Chapter 6
Walking towards the large Baobab tree that was now home to both Rafiki the pride's Shaman mandrill and Hakika the only sibling of Simba. As she came closer Nala caught sight of the younger lioness, dragging a fresh kill back to the tree's roots.
"Hello, Hakika." Nala said happily, smiling as she reached the large tree.
Hakika huffed in annoyance, at yet another interruption. Licking the blood from her two kills off her paws and her lips. She looked at the smaller gazelle that she just brought back; it was just a yearling plenty for a single lioness to feed off of for a few days. The larger gazelle had been placed near the scummy river that divided the outlands from the pride lands.
"Another messenger, first the ever so faithful majordomo and now the Queen herself." Hakika said with a sneer "Who will be next? His majesty I should be so honored."
Nala shook her head, ignoring the younger one's cold words "I hear you're not joining the ceremony." She replied taking a spot across from Hakika
"I'm not a member of 'Your' pride anymore." Hakika snapped as she tore off a piece of flesh from the gazelle
"You still have the blood of royalty running in your veins." Nala gently reminded her "it is the custom for 'All' members of the royal family to be there."
Hakika let out another huff "My father was a false king, a murderer, and a thief." She swallowed the chunk of meat "While my mother was mated into the royal family."
"Your father was born into the royal bloodline he was a prince of these lands." Nala explained as calmly as she could "And as his daughter you are a princess, it is time you take the responsibility of your title seriously."
Hakika remained still and silent for a moment before she rose to her paws and began to pace. Nala let out a chuckle the two siblings were very much alike.
"I hate your logic." Hakika muttered as she faced Nala
"So, you will be returning then."
"I don't have much of a choice."
The two lionesses, strolled quietly beside each other neither one spoke as they headed for Pride Rock. It didn't take long for them to reach the rocky surface. Taking a deep breath, Hakika began up the ramp and as soon as she reached the peak. She was tackled by a hurricane of gold fur.
"Aunt Hakika, your back, your back." Kiara giggled happily as she untangled herself from the slightly older lioness.
"It is good to see you." Hakika replied "you have grown." Kiara smiled at the compliment as Sarabi came to join the two.
Accepting the long missed nuzzle of her mother, Hakika purred as she returned the long awaited affection.
"You have grown as well." Sarabi muttered into her daughter's ear as she gently wrapped an aging paw around Hakika's shoulder. Upon, hearing the exciting talk Simba had awoken from his nap to see his sister being welcomed by the rest of the pride.
"How long are you saying?" he asked
"I have been told I have a duty here." Hakika said with a sigh "So I will stay as long as you will have me, brother." She bowed her head politely
"Welcome back, sister." Simba said as he placed a paw on her head and smiled with true joy that his family was once again whole.
