~Chapter Three- Lily's Tour~

"I'm sorry, I thought you were someone else."

"That's alright." The stranger said, coming closer. "What are you doing?"

"Waiting for Peter and the Lost Boys to come back."

"They left you?" He cocked his head in curiosity.

""Yes… do you know them?"

He nodded. "You could say… we're old friends."

"Oh, well, I'm sure they'll be back soon if you'd like to catch up. Or at least I hope so." She muttered the last bit to herself.

The stranger heard her.

"Because they left you here?"

"Well, not on purpose. At least I think it wasn't" Lily laughed.

"I see," he gave her a small smile. "You have a pretty laugh."

She blushed, which caused the stranger to let out a low, deep sounding chuckle. "A pretty blush as well." He said.

"So, who are you? If you don't mind me asking?" Lily took a step back, the stranger was pretty close and it was making her a bit uncomfortable.

"Hm, I do not mind at all, but… my name is best saved for a later time."

For a moment, Lily thought his face had darkened, but it if it had it disappeared before she could confirm it.

"Why's that?" she asked.

The stranger smirked. "Because, silly girl… you are dreaming. If I am to tell you my name…" his arm raised, something glinted in the sunlight, "It'll be in the waking world." Lily's vision grew dark. As the world around her darkened, she heard his final wards.

"Or perhaps in a dream of my own."

Lily gasped as she jolted awake. She was against the tree she'd leaned against earlier.

"A dream?" she muttered as she stood and stretched. "He seemed so real though…" Realizing she was talking to herself, she sighed.

"LILY!"

Lily only had a chance to turn around before she was tackled to the ground, two twin faces talking animatedly above her. They were talking so fast she could barely understand them, but she did catch a few "Sorry"s and "Peter's fault".

"Alright! You're forgiven. Now, let me up boys."

The twins helped her to stand Looking around Lily noticed that neither Peter or the other Lost Boys were around. The twins stood on either side of her, holding on to her skirt as if they were afraid she'd disappear.

"Where are the other boys?"

"We split up," one twin began.

"To find you." The other finished.

"I see… then shall we go back to the hideout?"

The twins looked to each other. They released her skirt and raised into the air.

Not willing to be left behind again, Lily began to climb the nearest tree, once she was at the top she glanced around. The twins were the only boys in sight.

The twins took a deep breath and… "PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!" They yelled.

In the distance, Lily could hear an answering crow.

"There you are Lily! Why'd you wonder off?" Peter grinned.

"I didn't wander off!" Lily glared. "You all left me! One would think that when giving a tour you'd bring the tourist along!"

"Er, sorry about that." He rubbed the back of his neck sheepishly. "I got distracted?"

"Hm." Lily turned away.

Peter floated closer. "Are you mad?"

"Not exactly."

"So you are mad?"

"I didn't say that."

"You didn't say you weren't mad."

"I said not exactly!"

"That doesn't make sense!"

"It does-" she paused. "I guess it doesn't, does it?" she turned back to face him. "I suppose I am a little mad." She smiled. "Though I had an interesting dream."

"What kind of dream?"

"I was here, waiting for you… but there was a stranger that came instead. He was nice… I think."

"That doesn't sound so interesting to me." Peter scoffed.

"That wasn't the interesting part!" Lily huffed.

"Well, come on, spit it out!"

"He told me that he was an old friend of yours."

"What friend?"

"I don't know, he said he'd tell me his name in the 'waking world'."

"Well, it was just a dream."

"Yeah… it was just a dream."

"We should gather the rest of the Lost Boys! Let's go!" he began to fly away.

"Peter! You're leaving me here again!" Lily called, shifting to reach out to him.

*CRACK*

She cried out as the branch below her gave way and she plummeted towards the ground. She crashed through several branches, tearing up her arms and legs as she tried to catch herself, before a pair of arms wrapped around her waist and pulled her away. They descended to the ground at a much slower and gentler pace.

"Are you alright?" Peter asked worriedly. He let her stand on her own and she grimaced.

"Ow… that's going to leave a lot of bruises."

"You're bleeding!" He reached out his hand and his fingers brushed her forehead. She winced and he pulled his fingers back, showing her the blood on them.

"It's probably just a scratch," she smiled nervously. "I'll be fine."

"Are you sure?"

The twins landed beside them, the same worried look on their faces.

"Yeah, I'm okay. We should find the other boys."

"Alright," Peter nodded and gently picked her up. The four of them headed off to find the others.

As soon as they'd all gathered Lily was bombarded with questions and apologies.

"Alright alright! Settle!" The boys hushed. "I am fine, and I forgive you. How about we have some supper? I don't know about you, but I am absolutely famished! What shall we have then?"

"Well," Peter began sheepishly, "There isn't any food at the hideout?"

"How do you survive without food?" Lily gaped at him.

"When the food ran out I just went out to the woods and gathered nuts and berries when I'm hungry."

"Can't you cook, Peter?"

Peter shrugged.

"Well I can," Lily nodded and turned to the rest of the boys. "This is what I'll need." She gathered them close and gave each of them directions. One by one the boys took off to complete their tasks and soon enough she and Peter were the only ones left.

"What shall I do, Lily?"

"Well, first, I should like to go back to the hideout. Then, I'll need you to go hunting."

Peter had been the last one back. By the time he'd returned each of the Lost Boys had brought back what they'd been asked to gather. Vegetables and herbs lay neatly on the dinner table. He looked at one particular vegetable in disdain.

"I hate carrots." His face scrunched up.

"Carrots are good for you." Lily replied.

"Just because they're good for me doesn't mean I'll eat them."

Lily sighed. "Peter I haven't even made dinner yet and you are already refusing to eat it. At least give it a try, you won't even taste them, I promise!"

"Alright… but I better not taste them! What do you want me to do with these?" He asked, holding up the two dead rabbits he'd caught.

Lily asked him to skin them and cut them up outside the hideout. While he was gone she separated the pile of vegetables and herbs in half. She placed one pile in the basket and spread the rest on the table.

"Whatcha gonna do with the other ones?" Nibs asked.

"I'd like to plant a garden outside."

"Why?" Curly asked.

"So when the garden grows we won't have to search for these in the forest."

"Oh."

"Why don't you boys go and play outside? I'll call you back when supper is ready."

They cheered and rushed outside.

Lily gathered the vegetables and herbs for dinner and placed them in an overturned kettle she'd found. She hauled the kettle outside and found Peter cleaning the rabbits. "Is there a creek or stream nearby?" she asked him.

He nodded and stood, motioning for her to follow him. Behind the hideout, not too far away, there was a small stream from what Lily had a suspicion was another hideout entrance. She placed the vegetables on the ground and began to wash the kettle. "You should also wash up Peter… you've got blood all over your hands."

Peter nodded and complied. When he was done he sat beside her and watched her as she washed the vegetables.

"Lily?"

"Yes Peter?"

"Where are your parents?"

"I don't have any, I'm an orphan."

"But you used to have them, right? Even I did before I ran away."

"My mother didn't want me. She ran away from my father and left me in his care. He hated me for it. He'd hit me and yell at me for any reason. The neighbors called social services and they took me away and put me in the orphanage."

"He hit you?" Peter asked angrily.

"Yes."

Peter clenched his fists.

Lily stood, the cleaned kettle filled with fresh water sloshed a bit in her hands. "It is all in the past now." She smiled at him. "Could you bring the vegetables and meat inside?" He nodded and they went back to the hideout together. "You can put them on the table." She instructed. She hung the kettle over the fireplace and returned to the table to cut up the vegetables. Then she cut up the plants he wasn't familiar with."

"What are those?"

"They're herbs… they'll add flavor to the stew."

"Oh."

He watched as she placed the herbs into the kettle, then she cut up the vegetables and did the same and stirred. A few minutes later she took the plate of rabbit meat and dumped it into the kettle.

Soon enough the room was filled with a delicious smell.

"Would you set the table, Peter?"

He nodded. Wendy had taught him to do so long ago… she'd never cooked for them… but they'd arrange fruits and nuts on the table for dinner. He set the table the best he could with their mismatched plates and goblets and silverware. Lily nodded in approval when he was finished.

"Thank you." She smiled at him before returning to the kettle. He watched her from behind. He looked at her from head to toe. He still couldn't believe how pretty she was. He wanted to reach out and touch her hair… it looked very soft.

He shook his head. What was he thinking?! He hadn't wanted to touch Wendy's hair when she was here.

"One more thing Peter," Lily said as she turned around. "Could you gather the boys? Supper is almost ready. Do make sure they wash up, I want to see clean hands, alright?"

Peter nodded and and made a hasty retreat…. What was wrong with him?"

The Lost Boys weren't hard to find. He herded them to the stream to wash up and they were speeding into the hideout in no time.

"Everyone cleaned up?" Lily asked.

The boys nodded.

"Good, hands out." They all held out their hands for inspection. "Good. Take your places at the table then." Once they were seated she placed a bowl of stew in front of each of them. "Eat up."

The boys dug in.

"Wow!" The tootles exclaimed. "This is yummy!"

The boys nodded in agreement and let out muffled compliments from their full mouths.

"I'm glad you all like it."

"Will you cook for us again?" the twins asked.

"Of course I will. I'll cook for you whenever you'd like."

The boys cheered.

"So, Peter, do you taste the carrots?" Lily asked.

Peter paused. He'd forgotten about the carrots… he hadn't tasted them at all. He shook his head and grinned.

"Good."

They continued to eat their stew and chatted happily.

When the boys had finished their second helpings Lily asked, "So, who would like dessert?" They all replied with choruses of 'Me!'s and raised hands. Lily cleared their dirty bowls and gave them all plates with sliced apples with honey drizzled on top.

"Where'd you get the honey?" Peter asked.

"There's a beehive hanging from the top of the tree above us."

"Yeah, but the bees don't like to share their honey."

"There's a little trick I'd learned from one of the stall owners at the markets… you can use smoke to chase the bees out and you can get to the honey before they come back. If you don't take long, and you don't take too much, it won't hurt the bees and you won't get stung." She pointed to the rope ladder that lead straight up into the middle of the tree. "I got it while you were out gathering vegetables and hunting."

"Wow Lily… you're really smart." Slightly complimented.

"Thank you."

When they were done eating dessert, Lily gathered the plates together and placed all the dirty dishes in the kettle, she hefted the kettle up and headed towards the stairs. "I'll be back."

"Where are you going?" Tootles asked.

"To was the dishes."

"Why?"

"If I don't, they'll attract bugs."

"I like bugs." Curly commented.

"I'm sure you do," Lily laughed. "But you don't want to eat them, do you?"

Curly shrugged. "Wouldn't be the first time."

"Well I don't want to eat bugs… And dirty dishes get moldy… mold will make you sick."

"Let us help you!" The twins chirped.

"Alright."

Each of the boys grabbed some dishes from the kettle and headed for the stream, Peter took the kettle. Washing the dishes didn't take long at all… it was the laughing, the talking, the splashing and the inevitable water war they'd had that took a bit longer. By then end they were all soaking wet.

"I suppose that counts as a bath," Lily giggled as she shivered. The sun had gone down long ago and they all finally decided to head back inside. When she saw the Lost Boys shivering and yawning she said, "You boys get changed into some dry clothes and get ready for bed. Leave your wet clothes by the fire and I'll hang them up." The Lost Boys nodded sleepily and changed. "You too, Peter." She called as he began to hang clothes, facing the fire so that they boys could change in privacy. When she finished she turned to find them all crawling into their beds, save for Peter who stood right in front of her.

"You're still wearing wet clothes."

"I don't have any other clothes, silly!"

"Oh yeah…" Peter scratched the back of his head. "Well… I'm sure I can find something for you to wear. Come on." He captured her hand and pulled her into his room.

She looked around Peter's room, there was a large bed in the middle with some sort of animal pelt as a blanket. There were toys everywhere, a good many looked to be handmade, instruments too. There were also weapons strewn around… swords, daggers, a couple scabbards… also a bow or two and a couple arrows. There were also jewels and other knickknacks… a couple figurines… Lily didn't really want to know whether or not they were obtained honestly. In front of the bed was a giant chest. Peter walked over to the chest and opened it. He began pulling out different pieces of what Lily assumed was clothing and tossed them to the ground.

"Aha! Here!" He handed her the clothes in his hands. "You can change in here." He said as he walked out of the room.

He and the Lost Boys didn't have to wait long before Lily came out in her 'new' clothes. Peter found himself staring. He hadn't really had anything that would fit her properly, but at the moment he wasn't complaining. The only pieces he found that would fit her were an old pair of ripped black shorts that were a little too short on her and appeared to be a little snug. The large shirt was something stolen from the pirates, he'd cut it off at the middle a long time ago and now it seemed to be both too big and too small on Lily at the same time. It was too big because the shoulder had fallen down so that Lily's shoulder poked through the neck hole. It was too small because the diagonal cut Peter had made exposed Lily's stomach. Paired with a pair of striped stockings he'd also stolen from the pirates replaced her old torn and wet ones. He'd hoped to get the entire dress when he'd slipped in to the pirates' treasures… but he'd been discovered far to quickly and only managed to grab the stockings. He'd always meant to get more lady's clothes… in case they'd gotten a lost girl… and now that he'd brought Lily, he'd certainly have to find some now.

"What would you like?" Lily asked, pulling Peter out of his thoughts. "A story or a song?"

He realized she was not asking him, but the Lost Boys.

They chose a song.

Peter lounged in his throne as Lily began to sing.

The Lost Boys laid in their beds, eyes closed, with happy smiles on their faces as they listened to her lullaby. Lily had a wonderful voice, soft and soothing. As they fell asleep one by one Lily's voice grew quieter, finally growing quiet as her lullaby came to an end. Peter himself was half asleep when she turned to him.

"Peter?" she whispered.

"Hm?"

"Peter, where should I sleep?"

"Oh… well… you can sleep with me if you'd like."

"Are you sure?"

He nodded sleepily. He stood and walked to his room. "Are ya coming?"

"I'll be there in a moment. I'd like to check the clothes."

"Kay."

"Peter?"

"Yeah?"

"I just wanted to say… Thank You."

"For what?"

"For bringing me here, silly."

"Oh… you're welcome."

"Off to bed then… I won't be long."

Peter shrugged and went to his room. He dropped into his bed and got under the covers and was asleep before Lily returned.

When Lily entered Peter's room she tiptoed to the other side of the bed and crawled in.

"Goodnight Peter." She whispered to his sleeping form.
