The two were just staring at each other. Robin had already asked his question, but Terra had yet to answer. It was obvious that she would rather be elsewhere. This was a part of her life that she did not want to relive. She redeemed herself, well at least in her own eyes. So it was Robin's responsibility, as a hero, to let her be. That is what she wanted.
"Robin, he will find out. If I tell you, he will come for me," Terra warned him. He wasn't someone that she wanted to see again. He wasn't someone Robin wanted to see again. He wasn't someone that anyone wanted to see again. He was better off away, but they always knew that he would show his face again. That was an inevitable thing for him to do.
"We can protect you, Terra," Robin said reassuringly. But was he saying that to her or to himself? If they really could protect her it was going to be everything but easy.
"No, you can't. He was the one who erased my mind."
Robin was obviously shocked by that. No matter how many times they went up against the guy, he would always be their strongest villain. He always had a trick up his sleeve, and they never knew what to expect from him, because he always did the unexpected.
"When you guys defeated Trigon everyone was let out of their stone states, including me. He knew that. Somehow he knew that. I don't know how he knew, he just knew. He also knew that the first people that I wanted to see were you guys. So he stopped me. I was going to the tower, and he stopped me. He told me that since he did not get his flesh and blood back; my memory was to be gone. I was hoping to rejoin the team, but this time I was planning on being an actual hero. I was planning on being an actual friend. Even though I know you guys wouldn't let me," Terra on the brink of tears explained, "He will find me! After he erased my memory I was safe. Now that I have my memory back, I realize that this life just isn't worth it. As long as there are people like him I will never be able to live the life I want to live. Robin, he will find me! Robin, he will find me! Robin, please go away. He will find me!" Terra then collapsed right on to her knees. This was beginning to be too much for her to handle.
Robin understood clearly. He wondered what he was doing there. This was wrong. Yes, Terra betrayed them, but whatever was happening she deserved to stay out of it. Her life was no longer with the Titans. Her life was to be a normal girl. She had handled all she could, and now it was time to let her live. It no longer mattered what Jericho's connection with him was. It was not fair of Robin to put Terra in this position. He then left her alone.
As he was walking away he began to think of everything that was happening. Not too long ago they had defeated a team of supervillains that had done nothing but destroy. The Brotherhood of Evil was stopped. Maybe not for good, but they were stopped. They were frozen in France. Trigon was defeated. Brother Blood was out of their way. Why couldn't they just enjoy a victory? Why is it that there was always one thing after the other? Robin was alone with his thoughts, and there wasn't anything more harmful to him than that. Walking down the street he was connecting the dots to so many of the occurrences over the year. It started to occur to him that everything was connected one way or the other, but he wanted to know how. Did it all stem from Jericho? Even if Jericho had this huge secret why was Terra aware of what that secret was? Was it even a secret, or was it just something that Robin didn't know? Could it be the reason why Jericho is unable to talk? That was something that perplexed Robin. He didn't complain though since it did help him practice his sign language. For the remaining time that Jericho there in the city with them he and Robin spoke the most out of everybody. Robin would never admit it, but he was definitely showing off. No one else in the tower knew how to properly communicate with the blond boy.
As he was walking down the street his communicator went off. It seems as though the white blob thing had returned. And Robin decided that it was going to be the last time that that thing showed its face, or whatever it was that it had. Starfire was panicking. Yet again their attacks were useless.
Raven was throwing cars and steel bars at the thing. Cyborg was blasting and blasting away. Starfire's eyes were shooting their green beams as hard as they could. But still nothing worked for them. The thing wasn't going to be beaten. As they were fighting the thing, still unknown, they heard a whistle. "Heal, boy," a familiar voice said. As she came down to them with a smile her purple bolts illuminating her outline. "Sister," Starfire said with clear anger and clear shock even though she tried to hide it.
"What is it that you want, Blackfire?"
Blackfire commanded the monster to stand down and began her rant, "You like it? My husband invented it. We both knew that none of you could handle it. My dear sister, you need to understand that there are heroes with less than kind family members. Did you really think that you and Raven were the only ones?"
Starfire's eyes turned green. Fixing a problem that she started was not going to redeem herself in Starfire's eyes. Her sister was the reason that that thing had even come to Earth. At least now they knew what it was and how it got there. Starfire had reached her limit with her sister. She was done with all of the betrayal, and all of the danger. So she began to start the throwing of the bolts. Blackfire dodged them all. Then Blackfire showed the Titans that she meant no harm in battle. She destroyed her little pet. Then flew away, but before she did she said, "Why don't you guys understand? There are no such things as coincidences. We will see each other again. We will have a big family reunion, so to speak."
"Exactly, what was that supposed to mean? Blackfire came and left. It wasn't like her to do something so harmless," Robin thought. Still she did plenty harm by introducing that thing into the city. Raven interrupted him in his gaze. It was time to go back to the tower. Certain things needed to be discussed.
As the leader one would think that the meetings would be held by Robin, but Raven decided that she was going to take charge. Something was going on, and she had a feeling that Robin already started investigating. So he told them, "Look guys, I am a detective at heart. So I decided to go see Terra. She told me that an old enemy of ours had returned. And he has a strange connection with Jericho," Raven took her hood off and interrupted, "Robin, tell me she didn't give you a direct answer." Robin just stared at her. He saw that the others were seeing a bit of hypocrisy in Robin. "Look you guys, Blackfire was right. There is no such thing as a coincidence. Beast Boy told us that he saw him. But of course we all thought that was Beast Boy's imagination. What if he actually is back? It all has to do with Jericho. Remember Trigon promised Slade that he would get his flesh and blood back? What if that wasn't his actually skin? What if he was talking about Jericho? "
"Robin, what are you saying?" Cyborg asked.
"He is saying that friend Jericho is related to Slade," Starfire answered.
The Titans tower opened and they heard, "Not just related. Slade is Jericho's father."
There she stood with her ponytail and her red dress with stars. Her lasso was illuminating contributing to her heroic demeanor as she had both of her hands on her hips, and for whatever reason was looking at the ceiling; almost as if they were living in a television show, and this was some type of big reveal. The lighting of the sun made her entrance just a bit too dramatic for them. Greeting them with a semi smile, the Titans knew that she didn't come as a friend today, but as a fellow hero.
"Wonder Girl," Raven said.
"How did you know that?" Robin asked.
"Boy Wonder, is that really the question you want to ask? Even though I know that you are wondering other things. Like: Why didn't the Brotherhood of Evil attack me; how do I know Jericho if the first time you guys met him was during that fiasco; how was Slade able to erase Terra's mind; or how long is she going to keep us waiting?"
Wonder Girl stood there with all of the others looking at her. It was always a pleasure to have her around, but there were pieces of the puzzle that needed to be put together, and it seemed like she could answer. She was right. These were all questions that needed to be answered, especially the one about her keeping them waiting.
She finally spoke, "It all has to do with why Slade targeted the Teen Titans."
The suspense was killing them. That was one flaw of Wonder Girl's. She was just too dramatic, but at a time like this maybe just maybe it was appropriate.
Wonder Girl then deciding to take them on a journey to the past.
