Word was sent from Olympias' quarters that Alexander's companions and nobles should meet in the Kings council chamber forthwith. Of course not everyone attended; they didn't want to hear anything the former queen had to say about anything. So they stayed away speaking ill will of Olympias and even Alexander.

For those that came out in support there was an air of mystery to the event. The way to the council chamber was abuzz with conversation. But the sight of Alexander sitting and waiting patiently at the head of the table very much alive stopped them in their tracks. Their gaze darted from Alexander to the other person in the room, standing behind Alexander's chair arms folded dressed in leathers and furs.

"Gentlemen please come in and take a seat." Alexander said holding out his hands to welcome.

The group shuffled forward whilst Alexander remained neutral, watching waiting until everyone had found a place. Some lucky enough to get seats others had to stand.

Alexander was then bombarded with questions and demands until he put his hands to silence them all.

"Gentlemen, if you please one at a time."

So Alexander spent the next hour or more dealing with everything that the companions put to him. Of course everything he told them was all lies. He had hoped that if he kept the truth and what he had planned to himself then the guilty party would panic and to make themselves known.

"Did you pick up anything up? He asked sometime later when he and Hephaistion were alone in the council room. The other man paced whilst stroking his chin and pulling at his bottom lip in thought. He stopped and unfolded his arms.

"It would appear that our enemy has eluded us this time."

"DAMN!" Alexander cursed slamming the palm of his hands against the table making the other man jump slightly. As quick as he was to anger Alexander soon calmed and began to think clearly "What do we do now?"

"We must wait for now." Hephaistion told him gently "And in time, they will come to us."

Alexander looked doubtful but after a while nodded in agreement before standing up and simply left.

The anger that Alexander has displayed still continued to affect Hephaistion long after Alexander had gone. It was suffocating to be around.

But something else began to pull at his attention. Looking around he saw that it was one of Olympias' pets.

"What is it that you want?" he asked

"My Mistress wishes to sssspeak with you." the serpent said "It is of great importance."

"Olympias was told not to interfere." Hephaistion replied and the snake chuckled.

"Foolish man, then you will not want the information that she has."

Hephaistion sighed then nodded that he would go with the snake.
