Rose's birthday part 3
Dhampirs-Do-It-Well.. Sadly, there was a problem shipping Dimitri to you (Rose went psycho and broke him out of the post office), but because he's a nice guy, he wishes you happy birthday and made me promise to update today :)
Disclaimer: Yes, I-
Christian: Hey, can I do the sarcastic disclaimer this time?
Me: I guess, if you say happy Christmas to my friend Vicky as well.
Christian: Dimitri's. Smexi. Shewolf owns a farm full of mythical creatures, Vampire Academy, the moon, and a hot Dhampir boyfriend... wait, never going to happen.
Me: Now you're just being mean. Hurry up and finish before I get Rose to beat you up again...
Christian: Fine. Happy Christmas. Now I'm going to go and hide from Rose. Bye.
Me: You better run... Anyway, Vampire Academy and the songs below belong to Richelle Mead and Taylor Swift respectively. Not me :(
RPOV
We were in the spa treatment room; one really large one that we could all fit into. There were curtains around that could be pulled across to give privacy for different clients, but we had them open. To save time, we were getting our facials done at the same time as our mani-pedis.
We were just deciding what nail colours/facials we wanted done.
Despite Lissa's protests, I had decided to just go for a French manicure, as it wouldn't show up as much when it inevitably started chipping off. Plus, my hands needed more TLC than the Moroi, so all the Guardians were going for the same thing. 4 of us were going first, then we would swap with the others.
I sat down in the chair and closed my eyes as the woman started to moisturise my face, or whatever it was. Then her colleague started work on my hands.
"What a beautiful ring." The manicurist's, Rachael, her name tag said, voice cut through the sound of tranquil music, and I could hear the others chattering to their own beauticians. We had all of them booked out, and one was complimenting the Moroi's complexions.
"Yeah, I got engaged two days ago." I replied.
"Well, congratulations. Whoever it is, they've got a good taste in rings." She said appreciatively.
"Yeah, he has generally good taste, that's why he's dating me."
She laughed, and began rubbing scrub into my hands. "Of course. What's his name, may I ask?" She said.
"Dimitri Belikov." I said, wondering why she wanted to know.
The woman seemed to know what I was thinking. "Sorry, I just like hearing happy love stories. My own hasn't really been much of a fairytale lately."
Oh yeah, I've been there. "Well, he was my combat instructor at, uh..." Why would I bother lying to a human? "At high school. Which is why my nails are so crappy, training kinda ruins them."
"Ooh, forbidden romance?" She asked, seeming not to judge me.
"Yeah. We tried to ignore it, and hide our feelings, but it was hard when I was trying not to drool the whole time."
She laughed again. "I know the feeling."
I heard someone stand up, and listening to the footsteps, could tell it was Lissa. She seemed to be showing Rachael a picture of Dimitri. "Seriously, who would make him a teacher where there were teenage girls?" I heard Liss ask.
"Whoa, yeah. Serious overlook on the part of the one who hired him."
I decided I liked being able to show Dimitri off as mine.
I couldn't talk any more as a face pack was put on, but I listened as Lissa and my manicurist chatted about stuff, and all too soon I was finished.
I stood up to let Lissa take my place. I admired my nails; they looked better than they had since Lissa and I had got them done at Court that time. Looking in the mirror, my face also looked better. It hadn't been bad to begin with, but it definitely had an after-facial glow.
I played pacman on my phone for a bit, whilst talking to Rachael, until everyone was finished. After talking about Dimitri and I some more, she told me some more about herself. It was the typical story of unrequited love, but the way she spoke about it made me think it was different to most other cases. She reminded me of me, just with less self-confidence. Even her witty remarks were the same as mine. Her devotion and strength made me believe that she would have been a great Guardian, had she been a Dhampir.
Just as we were leaving, I turned back to Rachael, and placed my hand on her arm. Looking her in the eye, I smiled. "Nothing is impossible. Believe me."
She smiled back, and nodded slightly. "Enjoy your wedding. If you need a stylist or whatever, you know where to come."
With that, we left the spa.
We listened to music on the way home, whilst talking about Lissa's upcoming wedding. With my engagement, we had been neglecting hers a bit. To be fair, most of it was done, but it was only a month away, and we had the worry of possible dress alterations for Lissa. I told her not to panic, she wouldn't even have a bump by then, but still she worried. She didn't want Court to find out that their Queen was pregnant before she was even married, with Christian Ozera's illegitimate child. Children, even.
Soon, we were driving under the sign for the campsite, and the circle of pine trees that surrounded our pitches soon came into view.
DPOV
The engine cut off, and rear door opened. A second later, I was attacked.
"Dimka!" A small brunette hurricane crashed into me, and I held my sister close.
"Vika ostorozhno. Ty slishkom bol'shoy chtoby prygat'na menya seychas."
(Careful, Vika. You're too big to jump on me now.)
She dropped back onto the ground. Seeing we had an audience, she switched to English.
"Sorry, I forgot you could take on Strigoi but your own sister is too much to handle." She grinned.
I heard the guys laugh behind me. "When that sister is you; then yes. I was fine with Sonya and Karolina, but then you were born and ruined everything. I liked being the youngest."
She shrugged, smiling. "But I'm still your favourite."
I didn't answer her, since it was pretty much true. Instead turned to see Nikolai coming round from the other side of the car with the bags.
He dropped one bag, freeing his hand, and I shook it. "Privet, Dimitri."
"Nikolai." I greeted him, before turning to the others. "This is my little sister, Viktoria, and her boyfriend, Nikolai."
I pointed to the guys, who had stood up to come and greet the newcomers.
"This is Eddie Castile, Christian Ozera, and Adrian Ivashkov." I indicated each of them.
I lowered my voice. "Govorit'o nem v Rossii za yego spinoy. On nenavidit yego." I told them both, indicating Adrian. (Talk about him in Russian behind his back. He hates it. )
"On razdrazhayet odin?" Nikolai asked.
(Is he the annoying one?)
"Yes." I nodded, then added, "Eddie will show you the way to where the party is."
This would be part of Roza's surprise, as she had been talking about how she wished we could go back to Russia again soon, as she missed Viktoria. I loved that she had become such good friends with my sister, and all my family, really.
Just before they turned to go, Vika put her hand on my arm. "Ya skuchal po tebe, Dimka." She said. (I missed you.)
I slung an arm around her shoulders before ruffling her hair like I did when she was small. "I ya tebya, Vika." (And I you.)
Nikolai and Vika followed Eddie into the woods, and I turned back to the others. "Aaw, Belikov has a soft side. Who knew?" Adrian joked.
"Certainly not you, Ivashkov. All you'll get is the hard side- of my fist if you're not careful."
Abe caught my eye, with a look scarily similar to Roza's when she was trying to hold back a smile. He had heard what I had said to Nikolai, and approved. Adrian must have been getting on his nerves this week, what with all the innuendos about me and Rose.
Anything else Adrian might have had to say to that was cut off at the sound of another car approaching.
"Everyone, go." I commanded, and all but Christian went off in pursuit of Eddie.
Christian and I sat down by the fire, and pretended to be deep in conversation.
RPOV
I got out of the car, and went to say hello to Dimitri. "Hey there, Comrade. Where did the less pretty amongst you disappear off to?"
Christian looked shocked. "You think I'm pretty, Rose?"
I looked at him and did a double take. "Oh there you are, Pyro. Didn't see you there. Well, that's one of you accounted for..."
He pouted, and it looked so stupid I couldn't help but Dimitri could speak, Lissa ran over and grabbed my wrist. "Come on Rose! Let's go try your new dress on!"
I tried to resist being dragged away, but she was surprisingly strong when she wanted to be.
"Better go, Rose. You don't want crazy pregnant vampire going all ninja on your ass. Those hormones are a bitch, I can tell you." Christian warned, and Lissa gave him the evils. He paled. "But really, my love, you are still as sweet and beautiful as ever."
With a huff, Lissa turned away from him, and dragged me to the tent. With a last, longing look at Dimitri, I allowed myself to be towed away by the great force of nature that was Lissa on a mission.
I stood in front of the full length mirror that Mia had somehow brought with her. That girl was a mystery to me.
I was wearing my new dress and heels, with my hair hanging loose down my back. Lissa slipped a few sparkly pins in, and told me to put some makeup on.
"Lissa, what's happening? Fun as it is to be your living dress-up doll, this is going a bit far now, don't you think?"
Seeing that I had made no move to uncap the mascara in my hand, she did it for me, before applying a thin layer of grey eye shadow.
"Lissa, please!" I begged, nearly getting lipstick all over my face as I spoke when she was trying to apply it for me. I grabbed the tube from her hand and threw it back into the makeup bag, turning to face my so-called best friend.
"Just humour me, Rose."She said, putting one last clip in my hair. "There, finished. Come on, let's go."
For the second time in the space of 15 minutes, she dragged me forcibly where she wanted to take me.
We stopped outside the tent to see Dimitri and Christian standing waiting for us, dressed in nice shirts. I hadn't noticed this before as they had both been wearing coats, which they now draped around our shoulders.
As we walked along a faded trail, I wondered what was going on. As soon as I started to ask, Lissa clamped a hand over my mouth. I sighed, and stayed silent when she removed her hand. If Lissa had anything to do with this, I wouldn't get an answer, but I would go crazy if I kept thinking about what lay ahead. So I gave up trying to find out and figure out what was going on, and focused on the scent of the duster I was wearing. Leather, a hint of aftershave, and a scent that was just Dimitri.
After a couple of minutes walking, I saw ahead of us a large lodge. For a second, my mind ran over all the cabin-related things Dimitri and I could be doing in there, but quickly squashed these thoughts when I remembered Lissa and Christian were right here.
Dimitri opened the door for me, and I stepped into the dark room. My eyes hadn't yet had a chance to adapt to the light, before I light came on and I heard "SUPRISE!"
"Surprise!" Called Adrian, a little belatedly, and everyone turned to glare at him.
I shook my head in mock disapproval. "That's Adrian. First to the party, first to the drinks, first to make a dick of himself."
He winked. "You know me, Rose. Get the party started, Ivashkov is in da house!"
I was just about to make another crack at him, when from the side of the room I heard a shout.
"Roza!"
What the..? I spun towards the sound, just in time to steady myself as a small brunette crashed into me.
"Vika!" I hugged her back.
This was one of the rare occasions I was caught off guard. "What...when...where did you come from?"
She pulled back and smirked. "Same place as Dimka." She said smartly. I rolled my eyes, regaining my head.
"Well duh. But seriously, when did you get here?" I asked.
"Dimka called 2 nights ago, and asked me to come to your birthday party. I brought Nikolai, and we used Zmey's private plane in Novosibirsk to get here. 12 hours later, here we are."
Nikolai stepped forward at the mention of his name. "Happy birthday, Rose." He said, and hugged me, before turning back to Viktoria.
I looked up at Dimitri. "Thank you. Now this really is perfect." I whispered, and took his hand in mine. He squeezed back gently, and looked like he was about to kiss me, when Viktoria pushed forward again.
"Mama gave me this to give to you."
I took the small white envelope from her hands, and opened it up. There was a birthday card with a long note inside.
Dearest Roza,
It is almost a year since you came to us, and it has not been an easy one. The day you came to tell me that I had lost my son; I found a daughter. From that moment I knew why Dimitri fell in love with you. I always hoped he would find someone like you, and was so glad that you had shown him how to trust and love, and that you found him before it was too late.
Then you brought him back to us, and I was happier than I ever thought I could be. I honestly believe that those 10 days you were both with us; I saw Dimitri smile more than he has in his life.
Thank you Roza, for never giving up on my boy, and for making Dimka happier that he has ever been.
I wish you a lovely birthday, and I am sorry I could not come to see you; I was unable to leave at such short notice.
Enjoy the rest of your day,
Love Olena xxx
P.S- Though the past is dark, the past is where it shall stay. The future is bright, and the fire shall burn eternal. And congratulations.
-Yeva
As I finished reading, I wiped my eyes on the back of my hand, trying not to smudge my makeup. I wasn't exactly bawling my eyes out, but I had welled up a little, and one lone tear traced its way down my cheek.
"What is it, Roza?" Dimitri asked.
I folded the letter, and smiled. "Don't worry, it's good crying. Your mom is so sweet." I laughed as I remembered the last line. "And Yeva says congratulations."
He laughed as well, whilst everyone else looked at us blankly. I held up my left hand so Viktoria could see the ring.
"Dimka! You finally did it!" She pulled him into a huge hug, dragging me with her. She could almost give Lissa a run for her money when it came to deadly hugs; though she had the extra strength, Viktoria didn't add the ear-splitting 'squee'. "My big brother's finally getting married! When's the wedding?" She squealed.
"Uhh..." I looked at Dimitri, and he shrugged. Viktoria looked shocked.
"You don't have a date yet?" She asked incredulously.
I shrugged. "Lissa's doing all that stuff."
Viktoria immediately let go of us and turned to Lissa. "You're maid of honour, right?" She asked.
Lissa nodded, and with that Viktoria shot over to her, asking about the wedding, speaking at 100 miles an hour.
"Poor Lissa." Dimitri said sympathetically. "I tried to warn her."
I watched the two walk over to the drinks table, talking animatedly. "Oh, don't worry about Lissa. She's finally found someone as interested as her about colour schemes and china patterns. It's us you should be worrying about; taking on those 2."
Dimitri's face went pale, and his eyes widened. "You're right. Vika is almost as bad as Lissa."
I smiled grimly. "Two wedding-crazed sisters- we're doomed."
An hour later, Lissa and Viktoria re-joined Dimitri and I.
"OK, so how does a _ July wedding at St._'s church sound?" Lissa asked.
"Plan for 50 people at ceremony, 100 attending the reception at our house." Viktoria added.
They spoke so fast, I barely had time to comprehend what they were saying. "Uh, yeah. That sounds great. I leave it in your capable hands."
I took another donut. I needed the sugar right now. Dimitri still looked a little shell-shocked from their rapid-fire questions. Viktoria laughed. "Look at Dimka's face. He's finally met his match."
He blinked, recovering his cool. "No, I am just unsure of the world I have just wandered into."
Just then, Christian came walking up. "Hey, man. I know how you feel. Imagine living with your own personal Bridezilla."
Lissa spun round to glare at him, and Christian put his hands up in a show of defeat. "I just came to ask Rose if she wanted to do -put dance music on, or do Karaoke first."
I jumped out of my chair. "Karaoke! Get it started, techno geek."
Christian scurried away before he wilted under Lissa's evil glare. A few seconds later we heard Christian's tinny voice through the microphone.
"Please make your way over to the stage for music fun."
Everyone turned to face him, and he spoke again.
"Come on Rose, birthday girl goes first."
I sighed, stepping forward. "This is one of those times that tradition must be broken one way or another. 'Save best 'til last' or 'birthday girl first'. Oh well, I'll go first and make the most of it. After all, it's only my birthday once a year, but I'm always the best."
I strutted up to the karaoke machine on the stage, ignoring the snide comments behind me. They couldn't deny the truth.
I used the remote to flick through the songs, which were arranged alphabetically, and after reading the first 5 I realised something. I turned around to face Christian. "Is Taylor Swift the only artist on here?" I asked sceptically.
He looked a little scared. "Uh, yeah. About that..."
I rolled my eyes and shrugged, and scrolled down to a song I wanted. I actually liked Taylor, they just didn't know it. If they ever sound out, I'd have no excuse to listen to the rest of Dimitri's crappy country music.
Once I had found the song, I motioned to Dimitri. "Come on, Comrade. Let's show this lot what real talent looks like."
He looked kinda like a deer caught in the headlights; so I smiled reassuringly.
Viktoria sniggered. "Dimka, remember when you sang in the school show?"
Dimitri glared at his little sister. "Yes, I do remember. But you don't, as you were only 2 at the time. Whatever Sonya told you was probably very exaggerated."
"So you didn't freeze up in front of everyone and run off the stage?" Dimitri replied using a Russian phrase he had used on me a lot in the past, and stepped up onto the stage next to me. He looked at the song choice, and turned to me, smiling.
I handed Dimitri a microphone, and Christian started the music playing.
We had decided that we would just sing the parts that felt right, and I started
Rose The way you move is like a full on rainstorm
And I'm a house of cards
A couple of people looked surprised at my voice, but it wasn't my closest friends. We'd had karaoke nights back at the Academy, and they'd heard me then.
Dimitri You're the kind of reckless
That should send me runnin'
But I kinda know that I won't get far
Dimitri grinned at me, and I gave him a killer smile in return. Looking around, I could see looks of surprise on everyone's faces now. They had never heard him sing before, even Viktoria. I had; sometimes I'd be singing along to the radio and one of our songs would come on, and Dimitri and I would spontaneously dance around the kitchen or wherever, and we'd sing it together, ending up in fits of laughter by the end.
Rose And you stood there in front of me
Just close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of
Both Drop everything now Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk Take away the pain
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those green eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Adrian waved at us and smirked.
"I knew you were secretly lusting over me, little Dhampir, and Belikov for Lissa!
I rolled my eyes, making a mental note to change the 'green' to 'brown' next time.
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Dimitri My mind forgets to remind me
You're a bad idea
His voice really was beautiful, like velvet and honey and silk.
Rose You touch me once and it's really something,
You find I'm even better than you imagined I would be.
Dimitri I'm on my guard for the rest of the world
But with you I know it's no good
Rose And I could wait patiently but I really wish you would...
Both Drop everything now Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk Take away the pain
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those brown eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Adrian feigned hurt at the colour swap, clutching his heart.
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Dimitri I run my fingers through your hair and watch the lights go wild.
Both Just keep on keeping your eyes on me, it's just wrong enough to make it feel right.
Rose And lead me up the staircase
Won't you whisper soft and slow?
I'm captivated by you, baby, like a firework show.
I took a step towards him, closing the small distance between us.
Both Drop everything now Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk Take away the pain
Dimitri spun me round, and when I stopped twirling I placed a hand on his chest to steady myself.
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Get me with those brown eyes, baby, as the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
'cause I see sparks fly whenever you smile
Dimitri And the sparks fly...
Rose Oh, baby, smile...
And the sparks fly...
As the song ended, I realised how close I was pressed to Dimitri, and decided to make the most of this situation.
I reached up and my lips crashed into his, which kissed me back fervently. One arm was locked around my waist, the other hand tangled in my hair. Mine were wrapped around his neck, trying to get closer to him.
His tongue slid along my bottom lip, and I parted them, granting him entrance. A few seconds of seriously great kissing later, I heard someone shout.
"Eew! I just saw tongue! Dimka, let the poor girl breathe!"
We reluctantly broke apart, and I was actually pretty out of breath. Maybe I actually had forgotten to breathe. That happened sometimes.
I looked down at Viktoria, the one who'd spoken. All my friends had already closed their eyes, and Adrian actually had his hand covering Sydney's eyes.
"Sorry you had to see that, Vika. Your brother's just too sexy for his own good."
She groaned, and Adrian began to make a comment, but I cut him off. "Adrian, since you love the sound of your own voice so much, why don't you come up here and put it to good use?"
He shut up quickly and started to back off, but Sydney grabbed his arm and started pulling him towards the stage. "Come on Aids, I know the perfect one!"
I tried to hold back a laugh, and allowed Dimitri to lead me back to the others, when Viktoria wrinkled her nose in disgust at the 2 of us. I stuck my tongue out at her, and she recoiled.
I was interrupted in my teasing by a new song starting, Mine.
Adrian You were in college working part time waiting tables
Left a small town, never looked back
Sydney I was a flight risk with a fear of falling
Adrian Wondering why we bother with love if it never lasts
I say can you believe it?
As we're lying on the couch
The moment I can see it
Yes, yes, I can see it now
Both Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
Sydney You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Flash forward and we're taking on the world together
And there's a drawer of my things at your place
You learn my secrets and you figure out why I'm guarded
You said we'll never make my parents' mistakes
But we got bills to pay
Adrian We got nothing figured out
When it was hard to take
Yes, yes, this is what I thought about
Both Do you remember we were sitting there by the water?
You put your arm around me for the first time
Sydney You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Do you remember all the city lights on the water?
You saw me start to believe for the first time
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
You are the best thing that's ever been mine
Both And I remember that fight, 2:30 a.m.
As everything was slipping right out of our hands
Sydney And I ran out crying and you followed me out into the streets
Braced myself for the goodbye
'Cause that's all I've ever known
And you took me by surprise
You said I'll ever leave you alone
You said
AdrianI remember how we felt sitting by the water
And every time I look at you, it's like the first time
I fell in love with a careless man's careful daughter
She is the best thing that's ever been mine
Sydney(Hold on, make it last)(Hold on, never turn back)
You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter
Both You are the best thing that's ever been mine,
(Yes, yes), Do you believe it? (Yes, yes), We're gonna make it now,
(Yes, yes) and I can see it
I can see it now
They finished singing, and kissed quickly before stepping off the stage, and handing the microphones to Mia and Eddie. They sang Treacherous together, and I was so pleased Eddie had found someone, and was happy that Mia had a guy who would finally treat her right.
As they finished, Lissa turned to Christian. "Hey, do you want to do one?"
He shook his head with a horrified expression. Seeing the disappointment on Lissa's face, he buckled.
"Later, Liss, I promise. Once I've had bit more to drink, okay?"
This seemed to satisfy her. She turned to me instead. "You up for another song, Rose?"
I stood up. "When am I not?"
We went over to check the list of songs. Before I even turned over to the next page, she pointed one out.
"Rose, we have to do this one!"
I looked at her choice.
"Are you sure?" I asked, not sure how this was going to go.
"Yeah!" She shouted. "On the ski trip we listened to, like, nothing else."
She gasped. "Rose! I just realised why! I'm so stupid! I can't believe I never realised this before."
She slapped her forehead, and I shrugged. "I just have awesome self-control."
Everyone commented on that, but I ignored them as I stepped up onto the stage with Lissa. We huddled close. "Are we going to do the dance?" She asked.
"Well, duh. If you still remember it."
She gave me a withering look. "When have I ever forgotten one of our dances?"
She had a point, but instead of answering, I turned my back on the others and Lissa copied me. The music started up and I counted in my head.
Now go stand in the corner
And think about what you did
Ha, time for a little revenge
We both turned in synchronization to face the front.
The story starts when it was hot and it was summer
And I had it all, I had him right there where I wanted him
She came along, got him alone, and let's hear the applause
She took him faster than you can say sabotage
I never saw it coming, wouldn't have suspected it
I underestimated just who I was dealing with
She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum
She underestimated just who she was stealing from
I pointed to myself, before playing crazy air drums for a second, whilst Lissa air guitar-ed.
She's not a saint, and she's not what you think
I put my hands over my head like a halo, then snapped them, letting them fall back to my sides.
She's an actress, whoa
She's better known for the things that she does
On the mattress, whoa
Crossing my arms one at a time over my body, I popped my back and stuck my chest forward before doing an exaggerated sex move, pumping my arms and hips.
Soon she's gonna find stealing other people's toys
On the playground won't make you many friends
I shook my finger like I was telling off a naughty child
She should keep in mind, she should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge, ha
I pointed to my chest, before running a finger across my throat and glaring.
She lives her life like it's a party and she's on the list
She looks at me like I'm a trend and she's so over it
I put my hand up in front of me and recoiled, in a bitch 'I'm sorry what!?" kind of way, before dropping it and waving it off, like I didn't care about something.
I think her ever present frown is a little troubling
She thinks I'm psycho 'cause I like to rhyme her name with things but
I pointed to my head like I was crazy, before punching my palm in a threatening way. Smash-her, smasher, Tasha...
Sophistication isn't what you wear or who you know
Or pushing people down to get you where you wanna go
Oh, they didn't teach you that in prep school, so it's up to me
I pointed at the crowd before swinging my hand so I was pointing to myself.
But no amount of vintage dresses gives you DIMITRI!
I shouted. Lissa sang 'dignity', obviously, but I said what I had been thinking every time we sang this on the ski trip.
She's not a saint, and she's not what you think
She's an actress, whoa
She's better known for the things that she does
On the mattress, whoa
Soon she's gonna find stealing other people's toys
On the playground won't make you many friends
She should keep in mind, she should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge, ha
I'm just another thing for you to roll your eyes at, honey
I did an exaggerated eye/head roll.
You might have him, but haven't you heard?
I'm just another thing for you to roll your eyes at, honey
You might have him, but I always get the last word
I punched the airtriumphantly.
And do you still feel like you know what you're doing?
'Cause I don't think you do, oh.
I shook my hips, increasing the tempo as the volume of the song got louder.
Do you still feel like you know what you're doing?
I don't think you do, I don't think you do
Let's hear the applause
C'mon show me how much better you are
I put my hands out in front of me and moved my fingers, inviting an imaginary bitch to come fight me.
See you deserve some applause
'Cause you're so much better
I put a hand over my heart dramatically, like I was offended by the thought.
She took him faster than you can say sabotage
Lissa and I both stopped moving for a second, before looking at each other and bursting out laughing, and we leaned on each other for support.
When we finally gained control, Lissa was the first to speak.
"I like your little adaptation, Rose. I've got to say, it confused the hell out of me when you said it once on the ski trip. I thought I'd misheard, but I was right!"
I gave her a guilty smile, before jumping off the stage, not bothering to use the steps down.
Christian was still laughing.
"Someone's possessive! You were showing off so much on the ski trip, I should have realised there was a guy involved! Rosie was jealous- of my Aunt!" He choked out, like it was the funniest thing in the world. "And once when I looked on her iPod, she had been listening to the same song!"He erupted with a new wave of laughter.
I flicked my hair over my shoulder. "Well, she certainly got her revenge, at least for a bit. But you have to do better than that to take Rose Hathaway down. I showed her what happens if you screw with me. I won in the end; I got the guy."
I put my hand on Dimitri's shoulder possessively, and he smirked at me, one eyebrow raised. He hadn't spoken this whole time, and I had a suspicion that he was trying not to laugh.
"You can't judge, Belikov. You looked like you wanted to kill any guy who was within a 5 metre radius of Rose the entire time." Adrian commented.
The smile on Dimitri's face changed, like he was considering doing just that right now. "Believe me; you were at the top of the list." Dimitri said drily.
After getting drinks and having something to eat, I convinced Dimitri to do another song with me.
As I searched through the list, I found one I wanted. Since the last one had become a little... heated, I figured we were probably safer with a cheesier one. That and I knew it would irritate Dimitri a bit, and I thought he needed a bit of punishment for arranging this whole surprise party. He knows I hate surprises.
When he saw what I had picked, he carefully pushed aside his male pride and picked up a microphone.
Rose Friday night beneath the stars,
in the field behind your yard,
you and I are painting pictures in the sky.
And sometimes we don't say a thing;
just listen to the crickets sing.
Everything I need is right here by my side.
And I know everything about you
I don't wanna live without you.
Both I'm only up when you're not down.
Don't wanna fly if you're still on the ground.
It's like no matter what I do.
Dimitri Well you drive me crazy half the time;
Rose the other half I'm only trying to let you know that what I feel is true.
Both And I'm only me when I'm with you.
Rose Just a small town boy and girl
livin' in a crazy world.
Tryin' to figure out what is and isn't true.
And I don't try to hide my tears.
Dimitri The secrets or my deepest fears.
Through it all nobody gets me like you do.
And you know everything about me.
You say that you can't live without me.
When I'm with anybody else it's so hard to be myself.
Only you can tell.
Both That I'm only up when you're not down.
Don't wanna fly if you're still on the ground.
It's like no matter what I do.
Dimitri Well you drive me crazy half the time;
Rose the other half I'm only trying to let you know that what I feel is true.
Both And I'm only me
Who I wanna be
Well, I'm only me when I'm with you
With you
And so the night went on...
Still another part of Rose's birthday to go!
