Hello everyone! Thankfully I wasn't gone too long this time. Thanks for all the reviews! They've been so sweet!

Shoutout to EileenAbbey for the 300th review! I still need some more favorites, so there's a chance there.

Ok, so it's not ending here. I'm doing a wedding next, possibly a honeymoon, definitely an epilogue with their children, and maybe a sequel. If you want one.

Just because I thought the best friend deserved a chapter...

Aspen's POV:

She's getting married. America Singer, the love of my life, is getting married. Not only is she getting married, she's getting married to a Prince! One day, my America will be Queen!

That's hard to imagine.

I remember the first time I laid eyes on her. I was helping Kota, her terrible excuse of a brother, with some project of his. And that's when I saw America. The first thing I noticed about her, the first thing everyone notices, was her hair. That fiery red hair that matches her temper. I didn't exactly fall in love at first sight, but I could tell she was something special and that intrigued me.

Now she's gone.

I'm still in shock, I think. Shocked that I could let her go, let her slip right through my fingertips.

Shocked that she's not mine anymore.

Everyone in the castle, from maid to soldier, is talking about the engagement. They're all excited that America will be our Queen. I suppose I would be too, if I didn't know how dangerous a job it is. Too dangerous for my America.

I suppose she will be a good Queen, kind, smart, funny, caring, heroic. The list goes on and on. It's just...she'll be married to Maxon. Can he make her as happy as I could've? Will they be best friends also?

A sob almost escapes my throat. We would've been so perfect together, so...us. And now she's gone. Along with a part of me that can never be filled again. I feel like I'm in pieces, and I can't glue myself back together.

"Aspen? I mean...Officer Leger?" I turn to see Lucy tentatively walking up to me. I turn on the smile I have just for her, a smile full of kindness and genuine care. She needs that in her life.

"Call me Aspen." I say. "How are you Lucy?" She smiles widely, revealing perfect white teeth. "I'm doing much better, now that Lady America is engaged. Are you happy about the engagement?" she asks.

Not really.

I smile anyway, just for her. "Of course. They'll be perfect together." I say, untruthfully in my opinion.

She smiles again. I actually start to stare at her, her perfect lips, eyes, and nose. Lucy is more than just a pretty face though. She's a mystery. One that I would like to solve.

What am I thinking? I love America, not Lucy.

"But America left you," a voice inside my head informs me. And it's true.

Maybe I can make a new life, one involving a certain maid with the perfect smile.

As I stand there talking to her, I believe it.

If y'all haven't read the Guard, you should really read it. It's good! There's a whole new side to Aspen. I just thought he needed a good ending too, you know?

Love,

Sara
