Chapter 27: Unexpected Day

The cold winds of February was blowing throughout the month, as if it is welcoming March not long. The snow started to thaw to give way for spring. The shops around towns and cities are preparing for Valentine's with beautiful decorations of hearts and stars.

Murasakibara had planned to bring me out for dinner. We never had dinner dates before so for him to initiate is such a rare opportunity. Normally we would hang out at Sweets Paradise since he loves it very much but since 'today is special' as Atsushi termed it, he would picked me up at my place at 6.

If it is a dinner date, what should I wear? I opened my closet and saw a few pieces of dress. I felt like I had nothing to wear although there are a few. I took out a pink laced dress and wore it. Just then, my mom came in.

"You look beautiful." My mom complimented it and I thanked her for her compliments.

"Are you seeing Murasakibara-kun tonight?"

"Yeah, he's picking me up and I am deciding on which outfit to wear."

"I think this is just perfect."

"Thanks again, mum. Are you going out with dad?"

"Your father told me he will be back home late from work today. I guess I will just wait for him."

"Mom, how did you and Dad met? I never asked I think."

My mom grinned as she was about to answer. "At a club. He was trying his luck courting other girls too." I couldn't help but to laugh, imagined my father doing such when he was young. "But how did you two ended up dating?"

"Ask you dad next time, alright? It's rather embarrassing if I were to say it." My mom chuckled.

"OK Mom, thanks. I'll go get ready since Atsushi might come soon."

"You're a big girl now and I'm glad Murasakibara-kun loves you as much as you love him."

"Mom… it's kinda embarrassing for you to say so!"

"I'm praising my own daughter, nothing's wrong." She winked and left me alone.

By 6, a doorbell was rung and I answered the door. Murasakibara was wearing a suit, with a dark purple tie. He was holding a bouquet of flower.

"Atsushi, thank you."

"You're welcome. The taxi is waiting for us outside."

I nodded my head and we entered the taxi. The taxi driver was driving to the city and I assumed he knew our destination. I enjoyed the night scene of the city, something I rarely see nowadays. Murasakibara unwrapped a chocolate bar and offered one for me, which I took. He was quiet throughout the ride, aside from eating the chocolates.

Once the taxi stopped, Murasakibara paid the taxi driver and held my hands. I asked him where are we going and he did not said a word. Instead, he took my hands and kept on walking. The area was surrounded by bushes but there was no other people. It was slightly eerie until I saw a setup which made me speechless.

"Atsushi, this is…"

"I hope you like it."

I could see the city scene from this restaurant. It was beautiful from the hill top. I could feel the wind blowing and Murasakibara held me from behind. His warm body was just perfect. His fingers intertwined with mine and I could feel his chin on my left shoulder.

"Shall we enter? It's a bit chilly out here."

"Yeah."

We were seated facing each other. The waiter started serving us food. It was a sweets-themed dinner which consisted of chocolate coated cookies, sweet sauced chicken slices with salad leaves, toffee tiramisu, chocolate fudge and vanilla ice cream with a cherry. Murasakibara was seen happily enjoying the dinner, occasionally trying to take my share which I gave some.

"Atsushi, thank you for the dinner. I truly enjoyed it."

"You're welcome dear. I loved your outfit today too."

I blushed and said nothing. Murasakibara took my hand and led me outside to the balcony. It was a chilly night and I wasn't sure why would he do so. Just then, he bent down on his knee and took out a small box. He opened the box and I saw a ring. I was beyond speechless.

"Will you be my wife?"

My eyes got teary and I nodded.

"Yes, I will."

Murasakibara stood up. I watched as he inserted the ring onto my finger. We looked into each other's eyes and kissed.

"Atsushi, I…"

"I know you're surprised but I thought it's about time since we dated for a long time."

"I am the happiest girl alive right now."

Murasakibara hugged me tightly, not willing to let go. I quietly whispered 'I love you' to him and surprisingly, he replied back with 'Me too'.

Author's Note: Did anyone expected this chapter to end like this? Believe me, me either. Haha. To be honest, I wasn't sure the direction of this story. Should I stop at high school level? Or beyond? And will readers agree with this kind of direction? I guess I should stop worrying. Have a great day everyone! (I am patiently waiting for Mr Right xD)
