AN: I leave you, on this note. Thanks a lot for sticking with me and my story, and I really appreciate those who favourite, followed and reviewed my stories. I haven't gotten this much support for a story before! I hope I can see you all again, hopefully with another fic. See ya, and box me yo thoughts if you'd like!
Yoshikunitsu: Oh, I know, I know. Thing is, I haven't quite figured it out myself either, so I couldn't really tell you much about how the assassins came together in the first place unless I really sat down with my friends.
I know, I was just messing around.
Nights (73, 74, 75): Oh hell yeah, it does.
Kinda? I think this ending should be canon imo.
I don't even know if there IS a 5th or 6th wall!
JackFrostDoll: Hell yeah.
Nunas The No Name: Of course it does. They broke the 4th wall quite a few times before.
MiNyx forever more!
From the first bad ending:
"Minato…" She squeezed his hand tightly and caressed his cheek. "Y-You're joking right…? This is just an elaborate joke, a prank or something?" Nyx bit her lip as she felt and saw no signs of movement from Minato's body. "M-Minato… you idiot… you idiot, I swear…" The words came out like growls, but there was no denying that warm tears were starting to stream down her cheeks.
"Is he really?" Yukari gasped, her voice wavering. "No… no, not again!" They had just gotten him back and then he was gone again? Why? Why of all times? Why of all people? Why did it have to happen again? It couldn't be real. This was all just a bad dream. If she woke up, maybe she'd find that what she was seeing wasn't real. This scene of seeing someone that she loved dead in someone's arms wasn't real.
"Yukari…" Fuuka mumbled, although the strength in her voice was waning too. Fuuka wasn't sure what to say to her friend. She so wanted to comfort her and everyone else, but she too felt that there wasn't anything that she could do. She couldn't help anyone the last time either. Not for someone like Minato who had stuck by her through thick and thin.
"Was it really just meant to happen all along?" Mitsuru muttered under her breath. "But why…?" She thought that wouldn't have to deal with those feelings again, but it seemed that she wouldn't escape from such emotions. The mix of bewilderment, sadness and anger burnt deep. If there was such thing as a burn beyond the third degree, that was what she was feeling, and it was biting through her skin. The feelings of loss for someone like Minato who had helped her to learn and to persevere ran deep.
"Are you shitting me?" Kanashi gulped. "But we were going to win and everything, and he didn't have to… do whatever goddamned voodoo shit he pulled!" he laughed nervously. Whether he would admit it or not, he admired Minato's power. And together, they'd be able to get through everything, especially if he had those other guys and girls going along with him. And he had other people, not just the team helping him too! What the hell was he going to say to Maiko of all people? Someone as good a guy as Minato shouldn't have just gone and offed himself!
Yashiro grit his teeth. How could that have happened? He could he have lost yet another friend like that? "Don't tell me it happened again…?" he gave an anxious smile. Was it that he wasn't strong enough? Why goddammit!? Yashiro was shaking with rage. That was it. He was just too goddamned weak to be able to protect his own friends. Someone that brought him closer to someone that he never would've been close to before.
Akihiko stayed ever silent as he cycled through his emotions, desperately trying to calm down. Not that he could. His fists were trembling, and if he knew any better, he was going to be crying. Something about this time told him that Minato definitely wasn't going to come back. Not like the last time. The last time, he couldn't believe how happy he was to find out that Minato was back with them. Where Akihiko was sure, he felt Minato belonged. The events were hitting him hard like punches to the gut, like before with Shinji, and but a few months ago. A reliable leader, and person.
Ken was informed late the last time Minato died, but that didn't stop him from break down. Right then, he was trying not to do that. He had to be strong. He wasn't going to break down or anything. Whatever resolves Ken had, he couldn't stop crying though. Koromaru's ears flattened, and his tail had definitely stopped wagging. It was like before, when his own master died. Whether anyone could tell remained to be seen, but if he could cry, he would have been. He nuzzled Ken's leg, trying to comfort him in a way.
For Hibiki, it was almost as if the gravity of the situation hadn't hit him. Or at least, hard enough to bring him back into reality. "How could…?" he mumbled constantly about how any of it could have occurred. For someone like Minato who was cool, brave and strong that had pulled him from jealousy, he couldn't believe that this person had died right in front of him.
Junpei clenched his teeth. Once more, Minato had left. He stayed silent. He was Minato's best friend before. Junpei had always respected him for being so strong and for being able to keep so calm, and really he was all around better than him. And of course this time, he had done pretty much the impossible for them again.
Kurow bit his lip. He felt like it was his fault. As a part of the group that formed the assassins he had aided before in the downfall of SEES, including Minato. But for being able to stand against everything that they had thrown at him, and for bringing those two dumbfucks to him as some kind of friends, he had some unspoken respect for Minato.
Nyx gazed at Minato, her tears still falling. His body was becoming like stones; cold and heavy. "You insufferable idiot…" she sobbed.
Aigis felt as if she couldn't process the feelings that were storming within her. It was almost like before; that Minato fell asleep in her arms. His heart had stopped beating, and his body was growing colder. She took slow, tentative steps towards Nyx and Minato. "Nyx… I know how you feel," she said. Nyx looked at her incredulously, almost as if she was ready to strike her down for even suggesting something like that. But she relented. That wouldn't do anything. "Minato… he died before. In my arms…"Aigis mumbled.
Nyx gazed at Aigis softly and sighed, musing silently that Minato looked as if he was peacefully asleep. "I see… I'm sorry," Nyx shook her head as she kissed Minato's cheek and slowly laid him onto the ground. "This might as well be my fault."
Aigis shook her head. She wasn't any better off than Nyx, but she could try to comfort her, even a little. "This isn't your fault, Nyx. You brought him back to us for an even longer amount of time… before, I would be sure that every one of us would have fallen prey to the grief in our hearts even faster."
"Nyx." She turned her head towards Kanashi. "Without ya, I wouldn't have met him, or Yashiro." Yashiro sighed. True.
"Same," he nodded. "I'd really like to think that maybe it was my fault or something but… "
"You can't exactly spread all the blame on us man!" Kanashi finished.
"It was Erebus' fault, that's it," Hibiki said resolutely. "I'm not used to this… but this really is just his fault."
"How's that?" Kurow scoffed. It wasn't just Erebus that got them into this mess in the first place.
"The point here is, we can't just blame ourselves for his death," Ken said, although his voice was trembling.
"You're right Ken. The thing is… didn't he choose to?" Akihiko asked.
Nyx stood. "He did."
"Musta had some kinda faith in us that… you know, we wouldn't all fall apart! He put some kinda faith in us that we would keep going for him," Junpei exclaimed. "It was just his choice, we just gotta move on! He'd probably want that!"
Nyx nodded at that and everyone turned to Junpei with incredulous looks. "He chose his own fate. I suppose we never really told you why or how he came back… just that somehow he got me to use my powers to do it."
"Come to think of it…" Mitsuru mumbled. "Continue…"
"Minato asked me to bring him back to your world himself. He was trapped in a thing of his own making called the Great Seal," Nyx explained. "It kept Erebus away from me. Risking everything that he knew, he persuaded me to let me loose him off the seal, and created that pact, that deal with me. The Great Seal is probably what keeps Erebus locked away now, or perhaps he used his powers to send Erebus to the farthest corners of the Universe in order to keep all of you safe."
"If it was his choice, then we have no choice either. We must move forward," Aigis said.
Many years later…
"I mean like, as if it would be so easy and all of that," Nyx laughed a little. "It took a while to get restarted, but we got there in the end."
"You know, if you guys didn't get yourselves sorted out, I would've used some of my powers to do so and make you go through a whole lot of grinding and try to make you guys kill each other?" Minato asked with an almost joking tone.
Nyx raised an eyebrow, and then punched his shoulder lightly. "Meanie," she shook her head.
"How'd everyone else go after high school?" Minato said after a few moments, mock-rubbing his shoulder.
"Well… it turned out that there was still more work for them to do in terms of Shadows and stuff," Nyx explained. "There was another group of Persona users and they handled the threat but there were still some parts of it that needed more work. I don't remember it being that much. Also, apparently there was some stuff about how Kurow and his gang were sorta picked out by Erebus because of their SP signatures via Takaya and stuff like that…"
"What about who got with who and whatever?" Minato asked.
Nyx took a moment to recollect her thoughts. "For a start… Three of the guys finally found themselves some new companions and all. I mean Kanashi, Yashiro and Hibiki."
"Haha, that's cool," Minato smiled.
"Mmhm. Kanashi kinda kept sorta secret about it. I think he might've been taken pre-cautions until the wedding so that Kurow wouldn't accidentally play a part into her death again," Nyx laughed. "Yashiro found someone that was suspiciously like him in every way, but was also the exact opposite of him too. It was amusing to say the least since she was pretty hyper, and Yashiro always got caught up in that."
"That does sound funny. I would've paid to see that. That'd make a great movie," Minato suggested.
"No, it wouldn't," Nyx nodded. "And Hibiki also found someone, which was good. She was pretty happy-go-lucky, kinda like him. Opposites attract in one case, and like minds also attract. It really just doesn't make sense."
"Yeah, love doesn't really make sense," Minato agreed. "Like between us."
"True, true," Nyx laughed. "You know, I loved you just that much that I couldn't fall in love with anyone else?" she smiled at Minato, who gazed back with a nearly surprised expression and flushed cheeks to go with it.
"R-Really? I wouldn't have minded to be honest…" Minato rubbed the back of his head. Waiting that long like Nyx did would've been painful, to be sure. Trooper.
Nyx shrugged. "I suppose… but you're the only one for me." She caressed Minato's cheek, and he held a soft grip on her hand.
"I-I see…" He smiled back at Nyx, almost unable to say anything else.
"Mmhm. No-one else could be there for me to teach me everything that I wanted to know about after all. It just wouldn't be the same," Nyx sighed. "In the first few days… I swear, I didn't know what to do, I was like a vegetable or something."
Minato breathed out heavily and hugged her close to him. "I almost thought about doing things that had never crossed my mind before… but I knew that it wouldn't work, or do anything. I kept lying to myself, but some way or another I found that you wouldn't let me." He closed his eyes, sighing once more. "I found that you gave me something to help me move on but still… I really, really missed you," she said.
"I know… I'm sorry," Minato shook his head. "But… I'm kinda here now…"
Nyx turned her head towards the Great Seal behind her. Her eyes travelled up and down the great stone, especially along the carved out lines. The gaze of the eyeballs on the door however was somewhat unnerving, so she returned her gaze to Minato's.
What was with her was some sort of ghostly apparition of him, because the whole of his soul had to hold back Erebus. Shockwaves passed through the rolling sand and clouds sometimes, but it was very rare. It was quiet for then, and even though Minato wasn't truly next to Nyx, somehow it was possible for her to feel his warmth, radiating from him like a star.
"I know," she mumbled. Nyx's eyes widened. "Oh right. The rest of the team found people to be with to-"
Minato pulled Nyx towards him and pressed his lips onto hers, stroking her hair. "I figured," he whispered into her ear.
"G-Geez…" Nyx slapped his shoulder lightly.
Minato just chuckled at Nyx's reaction, especially the blush on her cheeks. "They're gold-tinted," he noted, running his fingers through her hair.
"You always liked making me blush," Nyx shook her head, albeit with a small smile.
"Still do," Minato smiled back. "For as much as the Universe Arcana's meant to be absolute and infinite, I feel like even that power wouldn't measure up to well… how much I love you."
"Minato… that was so cheesy," she laughed. "I love you too, and not even Death can change that."
"We aren't really dead though," Minato pointed out.
Nyx kissed Minato briefly. "Shh…" she whispered. "Enough of that now."
Would you believe that they could spend all eternity at one of the far off corners of the Universe, loving each other? That's what they did. That is what they're still doing. That is what they'll do forever more.
…
My eyes fluttered open to a great canvas of cloud and dust, with bright pigments thrown wildly across the inky sky and tiny pin pricks of light scattered here and there. My ears were open to near quiet, with just Nyx's soft breaths as she slept. I moved my arms around, and I ran my fingers through her heavenly curtain of hair. She smiled a little, and entwined her fingers within my grip, bound tightly. I looked behind, seeing the seal I had formed.
I'm at the Great Seal. And it's even better. Because I have someone that helped me remember, and that I can be with forever until the end of time by my side.
