"What is it?" Yashiro asked apprehensively as Akihiko and he set Kanashi down on the dorm couch. Thanks to Mitsuru there wasn't much fuss about getting Kanashi somewhere safe where he could rest. At this point, it was what was best, because none of the teens wanted to aggravate his wounds.
Mitsuru sighed and rubbed her temple before she said, "You see, after looking over some files that the Kirijo group has compiled, I have reason to believe that you have something that we call Potential."
"Potential for what?" Yashiro said, not quite sure about what was going on and whether what she was saying was for real.
"The Potential to summon a Persona," Akihiko said. "It's what Mitsuru used to help heal up your friend, Kanashi."
Yashiro raised an eyebrow at that. At this point, he was almost sure that whatever this Persona thing was… it was powerful and something that he could use for his own purposes. And yet, there was something about it that carried a certain heaviness to it; something darker than just the use of magic and the wielding of immense power. Of course, he wasn't completely sure about this whole thing, but it wouldn't hurt to at least humour this power that they called 'Persona', if it was a power. "What is a Persona?" Yashiro asked.
Mitsuru stayed her calm façade, however she was actually thinking about how fast Yashiro had gotten to that question. She was almost sure that he wouldn't have even considered the possibility of a Persona being real. Either he was too trusting, delusional or humouring them for the moment. "The Persona is a facet of your own personality, an off-shoot that can be summoned to help you do things and protect yourself."
Yashiro chuckled. It was almost like the real definition, except with a little magic sprinkled on top. He had seen Mitsuru heal Kanashi with his very own eyes, so he couldn't really deny that a Persona couldn't be real. And he certainly wasn't going to go into denial over something like that. That would just be silly. It wasn't as if Akihiko or Mitsuru had any reason to lie to him about this Persona thing either… it was far-fetched as it was.
"I see… so I guess we all have Persona, but only a few can summon them?" Yashiro asked.
"Yes, that is the case," Mitsuru nodded. "Now, back to what we spoke of before, I have reason to believe that you and Kanashi have the power to summon a Persona. Would you know of a phenomenon called the Dark Hour?"
"Dark Hour, like… at midnight?" Yashiro asked with a sceptical expression. And here he thought that he was the only one that knew about this thing that they called the Dark Hour. But he was pretty sure it was gone, because it disappeared last year…
"So you know about it?" Akihiko said with an almost incredulous tone. He couldn't really believe that he didn't see that Yashiro actually knew about the Dark Hour. Had he been ignorant? And even more than that, what could have possibly happened to Yashiro to let him be aware of the Dark Hour? There were many unanswered questions at this point and it was starting to get Akihiko a bit agitated more than anything else.
"Yeah, sky turns green, blood, yellow moon and the coffins?" Yashiro shrugged as he listed off the main features of the Dark Hour on his fingers.
"Yes. That is the Dark Hour. Those who have continual access to the Dark Hour have the potential to summon a Persona, and although we could not test to see if you had experienced the Dark Hour, I think this should be sufficient information," Mitsuru explained. "Now, one last thing we should explain…"
"What's that?" Yashiro asked.
"You may be wondering why almost everyone that is a friend of Minato's is staying there…" Mitsuru began. "You see, that is because the members that stay at that dorm are all able to summon Persona, and Minato to an even greater degree. That is, except Nyx. She is a special case," she explained.
"Those who can summon Persona in this area have fought to eradicate the Dark Hour and have fought against beings called Shadows, the cause of apathy syndrome in that earlier year," Mitsuru said. "And there is always a chance of them coming back."
"They can all summon Persona?" Yashiro repeated to himself quietly. Almost everyone there could summon one?
"Yes. And we are saying, that if would like, you could join them… this is completely optional however. Fighting against Shadows is a dangerous task," Mitsuru sighed.
"…Honestly, I'd rather not," Yashiro replied. "But I'm still a little more interested in Persona…"
Mitsuru looked towards Akihiko with a stern expression before he picked up an Evoker and pointed the muzzle to Yasihro's forehead.
Yashiro pulled back as he realized what that Evoker looked like, sweating bullets as he eyed the gun. "W-What are you doing!?" Yashiro yelled.
"If you point this little thing towards your head and pull the trigger, you could force out a Persona," Akihiko explained as he pointed the tip of the Evoker under his chin and looked about to pull the trigger. However, he didn't and threw the Evoker to Yashiro.
Yashiro caught the gun, eyeing the silver metal that made up the gun and the designs on it. "Are you sure this is… safe?" he gulped, his heart pounding painfully fast as he stared down the barrel of the gun. He wasn't completely sure about this whole thing. It was a gun after all! Possibly used for gun-like purposes and you were supposed to summon a Persona like that? It didn't seem all that worth it.
"Yes," Mitsuru nodded.
Yashiro tried to steel himself and pointed the Evoker to his temple. They said it was safe, so he wouldn't die from using it, right? He squeezed his eyes shut and felt the cold metal against his skin trembling as he tried to pull the trigger.
…
Click.
"Huh?" Yashiro said as he pulled the Evoker away from his head.
"Well… it's difficult to summon a Persona in the real world," Mitsuru smiled slightly. "Under real stress, the process becomes much easier."
"I-I see…" Yashiro breathed out a sigh of relief. At least, if nothing else, it proved that the Evoker really wasn't going to kill him if he used it. "Hey, you hear that?" he said as he looked towards Kanashi.
Kanashi was starting to stir, and he groaned as he tried to pull himself into consciousness. Again, harsh light filled his vision. It was different to the alley he was in before, so where the hell was he? He looked around and sat up, looking around. Was it the dorm?
Wait!
He was in a fight with that razor using douche! That's right!
"Hey! Why am I here and who brought me over here!?" Kanashi asked quickly as he saw who was next to him. "It was you guys wasn't it?" he growled slightly as he eyed the three teens around him.
"Y-Yeah but…" Yashiro started, however he was quickly cut off by Kanashi once more.
"Why!? I was doing fine by myself…" Kanashi trailed off as he started to recollect the pieces of his memory, an awkward smile starting to form as he thought about what had happened a few minutes ago. "Uh… yeah…" he mumbled and went quiet, sitting back down on the couch.
Yashiro merely deadpanned at Kanashi. He really didn't want to apologize for his outburst or thank them? Well, that was some attitude if he had seen any. "Anyways…" Yashiro sighed as he tried to disperse the situation. "Are you okay?" he asked with a concerned tone.
"Yeah, I'm completely fine!" Kanashi said proudly.
"That's good," Mitsuru sighed. "I have some things to talk to you about…"
Kanashi looked over at Mitsuru and nodded slightly. Like Nyx, she seemed to carry herself in a dignified manner that exuded an obscene amount of command over the people around them. "What about?"
"You see, we were discussing about whether you have the potential to summon a Persona which is a part of your personality that you can summon to help protect yourself under extreme stress and situations," Mitsuru explained succinctly. "Do you know about the phenomenon that once occurred at midnight?"
"Yeah, but it kinda disappeared last year," Kanashi replied, almost as if he was disappointed by its disappearance. "It was kinda fun to hang around in when it happened," he sighed.
Akihiko and Mitsuru's eyes widened. He liked the Dark Hour? Since when was there anyone that could possibly like the Dark Hour when it was the same time that ruined so many people's lives and brought the world ending Shadows about? Did it help him in some way?
Mitsuru was the first to recover from that train of thought and continued with, "Yes, that which we call the Dark Hour…"
"Lame," Kanashi mumbled under his breath. Thankfully neither of the seniors heard it and Mitsuru merely continued on with her explanations.
"This is as close as we can get in respect to proof of your potential. This is what we use to summon a Persona," Mitsuru nodded at Akihiko.
Akihiko threw another of the silver guns to Kanashi, who caught it. "So what? We gotta point this to our head or something?" he asked as he dangled the gun from his pointer finger. "And shoot the fake gun?"
"Yeah, that's it," Akihiko said. "Yashiro managed to do it, so yeah."
"Oh really?" Kanashi chuckled. "Must be easy as shit then!" he smirked.
He quickly drew the Evoker to his temple and pulled the trigger quickly with no fear whatsoever. If they could all do it, he could too.
Except…
Click.
"The fuck? It's not working," Kanashi sighed as he threw the gun to the ground and stomped on it several times. Thankfully, due to the Evoker's durable nature it didn't break under the pressure. "Stupid piece of crap. So sad son, you don't even have a warranty!" he shouted.
Akihiko and Mitsuru were both trying their best not to cringe at the sight, more so Mitsuru than anyone else. She had never seen anyone treat a summoning of a Persona like such a trivial matter before. Not even Minato was that calm about it.
"Geez, what's all the racket!?" an irritated voice came down from the stairs. Minato's eyes widened as he saw Kanashi stomping on an Evoker.
What the hell was happening?
AN: Hey. More happening. Plz box meh yo thoughts, I'd appreciate it.
Imma see you guys later.
Guest: Gah, I didn't see this before.
Well, what there is of Kanashi remains to be seen.
Yashiro is. I honestly wasn't going to include another OC before, but I thought it would be funny.
It does, doesn't it?
Hah, thanks. Yeah, that's why I changed to third person too.
Sure will.
Eivexst: Well, you saw what happened.
Because they are, and this is only the first of some major conflicts I'm going through. Haha.
Anakin: I suck at foreshadowing, it's official. Ah, well, that is a mystery (or not so mystery) for later. And no, she won't, but she'll be fighting against something even WORSE later on. Hah, making it sound like an anime or episodic thing or something.
Yoshikunitsu: Really? Why have I not heard of this!? I see…
Yeah, secrets are meant to be kept, until they are ready to be told about.
I will.
Raidou: Episode now? Well, whatevs. Mmhm, I wonder too. Hope you'll stick around for it.
Nights: Yawp. It happened. And he snapped.
Yeah. And yet, no summonings until later. How sad.
Darkness is falling… Sorry, listening to 'Darkness' as in Erebus fight, so yah. Yes, he would've.
Sure will.
Decode: Well, we found out plenty of things in this chapter, ne? Persona summoning won't happen until later however.
Hah, it wasn't THAT amazing. They basically just punched them in the faces and made them double over. Nothing that special.
Thanks.
