Ch 10
Simba impatiently tapped his paw against the stone floor of the den. Nala watched him; he had finally stopped pacing and finally settled down. But, still he was worried they all where a storm had drifted over the land pelting everything with hard cold rain. And, Hakika had yet to return it was dangerous for any animal to be out in this weather. Sarabi stared out into the storm awaiting news of her daughter. Simba had sent out search parties, Timon and Pumbaa left for Rafiki's tree but she was not there, and the other lions had not seen or heard anything as well. Finally, he sent Zazu out to inform the herds of the missing princess and to report if anyone knew her whereabouts.
"I'm sure she's fine." Nala said "She probably fell asleep and is coming back now." But her voice was filled with uncertainty.
"Or she is admiring the storm; she has always loved the rain." Sarabi said her face covered with worry.
The flapping of wings caught the royal family's attention. "Finally, Zazu has some news." Simba said with a sigh of relieve.
But, when the hornbill entered the den, his was panicked "Your majesties." He began trying to keep his voice strong "There's been an accident." He finished "You must hurry."
The lions quickly, rose to their paws following the majordomo at a fast pace. The storm raged around them as they drew closer to the river. When they arrived, they stood in shock as Hakika lying in a dark red pool of her own blood. Breathing heavily, she barely noticed the new arrivals her dark fur stained with the red liquid. Her front right leg had been chewed off, she was lucky to escape alive if just barely alive. The majordomo gently ran a blue feathered wing over her head to try and comfort the lioness.
"Mama..." Hakika cried when she caught sight of her mother. Sarabi quickly closed the gap between herself and her daughter, licking away at the scratches and bite marks trying to sooth the pain.
"I couldn't leave her for long." Zazu explained to the royal family
"Is Rafiki coming?" Simba asked feeling the need to vomit at the sight of his sister, but the glares from his mother and his mate made him swallow instead.
"I'm right here, your majesty." Rafiki called carrying his staff and a mixture of foul smelling herbs. He shooed the lions away so that he could get a closer look rubbing the foul mixture upon her leg to stop the bleeding. Simba, Sarabi and Nala prayed to the spirits that the Princess would last through the night.
