higher. "EXTREME!" he yelled, and somehow the two moved right after the yell, as if it was a signal for them to start fighting.
Flariek threw his hurlbat at Ryohei like a boomerang, but swiftly, the white-haired boxer dodged it whilst he continued running in a boxing position. Just as he was about to get up, wind was felt at the top of the extreme boxer's head. In front of his eyes, he saw a few strands of white hair floating down, as if in slow motion. He stopped, felt his head with one hand and stared at Flariek, who simply caught the Hurlbat with a smirk. But only for a moment; and then he continued running. He pulled back a fist, as it started shining with bright Sun Flames.
MAXIMUM CANNON! Ryohei's voice reverberated through his own mind, as he struck the Storm Guardian of the Gole Fenice at an impossible speed. However...
"It will not work on me."
The mechanic looking wristband which Flariek wore before they started their battle spurted out Storm Flames from unnoticible holes; Storm Flames as strong as Ryohei's.
"It will only feel like an ordinary punch." Flariek snickered. Without warning, the knee of the attacker had joined with Ryohei's chest.
With an 'ooff', Ryohei was sent tumbling backwards, body hitting against the ground thrice before his body stopped.
"Onii-san!" Kyoko's head stuck out of the window, eyebrows slanted upwards, and perspiration dripping down her chin.
Ryohei, hearing the distant, yet warm shout from his sister, quickly stood up again. "I'M FINE TO THE EXTREME!" the Sun Guardian of the Vongola bellowed, and ran towards Flariek again.
"EXTREME UPPERCUT!" Ryohei shouted, punching Flariek in the chin, causing the Storm Guardian to do a somersault in the air and land squatting on the ground. Flariek then did a kick to the side of the Sun Guardian, but it was blocked by a bandaged fist. Ryohei then pushed away the leg of Flariek, and attempted to do a spinning kick against the Storm Guardian. Dodging underneath, Flariek did a sidechop to Ryohei's neck with Storm Flames gushing out of the wristband, making the Sun Guardian tumble backwards again.
The boxer touched his neck. "My skin..." he mumbled, which is a very, very scary issue. Flariek smirked.
"ITS BURNING TO THE EXTREME!" again, the white-haired Sun Guardian screamed, now in slight agony.
Flariek smiled slightly. "Did you forget? The essence of Storm Flames are... degeneration. I can degenerate any part of the body faster, by using a flaming punch. Now..." He held up his hurlbat, and it started flashing dangerously with Storm Flames. His grin spread wider, and he threw it at the boxer. Ryohei's eyes widened; but in the nick of time, he dodged to the right, but his left arm getting a slightly deep cut in the process.
Ryohei frowned, and held the wound on his left arm in twisted pain. "WHY CAN YOU BLOCK MY EXTREME MAXIMUM CANNON?!" Ryohei roared, which just earned aproud grin from Flariek.
"Your element is Sun. My element is Storm" The dark-green haired Flariek smirked.
"WHAT ABOUT IT?! I DON'T GET IT TO THE EXTREME!" Ryohei now held his brain, imaginary smoke puffing out.
Flariek spun out a pair pf glasses. "The main point of Sun Flames is Activation. And, the main point of Storm Flames," his wristbands spurted with Storm Flames. "Is degeneration."
Rauji's brain clicked. I see! It's because Activation causes something to increase greatly, and Degeneration will also speed up the process, but in the complete opposite manner of Sun Flames! So when both are combined... a sped up power and a sped up power which swirls in the opposite manner... will lead to a neutral attack! He looked at the boxer. Now I know why Leoriko, that sneaky 9th Boss of the Gole Fenice, actually chose this order of battle! His fists clenched. Because it will give them an advantage! But, his head turned to look at the group staring at the screen of six panels. But still, if we land up in the worse case scenario which all of the Vongola Guardians are defeated, we still have with us Enma, us, the Guardians of the Shimon famiglia, that marshmallow eating guy with his partner, the 8th Boss of the Tomaso famiglia, a top notch assassin right from CEDEF, and Tsuna-kun... the oversized (no offence, Rauji) boy turned to the screen to watch the fight with the rest of the group waiting in worry on the field.
(Oh, right, Yamamoto and Hicagen are also on the field! Let's just say that there is an opaque barrier, somehow set up by the Gole Fenice, seperating the fight from the spectators.)
Tsuna's Hyper Intuition was making said brunette's stomach swirl.
Going back to the action, Ryohei was now suffering from knowledge overload. But the boxer sensed a kick coming, and dodged under the moving leg. His feet then swerved a little to the right; and suddenly the complicated footwork copied from Lussuria appeared again. Now; Flariek was surrounded by only one boxer, and that boxer was using plain footsteps to make it seem as though there were many more illusions of himself. Then, Ryohei's bandaged hands started shining with yellow flames.
"MAXIMUM..." he started, pulling back a fist for a punch. But Flariek simply sniggered, and Storm Flames burst out from his wrists again. His elbow rotated so that it was 90 degrees. "Raging..." the Storm Guardian announced the first word of his attack, leading to Ryohei stopping his attack for a moment in slight shock; but the boxer soon recovered, and his eyes burned with determination again.
"INGRAM!"
"CRUNCH!"
At the same time, all the images of Ryohei punched, and Flariek struck the ground with his lower arm; resulting in, not only, dodging the Sun Guardian's attacks, but also smashing up the ground around him and the boxer at the same time.
Killing two birds with one stone. That's just the phrase to use in this situation.
As the ground smashed, the two people on the battlefield alone standing on individual rocks, the fight continued. With Ryohei hopping to another rock, said boxer yelled while putting his fist in a weird manner; "EXTREME CORKSCREW PUNCH!" The punch came distorted, yet air seemingly gathered around it. But to this, Flariek just smirked. Again, up came his wrist bursting with more pure and refined Storm Flames; and before the boxer himself could stop or the spectators could yell of horror, the punch had already landed in the storm of Storm Flames.
"ONII-SAN!" came Kyoko's petrified scream; and it could be heard clearly throughout the school; earning gasps of shock that the school's idol could actually produce such a loud shout. But of course it was loud. It was her own brother, about to face near pure flames of degeneration; one that could burn the cells of the body at an exceedingly and alarming high rate.
"GYAHHHHH!" Ryohei screamed in dread, in anguish, in pain. It was his own hand burning; first the skin melted, the seething of the burn louder then charcoal, and next was the flesh; blood oozed out, only to vanquish and disintergrate a moment later, and the meat; it slowly became brown, and eventually turned black, before rotting away in silence, and last. The bone. The bone cracked. And slowly, melted into a creamy white liquid; and the smell was that of burning meat. It slowly disintegrated; only leaving a handless arm and a charred wrist.
Ryohei stop screaming as the pain faded. Now he was only half-concious from the overwhelming pain, and his vision swirled in circles; and the next thing he was going to see was not going to improve his state of mind. A hand burnt; gone; disintergrated. The fist that had helped him defeat many enemies. The fist that had been with him from birth; was now gone.
"Ga...GAHHHHHHHHH!" the boxer screamed again; not because of agony, but shock. Pure shock and terror.
That image was enough to steal the rest of his conciousness.
He fainted.
Ryohei... had lost.
Mist Guardians of Vongola (Chrome and Mukuro) vs Rain Guardian of Gole Fenice (Reina):
"Hmm~ I wonder why the Vongola has two Mist Guardians?" Reina mocked the two napos.
Chrome gripped her trident in nervousness. "I- I'm the co-Mist Guardian, and Mukuro-sama i-is the Mist Guardian." she stammered, earning a giggle from the Rain Guardian of the Gole Fenice.
Mukuro, noticing the exchange, laughed as well.
The whole group laughed in synchronization.
Tsuna sweatdropped. That's the happiest group among all. What the heck are they doing there?
Mukuro was the first to stop laughing. He smirked with a rape face; "Kufufu... It's time to get serious now." He spun his trident, and slammed the end of it into the ground. "Chrome!" he yelled, and as if on cue, she also spun her trident, but instead placed the sharp part of her trident within the gaps of the sharp parts of Mukuro's trident. (Like, inserting one trident into another. Pfff. My dirty mind.) And just like before; lava spurted out of the grounds, with lotuses.
Reina stared at the illusion. I'm trying to percieve that it's not real, but... why can't I? she then whipped out a mechanical looking glove, and strapped it onto her hand. As if on cue, Rain Flames spurted out from micro-holes, and she placed her hand inside a lava geyser.
"What the-" Mukuro started in shock; this was his and Chrome's power combined! Even the cream of the crops would not be able to see through it!
Reborn lowered his fedora from afar. My own instincts are telling me this is one battle that will strengthen them all... but will end unfavourably at first. He looked on as the lava geysers spurted into the air.
"KYAHHH!" Screams came from above; the ordinary civilians had percieved that it was real.
Tsuna lowered his hood. "Enma, can you feel it?" he mumbled to the redhead beside him.
"...Yeah. It's a very, very strong illusion." the Shimon Boss answered the brunette.
Back to the battle; Reina inserted her hand of Rain Flames inside one lava geyser, with the two napos getting shocked for a moment about her actions. But suddenly, the same lava geyser she had inserted her hand inside tweaked a little.
"What...?" Mukuro and Chrome gasped.
Reina smirked. "I can see through it now." her bangs shadowed her eyes, while her lips curled up into a sneaky smile. She removed her hand; only for it to be unharmed. Right after she said that, the illusions disappeared.
Chrome gasped, suprised that for once, someone had seen through that powerful illusion.
"Wha...?!"
So.. I'm going to leave you with this, or you're all going to smack me for leaving Protecting, Vice Versa for too long. Actually, I wanted to finish at least half of the fights, but then the chapter would drag on for too long. So, instead of combining it all, I'm going to split this story up into 4 parts. DO NOT SMACK ME.

Well, hope you enjoyed this chapter!
Most likely, the next update will be next week. Or a little later, because I'm planning to make an X'mas one-shot that I came up with while sleeping. It's near utter-idiocity.
For now, farewell~
RawwrMage (18/12/2013) - I decided to put this just in case I decide to rewrite this story. Lol.
