Hi everybody? So...who's read The One?! I'm getting it tonight, so there are no spoilers in the long awaited wedding chapter...
It's really been too long. I'm glad to be back on Fanfiction. Enjoy!
America's POV:
Is this real?
That's all I can think. I repeat it over and over in my mind. I know a bride is supposed to be all smiles and happiness, but I'm not even sure if I'm a bride.
"You look perfect America." my sister says in awe. I smile, dazed. "Pinch me, I'm dreaming."
She does.
"Ow! I was kidding, May!" I exclaim. She giggles, and I laugh along with her. We are both giddy today. At least I know that this is real.
I am marrying the Prince of Illéa.
I will soon be Princess of Illéa, and one day Queen.
My name will no longer be America Singer, it will be America Shreave. And I will be with the man I love.
Can I ask for anything more?
My mom bustles into the room, gently carrying an object wrapped in tissue paper. "The final touch! Amberly wore this during her wedding, and the Queen before her. You'll pass this along to your daughter-in-law, and so on. My daughter, a Queen." she tears up.
"Let's not get ahead of ourselves." I say jokingly. She chuckles. "Well. You have a big day ahead of you." She takes a moment to look at me thoroughly. "And you're ready! Oh, America. So beautiful."
I turn to see myself in the mirror. An elegant wedding gown made of creamy chiffon drapes across my body. It has a a flowing, full skirt with lace overlay. The bodice also has a lace overlay in the design of flowers, and lacy long sleeves. The waist is layered, giving a slightly ruffled effect. With my hair twisted up in a bun, and the tiara just placed on my head by my mom, I really do feel like a princess. (I posted a picture of the dress on my Instagram account, lotr_ironfey. I'll also have a link at the bottom of the page)
That's when we here the music. "Well, are you ready?" my sister Kenna asks. She looks beautiful in a silk dress of baby blue, the maid of honor. "I am!" May exclaims, also looking pretty in a dress of lilac silk. She will be my only flower girl. My bridesmaids in light green dresses are Lucy, Anne, and Mary. At first, the idea of maids being in the Prince's wedding was vetoed against, but I quickly informed them it was my wedding too.
"Here I go!" May exclaims, and exits the room carrying her basket of flowers. We are in a room that leads right into the garden, where my wedding will be. It only seems right we got married in the first place we met. Pretty soon it's time for the bridesmaids to leave, on the arm of Maxon's friends. They smile with excitement, and Anne winks at me. "We know you will be the best princess ever, Lady America." Mary says, and we all hug.
My mother wishes me luck, and with tears in her eyes exits the room. That just leaves my father and I. "Ready, Daddy?" I ask. He nods, also with tears glistening in his eyes. I smile, and place my arm on his. "I can't believe my little girl is getting married." he says. Yeah, well, I can't believe it either.
A guard opens the door. I step outside into the sunny afternoon. The sight of roses, azaleas, tulips, all kinds of flowers greet me. I inhale deeply to calm my shaky breath. Just enjoy yourself, America. The audience is looking at me, looking at and wondering about their future Queen. I spot Celeste in the crowd. Apparently she's a new girl, with a nice boyfriend.I'm happy for her. Kriss isn't to be seen, I guess watching the wedding of your loved one is hard. It would be for me. Princess Nicoletta smiles and waves. She helped this wedding happen, and I am very grateful.
That's when I see him. Maxon. My Prince, staring at me in awe. He's all I see, and I'm all he sees. We are meant for each other. After what seems like an eternity, my father hands me off to him. We walk up to the Priest and stand together. I don't hear a word he says. I also don't know when we say "I do", but apparently we say it because Maxon is leaning in to kiss me.
This kiss is like none others. This time we have no worries, no doubts. Maxon is mine, and I am his. That's the way it will always be.
The Priest announces, "Illéa, your new Princess, America Shreave!" I turn and smile into the applauding crowd, with Maxon holding my hand. I see the King scowling, and the Queen glowing, happy to finally have a daughter. I see Aspen, looking somber yet peaceful. Peaceful with my decision, and his. Lucy walks over and beams up at him. He smiles, and holds her hand. Good. They'll be good for each other.
There is an after party, with dancing and music and everything I could have hoped for. I dance with Maxon, my father, even the King. But the funny thing is, I don't remember much of it. It's all a blur.
I do remember Maxon whispering in my ear, and sneaking off with me to the Princess suite. It's perfect.
I also remember giving ourselves to each other, body and soul. It was perfect, everything and more I imagined.
But the thing I remember most is Maxon whispering in my ear that night, three words that I know he means.
I love you.
