~Author's Note~

Here we are… another chapter to be rewritten. I'm excited to change up the beginning, when I reread the beginning of my original story I found that I didn't agree with it anymore so here we are. I hope you enjoy!

~Disclaimer~

I do not own any characters used in this fanfic save for Lily (And uh… one or two other characters that will be revealed in later chapters…). Any other character used in this fanfic will be borrowed from the book 'Peter Pan', possibly the series 'Peter and the Starcatchers', the Disney Movie Peter Pan, along with various other Peter Pan plays, movies, and shows like Foxs' Peter Pan and the Neverland Pirates. I apologize that I cannot give you the names of everyone these characters are credited to... there are simply too many.

On with the Story!

~Chapter One: A Lily in the Gardens~

"Did you find anything?"

"No."

"I can't believe you lost our Lily, Tootles!"

"Me?! It's not my fault! Slightly was leading the way! He got us lost!"

"I wasn't leading! I was following Nibs!"

"I was helping Curly after he fell."

"The twins tripped me!"

"Did not!"

"Did too!"

"Quiet!"

"Shut up, Tootles!"

"No really! Listen! I think one of those stars moved!"

The boys quieted down and looked to the sky.

"There! That one! It moved!" Tootles cried gleefully.

"It could be a fairy!"

"A fairy could help us!"

"A fairy could go to Neverland! To find Peter!"

"It's going that way! Hurry!"

"Let's go!"

"But… what about our Lily?"

"We'll send the fairy for Peter… then we'll find our Lily.."

They scurried after the 'star' and found themselves in

"The Gardens!" Tootles cried.

"We'll surely be able to find a fairy now!" Curly added.

"And then we can get a message to-" Slightly began.

"Peter!" Nibs interrupted.

"Yeah that's what I was going to say."

"No! Peter! It's PETER!"

Peter plopped to the ground with a grunt.

"You didn't find anything?"

Tinkerbell landed on his knee.

"Nothing yet… there aren't many fairies in the gardens at night. Even if there were, they wouldn't stray into the city. They won't be much help."

Peter growled. "We'll never find them this way! We've searched for hours!"

Tinkerbell sighed. "We've searched for one hour."

"No way! It will be morning soon!"

"You have no sense of time Peter!"

"What use is a sense of time in Neverland?"

"It's VERY useful!" Tinkerbell stomped her foot.

"Alright, alright! We don't have time for this! We have to find the Lost Boys!"

"You're right." Tinkerbell sighed and took off into the air as Peter stood up.

"Of course, I'm always right...Let's go Tink!"

"PETER!" Voices chorused behind him.

"It is Peter! I knew he'd come for us!" Tootles cried.

"He's here to save us!" The twins cheered.

Peter let out a crow as he was surrounded by his boys. "Oh the cleverness of me!" he cheered.

The boys greeted Tinkerbell eagerly as she gave each of them playful tugs and tickles, showering them in pixie dust as she did so.

"I've come to take you back to Neverland! That is…" Peter smirked. "Unless you'd like to stay here and grow up."

The Lost Boys burst into panicked pleas to take them with him.

"We hate it here!"

"We ran away from the orphanage!

"It was awful!"

"We live on the streets!"

"We were tricked!"

"Abandoned!"

"And now we've lost our Lily!"

"A lily? What's so important about a lily? There are loads of them in Neverland!"

"Everything!" The twins chorused.

"Our Lily isn't just a flower… our Lily's a special flower."

"Well, where did you find this lily? We'll bring another one back to Neverland if you like."

"We don't want another Lily!" Curly cried.

"We want our Lily." Nibs nodded.

Peter sighed. "Fine! We'll look for your Lily… but once the sun starts to come up we're going back to Neverland, with or without it!"

The boys nodded reluctantly… but their eagerness to return home was clear.

"What should we do now, Peter?" Tootles asked.

"We fly of course!" Peter crowed as he took off into the air. The Lost Boys weren't far behind.

"I've missed flying!" Nibs cheered as they soared over the gardens.

"Meeeeee tooooooooo!" Slightly yelled as he soared in circles.

Peter laughed and wrestled him in the air. The rest of the boys, except for Nibs, soon joined them.

Nibs' attention was elsewhere… his eyes following a shadowy figure running across the open grass before leaping over a bush… There were a few more, larger, figures chasing after the first.

"Pssst! Look down there!" Nibs called.

The other boys stopped playing.

"Looks like someone's being chased."

"Looks like fun." Peter grinned. He floated down a bit to get a closer look. "It's a girl!" he called. "She's being chased by Nears!"

"Can we take a closer look Peter?" Curly asked.

"Sure! It'll be an adventure!" They flew in closer, close enough to be spotted if the 'Nears' had turned around, but their attention was still on the girl. The girl wore a worn jacket that looked to be too big for her, the hood hid half of her face as she looked back at her pursuers. A ripped skirt peeked out from beneath the hem of the coat flowing around her knees and bobbing up whenever her legs surged forward. Ripped stockings covered otherwise bare feet, one of her knees appeared to be bleeding. The girl was starting to slow down… finally she stopped and turned, face still covered.

The boys landed silently behind the nears, going unnoticed by them and the girl.

Two of the nears chuckled and approached the girl. "Looks like we've finally caught up to you, kitten." One of them sneered.

The girl pulled back her hood and glared at him. "Don't call me kitten." She growled.

Peter and the Lost Boys gasped.

Peter looked her up and down. She was very pretty. Even prettier than Wendy, whom, before now, had been the prettiest girl Peter had ever seen. This girl wasn't very tall, definitely shorter than he… Her hair, black as night, fell to her shoulders in dark waves. Her green eyes glinted in the moonlight, they looked as if they were glowing. She was very pale, almost white, and it made her skin glow in the moonlight. She looked like a creature from Neverland, though one he'd yet to see. If he didn't know better, he'd say she looked like a very short Near… but she had a childish look and feel to her that all Nears have already left behind. Then again… the girl was very… developed? Was that the word? John… or was it Michael? Well, the one with the hat… he'd mentioned how… developed, yes, he was sure that was the word now. He had mentioned how developed the mermaids were. When Peter had asked, the blushing boy had explained that he was talking about the mermaids chests… and their… curves. This girl definitely wasn't as developed as the mermaids, but she was more developed than Wendy. Wendy, before she had betrayed them, had been the girl he and the lost boys had spent the most time with. So, naturally, she was the only girl without a tail that he could compare this girl to. He had to say… this girl in front of them was more attractive than Wendy.

"LILY!" The Lost Boys screamed behind him.

'Lily? What lily?'

The Nears turned around at their scream. "What-" The one closest to the girl, the one who'd called her kitten, fell before he could finish his sentence. The girl had punched him in the jaw and thrust her knee into his gut. He fell to the ground with a groan as the other Nears turned back to her and charged at her. Peter and the Lost Boys, unwilling to be left out of the fun, rushed to join the fight and help the girl. It wasn't long before the Nears were all limping off into the darkness, shouting back curses as they ran away. Peter, the Lost Boys, and the girl took off in the opposite direction, laughing and celebrating their victory.

"That was fun, but we should start-" Peter stopped, beholding the sight before him.

The Lost Boys had surrounded the girl and hugged her, and she returned the hugs eagerly.

"Boys! I was worried you'd gotten lost… or left without saying goodbye."

"We wouldn't leave you!" Nibs claimed.

"Where'd you get this jacket?" Tootles asked pulling at the sleeve.

"My dress was ruined… I nicked it from one of them." She jerked her thumb back the way the Nears ran.

The girl looked to Peter and smiled. "And who's this?" she asked.

Peter smiled and bowed. "Peter Pan."

She gasped. "You're the Peter Pan?"

Peter puffed out his chest. "I am." He held out his hand. "Nice to meet you… uh…"

"Lily," She smiled, taking his hand. "My name is Lily."

"Oh!" he looked to the Lost Boys. "Lily? This is your Lily? I thought you meant a flower!"

"Well she is a flower." Curly grinned.

"She's not a flower,"

"Of course she is! She's a Lily!"

"She's a girl!"

"Lily!"

"GIRL!"

"LILY!"

"I'm a girl and a Lily… I am a girl named Lily! Now stop arguing about it." Lily laughed.

"Hmph," Curly crossed his arms. "I still say you're a flower." The other Lost Boys nodded in agreement.

"Well, you're welcome to say whatever you'd like about me." Lily ruffled his hair. "I don't mind."

"Why were those Nears chasing you?" Peter asked.

"Nears? What are Nears?" Lily's head tilted to the side.

"Nears," Like Lily, Peter jerked his thumb back the way the Nears ran. "They're near manhood now… we call them Nears."

"Oh! Well…." She looked back at the direction the had run. "They, um… I'd rather not say… I'll just say that there's a reason girls don't last long on the streets… They get taken by men and… erm, Nears."

Peter was even more curious, but he kept his questions to himself.

"I suppose I'll have to find new clothes… It would be easier if I dressed like a boy." Lily murmured. She was talking to herself, but Peter heard her. "I'll have to cut my hair short." She continued.

Peter found himself thinking that cutting her hair would be a shame. He decided to change the subject, turning to the Lost Boys. "Now that you've found your Lily and she's alright… we better head home to Neverland."

The Lost Boys cheered… but Lily's face fell.

"Oh… you're leaving? So soon?" She pulled the Lost Boys close. "Come here."

She hugged each of them and said her goodbyes while Peter watched on with amusement.

Did she really think they'd leave her here? Didn't she know that the Lost Boys adored her? Peter himself was already growing fond of her. He grinned.

"Lily," her green eyes met his blue ones. "How good are you at telling stories?"
