Chapter 18: Birthday

I reluctantly woke up as it was my birthday. I wished I could just skip classes just for today and enjoy my day with Murasakibara. There were many things I planned with him but my parents, especially my father, insisted of me going to school. He even personally drove me to school today, to make sure I wasn't lying to him when I said I would go to school. My mother understood my intention of not attending classes but she remained quiet when my father is around.

As my father was driving, I was half sulking at the passenger's seat. Why can't I just do whatever I want? It's my birthday and I want to enjoy this day to my fullest. How many times can a person celebrate his or her birthday in a year? My father noticed my sulking and he began small talk with me.

"I know you are very mad at me right now, but I am doing this for your own good."

I remained silent. I just nodded at his words. My father began to speak again.

"Your mom told me about how you wanted to spend your time with Murasakibara-kun today. I was slightly surprised."

The very mentioned of 'Murasakibara' just turned my mood over. I looked over to my father and was in shocked. I couldn't hide my face.

"Daddy… you mean, mom told you about my plans?"

"Yes, she believes you are old enough now and I should know the truth."

I again remained silent. I don't know what to say or how to react.

"I'm glad she told me everything. Otherwise, I would worry about you."

"Hm?"

"If Murasakibara-kun hadn't took care of you that time when you came back late from 'school', what would've happened to you? Somehow, I am glad he cares for you deeply, like how I care for your mother."

"Daddy, are you mad that I hide everything from you?"

"No, I'm not. I understand why you did such."

We arrived at Yosen's parking lot. My dad opened the door for me like a princess. I hugged him before I left for the school's gate. Just before I let go of my hug, my father spoke.

"Listen, I want you to hang out with Murasakibara-kun today after school."

"Eh? I thought we will celebrate my birthday later on over dinner?"

"Well, it's your birthday, isn't it?"

"Daddy…"

"I approve of your relationship with him, but with one condition."

"That is…?"

"If he distracts you more than your studies, I will be disappointed."

"I promise you I will not forget my studies daddy. Pinky promise?"

I don't remember the last time I did a pinky promise with anyone else, let alone with my dad. He kissed my forehead and drove away to work. I walked towards the school gate and saw a familiar figure waiting.

"Atsushi!"

I ran to him and hugged him tight. He whispered 'happy birthday' to me by my ears. I thanked him and we went to classes together.

Here I am at school, attending classes like I normally would. A lot of people greeted me 'happy birthday' and I politely thank them for remembering my birthday. Atsushi was sticking to me like a magnet, insisting to spend more time with me. He knew about my plans of wanting to go to Disneyland and just spend our entire day there but when I told him our plans was cancelled, he didn't say anything else. We had lunch together and he bought me my favourite lunch menu: Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. He wanted to spoon feed me but I declined because I am embarrassed about PDA in school.

When school was over, that was when I felt freedom. It was just 3pm. Murasakibara and I decided to have some desserts at Sweets Paradise. Thankfully, there weren't many people around so we could stay there for quite some time. He insisted of spoon feed me this time so I let him did. It was embarrassing at first but I enjoyed it. I could see a slight tinge of redness at Murasakibara's cheeks.

We went window shopping together. He held my hands as we walked around the city. It felt natural now than it was. I wasn't hesitant in holding hands with him. Murasakibara was just walking without saying where we are heading. When we reached the place, I was surprised.

"Disney Store?"

"Let's go to Disneyland now."

"Eh? Atsushi..."

"There's the after 6 ticket that we can buy. Once we did, we will go to Disneyland right away. That was your plan originally, right?"

"Okay!"

We bought the tickets and hopped on several trains to Disneyland. We sat down and talk very quietly between us.

"Atsushi, my father approved of our relationship. I felt happy about it."

Murasakibara held my hands and said, "I'm glad he approved of us. I will say thank you to him the next time I see him."

I lay down my head next to his shoulders. "I still refuse to go to America though."

"Maybe your father may change his mind about that? Let's not think about it now and enjoy Disneyland, okay?"

"Okay Atsushi." We gave each other a quick kiss on each other's lips and remained quiet.

It took us about an hour to reach Disneyland so it was near 6 when we arrived. We hopped off from the train and the scenery was beautiful. The park was busy as ever. There were also many students in their uniforms. I didn't realized this until I saw myself in Yosen High uniform.

Murasakibara and I only had 1 ride since we wanted to watch the fireworks at 8 pm. After the ride, we went for dinner. It was one of the most fulfilling dinner I had. By 7:45, we were waiting near the Castle. I can't wait for the fireworks to be on display.

"Atsushi, thank you."

"Hm? For what?"

"For spending your time with me."

"I don't like to go out, but I don't like it if I have to go out on my own."

"Atsushi… I didn't know you can be a tsundere."

"Baka." He held me closer to his arms. "I rather spend time with you than with my Yosen basketball mates, that's for sure."

The fireworks began and we looked at the sky. The colourful display never fail to amaze visitors of Disneyland.

"Happy birthday."

"Atsushi?"

Murasakibara reached for my lips and I could feel his passionate kiss.

"It's been a long while since we enjoyed fireworks, didn't we?"

I nodded. We kissed each other again. He refused to let go of his embrace and I enjoyed my birthday kisses under the fireworks.
