Chapter 4
Disclaimer: Nothing is mine! I don't want your money and I don't want any kind of fame or glory. I don't own their names, I don't own their characters, I don't own ANYTHING! ... maybe some of the plot x)
"AHH!"
"AHH!"
They were all screaming at each other and the Doctor switched from face to face until his face cracked into a giant grin. "ALRIGHT!" His eyes shining with excitement once more and looking more alive than ever.
"Eh- sir are you ok?" Harry asked looking at the Doctor expression guarded.
"Marvelous, in fact I don't think I have felt this way in a long time! What did you do?" He said looking up with a slanted smile towards Hermione. Suddenly his face turned grave, "I didn't regenerate did I?"
Before Hermione could respond the Doctor jumped out of the couch and seem to run an inventory, "Your fine Doctor, well... you didn't regenerate. Do you feel fine?"
"Just splendid, did my regeneration reboot or something?" Just then he faced Harry, "Oh wow, Harry Potter," looking at the last person, "and Ronald Weasley, must play a game of chess with you fair lad." He really was acting way too energetic for being 3 in the morning.
"Wha-" Ron tried to say but he was apparently too slow.
"Let's take a look around shall we?" He said as he clapped his hands and turned to the door walking straight to it leaving a very confused trio behind. Harry and Ron looked at each other before turning to Hermione both with a critical face.
"Where did you say you found this guy?" Ron asked.
"Eh-" Hermione tried to gather her thoughts but just then they heard the stairs groan.
"I'll go get him," said Harry, already sighing in defeat, must be one of the crazy ones.
It took a while to find the alien inside Grimmauld place, but then Harry saw a door open that he purposely kept closed. He walked in the room and was assaulted with memories from the walls, sure enough the stranger was in the middle of the room back facing the door.
"Sir-" Harry tried his best to keep polite even when the pictures on the walls pulled on his heart strings and pained him.
"Do you know who that is?" Said the Doctor in a serious voice.
"What?"
The Doctor turned around to face Harry with the same critical face, "That's Serious Black that is." A smile twitched on the corner of his lips.
Harry was even more confused now, reminding himself to be patient he counted to ten. "Sir, I need you to come down to living room now."
"Hmm, oh yes sure thing," he said turning into a circle before leaving the room. His eyes going everywhere when going down the hall head twisting as he went.
"Doctor," Hermione said as they re-entered the room, "could you please come here."
Harry went to stand by the door wand on hand.
The Doctor went to stand in-front of Hermione and Ron, head still turning this way or that.
"Doctor, I need you to look here for a second."
"Yeah sure," he looked for a second indeed and looked away to look at Ron and Harry.
"Doctor!"
Next time he turned around a sound came from behind him and he froze in place.
Hermione looked around him and saw Harry his wand out. Hermione stared at him eyebrows raised.
"What?" Harry exclaimed, raising his shoulders.
"Harry did you immobilized him?" Ron asked, a full grin on his face.
"Well, he would stay put and Hermione needed him to stay still, so… now he is still." He said shrugging a smile of his own.
Hermione scoffed and went back to look at the Doctor, "well, I'll just check your vitals and then talk."
She cast the charm and saw the bizarre runes and colors appear again, not so strange now that she had seen them a couple of times.
"Wait, these are different…" Hermione said looking at some blue symbols near his shoulder.
Ron was looking at her with awe his eye even twitching a little, "How can you even tell with all these scribbles Hermione?" Hermione watched as he tried to poke one with his wand.
Some things never change, "they were a different pattern I remember, look it was even this type of sketches." She said pulling out a notebook from her bag flipping to a page that made sense to her. "Now this, is usually the common area that tells basic, gender, height, weight, age… not things that change in mere hours…" She quickly sketched the new symbols and recorded the pigmentation as well as the time and date.
The room was silent for a few minutes as Hermione went sketching and poking at the symbols around the frozen Gallifreyan.
"You can release him now Harry," Hermione concluded taking a step back.
With a flick of Harry's wrist the Doctor became animated again.
"Wow!" He said twisting his neck, "If you twist the wrong way before getting frozen can really kill your neck!"
"Yeah, sorry 'bout that," said Harry.
"Oh no problem," said the Doctor shifting back and forward on his heels, suddenly exclaiming. "OH with my manners, I didn't introduce myself. I'm the Doctor!" he said with the same cheek he always did a broad smile on his face.
"Well, nice to meet you Doctor, this is my place although you seem extremely familiar with everything around. Were you a friend of the Black family?" Harry asked picking up his cup.
"Hmm? Oh no I just kind of -err- have read a lot about you, you could say..." He said as he scratched the back of his head. "I still can't believe," he said as he pulled out his sonic testing the very air, "that I am in the presence of Harry Potter and the golden trio. Maybe something went wrong when I crashed to TARDIS and went a whole different universe altogether. Or I may still be unconscious in a crashing TARDIS because how could this be real." The last part he whispered to himself in a very low low voice.
He went on ranting to himself sonic-ing everything. Hermione just started scribbling everything like the little bookworm she was archiving everything for further analysis. Harry looked fondly at his sister figure, because that what he felt whenever Hermione and Ron were around, like he had a proper family and he knew their quirks and their faults. Oh, they could bicker like siblings at times, but seeing her like this reminded him of warmer days. Back when they first met and became friends, her mind running away in a happy bliss for all the input it was getting.
Ron came close to him his cup in hand too. "Oy," he whispered once he was close enough to Harry. He in turn and faced a very serious faced red head. "Is it just me or does he kinda look like Barty Crouch Jr.?"
Harry looked back to where the Doctor was approaching sonic-ing the floor and now up to his cuppa.
"Unstable molecular disposition of matter, such as one that is continually molded or reshaped. In this case one would assume that it would mean that this cup has broken and a Reparo must be have cast." Standing up straight and raising his head to look down at Harry, he hummed, nodding his head slightly.
"Hermione, if you please," Harry said also straightening up to the lanky man in front of him, eyes.
Hermione started scribbling faster, probably finishing a sentence and nodded walking clumsy to Harry, nose still in the middle of her notes.
She was walking past him, when the Doctor snatched the notebook from Hermione starting to read her notes. Hermione glanced from the Doctor to Harry, seeing the thin line of Harry's mouth Hermione left her notebook in the Gallifreyan hands.
"What wrong, Harry?" Hermione asked once they had some privacy.
"Hermione, how sure are you that that man in there is trustworthy?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Look at him..." Harry said even going so far as to lifting a hand to the wild haired alien in his living room. "He looks an awful lot like Barty Crouch Jr., the Death Eater," he said in a whisper.
"But Harry, it can't be... Crouch Jr. was kissed, and the Doctor isn't even our same species."
Harry lifted his hand and ruffled his already messy hair at the back of his head. Taking a deep breath he asked the only question that mattered, "Do you trust him."
Biting on her lips, Hermione looked at the man whom she had met barely hours before, asking herself the same question.
AN:I KNOW I KNOW I haven't posted in years! so sorry but honestly I think this is going to be an exclusive summer only project because I am up the butt in work the rest of the year.
Thanks to all of you who rote to me with positive reviews, specially to gracelander2 and tenal you guys made my day and your comments encouraged me to keep on writing.
Someone commented saying: "Interesting, but Hermione was way too hysterical and useless. Using cool logic under stress is one of her defining characteristics." To which I need to say that I am one to always glorify Hermione, but one thing that made me mad about the HP series is that they never gave enough credit to Harry, when he could have gone to Ravenclaw. It was in the last chapter that I wanted to give him a little more credit and put the spotlight on him and less on Hermione. Prove the chosen one can actually read a book and what not. Also Hermione entered the Doctors mind... Remember how mundane minds cannot contain the knowledge of a Gallifreyian as we saw with Donna. Hermione was already on the edge of a breakdown because of that... I actually think I made her way stronger than any other human... at least mentally... just saying.
