As Minato walked down as he heard some very loud shouting coming from the lower level of the dorm. It wasn't usually that noisy, even if it was Junpei groaning about how badly he was doing on a game of some sort. And that happened a lot unfortunately, so Minato was quite used to it all. Not to mention, whoever it was sounded pretty determined or maybe even angry. He was also wondering what could have possibly elicited that kind of reaction from… well, anyone really.
But he certainly didn't expect to find Kanashi stomping on an Evoker of all things, and calling stuff out about them having no warranty. Well of course they didn't! It was just something that imitated a bullet from a gun and caused someone stress in order to recreate the conditions of summoning a Persona.
Speaking of which, why was Kanashi with an Evoker anyways? "Geez, what's all the racket!?" Minato asked with an irritated voice. "Why the hell is Kanashi with an Evoker? Why are the seniors here? And why isn't Yashiro reacting to all of it?" he said with a flustered tone, pointing accusingly at each of the people in the lounge as he rapid-fired the questions.
"Minato… you should know as well as I do why anyone would be with an Evoker," Mitsuru said smoothly, rubbing her temples as she tried to clear the scene of Kanashi stomping on the Evoker from her head. Thankfully for her, he had stopped, but the scene was still replaying over and over again in her mind. There was something about it that seriously ticked her off, not that she would ever admit it out loud.
"A-Are you serious?" Minato said with widened eyes as he looked over Yashiro and Kanashi. Those two actually had the capacity to wield Persona? Not only that…
But they actually considered joining into Mitsuru's effort to suppress more Shadows and their power?
…what kind of crazy people were they?
"I am," Yashiro sighed as he kept his gaze on the Evoker in his hand. "I wonder if I can get these in revolver style… That would be pretty awesome," Yashiro thought as he looked absent-mindedly into the air and at the ceiling.
"Please tell me that you don't think that this is some kind of game," Minato gritted his teeth as he thought about what he had to go through in order to get rid of the Dark Hour and all of the Shadows that he fought. The Ichor that he had to cut through, the blood that was spilt and the sweat that was shed immediately came flooding into his mind.
As strong as he was he would never try to remember all the struggles that he had endured as he fought to get rid of the Dark Hour, and by extension, Nyx.
"Why would I think it's a game?" Yashiro said with a flat tone. "I know it's not," he mumbled as he stared the ground down with a blank expression.
"It's not a game to me!" Kanashi said indignantly as he finally stopped tormenting the Evoker that he was stepping on before.
"…you know that by joining up with our group, you're going to soon get targeted by more goons when you're out?" Minato questioned further. He would've soon forced them away from SEES if they didn't get into trouble. He was hoping to try and scare them off from the prospect.
However…
"Yeah," Yashiro answered near instantly, with still no change in his blank expression. Or perhaps his brow was furrowed and nobody knew because of that hat of his. "But that's not really something I care about," he said, a quietly burning determination behind the gaze that he pointed at Minato.
"Fuck that! Those ass-ass-ins are going to get what's coming to them and no amount of scaring off is going to stop me from breaking every limb in that bastard's body until there's nothing left of him!" Kanashi smirked as he smashed his fist into his waiting palm, a strong 'smack' sounding when they collided.
Minato seemed unfazed by Kanashi's words and he was beginning to stare down with Kanashi. "How are you going to do that?" he asked. Normally a smirk would've come on if Minato was in any normal mood, but once he had realized what was actually happening and what his two newest friends were attempting to do, his more casual demeanour had completely changed. Now, there was only a dark, blank look in his furrowed gaze.
"Smash them to pieces of course! I'm not helpless, and anyone who says I am gets a beat down, courtesy of my fist smashing into that sorry fuck's face," Kanashi snarled.
Yashiro had been observant of Kanashi's anger, finding that when he referred to the hypothetical person that would be assaulted, he seemed much more heated than he had ever seen him before. "Kanashi, why?" Yashiro asked with as calm a tone as possible.
"Because, people who betray others, and are backstabbers… They should get what they deserve," Kanashi growled, his fists turning white as he clenched them tightly.
"…you don't need to worry about me Minato. I just really wanted to help, and that's it," Yashiro sighed. "If it means that I'm going to get hurt by trying, I won't mind."
Minato looked between the two of them, biting his lip. Whatever these two had been through or whatever had changed them to make them like this had obviously hit them hard. They were so different from any other person that Minato had encountered, sans SEES. Eventually Minato sighed. He wasn't really sure what he could do to divert the situation anymore. "Look guys, I'm just going to be honest with you all for a minute…"
"I just really don't want you guys to get involved. No offense Mitsuru," Minato said, sending a soft look to the addressed. "It's dangerous, but I assume someone would have said as much at this point. I literally died to this cause already, so I know what could happen. I don't want the same to happen to you."
"I appreciate the concern… but I'll be okay," Yashiro tried to reassure. "But wait, what was that about you dying?"
All the people who knew about it flinched, however, Minato kept a stiff expression as he looked over both Kanashi and Yashiro. Yashiro had a blank expression like always, however Kanashi had a sceptical expression. And who could blame either of them? What Minato had just blurted out in his sentence made no sense to them and it seemed incredibly far-fetched.
"Like I said. I died and I came back to life. Problem?" Minato narrowed his gaze. Coldness was emanating from him in droves even the normally composed Yashiro flinched from the atmosphere that he gave off. "Long story short, our group SEES fought to get rid of the Dark Hour. Nyx, whom you all know, was also going to end the world at the same time. To seal her, I died, but now I'm back because I'm tricky and clever like that."
"Well now, I don't know whether this will change anything but think it over a bit more before you damn yourself or something," Minato spat before turning heel. He was becoming increasingly bitter as he talked about the Dark Hour and what he had to do. Minato learned his lesson, that was for sure, but that didn't mean that it sat well with him. Not at all in fact.
That was the reason why he was back in the human world after all.
"Wait, Minato," Yashiro said as Minato was about to take the steps back up to his room. "I'll tell you why I'm joining… I don't know whether this will change what you think, but…"
Minato sighed and turned back to face the scene after a few moments of deliberation. "Fine, enlighten me, won't you?" he said almost as if he didn't believe that what he would say would change what he thought.
"I'm only joining up with this… so that I can give you help if you need it, and to help keep you guys safe. So maybe I'm not exactly joining, but I'll have a Persona to help you if you need it," Yashiro smiled slightly.
Minato stayed quiet as he considered Yashiro's motives.
…well, he guessed that it was better than what he considered first at least.
But Kanashi he really wasn't sure about. He was already involved in the whole thing after all. Speaking of which, didn't he say something about being attacked by an assassin. "I see…" Minato finally said after a few moments of thinking. "Well now, I'm just wondering something now that I've remembered it."
"What's that?" Akihiko asked.
"Didn't Kanashi say something about being attacked by an assassin already?" Minato asked with a slightly worried expression.
"Yes. That is why the two of us are here, and why Yashiro and Kanashi are here," Mitsuru said. "He had gotten injured badly from his encounter with that assassin, and because of that, we brought him here to let him rest for a while until my Persona spells finally worked their magic and healed him."
"H-Hey wait," Kanashi said with a worried expression, stopping the group and making them turn to him with faces of concern and partial curiosity.
"What the hell happened to my bike!? I had it parked earlier, where'd it go, did you leave it there, what did you do!?" Kanashi rapid-fired the questions, only just slow enough that the people around him could understand what he was saying.
"You see…" Mitsuru started but was cut off by Kanashi sharply.
"What the hell did you do to my bike you monsters!?" Kanashi yelled.
Yashiro attempted to facepalm, however he seemed to remember that he was wearing a cap and that it would be impossible to do so. So he settled on his usual poker face. "Calm down Kanashi, don't worry about it. We managed to bring it over here while you were un-"
Yashiro stopped himself as Kanashi bolted outside of the dorm, leaving the doors wide open for everyone in the lobby to see. And what they saw…
Kanashi hugged his motorcycle as if he had just found a long-lost friend.
"Why is he getting so emotional over a bike?" Minato thought aloud.
"A man can only be made so with a bike! This thing's state of the art!" Kanashi yelled back.
Mitsuru was sceptical about the whole scene, while Yashiro and Akihiko were left to wonder about how strange the spectacle.
However, there was another thing that Mitsuru was thinking. He certainly showed a large amount of dedication to his motorcycle. She briefly wondered however, whether that much dedication was good for his health.
…she doubted it.
AN: I really don't have much to say nowadays, except that this chapter was difficult to write. I'm still not sure about it in fact. Welp, imma se you guys later and plz box me yo thoughts.
Decode: Yeah, sorry about that. (not)
Mmhm! It's VERY difficult, but they'll get there, not to worry.
I know, EVERYONE wants me to reveal what they are.
Thanks.
Eivexst: That's just because Kanashi didn't want to get shown up, and because Yashiro was able to do it. Just a matter of his pride. If he couldn't do it, he probably wouldn't have forgiven himself.
Yeah, that was… not my idea, but it worked.
Raidou: You wonder do you? Few more chapters then. (no, I'm not sorry)
Nights: Yeah, as if.
Mmhm. And yeah, EVERYONE'S asking that question. Haha, you funny, but I don't think so.
Thanks. I will.
Yoshikunitsu: He will… when he's needed. I know.
And I'm just sitting back here having fun (torturing)x *cough* watching you guys to try and to figure it out.
I will.
