There was a boy named, but for now he is 'Tsume.'
Tsume always wore long sleeved shirts, even when it was warm. Strangely enough. He wore them because he knew that way no-one would be able to see the jagged scar on his left arm. Even though it had healed internally, and no pain afflicted it anymore, he still felt it much like a lingering regret in physical form.
It never fully left his mind, and it plagued him endlessly. Whether it was by simple torment or a haunting of some sort, Tsume hurt. He didn't cry. He just hurt, and he kept it within.
That wound of his he had gotten from a fight, and not just any fight.
He had been in a fist fight with someone that had been threatening his only friend.
Tsume smiled mirthfully as he thought about it. He never really smiled before, and now that he did it still never really felt like he was smiling at all. The corners of his lips may have been upturned, but his eyes didn't have that shine to them that others usually did when they smiled.
He only smiled around his friend, because his friend never really smiled either. He might've been blank, but she was depressed all the time. So he always tried to smile around her.
He remembered that he tried to throw a punch at the guy, but after some bruises on both sides and a while, that guy… Yeah, he pulled out a knife.
Tsume wasn't prepared for it, and around his shoulder he was slashed deep, right into the muscle.
He tried to fight back regardless for his friend to be safe, but he was knocked out and he lost. Tsume couldn't fight with an injured arm or with a loss of blood. Down for the count, and he couldn't get back up after ten.
Tsume was patched up later that evening, but by the time he had woken up his friend was gone.
He bit his lip. She was gone forever, and it was his fault. He tried to protect her, but it just didn't work. Slit wrist under running water and she slipped away.
She thought that it was her fault that Tsume had gotten hurt, and she couldn't stand the thought of it. She thought that it would have been better if she wasn't there. Tsume couldn't get hurt because of her, and now he never could.
What did he do wrong?
In his ear buds, he heard a song come on. He looked around, before getting moving again. He couldn't sing at all, but he could hum it.
"Heaven's waiting for you, just close your eyes and say goodbye…"
…
"…Sweet sleep my dark angel, deliver us from sorrow's hold."
Kanashi whistled along to the tune in his earphones. He actually really couldn't sing for shit, and his whistling wasn't that much better. But he liked that song. It was pretty awesome in his opinion. And yet for that opinion he would beat up anyone that stood against it.
…jokes. He wasn't that cruel. People could like whatever music they wanted to like.
"Kanashi, can you stop? Your whistling's getting really annoying," Yashiro deadpanned at him.
"But I just got attacked last night! Can't I do what I want for a little bit?" Kanashi shot back.
"You got attacked last night? Again? By who?" Yashiro asked.
"Oh. Well, I mean, one of these other guys that I was hanging around with, assumed he was friendly and all," Kanashi began. "Invited me to go to the movies at about midnight, next thing I know there, he's babbling on and on about how my friends are probably gonna stab me in the back."
"He was all like: you know, nowadays even friends need to be careful of each other, especially the rich kids," Kanashi said. "And then I laughed and no sold it like this: no kidding, but some rich kids can easily afford a pistol which kills way quicker than a knife. Oh yeah, what's your age? I'm seventeen by the way."
Yashiro wondered what the last question had to do with anything, but he shrugged it off. It was just Kanashi being Kanashi, right? "Then, what happened after that?" he asked.
"Well, the dude sounded like a complete psycho, and I swear that I saw a knife in his pocket or something," Kanashi nodded to himself. "So, I beat him to a bloody pulp so that he wouldn't get me first!"
Yashiro deadpanned at Kanashi. "Great way of handling the situation there Kanashi. Great way," he nodded.
"Oh thanks! I thought it was good too!" Kanashi grinned wolfishly.
"I was being sarcastic, asshole," Yashiro groaned as he attempted to facepalm.
"I know! I thought it was good too!" Kanashi exclaimed.
"You're a bastard, you know that?" Yashiro glared. "Even I know that you don't just randomly beat people up on the streets, even if they have a knife in their pocket!"
"Aw thanks for the compliment, you're a great friend Yashiro," Kanashi laughed.
"Uhuh," Yashiro muttered.
"Fuck you too bro," Kanashi smirked.
"Yeah, yeah, fuck you," Yashiro replied. "I'm going."
After Yashiro left, Nyx came down from the stairs, interested in Kanashi and Yashiro's back and forth. However, what Nyx saw on Kanashi's face was not a smirk like she had seen before. It was a frown. And underneath it, stirring rage. His eyes had murderous intent, and his teeth were bared.
"Whatcha doing here?" Kanashi asked, hearing Nyx's steps.
"I heard your conversation with Yashiro. Do you normally swear at each other like you just did a few moments ago?" Nyx asked, fixing her calculating gaze on Kanashi's stern one.
"Yeah, we do. To put it like he does now that I've been getting to know him better," Kanashi said, "We're like cowboys from hell, except we smash skulls between our bro-fists."
Nyx blinked. She was going to have to ask Minato what bro-fists were later. "I see," Nyx nodded. "So your words and actions are normally that raucous between the two of you."
"Yeah," Kanashi nodded.
"Why do you have that angered expression on your face?" Nyx asked bluntly, not at all fazed by the killing intent that was rolling off from Kanashi in waves.
"None. Of. Your. Business," Kanashi growled.
Nyx sighed. A different approach was needed apparently. "Kanashi, I need to explain something to you," she said, her gaze intent on Kanashi's.
"Oh, like how much you just love me?" Kanashi smirked.
Nyx tried to calm her breath. He was just teasing her. Remember it. "No. Rather about the time that I knocked you unconscious."
"What about it? Was it the time that you finally rationalised your undying love and loyalty to this guy?" he snickered, pointing his thumb to himself, pride and conceit starting to leak off Kanashi.
Nyx was about to strike down that statement, but she soon realised that he wasn't going to stop and that he wouldn't even mean something like that on purpose. "Whatever your deluded mind wants to think, but I wanted to tell you that me, felling you unconscious wasn't an act on your pride."
"Oh really?" he said, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes. I did not fell you unconscious because I wanted to humiliate you. I only did it because everyone else was starting to get annoyed," Nyx explained.
"Huh," Kanashi chuckled.
Nyx gazed at Kanashi steadily. "What?" she asked bluntly.
"I don't believe you," Kanashi said, staring down Nyx with a cold glare.
"Why?" Nyx said with no surprise in her tone.
"I don't trust anyone. Not even you, Yashiro or Minato," Kanashi spat. "Anyone, at any time, can stab you in the back. Stab you right in the heart. Even 'friends'," he growled, curling his hand into a bony fist. "So… I have no reason to believe whatever that you're saying to be true."
"Hmph. I see," Nyx huffed. "I knew this was a pointless exercise," she shook her head before walking off.
Kanashi gazed at her retreating back before shaking his head. He looked down at his fist and opened it, finding small dabs of blood on his palm. "Fuck trust, and fuck everyone else," he growled.
…
Taka thought silently about the green night and what he just did to that 'friend' of his. He didn't take it as anything wrong. After all, they had wronged him too.
He thought that from then on, there were probably gonna be other people, considering what the people he had been fighting said: That there were lots more that were looking for him. And he could act like everything was just fine during the day, but at night more were going to come and get him back for whatever he did. Which was the thing. He couldn't remember ever doing anything wrong to them.
That was what made him angry.
If they came at night like they did that time that meant that it was possible… to get them back like the last time! Like what had just happened. Perfect.
In the morning, everything was gonna be sore as shit and nothing was going to get him if he was gone. It was just so well placed.
The next night, like he had predicted, it happened again. However…
Taka smirked as he threw back the door open to the coffin which his 'friend' was contained in. He stared him down and without flinching, he caved his fist into his stomach. Multiple times.
Next, his knee came into the same, repeatedly bruised area. Taka smirked. He couldn't feel anything now, but after all of what he was going to do was over, he'd feel everything at the same time. That was what happened to the bastard he did it to before. He couldn't even go to school the next morning because every step that he took hurt like fuck.
But however badly Taka hurt someone, he would never kill them. That was just something he couldn't do. Besides, giving them the hurt like he did was pretty cruel too. Killing someone wasn't on his to do list.
With a final punch, Taka slammed the guy's body back into the casket and the coffin lid shut.
AN: And so… I'm sorry for my haphazard updating habits. They don't come out well in the holidays. Plz box me yo thoughts and imma see ya guys later.
Nights: Indeed.
It will be epic, the counterattack!
Just a little. Just some tension.
Sure will.
Pyro: Yeah, I thought it was funny too. I'm pretty surprised at how much love the guy's getting.
amir26r: Thanks. Well, I try dude. I certainly try.
Yoshikunitsu: Nope! Because Minato and Junpei are good friends now and they understand each other!
Yup, that'll be interesting. Well, Nyx may take a bit of a back seat, but she'll probably get involved somehow, considering her luck so far.
Thanks, and I will.
Raidou: Yeah, a lot of people seemed to like that…
It probably will, if I do this right.
Well, considering my update speed…
Anakin: Haha, later.
Q/A SECTION
(Question 1) Kanashi: Can you tell me how to trash talk like a boss like you? Please?
Kanashi: Alright bro, first of all you pay me roundabout 50000 yen a week, and then I'll teach ya! And when I'm done training ya, even rocks will melt by the thunderous words that'll carve freaking holes in peoples' heads.
Hoshiro: (50000 yen is somewhere about $5000. Good luck with that.)
