Minato simply couldn't sleep that night since everything that day had been going by so impossibly fast. In the morning it was just about as normal as normal could get, with the addition of Nyx, Kanashi and Yashiro. In fact, everything the past few weeks was going just fine! There wasn't anything going on before, and there just wasn't anything of note. He was almost wishing that it would stay that way, but you know… he has to be him, and that means having the worst of luck to have the world's fate on your shoulders. Tell him again, why was Fate such a bitch?
All that he wanted to do was stare at the ceiling, and that was how it was going to be. Looking up, it felt as if everything could be stagnant; almost as stagnant as the Dark Hour when it finally fell. It was about as still as that god-forsaken time. Just moonlight, moonlight and more moonlight.
Moonlight. That word, he had no qualms with, however thinking about it gave him bad and worse memories. It wasn't as if he could simply forget what happened on the Moonlight Bridge, just like that, now that he had been able to fully recall what happened the year before.
There were many things that he was worried about before. And now there were more. Nyx, his friends, and now the threat of world destruction? What else could possibly be put on his shoulders for him to carry?
His friends were going to get involved with the Strega threat now that they had associated themselves with Nyx. Something could happen to any one of them, and at the worst, they would be dead and there would be next to nothing that he could do about it. He may have, at one point, been the saviour of the world, but there's still only little that he could do against the ravenous force that was Death. Even he, as the messiah, could not defy Death for that long. After all, when Jesus died and walked in the depths of hell to free the tormented, he may have come back, but he still went up to heaven in the end.
Could that happen to him too?
Nyx and the threat of the Fall, he had taken upon his shoulders. However, that didn't mean he had to like that fact. And no, he didn't. Had he been any more selfish, he could've gotten someone else to carry that hefty responsibility and burden. But, that wasn't him, and he knew better than anyone else, that you were supposed to take responsibility for your own actions.
Truly, he almost no longer knew what he had been getting himself into.
Nyx may have been getting somewhat warmer, but that didn't mean that she still believed in what friendship was. Not at all. In fact, underneath her slightly warm demeanour, she still believed that people in that world really wished for the Fall and that their wishes overwhelmed the rest of humanity's will to live. And really, it had just about been proven to her with the existence of the Nyxist cult that ran the assassination site. And that was why she laughed.
People wished for her to bring the Fall, and she would, without question, bring the Fall; if not for Minato's intervention.
Minato groaned as he tried to roll over and block the view of the moon from his window. "Why is it that I feel so utterly fucked?" he muttered.
There was a last matter… Kanashi and Yashiro weren't quite as involved in SEES' problems before. Minato's problem, that is. Now they were. And while they certainly had the capabilities to at least defend themselves, when there was the possibility of being targeted with things like guns and actual deadly weapons without something like a Persona or a gun of their own… what was there to do? Truly?
It wasn't as if Minato knew if the two of them had the potential, and if they did, he would never know. Things were truly unsafe for everyone now.
…
A lone teenager looked around the blood filled streets, his nose recoiling as the scent of blood and old iron wafted towards it. Let's call him… Taka for now. He had no idea what was happening, but he had just gotten into a fight, and he was pretty sure that the sky wasn't supposed to be green and everything around him turned to coffins.
Wait, people turned into coffins?
Taka looked around the tall and dark forms of the caskets, walking around them, not quite sure what to do. He could just run and leave them alone. Or…
He growled as he remembered why he was even in this fight. He was supposed to be fighting his 'friends.' No, they weren't his friends anymore. Fucking backstabbers, that's what they were. Bastards.
Maybe he could do something… a little different.
He smirked to himself. Maybe he could…
Taka ripped off the coffin lid of one, taking a look inside for the resting form of his past friend inside the coffin. The backstabber inside didn't appear to move, and was seemingly in a coma-like state as he stood cold and almost lifeless inside the container. It was almost as if he was dead.
Taka stood with a smirk, trying to see how much his 'friend' would react to his hits. A punch with not much force within made contact with his chest, and yet he did not stir at all.
He kept on experimenting with different amounts of force, and it seemed to Taka that if he would start to drag any part of the body from out of the coffin, he would start moving a bit. That wasn't what he wanted.
No.
Best thing about this whole thing? That friend of his wouldn't even be able to scream as he took his revenge and got him back for everything that he had done to wrong the teen.
…
Kanashi kept thinking and thinking about how he could get back at Nyx. Even if she was a girl, and according to him, he wouldn't hit a girl, hell, even a goddess…
No-one disrespected him.
Kanashi was a particularly proud person, and exceptionally stubborn. He was truly a force to be reckoned with on the streets if he needed to defend himself and not only that, but he enjoyed himself some amount of trolling around on the internet. Maybe not just on the internet, and maybe in real life sometimes when it was about test scores or something like that.
He knew that he wasn't going to be able to be the best of people. Kanashi could be a bit of a bastard sometimes when it came to getting under people's skin. And maybe not just getting under their skin and getting even worse. Not that he would ever admit it to himself. He was too proud for that. Kanashi was so proud, that he would never admit to himself his own flaws and would hate if someone called him out to be so.
And the thing is?
No-one could say anything at all. And the ones who did and the ones that had anything to say about it?
All of the ones that came at him with harsh words and violence at their side, ended up in the hospital. He was tough. Tough as nails, tough.
Those who assailed him would get no mercy, and Kanashi would come back at them with a vicious and ravenous vengeance. No-one opposed him.
Not even a self-proclaimed goddess.
In fact, he could actually care less about whether or not Nyx was a goddess. Not one damn. That status wasn't going to stop him from getting revenge on Nyx for getting him unconscious like she did. It wasn't that much however, so Kanashi wouldn't have dared try to cash her back with violence or anything of the sort. Besides, he wouldn't hit a girl.
Under all the tricks that he pulled, and the hilarity he summoned to a conversation or situation, he was no pushover. He never would be. He couldn't. Not when there were people out there that could try and attack him from any angle.
Even his friends.
He didn't trust them all either. Not even Minato.
So… "What should I say?" Kanashi smiled a little as he wondered what he should troll Nyx on.
…
On the other end of the spectrum, there was Yashiro.
"Hm… today was hectic," he mumbled to himself as he spun around in his computer chair, not really minding the tablet that he had on the table. It was out of battery, like usual. Which sucked, of course. But it was late and he probably wasn't going to use it again so it didn't matter too much to him at that moment in time.
All that he was doing now was thinking about the day that had just passed. So today, he had met up with Kanashi, Chidori, Nyx, Minato and all his friends. And he had a lot of friends. And he was sure, that Minato had even more.
Which was pleasant to see. Friends were always nice to have around. Positive relationships in general really, all of them were good. Yashiro couldn't possibly figure out how Minato had gained so many friends, but he was at least pleased to see that they all seemed to get along. Well, except for Nyx that is. Speaking of her, she was certainly an odd one.
She didn't seem to quite… mix with anyone in the group besides Minato. In fact, Minato seemed to be the one with the most influence on her. Nyx didn't appear to have any friends in fact. Minato seemed to barely qualify as a friend to her. Well, that was what Yashiro thought anyways.
And most of all, she was also a goddess with a cold and icy disposition. Underneath all the beauty that Yashiro could hope to see from Nyx, she was some kind of frigid, and had a no sell attitude that earned her a commanding presence among almost everyone that interacted with her. It also meant that she was more distant to everyone else. Almost as if she was a higher being like Minato had said; a goddess.
Yashiro did indeed believe that Nyx was a goddess. It wasn't as if Minato had lied to Yashiro before, and he wouldn't believe that any kind of friend would try to lie about something as far-fetched as that. He did question it, but by Minato's expression and reaction to Nyx's outburst at Kanashi, it didn't seem as if he was joking.
Yashiro knew that not all was right when it came to friendships that could be made, and that you had to be extremely careful with them. They were fragile things that could easily be broken. He cringed as he thought about it. And yet, the truest of friendships were things that were strong, things that everyone involved in could rely on in times of need.
He truly kept them close to his heart.
"It was pretty exciting…" he mumbled as he drew a card from a Tarot deck.
Pulling it up so that he could see the image and symbol, he smiled a little as he looked at it. "Star," he chuckled.
"Maybe things are looking up…"
AN: I'm back, and things have shifted in tone, haven't they? Think of it as a season change of a sort. Well, I still hope that it's okay. There were always going to be dark themes in a fic called 'Days of DARKNESS' after all. Yes, I just went there. No, I'm not ashamed.
Plz box me yo thoughts, I'd appreciate it.
Imma see you guys later.
Nights: Yes. I hit a huge target on this chapter, LOOK AT THE MOOD CHANGE! XD
That is a mystery, is it not?
Of course. I myself think it's cool, so yeah.
But Nights, every chapter in DOD is short!
Sure, I will!
Raidou: Yes… assassins there are, it'll be epic their first clash… but now for the weather, because I have some other things to explain now that I'm in third person!
Yeah, I'm going to have fun with this.
Of course.
Yoshikunitsu: Yes, I would say so as well. He's done EVERYTHING.
Yashiro will be explained, and Kanashi… he's going to be a bit of a secret until later.
Well, we can only see, ne?
I know. But thanks!
Eivexst: That's her no sell ability there. And yes, it could be.
Of course. Darkness digs deep, does it not? Who knows what's within?
Ah, I haven't even played ANY of the game. You're a step ahead my friend.
I wouldn't write if I didn't want to. Just so happens I want to write all the time right about now.
Decode: I know, they're awesome!
Yeah, it's one of those creepy, out of place moments.
Yes, he is. Haha, maybe he will. (definitely NOT the most obvious spoiler here)
Thanks! And yes, more people should watch it.
Anakin: Ah, but dear intrepid, Nyx and Minato takes time my friend. If you really want a date… Persona 3: Never To Leave, chapter 35. You can thank me later if you go and read it, because these kinds of moments will not come until later.
No, she will not be. I have never intended it, because as great of a character Hamuko can be, I don't need her in this story. Sure.
