HEY EVERYONE! Long time no see! I'm sorry I haven't updated this in a while; my ideas have been all over the place. And with my current job situation, I have a ridiculous amount of time to write, which is awesome, so I'm hoping some of the ideas bounce in this story's direction.

Like oh hey, this one. XP I'm sorry it isn't a lemon, I've been a bit lemon-ed out lately. So I hope it holds up to your standards :D

ALSO! This story has some 50 Shades of Greybashing because. Because. Just, if you happen to like said book for some inexplicable reason, I apologize in advance. :D

ALSO ALSO! Gone with the Wind features prominently in this story. I have not read it, and I saw the movie a long time ago. So I apologize if I reference something out of place, or if it doesn't make sense with the book. Because as you will see, my opinion of Gone with the Wind is the same as Demyx's. And I guess some people don't consider it a romance, and I can't say either way, so for this story's sake, it's a romance.

Onward!

Oh yes, long blocks of Italics are book excerpts. (Lover Most Devious is a book of my own creation as well)

What If…

Zexion forced Demyx to read a huge book but accidentally

swapped it with one of Axel's less appropriate books?

((as suggested by the lovely Skydancing Dragon))

Zexion and Demyx sat alone in the cafeteria working silently. Since both of their missions were researched-based today (Demyx could really apply himself when he wanted to), the two had enjoyed a pleasant lunch together before settling in to work.

Demyx let out a sigh of frustration as he shut a heavy book about the various properties of Heartless. "Man this can be difficult! I need a little break," he said, laying his chin down on top of the thick volume.

Zexion looked up at him from his own book, peering at him over the rim of his glasses. "A break?" he questioned, "But you just started."

Demyx looked at the clock. "It's been two hours since lunch, Zexion." he said dryly.

"As I said, you just started."

Demyx let out a groan. "I'll get back to it, workaholic, just give me a minute to rest my eyes." Zexion shook his head before returning his gaze to his own book.

Ten minutes later, Zexion peeked up again to see if Demyx had returned to his work. He was surprised to see that Demyx had his nose buried in a romance novel with his elbows propped up on top of the Heartless book. "I thought you said you needed to rest your eyes," he pointed out wryly.

Demyx waved him off with a hand. "This is totally different," he pointed out as he turned a page. "Now shhh, I'll get back to work as soon as I finish this good part."

"Is the good part the dirty part?" Zexion couldn't resist teasing.

Demyx blushed slightly but didn't reply, remaining engrossed in his book. Zexion examined the cover of Demyx's current romance novel. It had a way-too-muscular gentleman on the light blue cover. His shirt was open, and his arms were wrapped around a buxom woman who appeared to be in the throes of passion. Zexion's eyebrows furrowed. "Why do you read those?" he asked curiously.

"I like the happy endings." he said without looking up.

Zexion snorted. "I don't think that's the reason."

Demyx looked up, eyes narrowing slightly. "If you thought you knew the answer, then why did you ask?"

Zexion countered with another question. "Why don't you read a book that has real romance?"

Demyx put down his book, curious now about what Zexion meant. "Like what?"

"Oh, I don't know…" Zexion said, thinking for a moment. "How about Gone with the Wind?"

Demyx made a face. "Ugh, no thank you." He picked up his book again.

"Why not?" Zexion asked, affronted.

"Because I've seen the movie."

Zexion made a noise of protest. "You can't be telling me that you are comparing a book to a movie—"

"That's not what I mean," Demyx disputed, putting the book down again, "I'm saying, I've seen the ending. It's not a very happy ending for a romance, in my opinion. So unless they've changed the ending, I don't think I'd like the book very much."

"But it is a happy ending!" Zexion protested, "Scarlett is—" he broke off, seeing the bemused expression on Demyx's face. "What?"

"Zexy," he asked with a growing smile, "Have you read Gone with the Wind?"

Zexion blushed heavily, looking back down at his research. "…Yes," he said quietly, and Demyx couldn't suppress a bark of laughter.

"What?" he said, still chuckling, "Zexion, that is one of the last things I'd have expected you to read. Don't tell me you think that 50 Shades of Grey is a real romance too?"

Both of them shuddered.

"Gone with the Wind is a true romance," Zexion explained calmly, adjusting his glasses. "And I think you would do well to read it."

Demyx snorted, putting his book away and returning to his work. "I think that I would rather read 50 Sh—Nevermind," he said, decided that wasn't even funny in sarcasm, "I'd just rather not, okay?" he smiled slightly before looking back down at his research.

A few minutes later, Demyx heard a 'thump' as a large book covered in nondescript black covering was dropped in front of him. He looked up to see Zexion returning to his seat.

"When did you—"

"Why don't you give it a chance?" Zexion asked sincerely with a slightly hopeful tinge to his voice.

Demyx looked from Zexion down to the book he had dropped in front of him before looking back at Zexion. "That's Gone with the Wind?" he said incredulously. Its size rivalled the research book. He flipped through it, seeing the heavy text-laden pages. "Jeez, Zexion, it's over a thousand pages! This would take months—"

"Please?" Zexion asked with quiet sincerity, "I think you'll really enjoy it if you give it a try." Demyx stared at him for a moment before letting out a long sigh.

"You're lucky I love you Zexion," he muttered, pulling the book closer to him. Zexion smiled.

"Just wait, Demyx, it's really good—"

"You covered this in black paper so no one would know you were reading it, didn't you."

Zexion cut himself off, blushing again. "Get back to work, IX."

-((2 Weeks and 330 Pages Later))-

Demyx sat alone in the cafeteria, enjoying the benefits of an early mission and a quiet lunch…or at least, he was trying to. He still wasn't even halfway through Gone with the Wind yet. He had the book propped up in front of him, reading as he ate.

"Well, my dear, take heart. Someday, I will kiss you and you will like it. But not now, so I beg you not to be too impatient."

"Oh my God just kiss her already," Demyx complained to himself in frustration. He sighed.

This sucks, he thought, trying to focus intently on the words, Sure, it's not horrible, but…I just don't want to read this. He turned a page. Maybe there'll be a sex scene… He sighed again. "The things I do to make him happy…"

"Trouble in paradise, Casanova?"

Demyx looked up to see Axel leaning against the doorframe, a similarly-sized black-covered book in one hand. "Hey Axel," he said, thankfully gaining an excuse to shut the book and put it to the side. Axel grabbed some food before sitting down across from him, setting down his book.

"What's wrong, my dear Melodious Nocturne?" he asked, taking a bite of his sandwich.

Demyx sighed for the umpteenth time. "Nothing really," he started, gesturing at his book, "It's just that I'm reading this huge book that Zexion wants me to read, and I really don't like it."

"Then don't read it," Axel pointed out simply. Demyx shook his head.

"I can't do that," he said, pushing the thing closer to Axel and the table's edge, "You should've seen his face, Ax, he looked so happy when I said I'd read it…I'll just have to stick it out."

"Ah, love," Axel commiserated before taking a thoughtful bite of his sandwich.

After a moment of quiet, Demyx raised an eyebrow. "Why are you here anyway?"

"Same as you I suppose," the redhead replied, "Finished work early, wanted to get some lunch and some reading done." He placed a hand on the cover of his book.

"What are you reading?" Demyx asked, curious that he had taken the time to cover his own book as well.

Axel's lips slowly turned up in a devious smile. "A true romance, my friend. One of my favorite books."

"Really? What's it abo—" Demyx was cut off by a sudden BOOMthat shook the cafeteria, sending the contents of the table spilling to the floor. As Demyx bent to pick up the mess, Axel stood abruptly.

"Did I mention that when I said 'I finished work early' I meant that 'I just finished setting a trap in Marluxia's room?'"

Demyx chuckled, looking up at Axel. "He's going to kill you."

"Only if he can find me," Axel said with a wink as he squatted down, grabbing his book and the remains of his sandwich. "I think Roxas might need some help with his mission today," he mused as he headed for the door.

"How nice of you," Demyx said sarcastically as he reset his lunch on the table. Axel waved and in another moment he was gone. Demyx was about to resume his reading when a thought struck him. If Marluxia is about to go on a rampage, I better make myself scarce too, he decided, gathering his own lunch and summoning a portal.

He arrived in the forest on the edge of Twilight Town a few moments later. Cherishing the quiet, he settled down at the base of a tree, opening his book to the correct page as he took a bite of his pizza. Let's see…I think it was Chapter 20… Demyx never used a bookmark. He usually lost them anyways.

"Here we go…" he said with resignation as he started to read…

Scarlett awoke to find herself completely naked with her hands and feet tied down to the bed. She couldn't move more than a few inches, and her eyes were covered with a silk blindfold.

"R—" she started, but her words cut off in a shriek as the tails of a whip sliced into her stomach.

"That's not my name," a deep voice said to her left.

Scarlett shuddered, feeling utterly exposed, displayed in such a way before his gaze. She knew what he wanted her to say. "Master…"

Demyx blinked, staring incredulously at the pages. Well that escalated rather quickly, he thought curiously. He read further…

"That's my girl," she heard him say before he sent the whip singing into her flesh again. She yelped, but found that she enjoyed the sweet pain. She couldn't see it, but she could almost sense his predatory smile as he slowly grazed his fingers up her stomach, trailing over her nipples before he pinched one hard. He chuckled at her shocked cry, reaching into his bag of toys to pull out—

"Woah!" Demyx said, unable to believe what he was reading. This is what Zexion suggested for me to read? I knew Zexy was kinky, but damn… He paused for a moment, biting his lip in indecision. I should finish this. If Zexion is that insistent that this is true romance, then I'd better pay attention…

-((3 Days Later))-

Demyx lay wide awake in bed that night, unable to sleep. The rest of Gone with the Wind had been drastically different than the first third, and he had finished the rest of the lengthy book in record time. That was the problem.

What should I do… he thought, staring at the ceiling as if it was going to give him an answer. Zexion had been very adamant that he read that book. But that book…he was certain that some of those mental images would be with him forever. And Zexion insisted this book was a true romance? Is he trying to tell me something? Demyx wondered, I mean, we can get pretty damn frisky sometimes, but… He blushed in the dark room, remembering some of the unspeakable things they did in the story.

I don't think I can do all that, Demyx decided. He sighed, pulling the covers away and sitting up. "Might as well get it over with now," he said to himself, resigned as he grabbed the book and summoned a portal to Zexion's door.

He knocked quietly. "Zexion?" he questioned softly.

Zexion opened the door, confused at Demyx's sudden appearance at such a late hour. "Demyx?" he asked, "What's wrong?"

Demyx entered his room, setting the book down on the desk. "I finished the book today."

Zexion's worried expression melted into one of relief. "And you couldn't wait to talk about it," Zexion said, understanding.

"No, I really couldn't," Demyx agreed, sitting down on the bed. Zexion sat next to him.

"You read it so quickly! You liked it that much?"

"Well…." Demyx said, choosing his words carefully, "It was definitely overwhelming at times, so I just wanted to finish it quickly."

"I absolutely agree," Zexion said, enthusiasm building at the thought that Demyx finally understood his feelings. "There were times when I almost cried actually, especially at the end—"

"Really?" Demyx said in surprise, "I thought the end was very…compelling."

Zexion smiled. "So you can see why it's a better end than you thought from the movie? Why it's a true romance?"

Demyx hesitated, unsure of what he wanted to say. "The ending was…definitely different than what I'd thought it would be," he allowed. "But a true romance…" he wavered, sentence trailing off.

Zexion frowned slightly. "What do you mean? What part didn't you like?"

"Well," Demyx said again, drawing out the word, reluctant to hurt Zexion's feelings, "The part with the binder clips was kinda—"

"What?" Zexion asked, completely confused. "What are you talking about? It's set in the Civil War era; there's no such thing as—"

Zexion stopped talking as Demyx offered the open book to him. He took it, reading the page he had opened it up to. After a moment, his face went slack with scandalized shock. "Oh my…God…" he snapped the book shut, eyes meeting Demyx's. "Demyx, what did you read?"

"I read what you gave me!" Demyx exclaimed, confused at Zexion's confusion. "Although, I must say that the last two thirds of the book were completely different than the first part—"

Zexion didn't answer; instead he ripped the black cover off the front of the book. "Lover Most Devious?" he questioned in bewilderment. He turned, showing Demyx the cover that was most assuredly not a scene from Gone with the Wind.

Demyx's brows knit together in puzzlement. "It's a different book?" he asked, staring at the cover, "How is it a different—wait." he said, thinking back to three days prior. "Waaiit…"

"What?"

"Axel!" Demyx said as if that suddenly explained everything, "We were eating lunch together a few days ago, and our stuff fell to the floor…he had a similarly-covered book; I bet he accidentally—"

"Grabbed the wrong one," Zexion finished, looking down at the book again. "You didn't think there was anything strange about the drastic change in the book? Like the time frame, perhaps?" he asked with a grin.

Demyx blushed. "Hey! The main character's name is the same; it was possible!" Zexion just started laughing. "It's not funny!" he protested further in embarrassment, "I thought—" he cut himself off suddenly, blush deepening. Zexion stopped laughing.

"Thought what?"

"I thought that you were trying to use this book to tell me something," Demyx admitted, "You said that this book was your idea of true romance, so I thought that you wanted to…change things up," he explained tentatively.

It was Zexion's turn to blush. "Well, if that small passage was any indication, I could see why you were concerned," he said with a smile.

Demyx's own smile widened in relief. "Good," he said, setting the book back on the desk, "I mean, we do some pretty fun stuff, but some things in that book…" he trailed off, embarrassed.

"Like what?" Zexion asked, curious.

"What do you mean?" Demyx said, blush returning.

"I'm curious about what keeps making you blush," he said in a smooth voice, smirking as Demyx's blush deepened further. Instead of replying, Demyx reached for the book.

"Well…" he started as he leafed through the pages. He marked several different sections with his fingers before handing the book over to Zexion. "These are the parts that immediately came to mind."

Zexion scanned the pages, blush staining his own cheeks as he briefly read each section. When he was finished, he cleared his throat. "I see." he said, "I definitely agree that some of this is…pretty graphic," he admitted, and Demyx laughed softly, happy that he thought so. "But this," he continued, pointing out a certain section, "I think this might be rather fun actually."

"Fun?" Demyx said with a squeak. He read the section in question. "Sure, it looks fun for you—"

"We could take turns," Zexion countered, his smile tinged with lustful intent. "Maybe we could…give it a try?"

Demyx's face decided in that immediate moment that it wanted to resemble a tomato. When Zexion's serious expression didn't change, he blushed even further beyond the red section of the color spectrum. "You're serious?"

"Yeah," Zexion said, "You never know, right?" He took Demyx's hand, stroking his fingers slowly with his thumb. "Experiencing something firsthand can be so much better than reading about it, don't you think?" he suddenly tugged on Demyx's hand, bringing them nose-to-nose. "Don't worry; we'll be careful," he continued in a silky voice, "What do you say?"

"I-I-I…" Demyx stuttered, completely at a loss. "—I think I'm going to return this book back to Axel," he said suddenly, shooting off the bed. Zexion let him up without protest, but the leering gleam in his eyes didn't waver.

"Will you be back?"

Demyx stopped at the door and closed his eyes, willing his blush to lessen. It didn't work. "I'll be back," he said, and disappeared out the door before Zexion could reply.

-((Axel's))-

Demyx quietly knocked on Axel's door. He's usually up at this hour, Demyx mused, but you never know—The door suddenly opened, revealing a shirtless Axel with tousled hair.

"Yes?" he asked, voice cracking ever-so-slightly.

"I'm sorry," Demyx said, immediately backpedaling, "I didn't wake you, did I? I can come back—"

"No, you didn't wake me," Axel said, green eyes sparkling with mischief. "What can I do for you?"

Demyx decided it best not to reply and just held out the book.

"That's right!" Axel said, turning and reaching into his bookcase next to the door, pulling out Gone with the Wind. "You got my book by accident the other day." He held out Zexion's book.

Demyx's eyes widened. "You knew?"

"Immediately."

"Why didn't you get your book back from me right away?"

"I figured when you didn't come to me with it right away that you either hadn't figured it out or you wanted to read it anyway," Axel explained, "so I decided to give you some time to read it and learn a few things that might come in handy."

Demyx was scandalized. "Ax, that book was—" he broke off, trying to think of the correct words to say to encompass both his fear and dark intrigue. Axel raised an eyebrow, amused at Demyx's sudden loss for words. He also didn't miss Demyx's blush.

His smile widened shrewdly. "Zexion wants to try something from it, doesn't he?"

Demyx's blush immediately deepened. When he did nothing but stammer half responses, Axel laughed, putting Gone with the Wind in his hand. "Go to bed, Demyx."

"But—" he protested, still holding Axel's book.

"Keep it for now," Axel said, turning back into his room, "I recommend page 46."

Demyx started sputtering again. "A-Axel! What does Roxas think of all this?"

Axel turned back with a lascivious grin. "He's the one who bought the book."

The look on Demyx's face was priceless as Axel returned to his room, shutting the door with a faint click.

-((The End!))-

Oh I enjoyed that one XP For the record, I'm not trying to say anything bad about any hardcore BDSM, you like what you like. I was just going from my character's point of view :D

I also didn't intend 50 Shades to be a crack at BDSM either, woops. That was supposed to be a crack at the fact it's horribly written…SO YOU KNOW. :D

Please review; I love hearing from you guys!

Thanks for reading!

Last One: Raising Roxanne! ((I had to Google it, oops))

Leon twitched. "Cloud. I just want to watch the last part of my football game, so please just shut up until it's over?

Cloud smirked. "Don't bet on it."
