Georgia followed him out on the porch and gaped at the size of the herd. For a second, she stood in stunned silence and Daryl watched in the same silence, worrying that it would be the thing to break her. But then, she shook her head and sighed, "Well, what's your orders, captain?"

"Fight or flight. We fight as many as we kin, don' let 'em near the house. They get too close, I want ya an DJ out the back 'fore we get surrounded," Daryl ordered.

"Flight? Rick isn't back," Lori cried out.

"Ya an yer boy or him. Ain't a choice, lady."

"Go up and get Carl ready," Georgia ordered. Lori nodded and raced inside. "Herschel, you do have more guns, right?"

"Jimmy, go get Beth ready to leave. Maggie, get everything we have." He loaded his shotgun as he spoke.

"Carol, can you stay with DJ for now?" Georgia asked. "If we have to flee, I'll be with him but I don't want him out here for the fight."

"Me neither. Keep him in long as ya kin."

"Carl's gone!" Georgia sighed at Lori's exclamation.

"What the fuck do you mean, Carl's gone?" she cried out.

"Keep yer voice low, Georgia Rayne," Daryl hissed.

"You weren't watching your son?" Georgia continued with a lower tone.

"He was upstairs! He was supposed to be in bed!"

"Yeah, he's supposed to be a lot of things that he isn't," Georgia argued. "When we make it out of this, you need to take a hard lesson in teaching your boy respect and obedience!"

"Now ain't the time, Georgia. Lori, look again. Might be with Rick. Keep searchin' fer him. Georgia, DJ ready?"

"Of course he is." Her chocolate eyes narrowed dangerously at Lori.

"Good. Cause I get the feelin' this farm ain't standin' through this one. That herd'll rip it to pieces. Ya ready to go to war?"

"Always."

The breaking point was when the barn went up in flames. Everything seemed to fall to hell and back when the barn went up in flames. Daryl separated from her and she joined Jimmy in the RV while DJ waited with Carol. It was Jimmy driving while she shot out the back window. They were parked outside of the barn, they were at the destination. They were ready to go.

"We're saving people, Georgia!" Jimmy cried out as he pulled up and it was the last laugh that ever escaped from him. The herd surrounded them quickly and the door broke faster than she believed it could.

"Get out the back window!" he screamed. "Go! I got them!"

"Jimmy, I can't…" The reaching grasps grabbed at Jimmy's legs, pulling his feet out from under him.

"Go!" He screamed in agony. "I'm gone! Go! Please go!"

She raced towards the back window and climbed the bed in the back as the walkers ripped apart the young boy, the young farmhand she hadn't spared a second thought to until she climbed into the RV with him. She kicked at the back window's fragile metal frame, kicking it out and attracting the attention of the walkers who were climbing over the pack munching on poor Jimmy.

The first walker stumbled towards her and she kicked harder at the window, hearing the satisfying crunch and break of the metal under her boot. But not before she felt the iron grasp on her ankle.

Georgia managed to catch Rick, Herschel, and Carl as they raced down the dirt drive. She slid into the back seat and slammed the door hard. Rick pressed the accelerator to the floor. Herschel asked, "You alright?"

"Of course I am. Where's DJ?"

"He was with Carol and Beth. I don't know where he is now. We're headed to the highway."

"Good, they'll head there." Georgia rested her head against the window and grimaced.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Rick demanded in the rearview mirror.

"Of course I am. I twisted my ankle. I just need to get back to my son. I need to see DJ. I have to be with DJ," Georgia repeated.

"Get some sleep," Herschel ordered. "We'll be at the highway 'fore too long. Get some sleep and we'll wake you up when we get there. You're sure you're alright?"

Georgia laughed weakly and replied, "Are any of us? I just need to be with my boy. Daryl will be with him. I just need to get back to my family."

She rested her head against the window and closed her eyes.

At the highway, while Carl and Rick broke down, Georgia slid out of the car slowly and made her way to an abandoned car. She climbed up on the hood and reclined against the windshield. She murmured, "I have faith. They aren't dead. I would know if they were dead."

She closed her eyes and the rumble of Daryl's motorcycle an hour later was the first thing she responded too. She sat up quickly and her eyes traced across him and Carol. The blue truck was close behind and she could see DJ's head peeking up over the dashboard. Before it had pulled to a stop, she was sliding off the hood and stumbling forward. Rick's eyes traced her suspiciously before turning to Lori's head in the truck as well. DJ was the first out, his feet hitting the ground just as T Dogg threw the truck into park. He was in his mom's arms in a moment and she hid the grimace as he slammed into her sore side.

"You're alive, Mom," DJ sobbed.

"Of course I am. You didn't think I'd ever leave you without a goodbye, did you?" she murmured tiredly as Daryl rushed over.

"Thank God ya'll are alright. Weren' sure ya made it out okay. Are ya both okay?"

"He's fine," Georgia said confidently. "Not a hair on his head harmed. Isn't that right, sweetheart?"

DJ nodded and sobbed harder into her. She motioned down towards him and Daryl moved closer to rake his fingers through the boy's hair.

"C'mon now, DJ. Me an yer momma are fine. Right as rain. Ain't that right, Georgia?"

"Everything's going to be okay, DJ. We're all alive."

DJ tightened his hold on her and Georgia gasped. Daryl's eyes narrowed. He repeated, "Right as rain, huh, Georgia Rayne?"

"Yep. My two boys are perfectly safe," she evaded. "DJ, I know you're upset, but I want you to go check on Carol, okay? I want you to see if she's right as rain."

DJ released his mom and protested, "But she was with Daryl."

"Please, sweetheart. Go check on her for your mom's sake. I'll be right here when you get back, okay? I promise. Right here."

DJ nodded and walked away slowly, not turning to face Carol for a few moments, walking backwards until he had to turn to face Carol. As soon as he turned around, Daryl hissed, "Georgia, what's wrong?"

"We need to regroup, we need to get going, and then we're going to talk, okay?"

"Georgia…."

"Now isn't the time, Daryl. DJ needs us both right now. Then, we'll talk wherever we stop tonight."

"Why do I feel like I ain't gonna like any talk we have?"

She smiled weakly at him and retorted, "Because you don't like talking."

"Only cause you only ever have bad things to say to me."

"Well, try not to worry so much. I'm not ever leaving you again without saying goodbye first. I promise. DJ and I will ride with Glenn and Maggie. Keep Carol with you on the bike."

"Ya kin…"

"No, I can't." When he stared at her with worry in his eyes, she laughed and teased, "Because I need to be with DJ. I'm not going to die while I'm out of your sight, Daryl. I'll be okay for a bit."

"Georgia, are ya…..are ya…." Daryl couldn't find it in himself to finish the question and Georgia couldn't find it in herself to answer. Instead, she leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek. Daryl let her get in the car with Glenn and Maggie. In the car, DJ leaned against her and she closed her eyes again. They stopped twice and Daryl waited each time for Georgia to get out of the car, but she didn't. She stayed in the car. In the chaos, nobody questioned it as anything other than being tired. Daryl excused her each time, saying that she was exhausted. She hadn't slept well since Dale's death. Then, when they were preparing to make camp and she was gathering firewood, he sent DJ over to sit with Carol and Lori and he went after her.
