May: This is already the second week of school and sorry for the long wait. And this might be the last entry that I have to do for a long while.

Atem: Why? Are you leaving us already?

May: Nope. I have to do alot of things...

Yugi: Things like...

Ryou: Studying and projects and such.

Yugi: Studying?

Ryou: What you didn't know what study is?

Yugi: No. I always do it at home...before playing Duel Monsters.

Atem: I agree. I always watch over him.

Bakura: You say that just because you pity the small guy.

Yugi: Stop calling me small!

Bakura: Well...what are you?

May: Bakura stop. Anyway, Ryou was right. I have to do alot of things.

Yugi: Thanks. Anyway, please comment and review.

May: Yeah, I greatly appreciate it.

Chapter 15

Evening had set in the whole land of Egypt and you would think that all of the Egyptians were already asleep...you're wrong. In the royal palace in the capital, there saved three who weren't affected by the moon god's spell. Not at all. After making sure that the whole palace was already asleep, except the guards on duty, the three teenagers went out of their rooms...to scare any unsuspecting persons or servants who were secretly making love in the garden or in the deserted hallways of the palace.

In the guests chambers were Malik and his twin Marik along with Bakura were staying, they were still awake, their voices low so that they wouldn't attract any suspicious ears of the guards who usually roamed the grounds.

Going back to the dinner earlier...

Malik reclined in of the cushions in his and his twin's room. He then looked at Bakura who was sitting opposite him, in another couch.

"Awhile ago at dinner...why did Atemu asked you what our usual activity was at night. Does she know?" he asked, uncertain.

Bakura shook his head, his white hair bouncing, "I don't know...but it seems strange. She would never ask unless she knew it already and was confirming it."

"She's quite different from her brother." Marik commented, standing in front of the opened wardrobe, his back to them.

"But still...she wouldn't know...unless she sneaks out of her room and spies on us." Malik suggested.

Bakura shook his head, "She wouldn't sneak out of her rooms...she knew better."

"Yeah, and she was quite valuable to anyone...being the last heir to the throne and the only Princess of Egypt." Marik told them, rummaging inside the wardrobe.

Malik pondered over this, sure the Princess wouldn't come out of her chambers at night, endangering herself...but it is quite strange. Being six, she has the tendency to become a little bit curious about the things around her.

"Are we even making such a ruckus that she already had known about it?" Malik asked the two.

"Nope. The royal chambers were located at the floor above ours." Bakura told him, "And the walls of the palace are quite thick."

"So?..."

"So they wouldn't hear us. Possibly her. She is asleep at this rate." Marik confirmed, turning to them, holding out three hoods.

Malik had completely forgot about what they were talking about when he saw what his twin was holding.

"What's that?"

"A hood." Marik then tossed it to him, then toss the other to Bakura who was already about to stand up.

"What are these for?" Malik asked, "Are we going to go out the palace secretly?"

"That was the royals to do." Marik replied, with a roll of his eyes.

"Then what are we going to with this?"

"Malik...Malik..." Bakura chanted, "Have you forgotten what we usually do at night?" he asked.

"No..."

"Then why are you asking?"

"I was used to us sneaking around the palace with nothing covering our heads."

"That's right." Marik told his twin, while putting the hood on, "Now wear it so we can go already."

Bakura wore his not a moment ago after Marik tossed it to him.

"Now...why are we even wearing this? We could be mistaken as intruders you know." Malik whined, as he told them matter-of-factly.

Bakura and Marik looked at each other then at him, "As if we would let ourselves get caught."

"What if we did got caught?"

"Stop whining and put the damn hood on!" Marik shouted at his twin, a little too loudly.

With a glare at both Marik and Bakura, Malik put the hood on, swearing profanities about his life, his twin, and possibly the night spent in the dungeons if they weren't careful.

Bakura then lead the way, opening the door, he poked his head out to see if there were guards patrolling the hallways. He then looked at either sides, and when he was convinced that the coast was clear, he poked his head back in to tell them.

"Coast is clear."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, there weren't guards patrolling the hallways."

The three went out of the chamber, and walked down the hallway, turning around a corner. When they were a little farther down the dim lighted hallway, Malik turned around.

"Huh?"

The other two then stopped walking and looked at their companion. Bakura then hissed, "What is it now?"

Malik answered without looking at him, "I thought I saw someone."

Bakura and Marik looked at the place where Malik was looking. Bakura sighed in annoyance while Marik shook his head. His twin sometimes sees things...things that are sometimes imaginable.

"Come now." Marik grabbed his twin's hand and walked down the hallway, Bakura followed. After they were gone, a figure peeped from behind the corner that they had just passed.

A few minutes later...

Marik, Malik, and Bakura had scared the servants who were fooling around, hidden in the bushes and the guards who were patrolling the grounds. Now they were laughing their heads off, in their rooms.

"Did you see the servant's face?" Bakura asked the two as he doubled in laughter.

"Yeah. She was worth remembering." Marik smirked, "To think that no one knows that she's making love in the gardens with her fellow servant."

"Guys...don't you get tired of this thing?" Malik asked the two.

"Why would we?" Marik asked his twin.

Malik fumbled with his hood, "It's because someone would have bound to know it later on...and I'm afraid if our sister gets to know this."

"She wouldn't." Marik scoffed, "Besides she's busy with her duties in the infirmary and to the royal family."

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"Why are the royals involved in this?"

Marik smacked his twin's head, "Duh! She's the apprentice of the priest in the pharaoh's court! And besides, she has a duty to fulfill with the deceased queen."

Malik was shocked. He never expected his twin to speak that way against the queen...or maybe there was really a duty that Isis has to perform...to the queen...but whatever it is...why did Marik knew about it?

Bakura looked at the twins then stood up, "I'm going out again."

"Come on, let's." Marik agreed.

"Are you coming or what?" Bakura asked Malik who was standing mobilized on the ground.

"I'm coming."

Atem was walking down the hallway, quietly. He doesn't want guards to see him and asked what he was doing out at night. He was worried about his sister, she had planned to do it tonight and as much as he hated it, he doesn't want to leave her alone or else she might get herself in big trouble. Trouble like...you know it.

"Where are you, Atemu?" he whispered while looking around.

He then heard footsteps coming his way, so he quickly hid himself behind one of the columns.

"Did you hear that?" asked the voice.

"Hear what?" asked another.

"Nothing."confirmed the other, "Come on let's go."

They continued walking until they disappeared around the corner. The young prince then peeked from behind the column that he had recently hid himself to avoid being caught. He looked at the way the two men headed earlier then went on his way.

In the other part of the palace...in the courtyard...

Two servants were secretly doing things that a child couldn't comprehend...they were treating each other passionately. The male was holding the female in his arms and kissing the top of her forehead while the female was wrapping her arms around the male's waist.

"You know...we aren't allowed to do this..." the female told her lover.

The male shrugged, "Don't worry no one had seen us yet...and besides we have been doing this since before the Princess was born, Tethys."

"I know that...but what if a guard catches us and assumes that we were sneaking off?" Tethys asked him.

They did it again, more robust and passionate this time. Having no care that someone or rather a group of teenagers was watching them.

"I do love spying on people." Marik mused, while watching the two, "especially when they are making love on a bench in the courtyard..."

"Charming." Bakura commented.

"Could we atleast do something worthwhile?" Malik asked the two.

"Like what?"

"Like...something. Not hiding in the bush."

"You want to do something worthwhile but you can't think of something." said Marik, while busy watching the lovers.

"Oh, Ra! They're doing it!" Bakura gasped.

"Let me see!" Marik exclaimed.

A few minutes later...

Bakura and Marik were laughing their heads off while Malik was bored out of his wits.

"I can't believe it!" Marik exclaimed, "I never thought they were lovers!"

"Me too! And the nerve to say that they had been together for six years!" Marik added.

"That's right." Bakura agreed. They then heard something walking or someone rather.

"What's that?" Malik asked as he hid himself behind his twin.

Bakura rolled his eyes as he look at Malik then back again to the direction that they heard the sound earlier, "There's nothing here you see." he said as he walked ahead of them, "See?"

Marik then looked at his twin, and shook his head, "Scaredy cat."

"I'm not!" Malik argued, "It's just that I heard stories about this palace being inhabited by the ghosts of the past Pharaohs."

"Oh, come on! Pharaohs get mummified, right?" he asked his twin, "So meaning, the priests had to prepare his soul to journey to the afterlife...so how could they leave their souls behind?"

"I do get that."

Bakura then waved to them, whispering, "Will you two get here already-" he wasn't able to finish his sentence when he was pulled inside the hallway. The twins shouted a little loudly, "Bakura!" they then ran to the direction where they saw their friend standing awhile ago.

"He was here. See? I told you so!" Malik glared at his brother.

"Fine. You got me."

Malik then fidgeted, "I just knew the stories were right! If I did just listen to my..." he mumbled on. Marik then smacked him behind his head.

"What did you do that for?" he asked, annoyed, "Our friend's been kidnapped by a dead ghost of a Pharaoh and all you did was smack me on the head?"

Marik then looked at the hallway and back to him, "Are you even sure it was only the Pharaoh's ghost? It could be anyone in particular."

"Oh, let's just search for Bakura." the former told the latter, and went towards the direction Bakura vanished awhile ago.

Marik followed after. When they came around the corner, "Boo!" Malik jumped on his brother and they both fell on the floor. While Bakura was busy laughing his head off.

"How dare you?!" Malik asked in rage, "After we were worried about you that I literally freaked to death when you disappeared!"

"Yeah, he sort of did." Marik commented. Bakura then stopped laughing, "I was just joking. I knew that you would fell for it." He then felt someone grabbed his shoulder.

The twins eyes grew wide. Malik then stuttered, "Ba-Bakura, I-I think there was someone holding onto your shoulder."

"Oh, come on." Bakura told him, "You know Pharaohs can't leave ghosts...even the members of the royal family..." when he turned to stare behind him.

"Aahhhhh!" he screamed as he scrambled backwards and fell on his butt. The twins looked at him.

"Should we run?" Marik asked.

"Yes. Come on lets." Bakura answered as he shakingly stood up and ran.

They went running to their chambers, passing Atem along the way. The Prince curious about what happened, grabbed Malik's arm.

"What's wrong?" he asked.

Malik's eyes grew wide at seeing him, he then stopped, "Haven't you realized? We saw a ghost right that way!" he pointed at the direction where they came from.

Atem shook his head, disbelief setting in his features. There's no such thing as ghosts. But then he knew who that 'ghost' could be...

"You might be hallucinating." he reasoned.

"No, we're not! We really saw it...and before that it held onto Bakura's shoulder."

The prince nodded then let go of his friend's arm. Malik swiflty opened the door to their chambers and went inside, followed by Marik and Bakura. They left the young Prince in the hallways, shaking his head.

'They must have learned their lesson.' he thought to himself. He then heard footsteps. He stiffened and posed to protect himself when he saw Seto came into view, his arms loaded with papyrus.

He relaxed, "Seto. It's only you. I thought it was someone else."

Seto looked at him then spoke, "Cousin, what are you doing outside your chambers?"

"I just...I just want to explore." he lied.

The older shook his head, "Come with me. I'll escort you back to your chambers. You're gonna give your father a heart attack when he learns of this."

Atem thought, 'Oh, please Ra no! Don't tell this to Father!"

As if reading his mind, Seto turned to him, "I'm not gonna tell this to your father...but if we don't hurry, guards might come any minute and question us, especially you, since you are the Crown Prince."

They walked in the hallway, with the young prince infront and his cousin at the back. They walked in silence.

"What's those papyri for?" Atem asked, breaking the silence.

"It's for my studies."

"Oh."

"Believe me, it's not easy as it sounds." Seto broke the conversation. When they arrived at Atem's chambers, they stopped. The prince then held on the knob and looked at his cousin. Glaring more like.

"You better go inside." Seto motioned the younger.

The latter then looked at the former, "Thank you."

"Don't thank me. You were just lucky that I was the one who spotted you."

Atem got the picture, he then opened the doors to his room, "Good night, Seto."

"Good night, Your Highness." Seto replied, walking away.

The prince then looked at the direction his cousin went through and shook his head, entered his chambers and closed the doors. It seems like his sister's plan worked...but where is she now?

In the gardens...

Atemu slipped by the guards along the hallways. With her hood drawn over her head, she went to the gardens. She then felt the bricks, trying to remember where the loose one is. Sensing the brick where she last remember it, she pushed it and crawled through the hole. And out she came.

She marveled at the sight, the market was still open with few people still managing it. She then backed against the wall and pushed the brick again, back to its place. She then ran towards the marketplace, to the Nile River. Never thinking that her safety was on the line. And she might get herself in heaps of trouble.
