Ch 8
Hakika turned and tossed sleepily as she tried to find a comfortable spot to sleep. "Hakika, get up." Someone said causing her to open her eyes. Upon seeing the worried face of her mother, she blinked.
"Did something happen?" she asked tiredly
"Your brother needs your help, hurry now." Sarabi commanded hurrying Hakika to her paws. Quickly following the order, Hakika followed her mother down the stone ramp of their home.
"Mother, what has happened?" Hakika asked, but was quickly hushed.
Rolling her eyes, Hakika remained quiet as her mother sped up her pace from a lazy trot to a hurried gallop. Finally, Hakika spied her brother pacing back and forth muttering under his breath. Standing off to the side were two slightly familiar lions, but she couldn't recall at the moment. The smaller and thinner one, clearly a lioness was blessed with a golden pelt and stunning blue eyes. The larger a young lion, with a medium brown pelt with a slightly darker mane and dark green eyes.
"Vitani, Kovu?" Hakika muttered aloud as she slowed her pace down to a trot.
"They asked to speak with you." Simba growled out "and only you." He added as he glared at the younger lions. Ignoring her brother, Hakika eyes the two with concern.
"What happened?" she asked
"Mother..." Vitani, said the first to find her voice "She was tired of his, questioning of Scar's choice… she claimed." She paused to catch her breath.
"She claimed her was disloyal, and anyone disloyal had to die." Kovu continued for his older sister.
"Nuka..." Hakika muttered as a lump grew in the back of her throat. 'He was gone.' She felt her mind go blank, as her thoughts repeated themselves. 'He's gone, he's gone.'
"We didn't know who to turn too." Kovu said, his voice dropped to a whisper and both their eyes pleading for help. Finally, Hakika turned to her older brother her eyes watered with tears.
"Brother, you once gave them the option of living with us in the Pride lands." Hakika said pausing as the lump in her throat grew bigger "Please, give them that choice once again." She begged.
Simba, came out of his shock he knew Zira was deranged, but he never thought she would kill her oldest cub. He nodded "they are family." He said "And, I'm so sorry for your loss."
The younger lions, thanked him and a muttered a soft thanks. Before the pride began back to their home, Hakika stayed behind for a moment. Glaring at the Outlands, she cursed Zira in her mind before following her family.
