Olivia fell back onto the couch and sighed. She had no clue how exhausting it could be simply turning her paperwork to return to work in and stopping by Langen's office to pick up her first set of files. As much as she hated to admit it, she could see why Dr. Mathews wanted to ease her back into a forty hour work week.
"Hey," Alex almost whispered as she walked back into the room and tossed some pillows on the floor, "Take your shirt off and stretch out on the floor."
"Mmm, someone's in a mood."
"No," Alex said as she kissed the top of Olivia's head, "Someone is going to massage your shoulders and help you relax. Now, take your shirt off and stretch out on the ground."
"I remember seeing a onesie one time that said all momma wanted was a back rub," Olivia said as she removed her shirt and stretched out on the floor like Alex wanted, "Are you sure that isn't what this is?"
"Honestly, there isn't a moment during the day that I don't want you," Alex answered as she straddled Olivia's back, "That thought scares me and excites me at the same time, but this is one time that I'm not trying to get in your pants I just want to help you relax. As for the onesie comment, Olivia Benson, you are beyond amazing in bed, but you do lack the inability to get me pregnant."
"Not from the lack of trying, that's for sure," Olivia said laughing.
"You are incorrigible," Alex stated swatting the back of Olivia's head.
"Yeah, but you love me."
"I do," Alex answered leaning down and kissing the back of Olivia's neck, "And on that note, I want you to listen to Dr. Mathews on returning to work. Don't overdo it, please."
"How can I overdo it? At the rate he has me on, it's going to be four months before I'm fully back on my feet. That's four more months of you taking care of me."
"By pushing yourself too hard too fast, Olivia, and in case you haven't noticed, I enjoy taking care of you no matter how it is."
"I've always been on my own, just me."
"I know you have and I can only begin to imagine how difficult this is for you as someone who has been entirely self-sufficient since you were a young child. Honey, do you want to take your time and do as he says and let it only be four months or push yourself beyond your limits and have it be another six months or longer."
"Take my time."
"Good," Alex exhaled, "I need to talk to you about something."
"What is it?" Olivia asked looking over her shoulder at Alex, "Is everything okay?"
"Everything is fine, but you need to know that I disclosed our relationship to Donnelly."
"She had to know, you're our ADA."
"As of today at five, I was your ADA. I'm not anymore."
"Wait," Olivia said raising up some and flipping over once Alex had sat down next to her, "She's punishing you because you're with me?"
"No," Alex said smiling, "The only way to continue this relationship without it jeopardizing any of our future cases was for me to disclose and transfer, which I did. Since we didn't began a relationship till after you were injured and out of work, all of the cases we worked on beforehand are safe. I have spent the last two weeks bringing your new ADA, Casey Novak, up to speed."
"Alex, I'm sorry, I didn't think about the consequences when I started this relationship," Olivia mumbled hanging her head. Why didn't she think ahead before she acted on her feelings? Her mother had always told her that she would destroy everyone's life that she touched and for once she had told her the truth.
"I'm not," Alex said raising Olivia's head so she could look into her eyes, "I have a wonderful woman who is beyond amazing and I thank god for you every day. I knew from the first moment I started having feelings for you that one of us would have to leave if we ever pursued this and I knew that that person would be me. I don't feel bad or regret transferring especially since it means I get to come home to you every day of my life."
"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Olivia asked wondering why Alex would keep something like this from her.
"There was no need to add extra stress to you," Alex answered smiling at the brunette that had captured her heart, "Worse case scenario, if the doctor didn't release you or forced you to go out on permanent disability, SVU would have had two ADA's which truthfully that is something you need. Best case scenario was the doctor released you and my transfer would go through."
"Donnelly allowed that?"
"Honestly, she didn't want me to leave and had tried every way possible to keep me there. She had even suggested that I strictly prosecute Fin and Munch's cases, but I pointed out more times than not, all of you work a case together which would cause a conflict. When Dr. Mathews released you today, I called Donnelly and told her you were released to partial duty and would be returning on Monday. She fixed my transfer to where it was effect at five this afternoon."
"What unit will you be with now?"
"A joint task force with the US Marshall's on Human Trafficking. I will be prosecuting on the state level and there will be a few cases where I will assist on the federal level. The unit actually doesn't go into effect until the first of the month so I will be floating around and attending meetings and training till then.
"Alex, are you sure about this?" Olivia asked needing to know without a doubt that Alex was happy with the decision.
"The only thing that I am more confident and sure of then this is our love for each other," Alex answered leaning forward and gently kissed Olivia on the lips, "Now, roll back over and let me finish working the knots out of your back."
Olivia laughed as she rolled back over and rested her head on her hands. After almost a year, it seemed as if her life was finally back on track. She had the unconditional love of a woman she thought she never had a chance at and was finally being allowed to return to work. Granted, it was going to be a slow process and at least another five months before she could return to living on her own and no longer have to depend on Alex to support her. Then, as the thought hit her that she could return to her old apartment, she realized she wanted nothing more than to stay where she was forever.
