On with the Story!

~Chapter Two: Neverland~

The Lost Boys gasped in excitement, but one look from Peter had them quieting down.

"Stories?" Lily bit her lip. "I suppose I know quite a few… why?"

Instead of answering, Peter circled around so that he was behind her and changed the subject. "What're you gonna do now?"

"I… I don't know… suppose I'll find some boys clothes and cut my hair… then… I don't know. Does anyone really have a plan when they live on the streets?"

Peter leaned over her right shoulder.

"All alone?" He asked softly into her ear.

"I suppose I will be."

"Sounds lonely."

"I suppose I will be." Lily said again.

"Or…" Peter moved to her other ear. "You could come with me… to Neverland." He whispered.

"Neverland?"

"Yep… come with me to Neverland, Lily…. And I promise that you'll never be lonely."

She turned around so that they were facing each other again.

"Really?"

He looked into her hopeful eyes and held out his hand. "Lily… How would you like to be a mother?"

She stared at his offered hand. "A mother… Who's mother?"

"Ours!" Nibs yelled excitedly, pulling her attention away from Peter.

"Please be our mother Lily!" The twins pleaded.

"I'm not sure how good of a mother I'd be," Lily bit her lip.

"You'd be a great mother!" Slightly encouraged.

"You're great at stories!" Tootles added.

"You helped us at the orphanage!" Curly pointed out.

"And you've been looking out for us on the streets!" Nibs said eagerly. "You kept us together!"

"Please say you'll be our mother!" Tootles pleaded.

Lily smiled nervously. "Sounds like I'm already your mother."

The Lost Boys cheered and Peter smiled.

He suddenly found himself noticing that there were little gold flecks in Lily's green eyes, they caught in the moonlight.

"So?" he beckoned.

"So," She placed her hand in his awaiting one. "Second star to the right and straight on till morning, is that right?" She asked, looking towards the stars.

"That's right," he said, squeezing her hand. "But first, we'll teach you to fly."

"You can fly?"

"Of course! How else would we get to Neverland?" To prove his point he slowly lifted into the air and hovered there, still holding her hand.

Lily gasped. "And I can fly too?"

"You can, with a little faith… trust… and… Hey Tink! Tink, where'd you go? Come here!"

"No!"

"Now, Tink!"

"No Peter! I won't help you bring another Wendy to Neverland!"

Lily looked around. "Do you hear a voice? I can't quite understand it. I could have sworn it I heard 'Neverland'."

Peter landed. "You mean you can understand Tink?" He asked. "Tink! Get out here! I decide who comes to Neverland and I say she's coming!"

Tinkerbell flew from her hiding spot and hovered in front of Peter's face.

"You never listen to me Peter!" She stomped her foot in the air letting a shower of shimmering dust fall. "I didn't want Wendy to come to Neverland either! Did you listen to me? NO! You brought her anyways and what happened?! She took away the Lost Boys and abandoned them! If you had just listened to me then we wouldn't even be here!"

"Tink!" Peter growled, hurt.

"How beautiful!" Lily exclaimed, catching their attention. "A fairy! Tinkerbell, is that your name? It's very pretty."

Tinkerbell crossed her arms. "Don't think you're going to get my help with flattery!" She stuck her tongue out at Lily and turned away.

"Spunky," She turned to Peter. "I like her."

Peter grabbed a hold of Tinkerbell.

"Hey!"

"Hold still Lily." He said as he raised his fist to shake Tinkerbell above her.

"Wait Peter!"

He stopped.

"If Tinkerbelle doesn't want to help, I don't want to force her."

Peter paused, contemplating her words, before shrugging and letting Tink go. "Then… I guess I'll just carry you there!" Again, he held his hand out, and again, Lily placed her hand in his. He pulled her close and wrapped his free arm around her waist. "Ready?"

Lily nodded.

Peter swept her legs up and Lily gasped excitedly as they floated into the air. "Then here we go!"

The Lost Boys cheered as they followed them into the air.

Tinkerbell sighed and took her place next to Peter. She didn't exactly hate this girl, like she had Wendy, but that didn't mean she could be trusted. She looked to the girl and was startled to find that Lily was already looking at her.

Lily gave her a smile. "I would like to be friends, Tinkerbell. I understand if you do not trust me, we only just met… but I hope to gain your trust. Us girls gotta stick together, yeah?"

Tinkerbell did not reply… maybe this girl wasn't so bad… but only time would tell.

Lily turned away from the fairy, smile still on her face. She watched as the garden grew smaller and smaller and a feeling of relief swept over her.

'I promise that you'll never be lonely.'

That's what Peter had said, the words echoed in her head.

She had been lonely for an awfully long time, at the orphanage.

Then the Lost Boys came, and she hadn't felt so lonely anymore.

She liked telling them stories.

And they liked telling her stories.

Miraculous stories… about a boy named Peter Pan.

The boys had only been at the orphanage for a month before they told her they planned to run away.

She couldn't let them fend for themselves on the streets, so she'd decided to go with them.

She hadn't believed in Peter Pan at first.

But when she saw him… messy dirty blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes, a toothy grin showing great confidence, and covered in vines, rags, and leaves… she knew all of the stories were true.

And she knew that Peter Pan had come to take his Lost Boys home to Neverland.

She'd thought she'd be left alone again…

Then Peter offered her his hand…

She looked up at Peter, who had a look of such childish glee on his face, Lily was almost convinced he'd never had a sad day in his life. He caught her staring, and grinned down at her. She blushed and looked away, only to have Tootles float into her sight.

Tootles, the smallest and presumably youngest of the Lost Boys, was a shy little boy who seemed to run into some bad luck now and again. She'd witnessed it personally the day they met. He'd been targeted by some of the older boys at the orphanage. It had been cleaning day and all the older children have the task of cleaning the bathroom floors and toilets. They'd dumped a bucket of dirty water on him as he walked in the courtyard. With the chilly air outside, his tears and sniffles had become coughs and wheezes within the night. Lily had been the only one to help him inside and warm him up… of course she gave those boys a few kicks for their mean tricks.

Next her eyes landed on Slightly. He was such a funny and clever boy. He was the tallest of the lost boys, and Lily had originally Slightly was the leader of the small group of boys who'd shown up at the orphanage's doorstep. That was, of course, until she befriended them and learned of their beloved Peter Pan. Slightly seemed to have been with Peter the longest from what she'd been told. He was bright, and very talented with music. The dear boy had taken a stick and whittled a flute to play for them whenever asked. His music was always joyful, full of happiness that never failed to bring out other's laughter.

Nibs was they next boy to fall, or rather fly, into her sight. Such a brave boy. He faced all troubles head on and never gave up. Lily herself had seen him stand up to those boys who had picked on Tootles. She had to drag him away from the fight before the adults showed up in the courtyard. He had a good heart, like all of the Lost Boys, and he was strong… perhaps the strongest of the Lost Boys. He always enjoyed her stories about heroes and those who fought for what was right the most. He'd even act out fight scenes, which of course all the Lost Boys enjoyed.

Lily giggled when Curly tumbled through the air into view. Such a timid boy had such a loveable character. He wasn't as clever as the other boys, but he was curious, and that made up for it… though it often got him in trouble. Said curiosity had gotten him lost once on a trip to a garden near the orphanage. He'd wandered off while exploring, said he was looking for fairies, and had found himself falling and twisting his ankle. She and the other boys had spent hours looking for him before they found him shivering on the ground. Such a clumsy boy certainly needed someone to look after him.

She looked to the final two of the Lost Boys, the twins. They were a mischievous pair, but very affectionate. They loved to play games. They were as adventurous as any of the Lost Boys, but Lily had a feeling they were more sensitive than the other boys. They seemed to be the most attached to Lily. They didn't have names; The adults at the orphanage hadn't bothered to give them ones either. Lily had asked them if they'd wanted names, they didn't. They liked to play tricks on the older boys at the orphanage.

These were her Lost Boys. And now… she was their mother. She looked to Peter again. She wondered if she was to be his mother as well. Again, he looked down and caught her staring. He smiled. "Wanna play a game?"

"What kind of game?"

"Do you trust me?"

Lily nodded.

"Good… NIBS! CATCH!"

Lily squealed as Peter launched her at Nibs. He caught her, but for a moment she was afraid he couldn't hold her weight. He held strong though and gave her a silly grin. "Slightly!"

Again, Lily found herself flying through the air, this time Slightly caught her, but before she could catch her breath she was screaming delightedly as he tossed her back to Peter. Peter spun the both of them around in circles as he caught her, laughing as he tossed her into the air again. The twins, Curly, and Tootles all grabbed a hold of her and as a group they tossed her back to Slightly. The game went on for a while until finally, when Peter caught her, he grinned down at her. "You're going to love this part!" He pulled her onto his back. She glanced back to see the Lost Boys had fallen into formation behind them. They passed a shimmering barrier and Lily gasped. There were stars everywhere and beautiful planets surrounded them.

"It's beautiful!" she exclaimed.

"Now, whatever you do… don't let go!"

Lily tightened her grip as Peter sped up. Stars and Planets flashed by in streams of light. Then they were surrounded by light. She could hear the Lost Boys whooping and shouting behind them and Peter crowed as the light grew to a point of nearly blinding. Lily closed her eyes against the brightness. When the white shining through her eyelids disappeared she opened them again to find them surrounded by the night sky. Peter pulled one of her hands from her hold around him and pulled it towards the stars below them. Lily was delightfully surprised when her hand touched water and the stars below them began to ripple. She leaned over his shoulder to touch the water again.

"Welcome to Neverland."

The sun was beginning to rise as they got closer. Peter flew higher so she could get a better look. Soon enough, to Lily's bewilderment, the sun had risen and cast it's light on Neverland. Neverland was beautiful! There were three islands before them, two large ones and one small. The smaller island looked like an ancient fortress made of stone, built into a cliff jutting out of the sea. The opening of the fortress looked like the face of a skull.

Peter landed on a cloud and, after some assurance that she would not fall through it, Lily alighted his back. She marveled soft and fluffy pink cloud beneath her feet before returning her attention back to neverland.

"That's skull rock," Peter pointed to the small island fortress she'd observed earlier.

The Lost Boys laughed and jumped from cloud to cloud around them.

Lily looked to one of the larger islands, the one closest to them as well as the largest. She marveled at the scenery. Down the middle of the island was a mountain range, the largest mountain looked like it was a volcano. To the right was a lagoon.

"There's Neverland Mountains, next to it is Mermaid Lagoon." Peter pointed to the areas as he named them. "There," he pointed to another area below the mountains. "is Pirate Cove. There aren't any pirates hanging around anymore. The Indians live over there." Peter pointed to a small peninsula where Lily could see tiny tents in the distance. Next Peter pointed to a mountain covered in snow. "That's where the Frost King lives. And over there is Hangman's Tree!" Lily looked to where Peter pointed. There was a clearing in the forest that covered most of the Island, and in that clearing was a large, black, leafless tree.

"Has anyone actually been hung from that tree?"

"No, but it looks like a good hanging tree, doesn't it?" Peter grinned. Lily laughed and shook her head.

"So what is on the other island?"

Peter looked to the last island, his grin disappearing.

"Don't ever go to that island."

"Why?"

"Just don't." Peter glared at the island.

The Lost Boys quieted down and stopped bouncing and looked at Peter solemnly. Sensing it was a taboo subject, Lily shrugged and looked around.

"Alright, I absolutely love it… So, where to?"

Peter didn't answer, still staring at the 'forbidden' island.

Not one to be ignored, Lily huffed and leaped onto his back.

"Woah!"

"Where do you live, Peter?" Lily laughed in his ear.

"It our secret hideout, of course!" Peter crowed.

Lily smiled. It didn't take much to distract this boy.

"You mean you didn't move? Didn't the pirates discover our hideout?" Nibs asked.

"There wasn't any need, there aren't any pirates anymore!"

"Still, a secret hideout that isn't a secret isn't much of a secret hideout, is it?" Slightly pointed out.

Peter growled and punched his arm.

"Hey!"

"If the people who found out the secret hideout aren't here anymore that means its still a secret dummy!" Peter argued.

"Alright, alright! Stop fighting already!" Lily sighed. "So where is this questionably secret hideout?"

Peter grabbed hold of her legs, which were still wrapped around his waist, and took off towards the Neverland Mountains. As they flew closer Lily noted that the largest mountain was indeed a volcano. Once over the mountains Peter and the Lost Boys quickly descended into the forest, dodging trees as they flew. They landed in front of a large tree. The twins ran up to a vine, one climbing on the other's shoulders and grabbing the vine, the other then jumping up to grab his brother's waist and pull him down so that his feet touched the ground again. As they pulled the vine Lily was surprised as the tree opened up. She was about to comment when she felt several hands pushing her towards the tree. Before she knew it she was through the opening.

"See you inside Mother!" Curly's smile was the last thing she saw before the opening closed.

Lily shrugged and turned away from the 'door'. Knowing she couldn't go the way she came, she began to feel around in the dark and stepped further into the tree. It wasn't long before she lost her footing, or rather, there was no footing, and Lily was sliding down some kind of chute that twisted and turned before opening up. She laughed and tumbled to the ground, soon realizing she wasn't the only one laughing and tumbling to the floor. The Lost Boys cheered and ran around the room, picking up lost treasures and carrying on. They were clearly happy to be back.

She looked around the room, it was interesting. All of the furniture looked to be handmade and very well built. At the opposite side of the room was Peter, sitting in a large wooden chair, more like a throne than a chair Lily decided. The branches sticking our from the throne appeared as if they were still growing, the back was made of interwoven tree branches that still had a few leaves on them. There were also feathers and trinkets woven into the throne. There was a large dinner table not far from the throne with mismatched chairs and stools for each of the Lost Boys and a larger chair at the head of the table for Peter. There were several holes in the dirt walls around them, Lily presumed they were similar to the chute she'd fallen down. There was also a large fireplace built into one of the dirt walls. There was a doorway a few feet to her right, a large dresser with a few of the drawers sticking out with makeshift beds in them, and a few hammocks hanging from the tree roots poking out of the ceiling. A large old crib was to her left. As she stood and turned around she noticed there was also a staircase winding out of view.

"So," she announced, gaining the attention of the boys, "How about a tour?"

"Well, this is it, except for my room." Peter gestured towards the doorway.

"No, silly. I mean a tour of Neverland!"

"Oh! Sure!" Peter leaped from his throne and pulled her towards the stairs. "Where to first? What would you like to see?"

"How about Pirate's Cove?"

"Okay!"

As Lily allowed him to pull her up the stairs, a thought crossed her mind. "Peter? Where did Tinkerbell go?"

"Hm?" Oh… Tink disappears all the time. She goes to see the other fairies. They talk about all kinds of stuff. If anything goes wrong in Neverland, Tink is the first to know!"

"Oh!"

"Peter!"

"Speak of the fairy and she shall appear!" Lily smiled.

"Peter! The Jolly Roger! It's gone! The others saw it drift out of Pirate's Cove."

"Damn. I must've forgotten to put the anchor down." Peter frowned. "I'll just have to go find it then!" He let go of Lily's hand and ran the rest of the way up the stairs and out the little door at the top. Lily and the other boys quickly followed suit. Peter crowed and was already airborne, disappearing above the tree tops. The Lost Boys, bellowing their war cries, took off after him, following him to who knows where.

"Boys?! Hey!" Lily shouted, running after them. "I can't fly remember?!" Her only reply was their fading voices. She finally stopped, hand on hip, and huffed. "Thanks for the Tour!" she yelled at nothing. A few minutes later, she realized that they weren't coming back for her. Sighing, she turned to go back… only to find herself lost. She'd run further than she thought. Groaning, she dropped to the ground. Better to stay still than to wander in an unknown forest. If she wasn't careful she'd wander even further from the hideout. "Those silly boys better figure it out fast." She leaned against a tree and stared up at the sky.

Peter crowed again as he flew higher and higher. He wasn't all that worried about the Jolly Roger, he was sure he'd find it quickly. After all, he was Peter Pan! He could do anything! He caught sight of the ship drifting by skull rock.

"Peter, you forgot-"

"I know Tink! I forgot to drop anchor, but It didn't drift far. Look! It's right over there!"

"But Peter you fo-"

"Don't worry Tink, I won't forget again." He flew closer. "We didn't even have to look hard."

"Hey Peter, look!" Slightly pointed to the ship.

Taking a closer look Peter realized that there were people on his ship… there were pirates on his ship!

"The Pirates are back!" Peter grinned. "Guess they haven't had enough yet! This is great! Lily, you're in for a treat! There will be lots of new adventures now that the Pirates are back!"

"Peter-"

"How are you at sword fighting, Lily?"

"Peter…"

"I'll teach you if you don't know how."

"Uh, Peter?" Nibs called.

"You'll need to know how to defend yourself, the pirates are always after us."

"Peter?" The twins questioned.

"Don't worry, I'm the best fighter there ever was!"

"PETER!" Slightly yelled.

"Will you guys stop?! I can't hear Lily's… answer…. Guys… where's Lily?"

"We forgot Lily!" Tootles cried out.

Lily jumped at the sound of footsteps. She quickly stood and turned around. "You certainly took long enough! Oh!" Lily gasped.

The person in front of her was certainly not Peter or a Lost Boy.

"Hello…"

~End of Chapter~

~Author's Note~

That took longer than expected… but I was also watching movies while working on this so that slowed my progress down a good bit. If you've read the original story you'll notice I combined a couple chapters. Hopefully the next few chapters go quickly so that there's no repeating scenes.

Also, I have been trying to re-read and edit before posting but like I said I've been watching stuff so it was taking too long so if you find some misspellings I apologize. I will dedicate some time to going over the entire story once I finish the rewrites so I'll hopefully catch them later.

I've been contemplating putting together some cosplays of Peter and the Lost Boys and Lily… nothing is set in stone but there is a small possibility of it happening, if it does I'll let you know.

Anyways thanks for reading!
