Chapter 8 - Winter Illumination
The weather had been very cold this winter. Temperatures were single digit throughout the day. I don't enjoy the coldness because cold weather makes me sick. I preferred to stay indoor and feel the warmth from the heater or chimney, decorating the house and many other things except going out.
Despite the chilling weather, I do enjoy christmas lighting. Towns and cities were decorated with lights and LEDs. And for today, the illumination will be lit.
Mura-kun and I met at the station at around 5pm. We walked to the cafe to have late tea/early dinner. The waitress remembered us and repeated the same order as we asked for last time. I sat beside Atsushi and he too, snuggled me.
"Atsushi, have you seen the decorations in this place? It really is pretty." I compliment the shop to put extra effort for the Christmas celebrations. Mura-kun however, didn't seemed to understand why all the decorations, "I.. I prefer if they decorated with edible candy cane..." I laughed at this.
After the meal, we walked around the garden that was heavily decorated with lights. Atsushi held my hands as we walked. His big palm felt very warm against mine. We saw this big Christmas tree in the middle of the garden. There were Christmas carols being sung just nearby the tree. The lighting of the tree was about to begin.
"And now we shall countdown for illumination!" The MC spoke and everyone cheered, including us. "10!" "9!" As the number descended, my excitement increased. I always had waited for the illumination.
"2!" "1!"
The brightest light lit the Christmas tree, followed by couple of fireworks. The tree was lit in white coloured lights, some flashed every milliseconds and some changed colours. It was the prettiest tree of them all.
"Beautiful..." said Atsushi.
I nodded at his words. Then I felt a peck on my cheek and turned to him, slightly shocked.
"...but you are more beautiful than all of these..." Mura-kun turned around, said "..Let's go.. I'm hungry..." I quickly tagged behind him, unable to not feel slight embarrassment.
