Forest Child Chapter 14
Alexander dressed as he walked. He would be ready for the confrontation that lay ahead, oh yes he would be ready and he would win.
But first he had to make a quick stop. He entered his mother's rooms unannounced.
"Get out." He snapped to her staff that was in attendance.
Everyone had jumped when the King charged in wearing his battle armor. They looked to Olympia who simply nodded for them to leave.
"What is the meaning of this?" She demanded
"Don't play games with me mother, you know why I am here."
Olympia shook her head.
Alexander lost his temper and brushed aside the trays of food that where on the nearby table. He was trying to provoke a reaction from her. Unlike Hephaistion she seemed immune to his anger.
"I'm talking about Demeas; you knew who he was to me."
Olympia nodded her head in understanding "Hephaistion?"
Alexander neither confirmed nor denies her question.
"Yes I knew about Demeas but I didn't know it was him until we caught the messenger."
"Take me to him then!" Alexander snapped "I want to talk this messenger myself."
"I can't" came the reply
"Why not!"
"He died this morning."
Alexander slammed the palm of his hands down onto the table and cursed. He cursed everyone and everything.
"I am going to meet Demeas on the battlefield where I will kill him or he shall kill me, there will be no mercy."
Olympia's eyes started to glisten, at the thought of losing her only son, Alexander knew that but he did not go to comfort her. Instead he turned and left without a back glance.
The enemy was camped out on a beach, whilst their battleships drifted of shore. From the shadows came Alexander's men.
They approached from all corners of the camp dispatching the lookouts simultaneously with speed and stealth. They took the same approach to those that had been left in camp, take no prisoner had been their orders. Once the land enemy had been naturalized they burnt the tent as a signalfpr Alexander and his troops to start the sea battle.
